I've checked Serge's fix and it does fix crashes. Now I've pulled latest qemu-kvm git master, and it appears that this patch isn't there... I still have to apply it on top of latest git to avoid crashes. Its no problem for me. I am currently using 3.7rc1 for quantal and it works without problems. The bug exists for previous versions of the kernel. Other users that have the same problem currently can easily install that kernel version.
