[Bug 961115] Re: DPKG failed to locate File/Temp.pm in @INC ... during samba upgrade
This is update-inetd not working due to missing File/Temp.pm module. What's the output of dpkg -S File/Temp.pm ? And dpkg -s perl-modules update-inetd ? [Bug 958704] Re: ubuntu 12.04 boot with nis(ypbind) autofs (nfs) not working.
Main problem for delays is actually the network. [Bug 962001] Re: Nfs mount hangs while automounting home

[Bug 933656] Re: euca-describe-instances --ipv4 does not include public ip address
@Andrew, Could you please verify if this is still present. There is no longer a '--ipv4' flag in Ubuntu's euca2ools, but rather we output the public and private IP addresses in the 13 and 14 (from memory) tab delimited fields. So, if you still get wrong data in those fields, please say so. Note, I think I saw this yesterday. I associated an IP with: euca-associate-addr --instance-id instance addr Then, describe-instances did not show it, even though the system was reachable. I asked Adam Gandalman about it, and he suggested running the above command again (even though it would fail). I did that, and then subsequently the addresses showed up. Adam also noted that he believed this is now fixed upstream by a process that runs on the nodes and updates the data every so often. So it is basically eventually consistent. If I'm right above, then this is a nova bug at this point, and it is probably fixed. [Bug 881464] Re: [MIR] keystone
With regards to the testsuite for keystone. The testsuite included in keystone contain both functional and integration tests. An example of this keystone integration with keystoneclient, or swift with keystone. In order to run these tests, the tests do a git checkout of both swift and keystone when the tests are run. This make the tests not use what we will have in the archive for swift and keystone (ie make it less static) which is not good for us and less than ideal. I think we need to have options going forward. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to keystone in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/881464 Title: [MIR] keystone To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/keystone/+bug/881464/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 962373] [NEW] unhelpful error message when .ssh/known_hosts doesn't match
Public bug reported: In testing juju against openstack, I found that whenever I would 'juju destroy-environment' and then 'juju bootstrap' when I would try to use juju commands I would $ juju bootstrap $ juju ssh 0 $ juju destroy-environment $ juju bootstrap $ juju ssh 0 ... 2012-03-22 12:03:54,459 ERROR SSH forwarding error: @@@ This is unhelpful. This happens because the ip address allocated in the first bootstrap is reused in the second, and the host keys change. [Bug 962383] [NEW] ec2-key-pair went away, but juju doesn't say it is unsupported
Public bug reported: Apparently people should be using 'authorized-keys' or 'authorized-keys- path' in environments.yaml. 'ec2-key-pair' is found in google and it would be good if juju checked that it was specified and that people should instead use 'authorized-keys' or 'authorized-keys-path'. This would save people some time. It might also be nice that the documentation states that juju injects this ssh key differently than EC2 and that people should not expect for the former value of ec2-key-pair to show up in 'euca-describe- instances'. In other words, whey I use 'euca-run-instanaces -k mykey' I expect to see 'running mykey' in 'euca-describe-instances output. With juju, we see 'running None' now, but that is expected with how juju is working (but unexpected if used to EC2). ** Affects: juju (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to juju in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/962383 Title: ec2-key-pair went away, but juju doesn't say it is unsupported To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/juju/+bug/962383/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 962389] [NEW] juju Recommends on lxc installs libvirt-bin which causes problems when testing in virtualized environments
Public bug reported: In performing the juju MIR, I setup OpenStack using https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SecurityTeam/TestingOpenStack. This installs openstack in a libvirt managed VM and public addresses for openstack instances show up on the 192.168.122.0.0/24 network. This works great with euca2ools. However, with juju this fails because 'juju bootstrap' installs juju for the agents on the instances, but juju Recommends lxc, which pulls in libvirt-bin. Upon install, libvirt-bin configures its default network (192.168.122.0/24) and all of sudden the instance is unreachable. This is a known problem with running libvirt in a libvirt VM and the host libvirt network and the guest libvirt networks must not overlap. The security team uses libvirt extensively for testing and this makes it problematic to test juju with openstack. Others will undoubtedly want to perform similar testing for enterprise rollouts or for QA. A workaround is to have the OpenStack VM run in another network, eg 192.168.123.0/24 (but this is painful for people who already have many machines configured to use the default libvirt network). Several options exist: * split out juju-lxc and move it to Suggests, and have juju suggest installing it when configuring 'local:' environments * split out the juju agents (juju-core?) and have juju only install that in instances instead of 'juju' * have juju use --no-install-recommends when installing 'juju' on instances ** Affects: juju (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to juju in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/962389 Title: juju Recommends on lxc installs libvirt-bin which causes problems when testing in virtualized environments To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/juju/+bug/962389/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

This will allow the security, QA and SRU teams to have higher confidence that patches don't break keystone when used against the packages in the archive 2. disable the tests that require git and document somewhere (README.Debian?) how the keystone testsuite can be run against Ubuntu installed packages 3. do nothing I don't really see '3' as an option since keystone is going to be supported for 5 years and upstream git is going to be constantly evolving while the keystone testsuite being used in the package is going to be static. This means potentially more and more problems when people try to use the integration tests in their personal testing (which we should be doing). '2' is acceptable but far less desirable as it will also require a QRT script.

