[Bug 1015935] Re: SWAT segfaults when trying to view full configuration
Right, our bug reporter investigated this a bit further, and it turns out that removing libpam-smbpass fixes the crash, and reinstalling libpam-smbpass causes the crash to happen again. This also explains why starting swat without the authentication check doesn't trigger the crash. As a next step, I'll install libpam-smbpass for a from source build to see if _that_ reproduces the crash. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1015935 Title: SWAT segfaults when trying to view full configuration To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/samba/+bug/1015935/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1016558] Re: package dovecot-common 1:1.2.9-1ubuntu6.5 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Hello jurgster. From your logs, this is the error: Setting up dovecot-common (1:1.2.9-1ubuntu6.5) ... Creating generic self-signed certificate: /etc/ssl/certs/dovecot.pem (replace with hand-crafted or authorized one if needed). hostname: Name or service not known dpkg: error processing dovecot-common (--configure): subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1 It would appear that dovecot's postinst requires that your hostname be resolvable to an address, and that yours is not. Please try: ping `hostname` If this fails then you may want to make sure that hostname is in /etc/hosts attached to 127.0.0.1. It is expected that the host name of a machine be resolvable at all times. [Bug 1016695] Re: add console=tty0 to cloud-image kernel boot parameters
Jeremiah, thanks for the bug report. It would be pretty awful to lose the upstart messages going to the serial console on EC2, so I don't think this is a valid solution. Perhaps we could add a vsphere-guest package which adds this to the kernel parameters in grub somehow. That would mean you still wouldn't see messages on the first boot, but debugging at that point can be handled by manually adding the option. ** Changed in: cloud-init (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Wishlist -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to cloud-init in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1016695 Title: add console=tty0 to cloud-image kernel boot parameters To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cloud-init/+bug/1016695/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1016905] Re: dovecot: imap-login segfault
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The current development version is 2.1.7. To make progress on this bug, we first need to determine if this bug is present in the development version. You can find more details about testing the development version at http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/ To keep releases stable, we do not update packages except to fix specific bugs. To be able to fix this bug in Precise, we would need steps to reproduce the bug and the specific upstream commit that fixed this issue to be identified. You can find out more information about this policy and procedure at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates I'm marking this bug as Incomplete for now. If you can provide steps to reproduce the bug, please add that information here and change the bug status back to New. [Bug 1016639] Re: LT2P VPN connection issue
There is no bug reported on the ipsec-tools bug tracker, this is coming from the boys at android - if you search the link I provided above you'll see them blaming ipsec-tools for it, so thats the best I can offer. The fact that Redhat has implemented a work-around for it (see provided patch above) suggests there is definitely something amiss. I'm afraid this is a bit over my head though. I know I haven't been able to connect to my L2TP VPn using Ubuntu ever since 11.10 which is when ipsec-tools 0.8.0 was introduced - I notice that Werner Jaeger has a set of packages but I haven't been able to get them working either. L2TP / IPSEC VPN is something Id really love to see working in network manager, but it isn't offered as far as I know - so it would be pretty hard for folks to be affected by this bug because Ubuntu doesn't offer the functionality out of the box. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to ipsec-tools in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1016639 Title: LT2P VPN connection issue To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ipsec-tools/+bug/1016639/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1015935] Re: SWAT segfaults when trying to view full configuration
Right, our bug reporter investigated this a bit further, and it turns out that removing libpam-smbpass fixes the crash, and reinstalling libpam-smbpass causes the crash to happen again. [Bug 1016824] [NEW] Ubuntu wallpapers are low quality (low resolution, JPEG artefacts, noise)
