[Bug 1045027] [NEW] iPXE kills kvm with KVM: entry failed, hardware error 0x80000021
Public bug reported: This is a regression - I was using iPXE last night just fine on the same hardware (an i7-860) I've got a guest (xml attached) with no discs that I'm trying to netboot, but as soon as iPXE starts I see: iPXE (PCI 00:03.0) starting execution... and it stops - the libvirt log shows: KVM: entry failed, hardware error 0x8021 If you're running a guest on an Intel machine without unrestricted mode support, the failure can be most likely due to the guest entering an invalid state for Intel VT. For example, the guest maybe running in big real mode which is not supported on less recent Intel processors. [Bug 1039420] Re: NTP security vulnerability because not using authentication by default
NTP authentication only works if the MITM doesn't know the authentication key. Even if we enable authentication on ntp.ubuntu.com, you can still MITM the ntp update since presumably everybody would be using the same authentication key. The only way to fix this is to configure your own ntp server and use it with a key that only you know. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to ntp in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1039420 Title: NTP security vulnerability because not using authentication by default To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ntp/+bug/1039420/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1019395] Re: At random times NM applet menu stops responding
I have had it every since the 11.10 Unity release. It affects menus and non-Unity system tray icon menus also (like shutter, empathy, reminna). I believe it is actually a Unity/Compiz problem rather than Network Manager specific. It definitely does not require a suspend/restore to happen, just enough time/activity. What happens is after a period of use, usually less that a day, some kind of resource appear to run out or have leaked itself out. Then various things that require the resources stop works; so dynamically- created menus tend to be the first victims. The Network Manager VPN menu is definitely once of the most crippling because I know no work-around. Certainly no amount of restarting NM etc, will help. Logging out and logging back in again will fix it for a few hours, then you'll be screwed again. I suspect, without any proof of knowledge, that the fault hits when you get close to needing to page or reclaim memory. I have 8GB and usually would be at ~7GB in used for applications/VM when it hits. That could just be coincidence though. I have given up expecting any of major Unity bugs to get fixed, so I just live with it until I get my next laptop, which of course will definitely not have Unity. Maybe Mint, or hell, Windows XP would be a step up at this stage :-) In the meantime, if anyone has any work-around that doesn't require a log-out I'd love to hear about it. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1019395 Title: At random times NM applet menu stops responding To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager-applet/+bug/1019395/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1043280] Re: Week 35- Grid highlight window appears covering the full screen
I think this is actually the same bug as bug 1037142. The result is just a little different. Test the following: 1. Open a new window (not maximized) 2. Start workspace switcher 3. Click once on the opened, non-maximized window [Workspace switcher closes] 4. Move mouse to the top edge of your screen 5. An orange grid overlay appears covering whole screen [This bug occurs] 6. Start workspace switcher again 7. Click again once on the opened, non-maximized window [Workspace switcher closes] 8. Move mouse pointer to left edge of your screen [Bug 1037142 occurs] So basically the problem is the same: grid thinks you're dragging a window and when you hit the edge, the orange overlay appears (like when you really drag a window) showing you what's going to happen to the window when you release your mouse. Grid just doesn't know that the window you're supposedly dragging is just a bogus state left behind by the workspace switcher. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1043280 Title: Week 35- Grid highlight window appears covering the full screen To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/compiz/+bug/1043280/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1033263] Re: Ubuntu 12.04 freezes with nvidia drivers
Nvidia just released new drivers. http://www.nvidia.co.uk/object/linux-display-amd64-304.43-driver-uk.html Some of the bug fix descriptions look like a solution for the problems I have (playing youtube videos, or just starting firefox caused problems on my machine/ hangs). Just don't know how to (easily) install these drivers to test them: Fixed a bug that caused pre-release versions of X.Org xserver 1.13 to crash when certain GLX operations were performed, such as when starting Firefox. Fixed a bug that caused VDPAU to hang when expanding the YouTube Flash Player. Fixed a bug that caused gnome-settings-daemon to revert display configuration changes made by nvidia-settings. Updated nvidia-settings to use RandR per-CRTC gamma control, when available. When controlling an X server with support for RandR 1.2, nvidia-settings will display the color correction widget as a tab within each display device page, instead of a per-X screen color correction page. Fixed a bug that prevented the display palette from being updated immediately after an application called XStoreColors. Added the ability to select and move X screens in the X Server Display Configuration page of nvidia-settings via Ctrl-(Left)Click + Drag. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1033263 Title: Ubuntu 12.04 freezes with nvidia drivers To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers/+bug/1033263/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Is there any news on this ? It is quite annoying for some of us that have to deal with the presence of an AD server. I heard somebody confirming that it was OK for him sinci U/G to 12.04 but I would like to keep my float of notebooks on 11.10 for the time being and maybe go to 12.10 later this year. [Bug 1044857] Re: Wrong sine value with openjdk 7 server VM
** Description changed: Some sines values are wrong in java. Using latest Ubuntu (12.04.1 32bits) and latest OpenJDK 7 (7~u3-2.1.1~pre1-1ubuntu3), I get wrong sine values with server VM. When using cacao VM, the results are correct. Correct value is also returned when using Oracle JRE on the same machine and on the .class generated by OpenJDK. No tests done in 64bits. + I'm posting this bug report from a vmware virtual machine, but this bug has been spotted on multiple non-virtual computers. [Bug 1033263] Re: Ubuntu 12.04 freezes with nvidia drivers
This is how I install nvidia drivers (note that you will need to install everytime you upgrade your kernel, since I don't know if there is an automated script) go in tty1 (CTRL+ALT+F1) logon sudo /etc/init.d/lightdm stop (or sudo /etc/init.d/gdm stop) cd directory_where_the_driver_is chmod +x driver_name sudo ./driver_name sudo /etc/init.d/lightdm start (or sudo /etc/init.d/gdm start) have fun (I prefer to reboot the machine when I install a driver, but I'm pretty sure this is not needed) --- Ubuntu Bug Squad volunteer triager http://wiki.ubuntu.com/BugSquad -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1033263 Title: Ubuntu 12.04 freezes with nvidia drivers To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers/+bug/1033263/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1044921] [NEW] Stylist-Windows can't be focussed, not usable
Public bug reported: The dialogs for style definition (font, paragraph, numbering, etc.) can be opened but never get the focus. After opening one of those dialogs, the user is stuck and can't get back. Steps to reproduce (note: I'm using the german UI of AbiWord, so my translations of the menu item names or button captions may not be accurate): 1. Start AbiWord, open new Document. 2. Select Format-Style (Modify Style) from the menu. 3. Styles dialog opens, select either Modify for an existing style or New to create a new one. 4. Modify Style dialog opens. Select one of the items from the Format-pulldown-list (Paragraph for example) in the bottom right corner. 5. The selected dialog (Paragraph for example) opens. 6. None of the items in the dialog can be clicked, edited or given focus via tab-key. The window can't be closed and the previous dialogs can't be closed either. The main menu is still accessible, but the dialogs stay open if the document is closed. Only killing and restarting AbiWord removes the dialogs.
