[Bug 573919] Re: autofs doesn't work with lucid

2012-01-31 Thread Mike Johnson
The way we're dealing with it at my site is as follows:

blacklist autofs4 module
# echo blacklist autofs4 /etc/modprobe.d/autofs.conf
# chmod 644 /etc/modprobe.d/autofs.conf
# chown root:root /etc/modprobe.d/autofs.conf

load autofs module
# echo autofs /etc/modules
# reboot

This is forced on all our machines by cfengine just after the
kickstart/preseed. YMMV. We don't use NIS or NFSv4 so don't blame me
if this breaks anything as I have only tested it on my particular
setup.

[Bug 924337] [NEW] lxc on precise is not working with lucid containers

2012-01-31 Thread Gary Poster
Public bug reported:

On precise with newest packages as of 2012-01-31 1500Z, trying to start
an lxc lucid container hangs. Oneric and Precise containers work fine.

$ sudo lxc-start -n lp
init: ureadahead-other main process (31) terminated with status 4
init: console-setup main process (32) terminated with status 1
init: procps main process (33) terminated with status 255
init: ureadahead-other main process (37) terminated with status 4
[HANGS HERE, for at least two minutes]

How I created the container:
$ sudo lxc-create -t ubuntu -n lp -f /etc/lxc/local.conf -- -r lucid -a i686 -b
gary

local.conf:
$ cat /etc/lxc/local.conf
lxc.network.type=veth
lxc.network.link=lxcbr0
lxc.network.flags=up

/var/lib/lxc/lp/rootfs/etc/resolv.conf was a symlink to
/etc/resolvconf/run/resolv.conf. On the basis of previous
conversations, I tried changing it to nameserver 10.0.3.1 to no luck

[Bug 924375] [NEW] cloud-init should allow pre-seeding of ec2 datasource:Ec2:metadata_urls

2012-01-31 Thread Scott Moser
Public bug reported:

it would be best if cloud-init supported pre-seeding of the ec2 metadata url.
This way, something coordinating the installation could cleanly specify through
a preseed the location of the metadata url.

It might also make sense to be able to pre-seed 'manual_cache_clean'.
Then, you could essentially pre-seed cloud-config that looked like:

manual_cache_clean: True
datasource:
 Ec2:
  metadata_urls: [ http://192.168.1.131:80/abcdefg ]

where the path was a uuid or something, and on subsequent boots cloud-init
would not need that url to be present.
Note, though, that 'manual_cache_clean' is less important here, because you
could easily have cloud-config or cloud-init data served by the metadata
service populate that value in /etc/cloud/cloud.cfg.d.

waiting for a dhcp response. It has generally been on virbr0, and when
virbr0 had stp on.

Can you show what 'brctl show' on the host gives? Do your host logs
show any problems with dnsmasq on lxcbr0?

[Bug 906654] Re: nova should depend on openstackx and load appropriate osapi_extensions by default

2012-01-31 Thread Adam Gandelman
Note: This will likely be marked invalid soon, as the openstackx library
is soon to be marked deprecated and removed in favor of python-
novaclient.

Another note: the osapi_extensions flag has been renamed to
osapi_compute_extensions.

[Bug 914160] Re: [MIR] openvswitch

2012-01-31 Thread Ben Pfaff
 - sfl_agent_*error uses a fixed length buffer. is it ensured that it
won't overflow?

I only see calls to that function with short, fixed strings. The buffer
is 1000 bytes. I don't see how it could overflow.

However, it can't hurt to switch to snprintf(), so I posted a patch to
ovs-dev: http://openvswitch.org/pipermail/dev/2012-January/014601.html

[Bug 924337] Re: lxc on precise is not working with lucid containers

2012-01-31 Thread Gary Poster
I reported on IRC to Serge that virbr0 did indeed have STP enabled, but
that I did not see any obvious dnsmasq errors. He already had diagnosed
the problem said as a workaround I could just change the 'start on' in
/etc/init/console.conf in my container to 'start on mounted
MOUNTPOINT=/run'. stgraber's new upstart will fix it properly when it
hits the archive.