Disables APT pipelining on first boot for new Cloud Images instances - 2.) Disables APT pipelining on installation for existing cloud-images. + 1.) Disables APT pipelining on first boot for new Cloud Images instances + 2.) Disables APT pipelining on installation for existing cloud-images. The rational for this SRU is due to the Mirror situation for EC2 Cloud images. Currently, the mirrors are proving to have moments of instability that is causing both end-user and development pain. In order to address this, we built out Amazon AWS S3 mirrors. Unfortantly, due to a bug in S3, apt http pipeling does not work with S3. As a result, in order to provide enhanced availability for the Cloud Image repositories in EC2, apt http pipelining needs to be disabled ahead of flipping the new S3 mirrors as the active mirrors. The performance impact of this change is unnoticable and in testing, has proven to provide no ill effect. http pipeplining allows for multiple requests to be made at the same time. The apt change log states that http pipelining is a micro-enhancement and within the EC2 environment shaves a few seconds of many requests. When apt http pipeling works, at best, it saves a few seconds, when it fails against a buggy HTTP1.1 server or behind a proxy that does not support it, the failures are arbitrary and not adiquetly explained. This change will enhance the Cloud Images by making apt request packages sequentially instead of in batches and prevent arbitrary failures caused by non-compliant web servers. Cloud image users, both on EC2 and outside, will benefit from this fix. http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~cloud-init-dev/cloud-init/trunk/revision/536 http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~cloud-init-dev/cloud-init/trunk/revision/537 - ___ apt-get is appears to be mangling the local caching file names, which is appearing as a hashsum or size mismatch. [Bug 881464] Re: [MIR] keystone
I spent some time on this yestreaday, to clarify- I don't really see the git checkouts an issue. The pending test to swift tests that do this do so only if there is an error importing it from already installed libraries. That is, it should be imported locally instead of cloned remotely if we list it with Build-Depends. The same should be true of keystoneclient, if its not we can probably patch that easily enough (I'm not able to confirm that the keystoneclient tests are actually running, though, as that would have turned up already) The bigger problem AFAICS is that the python-swift library used makes an unconditional call to setup a logging handler via /dev/log, which is causing these FTBFS: https://launchpadlibrarian.net/97807065/buildlog_ubuntu- precise-i386.keystone_2012.1%2Bgit201203212030-0ubuntu1_FAILEDTOBUILD.txt.gz We can either disable these swift tests (since they appear to be more integration tests that are actually exercising swift more than keystone), or we can probably carry a small patch to swift as well as a corresponding patch to any test suite that uses it, to make log setup optional.

[Bug 962507] Re: [FFE] Latest juju snapshot enables maas provider
Thanks for providing the differences and answering my questions on IRC. fix-charm-upgrade concerned me slightly, but seems to be an important fix (bug 903018). Having known that the PPA has been in use by many.. The quality of testing has been good. Please upload, FFE ack. He has stated it is a micro enhancement, and causes significant issues for many clients. + SRU Justification [Original Report] [SRU: Cloud-Init] r536 and r537 contains a fix that: 1.) Disables APT pipelining on first boot for new Cloud Images instances 2.) Disables APT pipelining on installation for existing cloud-images. Cloud image users, both on EC2 and outside, will benefit from this fix. http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~cloud-init-dev/cloud-init/trunk/revision/536 http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~cloud-init-dev/cloud-init/trunk/revision/537 ___ apt-get is appears to be mangling the local caching file names, which is appearing as a hashsum or size mismatch.
[Bug 948461] Re: apt-get hashsum/size mismatch because s3 mirrors don't support http pipelining correctly
** Description changed: - SRU Justification + [Problem] + When using S3 mirrors, the apt client requests files A,B,C,D in the same request, but S3 responds with files B,C,D,A or some other arbitrary ordering. Apt then saves the files under the wrong file names. + + This is due to a bug in Amazon AWS S3, where http pipelining does not + work in violation of RFC 2068. apt uses http pipelining currently, so + this prevents apt from using mirrors hosted on S3 cloud instances. + [Impact] - EC2 Instances cannot reliably use the new S3 Mirrors. - - Currently Canonical IS runs mirrors on instances in each EC2 - Availability zone. Ben Howard has put infrastructure in place to run - these mirrors entirely out of Amazon's S3. Therefore, we cannot put these S3 - mirrors in place until after this fix is released. + Blocks use of S3 mirrors for providing ubuntu updates. Affects Hardy, Lucid, Maverick, Oneiric, Natty, and Precise. + + Use of S3 mirrors is considered as a way of enhancing our mirror + services. Currently mirrors have moments of instability, so having the + option of switching to S3 mirrors is very important for update + reliability.
