A test case with exact steps to reproduce the problem, so that we can verify any backported fix. Confirmation that this is fixed in the development release (Raring). A patch to fix this issue in Precise. Ideally this would be a pointer to the upstream commit and apply cleanly. Discussion of possible regressions to existing users, particularly any change in behaviour that an existing user not affected by this bug might get angry about, and areas where a regression is likely to be found if one does exist so that the SRU verification team can try and find them. All of this information gathered together in one place for the SRU team to review. I am familiar with Kerberos and have spent my share of time debugging DNS-related Kerberos issues, but I'm read through this bug and although I have some idea I don't feel that I'm completely clear on answers to these questions. Public bug reported: If the cipher suite string is unacceptable to GnuTLS, libldap_r-2.4 crashes due to a double free. GnuTLS is extremely picky about the cipher suite strings it accepts; as a first measure, try LDAP cipher suite string SECURE256 or NORMAL. If that stops the crash, then you have encountered this bug. The root cause of the double free is lack of GnuTLS return value checks when calling gnutls_priority*() functions. The code simply assumes they succeed, and when GnuTLS fails to provide a valid context due to those failures, ldap_int_tls_init_ctx() tries to free the never-fully- initialized context. A simple fix is to create GnuTLS security contexts using the configured cipher suite string, instead of NORMAL as openldap/libraries/libldap/tls_g.c now does. If the cipher suite string is invalid, then do not create the context at all. Probably there should be one relased for 12.04.2. Having the same problem here on 12.10 with all updates installed. I fixed my fstab (one filesystem didn't have the check set) and did a touch /forcefsck. After the reboot, the message is still there, stating that my filesystems will be checked on reboot.
