[Bug 967410] Re: Windows clients cannot connect to shared printers
@rickyrockrat The updated fix is in the upload queue : https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/precise/+queue?queue_state=1queue_text= While I would advise against it, you can pickup the packaging files and build yourself a PPA (clicking on the arrow symbol beside the package name will expose the packaging files) until it gets uploaded. [Bug 1016895] Re: smbd crashed with SIGABRT in dump_core()/setgroups being passed a -1 group is causing crashes.
** Description changed: - Sorry for not being of any help here. I don't really know what happened. - There was suddenly a report about a system problem. and apport started. - just updated a few hours ago. + [Impact] + 12.04.2 users cannot share dirs with Samba due to smbd crashing with sys_setgroups failed. + With 12.04.2 shipping linux-generic-lts-quantal, Samba is now completely unusable due to this bug, so an SRU is justified. + The fix has been included upstream and is Fix-Released in the current development versions of Ubuntu (Quantal+). + + [Test Case] + Right click on a folder, e.g. ~/share, from nautilus, and select to share it. + If prompted to install Samba, do so, then logout/login and start over the test case. + Then run `nautilus-connect-server`, select + Type: Windows share, + Server: localhost, + Share: share, + Domain name: WORKGROUP, + User name: your unix username, + Password: your unix password. + + and press the [Connect] button. It will fail, and /var/log/samba/log.hostname will contain an smbd crash with the following lines among others: + [2013/02/18 12:51:16.500421, 0] lib/util.c:1117(smb_panic) + PANIC (pid 7594): sys_setgroups failed + + [Regression Potential] + Since the bug was fixed upstream, and since Samba is now completely unusable, regressions are not very likely. + + + [Original bug description] + Sorry for not being of any help here. I looked about and found that I could pass a '-c' option and that options for ntp are set in /etc/default/ntp in NTPD_OPTS. So I put it in there: NTPD_OPTS='-g -c /path/to/custom/ntp.conf'. It worked. Until I deployed to another box that was receiving NTP settings via DHCP. On that box, ntpd exited with an error because it had received two config files in its arguments. Not good. After reading through the init script, I opted to add a new variable to /etc/default/ntp specifically for holding a custom config file. Attached is a patch that will use that value if DHCP has not created its own ntp.conf. If NTP settings were passed via DCHP, then those settings will override the custom config file. ** Affects: ntp (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Patch added: Patch for /etc/init.d/ntp https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1129696/+attachment/3535713/+files/ntp.diff -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to ntp in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1129696 Title: Cannot set config file in /etc/default/ntp To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ntp/+bug/1129696/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1111470] Re: Crash in dom0 when accessing clipped RAM
The question can clearly answered with yes. The slight confusion was that during all the comments it was not clear to me whether the Quantal kernel was indeed used without or with the dom0_mem option. I took Mike's comment as if it was only *with* this option. Personally I find the usage of unusable for used memory slightly confusing but it would then not be the issue. So if Quantal works even without that option, could you attach the dmesg of a Xen boot on that machine. Probably the difference in output helps to find out which changes make it work. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/470 Title: Crash in dom0 when accessing clipped RAM To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xen/+bug/470/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1073433] Re: Ext4 corruption associated with shutdown of Ubuntu 12.10
Well, network usually does not break by killing dhclient, at least not if the lease does not expire just in this second. If we ignore this race, probably only modem processes are left. But these are not even considered by the add_sendsigs_omissions.patch. The patch only touches nm-dhcp-dhclient.c, nm-dhcp-dhcpcd.c, nm-dns-bind.c and nm-dns-dnsmasq.c. Except for the lease/shutdown race none of these should be required for anything that is already mounted - the kernel nfs client already knows the IP of the server. If we don't want to ignore the lease race and we don't trust NM to kill sub-processes we need a to run killall5 a 2nd time and this time it only must ignore fuse processes. However, if the root file system or /etc or /var are on NFS, we cannot fix this race at all and have to leave it to the admin to provide sufficiently long leases. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1073433 Title: Ext4 corruption associated with shutdown of Ubuntu 12.10 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/upstart/+bug/1073433/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 973874] Re: Misspelling in the installer
Thanks for reporting this bug! First of all, since there is no actual full string, link or screenshot given it is difficult to say if this even is a bug or if it is not. Without having the context from which the translation »Gemeinschaft« comes I would say it is correct in singular not in plural since »Gemeinschaft« usually is the translation of »community« which is always translated in singular. Also this is definitly NOT an Ubuntu bug since Linux Mint uses its own slideshow and installer. You find an overview on Linux Mint translations in Launchpad here: https://translations.launchpad.net/linuxmint/isadora/+lang/de There is also some templates for the installer slideshows on that page. [Bug 1102433] Re: Changing taskbar icon breaks the program
Strange how one month later there are 0 replies, and the number of affected users is 1 (only me)... even tho when I googled my problem I've seen loads of people noticing the same issue. I guess it's easier to just get a replacement instead of submitting a bug report with details regarding the issue to help the devs fix it. Only problem in this case is that the devs have just ignored the bug report. Either because whoever is taking care of knemo isn't working on the project anymore, or maybe since I'm the only one who reported the issue the bug got disregarded as a false bug report. The bug is reproduceable. On Ubuntu Desktop 12.04 (LTS) switch the taskbar icons to any of the sets that display numerical values instead of just a blinking monitor/network card. [Bug 1024507] Re: 12.10 quantal boots to black screen on iMac
Still no resolution of this problem. I have used kernel 3.8.0 under ubuntu 13.04 and am now using kernel 3.7.9 under archlinux. Can boot both OK, using 'nomodeset'. But both still resume to the wrong screen. The log tells me that the kernel, when it starts to sleep, tries to save state with 'vbetool'. That shows an error, no card detected. On resume I suppose there is no info available to allow radeon module to set correct screen; it defaults to wrong video screen and all terminals are black. However, the terms do accept keyboard input. I believe this is a kernel module problem; not an xorg module problem. It affects terminals not running X (and those running X as well). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1024507 Title: 12.10 quantal boots to black screen on iMac To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/1024507/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1028591]
Hello, I'm a also a user of plasma desktop version 4.10. I found out that removing the battery and reinserting it while the user is logged in actually works as expected (shows that the battery was removed and reinserted). the problem appears when logging in without the battery (with AC plugged only) and then trying to reinsert the battery back to the computer actually does NOTHING to the battery monitor and it doesn't recognize that the battery was inserted - though the computer uses the battery as usual (when unplugging AC). As a result the system doesn't warn about critical battery charge and, well, after a while the whole work will be lost because of sudden shutdown. I tried working this bug around by inserting the battery, logging out, logging in again, and here it is the battery monitor is back and fully functional. Hope that helps solving the bug ;-) And btw I've worked with lower versions of KDE and didn't have that bug...
