I have the same problem. I thought upgrading to 12.04 would, you know, be an 'upgrade' form 10.04. [Bug 1034962] Re: bacula dependency on bacula-server fails with held broken packages
Yes it can be worked around by installing the required 'bacula-*' packages. The problem is only with the 'bacula' meta-package. [Bug 990945] Re: samba-common doesn't read workgroup from smb.conf
G'day again, I seem to have found a solution for my problem; I think it is more a workaround than a solution IMHO. All I had to do was to reinstall samba- common a couple of times and make certain changes to /etc/samba/smb.conf in between re-installation attempts. Steps I followed: 1. Changed: realm = DOMAINNAME - realm = DOMAINNAME.SOMETHING This is weird because, installation script itself populates this variable with the value from workgroup and then complains @jelmer: I guess you need to look into this. 2. sudo aptitude reinstall samba-common Everything goes fine, however, now the installation will complain about absence of two shares, viz, NETLOGON and SYSVOL because, allegedly, I was trying to install samba as a Domain Controller; which I was not. Despite removing the line server role = dc, it didn't help as the install script would create it back and then whinge. I searched on how to NOT create a Domain Controller, however, the suggestions from samba.org didn't help at all. The suggestions were to have the following two config parameters: passdb backend = guest and security = share Anyway, since that didn't help, I simply uncommented the lines for NETLOGON and created the SYSVOL share, following the default recommendation. The recommendation was to look at some default config file for domain controller. Finally, after all this, the installation succeeded. @jelmer: I originally wanted to install Samba4 as a simple file-server, however, I could not understand why the install script would constantly try to install it as a DC. Could you please shed some light on this and how could I only install it as a simple file-server, like we could with samba3? Thanks again mate. Cheers, Abhi PS: While I was trying to investigate how to change workgroup name fetched by samba-common, I stumbled upon some interesting and amusing debconf scripts. One in particular had an amusing comment. samba-common.postinst: # Oh my GOD, this is ugly. Why would anyone put these samba-common.postinst: # characters in a workgroup name? Running minecraft on my g45, it's been up and rendering for about 10 minutes and I've wandered around for a bit, no GPU hang. Can you figure out some way to reliably produce the hang in just a few minutes, so that we can actually debug? Even if you can't come up with a way for us to reproduce the problem, if you can manage to do it in a short time period once with INTEL_DEBUG=aub set in the environment, the resulting intel.aub file may be useful. Reopening, finally found the root cause of this it seems and LibreOffice is not really innocent. At: http://opengrok.libreoffice.org/xref/core/sd/source/ui/toolpanel/TaskPaneFocusManager.cxx#229 we are generating an equal_range on an unsorted container, just to delete those in the next line. [Bug 1035806] [NEW] Please support customization of ubiquity-slideshow through defaults builder
Public bug reported: Many teams would like the ability to customize the installer slideshow, enhancing existing screenshots and slides with translations and special content. At this point, ubiquity-slideshow supports customization with an optional directory located at /usr/share/ubiquity- slideshow/slides/extra. This directory contains any customized slides or screenshots, for any locales that are supported by Ubiquity, placed like the following: extra/C/screenshots/usc.jpg extra/it/gethelp.html extra/it/screenshots/browse.jpg This can be done easily enough by hand. There is one other very important file which needs to be generated automatically: extra/directory.jsonp. [Bug 1035806] Re: Please support customization of ubiquity-slideshow through defaults builder
Oh, by the way, I'm happy to work on this, but if someone else just happens to be attached to it you can go ahead as well. (I'm not really a Perl person, so I wouldn't mind at all :b). From the looks of it, it should be pretty straight-forward: we can have a ubiquity-slideshow folder in the defaults template that ends up as it is on the disk. The script will need to generate directory.jsonp based on what files have been added, and that should be it. It would be nice to have the extra directory in a package that only exists on the live cd (to save some space in the final install), but I get the impression that will need some features we don't currently have. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1035806 Title: Please support customization of ubiquity-slideshow through defaults builder To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity-slideshow-ubuntu/+bug/1035806/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 992468] Re: network print : no possible with 12.04
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 945028 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/945028 Hi, With help from the ubuntu-nl forum I managed to get the printer working over the network. I configured with cups at http://localhost:631/admin Adding the printer by doing a network search (old way) gave me that error. (I guess it was using samba for network printing here because my printers adress was starting with smb:// ). But adding the printer with the cups administration panel works just fine. Since I already had the updated cups on my system I can't tell if this bug affected me or not but I can print now over the network. Could be another bug (samba) or I did not configure samba correctly. I don't care anymore because it works now. (Sorry I don't have the exact wording in front of me) I was able to resolve the error and allow the instillation to continue by finding the file indicator-weather.gschema.xml in another directory (/usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas/) and copying it to /usr/share/indicator-weather/ so that the install process could delete it. [Bug 149076] Re: I can't write a cd
Workaround to solve / pass this bug: - Go to Preferences / Congiure K3B / Advanced - Enable Show advanced GUI elements - Accept - Open the burn dialog - At right, there is a Writing app selector - Choose growisofs - Burn it! The next time this selector will be in auto, but it will use the last selection, which should be growisofs. I can confirm this bug when using the latest daily-live of 12.04.1 (with the default R600g driver). You are right on saying i should report each one on separated page. I updated unity to 5.14 but i think its unacceptable unity to have bugs like these. [Bug 1035822] [NEW] dib0700: infrared and hibernation issues
Public bug reported: There are some severe issues with the dib0700 module. Watching tv is no problem, but hibernation seems to be instable. Also, the wrong protocol is loaded for the remote control and loading the protocol after hibernation wakeup sometimes fails. This is my hardware: http://www.terratec.net/en/products/Cinergy_T_USB_XXS_2068.html Here you can see the remote control: http://www.terratec.net/en/products/pictures/img/4041785_29db8c0f42.png Issues: 1) Hibernating the system whilst watching tv fails consistently. One needs to reset the computer in order to proceed. 2) Sometimes loading the default protocol RC-5 after hibernation wakeup fails with this dmesg error: dib0700: rc submit urb failed If this happens, it is not possible to load any protocol using ir- keytable. Also, reloading the dib0700 module does not help. The only solution is to manually unplug the USB device and plug it in again. If you do this, the RC-5 protocol will be loaded. 3) The module always loads the RC-5 protocol whilst the remote control that was accompanied with my hardware does not support this protocol. The dib0700 module should know it needs to load the NEC protocol, or else there should be a straightforward way in Ubuntu to set the correct protocol. 4) After hibernation wakeup, the protocol always needs to be changed to nec again. The dib0700 module should know it had been set to the NEC protocol before hibernation and it should automatically load this protocol again. My workaround for this bug is to install the hibernate package and edit /etc/hibernate/common.conf: OnResume 20 /usr/bin/ir-keytable -s `ls /sys/class/rc/` -p nec 5) Enable Wake on USB Activity as described on http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=HOW- TO:Suspend_and_wake_in_Ubuntu#Enable_Wake_on_USB_Activity does not work. Maybe I did something wrong, but I suspect this is related to the bug that the dib0700 module loads the wrong protocol, RC-5 (instead of NEC). If any additional information is needed or if I need to run some tests, feel free to ask. I am really eager to get my Ubuntu TV experience as best as possible! [Bug 1035821] [NEW] add kwin-window-manager-gles to default install
Public bug reported: this is not a bug and I'm sorry for that. It's just that I can't find the proper venue to popose this wish. Since now isos are 1gb size, kwin gles is stable, gles is well supported by drivers, it could be important to insert kwin-window-manager-gles and dependencies into the default desktop metapackage.
