[Bug 1014257] [NEW] MySQL monitoring fails when used with Percona or MariaDB
Public bug reported: Several of the MySQL monitors give errors like the following when used with a MariaDB server in Precise: 2012/06/17-12:10:27 [30020] Error output from mysql_qcache: 2012/06/17-12:10:27 [30020] Unknown section: Main thread process no. 9457, id 140001932375808, state: waiting for server activity at /etc/munin/plugins/mysql_qcache line 1086. 2012/06/17-12:10:27 [30020] Service 'mysql_qcache' exited with status 255/0. [Bug 1014347] [NEW] NUT License prevents distribution of SSL-enabled builds
Public bug reported: Due to NUT being licensed under GPLv2, GPLv3, and GPLv1 or later, and the code for SSL support using OpenSSL, the packages of NUT cannot be distributed with support for SSL communication between client and server. To be able to do so, a special exception to the licenses used in NUT needs to be added, to allow linking with, and distributing, SSL- enabled binaries. An alternative solution is to use a different SSL implementation which is released under a license compatible with the GNU GPL, such as GnuTLS. [Bug 488696] Re: syntax error in nsswitch config near [ syntax error ]
Hmm. I ran into more issues with autofs. Not sure when they actually started, I only noticed them today. After some poking around I figured out that: 1. The map auto.master: Local domain name not set error occurs when I include +auto.master in /etc/auto.master. I also found out that this entry in /etc/auto.master is not required (at least on my installation). 2. For some bizarre reason, the way I had my autofs map files set up didn't work anymore without specifically adding .local to the server identification. For instance I'd set up: /home/user/Pictures server:/home/user/Pictures I had to change this to: /home/user/Pictures server.local:/home/user/Pictures This (so far) appears to have solved my issues with automount. At the same time I also changed /etc/nsswitch.conf: From: hosts: files mdns4_minimal [NOTFOUND=return] dns mdns4 To: hosts: files dns mdns4_minimal [NOTFOUND=return] mdns4 But I'm not sure that had any impact. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to autofs5 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/488696 Title: syntax error in nsswitch config near [ syntax error ] To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/autofs5/+bug/488696/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

Re: [Bug 976187] Re: Compiz blur doesn't work at all (Precise)
I seem to have fixed it for myself--I have an nvidia 8600M GT, with two monitors. I *think* what I did was install the NVIDIA-Linux-x86-295.53.run driver, but it might have been the devdriver_4.2_linux_32_295.41.run one. I'm pretty sure I'm not using Noveau or anything downloaded through the Additional Drivers dialog, since every kernel upgrade seems to break my graphics. For me, however, there wasn't even an option for blur in CCSM's Effects category, until I installed the driver downloaded from nvidia. [Bug 882237] Re: Incorrect focus when application is slow to respond
This is driving me nuts. I'm getting it on Debian unstable mousing in and out of google-chrome. A symptom I'm seeing is that xorg burns a lot of CPU time while it's happening, it appears to be coming from one of the closed-source nvidia libraries, and it appears to be issuing a storm of ioctl()s to /dev/nvidia0 (or nvidiactl, I forget) For comparison, I don't have this problem with twm. [Bug 776345] Re: Ubuntu 11.04 blank screen on boot
I have changed the status of this bug because I am now using the computer which originally was giving me problems and it is now working fine. I upgraded to Xubuntu 12.04 and everything works perfectly out of the box. I upgraded with a Live CD from Ubuntu 10.10 to Xubuntu 12.04 and had no problems whatsoever. The upgrade allowed me to keep my old files and settings and was rather quick and painless. To anyone who might have had problems with the 11.04 release, I strongly recommend upgrading to 12.04 and you should have a good, solid working system in no time. I initially tried Ubuntu 12.04 (Unity) with a Live CD and although the screen wasn't completely blank as before(11.04), it was still pretty hard to see anything. However, with Ubuntu 12.04 I could at least