[Bug 890559] [NEW] Upon login, Unity Dash search takes too long to be functional
Public bug reported: This issue occurs when you first login and start to use the dash immediately to search for anything, files, apps etc. Whatever you type it will either not find anything showing a blank dash or randomly find only some elements like files yet not the app. At this point you can press escape to remove the dash and try again. It then takes several tries and several seconds to get the dash to respond properly. This issue was present in Natty and I thought it would be fixed in Oneiric but it hasn't. It's quite annoying and would definitely improve Unity's stability and usability perception. Re: [Bug 858046] Re: 11.04: external monitor not working from laptop
Hi Dave, Will do - sorry about the delay, your emails keep ending up in my spambox irrespective of me telling them not to go there!. xdiagnose is showing as already installed and I think it was installed when I ran apport previously. However, I will run it again and see what happens. Do I need to run xdiagnose first - if so, how? [Bug 858046] Re: 11.04: external monitor not working from laptop
apport information ** Description changed: Upgraded to 11.04 My laptop won't redirect output to an external monitor or a projector via the Fn+F8 key combination. This worked under 10.10 My laptop is a Dell Vostro 1400 laptop with a GeForce 8400M GS display card installed. The Ubuntu Display control panel won't detect a second display when the "Detect monitors" button is clicked. It also can't detect the laptop's own display type and labels it as "Unknown". Using the Nvidia X Server control panel, I can see that the laptop's display is a Seiko/Epson panel and, when I click the "Detect displays" button I do get the second display (a flat panel monitor),but it is labelled: "CRT-0 disabled". I've activated the drivers in the "Additional drivers" panel twice and used Synaptic to run Nvidia-update (followed by a restart). I still have "This driver is activated but not currently in use" in the Additional Drivers control panel plus, in the header, "No proprietary drivers are in use on this system". I've regularly run all the system updates. --- ApportVersion: 1.23-0ubuntu3 Architecture: i386 DistroCodename: oneiric DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.10 DistroVariant: ubuntu InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 11.04 "Natty Narwhal" - Release i386 (20110427.1) NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia Package: xorg 1:7.6+7ubuntu7 PackageArchitecture: i386 ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE=en_GB:en PATH=(custom, no user) LANG=en_GB.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.0.0-12.20-generic 3.0.4 Tags: oneiric ubuntu Uname: Linux 3.0.0-12-generic i686 UnreportableReason: Please work this issue through technical support channels first. [Bug 890555] [NEW] Alt stopped working as Meta in gnome-terminal with gtk+3.0 3.2.2-0ubuntu1
Public bug reported: My Alt key no longer acts as Meta in gnome-terminal on my precise system as of today. So for example in bash, Alt+b no longer moves back a word, Alt+Backspace no longer deletes a word, etc. These keystrokes now act as if Alt was not pressed. Other libvte-based terminals like xfce4-terminal are not affected. I traced this to the upload of gtk+3.0 3.2.2-0ubuntu1. After downgrading libgtk-3-0, libgail-3-0, libgail-3-common, gir1.2-gtk-3.0, libgtk-3-bin from 3.2.2-0ubuntu1 to 3.2.0-0ubuntu3 and restarting gnome- terminal, the problem goes away. [Bug 885033] Re: ISO generation fails in the encoding stage with segmentation fault
Hello Fabrice and Martin, I can confirm that dvdstyler 1.8.3-0ubuntu2.1 from oneiric-proposed seems to fix this problem. The burn process is able to proceed. I'll wait for it to complete and verify the resulting ISO. I'll post here if I find any problems that could be related to this. - Mikko -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/885033 Title: ISO generation fails in the encoding stage with segmentation fault To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dvdstyler/+bug/885033/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 709348] Re: some kernel config missing for wifi with IGEPv2 board (libertas driver finds no mmc interface)
I work with igep0030 modules only and do not have IGEPv2 (but I also toy around with BeagleC3 and overo). The igep0030 is similar to the IGEPv2 but has minor differences in the gpio/port usage. On the igep0030, the mmc1 interface (and its sdio-based wifi) has failed detection since linux-3.0.0: I suspect the kernel's pin-init/re- init/muxing is not so good after linux-2.6.39. But looking at the u-boot sources for the igep0030 from both IGEP and Linaro repositories, the pin-init file (.../u-boot/board/isee/igep0030/igep0030.h) were deficient compared to Beagle's and overo's. I have modified that file, rebuilt u-boot and, mmc1 (and the attached sdio-wifi) has started working again for the linux-3.0.9 (When possible, I'll try linux-3.1.1). Linaro's git source for the IGEPv2 u-boot pin-init file (.../u-boot/board/isee/igep0020/igep0020.h) is also very basic, and a better one may be found int the IGEP repository (http://git.igep.es/?p=pub/scm/u-boot-arm.git;a=summary) but I can't test because I haven't an IGEPv2. The attached u-boot pin-init file igep0030.h may have some issues because schematics aren't available for checking... (The real fix should be in the kernel's pin reinit/muxing, but I hope the above helps). ** Attachment added: "(.../u-boot/board/isee/igep0030/igep0030.h) for reference." https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-linaro-omap/+bug/709348/+attachment/2597393/+files/igep0030.h -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/709348 Title: some kernel config missing for wifi with IGEPv2 board (libertas driver finds no mmc interface) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-linaro-omap/+bug/709348/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

This is the corresponding changelog entry: Fix [ARM] PR target/50090: aliases in libgcc.a with default visibility, taken from the trunk I checked that rebuilding wxsvg make it possible to compile dvdstyler (tested in an arm chroot). - [Impact] dvdstyler cannot be built on armel [Development Fix] wxsvg has been synced and rebuilt 4 weeks ago on Precise, meaning that it has been rebuilt with fixed toolchain [Stable Fix] A simple rebuild of wxsvg is enough to catch the fixed toolchain [Test Case] Building dvdstyler from source on armel fails. With the rebuilt package, it builds fine. [Regression Potential] Without this fix, dvdstyler FTBFS on armel and is thus not usable (see bug #885033).
