I had to put following into the smb.conf to get it work (see below). The
core problem is that nautilus does not check these options like it does
in other cases to get something to work. Probably the whole problem is
related to nautilus-share then but I am not sure.

I would say that the 'old' behaviour would be preferable if somoene
choses to have an unconfigured slapd: Instead of failing to start the
service, an empty slapd that is live and can be configured from the root
account would be a bit more user-friendly. This seems to be how slapd
was packaged in
Reviewing all of the comments on this bug report to-date its looks like
there are probably two issues:
1) A potential race condition between cups and samba which means that
samba is unable to lookup the list of printers on startup.
This is indicated by the following log messages in

That patch has been in the autofs[5] package for a while now. Yet the bug is
still there.