switch to a terminal session, which I couldn't do before--that's why I was never able to submit any sort of bug report, because with 11.04 NOTHING was working, not even a terminal to get apport to gather the bug report. So after noticing some improvement with Ubuntu 12.04 I figured I'd try Xubuntu 12.04 which uses the Xfce Desktop environment and is quite a bit more compatible with older hardware than Unity is. After noticing that my old PC was responding well to the Xubuntu 12.04 Live CD , I decided to perform the upgrade. The upgrade worked well and as I stated before, it was also very quick. I am now writing this with the PC that originally had problems with 11.04 and it is obviously working very well with 12.04. I don't claim to know what the cause was, but my guess is that it might have had to do with the (old) Linux Kernel's problems with Power Management from a year ago. Whatever the cause might have been, I can very honestly say that everything has been fixed and it is all working fine. So I hope this helps anyone. Try upgrading to 12.04 and everything should work out of the box (try a Live CD first, just to make sure). [Bug 996791] Re: Xubuntu 12.04 extremely slow login
@ferro, thanks alot for pointing this out, I can confirm this here. Removing i386 libraries solved the problem for me. Did not have the metapackage ia32-libs installed, but alot of :i386 libs. after apt-get remove libc6:i386 which removed nearly all the other :i386 packets, the error was gone. But this removed also some software I use (wine, rhythmbox). I reinstalled both. rhythmbox did not seem to have any i386 deps, but wine installed alot of i386 libs again. The problem is STILL gone... Here is a list of i386 libs now tagged as rc in dpkg -l (which were installed but are removed). Maybe one of these is causing the problem: gstreamer0.10-plugins-good:i386 libaa1:i386 libacl1:i386 libaio1:i386 libao4:i386 libasyncns0:i386 libatk1.0-0:i386 libattr1:i386 libaudiofile1:i386 libavc1394-0:i386 libbz2-1.0:i386 libcaca0:i386 libcairo-gobject2:i386 libcairo2:i386 libcanberra-gtk0:i386 libcanberra0:i386 libcap2:i386 libcdparanoia0:i386 libcroco3:i386 libcupsimage2:i386 libcurl3:i386 libdatrie1:i386 libdbus-glib-1-2:i386 libdv4:i386 libelf1:i386 libesd0:i386 libflac8:i386 libgail18:i386 libgdbm3:i386 libgdk-pixbuf2.0-0:i386 libgdu0:i386 libgnome-keyring0:i386 libgomp1:i386 libgtk-3-0:i386 libgtk2.0-0:i386 libgudev-1.0-0:i386 libibus-1.0-0:i386 libidn11:i386 libiec61883-0:i386 libjack-jackd2-0:i386 libjasper1:i386 libjson0:i386 libllvm2.9:i386 libmad0:i386 libmikmod2:i386 libmng1:i386 libncursesw5:i386 libnspr4:i386 libnss3:i386 libodbc1:i386 libogg0:i386 liboil0.3:i386 libpango1.0-0:i386 libpixman-1-0:i386 libpolkit-agent-1-0:i386 libpolkit-gobject-1-0:i386 libproxy1:i386 libpulse-mainloop-glib0:i386 libpulse0:i386 libqt4-dbus:i386 libqt4-declarative:i386 libqt4-designer:i386 libqt4-network:i386 libqt4-opengl:i386 libqt4-qt3support:i386 libqt4-script:i386 libqt4-scripttools:i386 libqt4-sql:i386 libqt4-svg:i386 libqt4-test:i386 libqt4-xml:i386 libqt4-xmlpatterns:i386 libqtcore4:i386 libqtgui4:i386 libqtwebkit4:i386 libraw1394-11:i386 librsvg2-2:i386 librtmp0:i386 libsamplerate0:i386 libsdl-image1.2:i386 libsdl-mixer1.2:i386 libsdl-net1.2:i386 libsdl-ttf2.0-0:i386 libsdl1.2debian:i386 libshout3:i386 libslang2:i386 libsndfile1:i386 libsoup-gnome2.4-1:i386 libsoup2.4-1:i386 libspeex1:i386 libspeexdsp1:i386 libssl0.9.8:i386 libstdc++5:i386 libtag1-vanilla:i386 libtdb1:i386 libthai0:i386 libtheora0:i386 libudev0:i386 libunistring0:i386 libvisual-0.4-0:i386 libvorbis0a:i386 libvorbisenc2:i386 libvorbisfile3:i386 libwavpack1:i386 libwrap0:i386 libxaw7:i386 libxcb-render0:i386 libxcb-shm0:i386 libxft2:i386 libxmu6:i386 libxp6:i386 libxss1:i386 libxtst6:i386 libxv1:i386 odbcinst1debian2:i386 xaw3dg:i386 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/996791 Title: Xubuntu 12.04 extremely slow login To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/accountsservice/+bug/996791/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1014019] Re: grub-efi update causes Operating system not found