[Bug 924337] Re: lxc on precise is not working with lucid containers

2012-01-31 Thread Serge Hallyn
Thanks, Gary.

Note that the upstart 'fix' will basically be the same as the suggested
workaround.

I think the stp on for virbr0 is actually a red herring here, for two
reasons. First, you show in the Description that you are using lxcbr0,
which should have stp off. Second, in my own experiments, when the
console has been slow to come up, the network was actually up and i
could ssh in before the console came up. So i think the current 'start
on', which is 'stopped rc runlevel=2345]' is jsut bad - that is, there
is something running long (maybe udev?) which keeps us getting to
*stopped* rc runlevel 2.

Hello and congratulations for this first release of LibreOffice:

I have a problem recurring with LibreOffice as on OpenOffice.org which is
unable to read Microsoft Powerpoint slideshows with password.
When I want to read one, Impress puts me a message on a shot which I publish.
An outcome is open on openoffice.org but nothing seems to be done:

[Bug 923409] Re: [Both front and rear Line-In] No sound (codec parsing fails)

2012-01-31 Thread David Henningsson
If a codec has both a front and a rear Line In, two controls both
named Line Jack will be created, which causes parsing to fail.
While a long term solution might be to name the jacks differently,
this extra check is consistent with what is already being done in many
auto-parsers, and will also protect against other cases when two
inputs have the same label.

[Bug 924170] [NEW] Chat indicator (empathy) does not show new messages indication (both icon color and new entry under Chart) for gtalk conversations if messaging windows is already active

2012-01-31 Thread Oleg Cherkasov
Public bug reported:

I have got three IM accounts in empathy: ICQ, MSN and GTalk. indicator
applet changes icon and adds new message notification with the name of
person to the list under Chat however it works for ICQ and MSN only. It
seems GTalk/Jabber indicates just the first message and then do not
notify new messages arrive. Empathy chat window is active however has
no window manager focus or may be minimized. The quick note bubble on
the right-top corner appears with the text of new message however no
indication in applet.

Unity 3D on 11.10.

[Bug 924178] [NEW] e-mail content corruption in Evolution

2012-01-31 Thread Frederik Elwert
Public bug reported:

Now for the second time since I upgraded to Precise, I experienced
e-mail corruption in Evolution. In the list view, subject, sender and so
on are correct, but when I open the e-mail, its content is truncated and
also shows parts of the message that are normally not printed, like HTML
code and message boundaries. When I open the e-mails source, I can see
that also the headers are broken.

I attached a screenshot of one message’s source, which is heavily
corrupted.

When I open the e-mail on my provider’s webmail interface, it is
complete there. So it seems that not the actual e-mail content on the
IMAP server is broken, but evolution’s cache or rendering or whatever.

you press super or click the icon it only opens once for a sec then
closes and doesn't respond at all after that. The launcher works fine.

[Bug 923316] Re: [regression] Speakers are not muted while plugin the headphone

2012-01-31 Thread David Henningsson
Hi syldeb35 and thanks for trying out the development version of Ubuntu!

Could you please try the following:
1) with sudo/root permissions, open /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
2) add this line to the file:
options snd-hda-intel model=auto
3) Save and reboot
4) Now test and see if automute works, and if other inputs and outputs work.
5) With this new configuration, attach an alsainfo (

Thanks in advance!

Hello,
It seems this bug still has not been removed. I am now encountering it on the
newest version of Mint Linux; but since the latter is derived from Ubuntu, I
will add some comments here. I have now managed to make a stack trace of the
libreoffice call leading to the crash resulting from libreoffice having been
called by a nonroot account.

Please re-read my previous comment. Unless you patch python there is
nothing an application can do to prevent this. We _do_ handle
KeyboardInterrupt exceptions by the way, just that most people don't get
to see that one as it simply silently quits.

No problems with acer-wmi. The networkspeed is stable at 70-80 kb/s. It
looks like it's the same speed as all ways except when testing kernel