Public bug reported: Ubuntu wallpapers are low quality. They often are low resolution, have JPEG artefacts and/or visible noise. This degrades the quality feel of the desktop itself. The low resolution is self explanatory. Many people use a monitor resolution that is 1920 pixels wide. This should be easy to support as even the lowest quality digital camera is higher resolution than that. By comparison, gnome-backgrounds uses mostly 2560x1600 or 1920x1200. Often JPEG artefacts are visible in areas of very slight gradation. Though in precise I think there is a bigger problem with noise. Neither of these should be visible on the desktop. Please increase the JPEG encoding quality, and the image smoothness before that. Compare ubuntu-wallpapers with those from gnome-backgrounds. Though gnome-backgrounds are not great quality either, they are far better prepared than ubuntu-wallpapers. [Bug 1016825] [NEW] Audio gaps and runaway logging after a while
Public bug reported: Ubuntu 12.04 Behavior started after the last update from update-manager (which updated pulseaudio). Preconditions: Playing video+audio from Hauppauge PVR250 TV capture card, which intermittently stutters in audio/video delivery (half-second pause) Symptoms: After a while, the occasional stutter from audio delivery turns into a 2-second repeat - like a scratched audio cd, and pulseaudio starts logging lots and lots of: (3628.790| 0.000) D: [pulseaudio] module-udev-detect.c: /dev/snd/controlC0 is accessible: yes (3628.811| 0.021) D: [pulseaudio] module-udev-detect.c: /dev/snd/controlC2 is accessible: yes (about 10-100 rows each second) which does not stop. I.e - every few minutes, the audio stops and repeats for a couple of seconds, and then resumes normal operation, but seems to still be stuck in some loop causing above logging. Might be alsa-related, because: - Restart of pulseaudio does not remedy the problem - Stopping pulseaudio and continuing with alsa-only, still produces the 2-second pauses, but with silence instead of repeating audio. This behavior was not present before the update. [Bug 1016388] Re: Alienware M17xR3 continues running off battery when adapter is re-plugged
** Description changed: If the power source is removed from the laptop at any time while my computer is running, and then re-plugged back in, the laptop fails to recognize the source and continues to run off the battery. The problem did not exist in Ubuntu until the latest kernel and nvidia driver update (lucid-backports, kernel version 3.0.0-21-generic). Some observations: 1. If the power source is unplugged, the indicator does not switch to the battery state immediately, and only does so after about 4 seconds. 2. If, however, it does change to show the battery icon, it never switches back to charging when plugged back in. 3. The only way to get the battery to start charging again is to remove the battery when the laptop is plugged in (laptop switches off of course) and then boot back in. 4. If the power source is reconnected before the power icon switches to the battery icon, the system continues running like nothing ever happened, and continues charging. 5. When the battery has fallen into the non-charging state, even a regular power cycle will not get it to charge. Also, when in this state, the battery does not charge in Windows either (Windows however shows that a power source has been connected, but won't charge the battery). However, after doing the remove battery when plugged in trick, and booting into Windows, Windows properly recognizes when the adapter is plugged / unplugged and starts / stops charging accordingly. + + Update: Couple more usage scenarios: + 1. If the battery is charging, even though unplugging / replugging did not show that the adapter was disconnected / reconnected, putting the computer to sleep and then waking it makes the adapter function normally. + 2. However, after the computer has been resumed from sleep, as soon as a webpage with flash content is opened (such as youtube), it stops working again!!. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1016388 Title: Alienware M17xR3 continues running off battery when adapter is re- plugged To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-power-manager/+bug/1016388/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1015880] Re: Unable to install grub in selected partition
I just confirmed the bug exists for me using the 20120622 daily at http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/lubuntu/daily-live/20120622/quantal- desktop-i386.iso which has an md5sum of e75d146d5aca1396df74feef670e1bb5 For me, it occurs in a VM of 512MB RAM, and also in one of 2GB RAM. This is in VirtualBox 4.1.16 installed from virtualbox-4.1_4.1.16-78094~Ubuntu~lucid_amd64.deb I then manually partitioned the (virtual) disk using sudo fdisk /dev/sda to include a 1GB swap partition, and did the usual sudo mkswap /dev/sda2 sudo swapon /dev/sda2 sudo swapon -s free -m to make sure that it was set up for and being used as swap space. Even after all that... on a VM with 2GB RAM and 1GB swap... the bug described in bug #1015880 remains. So, as far as I can tell, RAM size does not affect this issue (as was sort of suggested on the lubuntu-qa list). ** Changed in: ubiquity (Ubuntu) Status: New = Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1015880 Title: Unable to install grub in selected partition To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1015880/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