I added the output to the original post. ** Description changed: This bug probably only affects laptops with immature efi implementations. The uefi-bios of the lenovo x325 has a problem with the efi file structure of grub-efi. After the latest grub-efi update it would not boot but only displayed Operating system not found. I fixed this by moving the grubx64.efi file from /EFI/ubuntu to EFI/BOOT and renaming it to: BOOTX64.EFI This was proposed at: http://www.rodsbooks.com/efi-bootloaders/installation.html I also tried using an efi startup script called startup.nsh containing just one line: fs0:\EFI\ubuntu\grubx64.efi I put this directly on the efi partition. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Reviewing your dmesg attachment in this bug report it seems that there is a problem with your hardware. I recommend performing a back up and then investigating the situation. Measures you might take include checking cable connections and using software tools to investigate the health of your hardware. In the event that is is not in fact an error with your hardware please set the bug's status back to New. Thanks and good luck! [This is an automated message. [Bug 370731] Re: message error on boot ata8: COMRESET failed (errno=-32)
I've got the same problem and hassle with that on Seagate drives. First I also switched cables and even bought a new drive; here and then I'm active on debian/ubuntu irc as helper, nobodey there nor in #hardware gave any helpfull hint. From ongoing research what I found so far is that it seems to be the NCQ feature causing it, so either one needs to patch the kernel or tell kernel to disable ncq. I found some helpfull Posts which I'm currently trying, until now the error persists, very annoying and a bad degression in HD's throughput, though no dataloss yet. I will report back if I did any Progress, and I can be emailed under mchul...@googlemail.com. A pastie with additional info can be found here (used hardware, and some corresponding lines from syslog. [Bug 1014236] [NEW] mmg crashes after 10s with fortify: longjmp causes uninitialized stack frame
Public bug reported: MKVtoolnix's gui crashes 10s + 190ms ater launch (yes, it crashes on a timer). *** longjmp causes uninitialized stack frame ***: mmg terminated(in libc: __fortify_fail) It does happen only under unusual conditions, but a stack corruption is a serious problem anyway. Conditions: Enabled checking of new version (on by default - Why?? Filled as bug #1014229) New version has to be checked (set last_check=0 in ~/.config/mkvtoolnix/config to be sure) Unreachable DNS servers This was caused by a crashed server in my case. Unplugging the network cable from the computer works (unless networmanager is used - the interfaceroutes need to stay up, so the packets are blackholed instead of returning hard errors) The sure way is probably echo nameserver {IP} /etc/resolv.conf, while {IP} is an unused IP address on local network. [Bug 1014236] Re: mmg crashes after 10s with fortify: longjmp causes uninitialized stack frame
** Attachment added: Console output https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1014236/+attachment/3193339/+files/mmgerr ** Description changed: - MKVtoolnix's gui crashes 10s + 190ms ater launch (yes, it crashes on timer). + MKVtoolnix's gui crashes 10s + 190ms ater launch (yes, it crashes on a timer). *** longjmp causes uninitialized stack frame ***: mmg terminated(in libc: __fortify_fail) It does happen only under unusual conditions, but a stack corruption is a serious problem anyway. Conditions: Enabled checking of new version (on by default - Why?? Filled as #1014229) New version has to be checked (set last_check=0 in ~/.config/mkvtoolnix/config to be sure) Unreachable DNS servers - This was caused by a crashed server in my case. - Unplugging the network cable from the computer works (unless networmanager is used - the interfaceroutes need to stay up, so the packets are blackholed instead of returning hard errors) - The sure way is probably echo nameserver {IP} /etc/resolv.conf, while {IP} is an unused IP address on local network. + This was caused by a crashed server in my case. + Unplugging the network cable from the computer works (unless networmanager is used - the interfaceroutes need to stay up, so the packets are blackholed instead of returning hard errors) + The sure way is probably echo nameserver {IP} /etc/resolv.conf, while {IP} is an unused IP address on local network.
