Re: [Bug 1139159] Re: Postfix does not restart properly when using SSL
Just to note, there was also a single character change (from # to %) in the first line of the patch to change the .NEW from being created as a subdirectory of the target (and thus removed if new=1 ) to being on the same level with .NEW appended (so the next mv succeeds) On Sat, Mar 2, 2013 at 11:57 AM, LaMont Jones lamont.jo...@canonical.comwrote: Finally saw what was meant there. [Bug 1135403] Re: xserver-xorg-video-intel regression (Intel 945GM) [xorg-edgers]
Sounds like whatever was causing your setup to run in clone mode rather than as an extended desktop was also fixed (that should have been an issue caused by something other than -intel). However, libGL does not support hw acceleration to surfaces larger than 2048 on 945gm and so all the GL compositors fail miserably if you exceed that pixel count in any dimension. -intel handles it by using different functions on the GPU that can cope with the larger surfaces, or by splitting the operations into small enough chunks for the 3D pipeline - so that it just works. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1135403 Title: xserver-xorg-video-intel regression (Intel 945GM) [xorg-edgers] To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1135403/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1133401] Re: Provide separate packages for each major version (clang-3.0, etc)
no, it should not, because GCC does it. Older GCC versions are there for front ends not available in newer versions, e.g Dv1, Dv2. Ubuntu is not a software museum, so please give examples why you would need these old versions, and which software cannot be built with newer versions. ** Changed in: clang (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Wishlist ** Changed in: clang (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1133401 Title: Provide separate packages for each major version (clang-3.0, etc) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/clang/+bug/1133401/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1135403] Re: xserver-xorg-video-intel regression (Intel 945GM) [xorg-edgers]
Sorry, I should have added that lack of 3d acceleration is a problem no matter if I'm using my external monitor (which I usually use as single display with the laptop monitor off not in extended or clone mode) or my laptop's built in display. This means I've not been attempting to push 3d graphics to any area larger than the highest native resolution the external monitor supports, and in many cases the much smaller 800x600). Further symptoms include a compete loss of graphics as soon as gnome loads when booting a 3.5.0 (Ubuntu) or 3.70 (edgers) kernel. The same is not a problem when booting a 3.8.0 custom compiled kernel. [Bug 998204] Re: Intel chipset driver bug on Ubuntu certified Dell Latitude E5420: connecting power cord makes kworker run amok
Hi, I have the same laptop at work (E5420) and the same bug, but it's nothing compared to the Samsung NP-R530-JA06FR : The Dell is lagging only when battery is charging, the bug on the Samsung is random, so it's unusable. I tried Ubuntu 12.04, 12.10, amd64 and i386 versions, xubuntu 12.04, the last 3.8.1 kernel and many others. Same results. The origin of the lag seems to be the same for the two laptops : Intel I²C perf report extract on the samsung: - 23,17% kworker/0:1 [i915] [k] get_clock - get_clock - 99,63% sclhi + 80,31% i2c_outb.isra.0 + 19,69% i2c_stop - 18,19% kworker/1:2 [i915] [k] get_clock - get_clock - 99,75% sclhi + 80,22% i2c_outb.isra.0 + 19,78% i2c_stop + 8,90% kworker/0:1 [kernel.kallsyms][k] native_read_ts + 7,03% kworker/1:2 [kernel.kallsyms][k] native_read_ts + 4,94% kworker/0:1 [kernel.kallsyms][k] delay_tsc + 4,67% swapper [kernel.kallsyms][k] read_hpet Is there a way to fix this, even by disabling something like autodetection of external screens? [Bug 512190] Re: apt-get --ignore-missing install fails when it can't find a package
It is clear from the man page that ‘--ignore-missing’ is intended only for packages that exist but fail to download correctly or can not be downloaded at the time. [Bug 1139759] [NEW] DSL can not connected automatically
Public bug reported: Dear Ubuntu, I just install a new ubuntu desktop 12.10 64bit from ISO image, but the DSL can not connect automatically when the computer start up. There is only one interface eth0 on my computer, and this interface connected to DSL device directly with PPPOE(need username and password). I open the Network Connection, and found there is one interface named Auto Ethernet under the tab Wired, and another interface named DSL connection 1 under the tab DSL. I had already config the DSL correctly, and check the Connect automatically on this DSL connection settings, and also connect successfully when I manually connect it. But the DSL can not connect automatically when my computer restart, I notice the Networking is always searching and tring the Wired network interface(eth0 - Auto Ethernet), and after failure it will retry the Wired again, just do not try to connect the DSL interface. When I disable the Networking and re-enable the Networking, it will try to connect the DSL interface and will connect successfully. I had also try to disable the Auto Ethernet's Connect automatically, and disable IPv4/IPv6 Settings, even try to delete the Auto Ethernet, but nothing help. In this same computer, I am before using the Ubuntu 12.04 LTS 64bit, there is not this problem, DSL can connect successfull every time when the computer start. Please help. Thanks very much. [Bug 1090548] Re: package linux-image-3.5.0-19-generic 3.5.0-19.30 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 2
Firstly, my apologies for the delay commenting back about this bug. I have had a busier than normal few months studying for pilot school and since I have three operating systems on this machine, if one of them isnt working when I'm busy I tend to just make do with one of the others until I have time to come back to the problem, hence the delay! I tried the suggestion put forward by Joseph (thanks for that) back in December but it didnt clear the problem. I keep getting the same issue each time 12.10 tries to self update. I tried resubmitting the problem today and the system declined to submit the report because I had already reported it... I think that is a pretty neat feature, so complements to the developers for implementing a common sense reporting path that works! Anyway back to the problem. I still have the same issue with this core package failing to update. Since I originally reported the issue, some things have updated and some things haven't so what I will do right now is attempt Joseph's cleanup command lines again and I will report back in the next 15 minutes or so whether the problem resolved. back shortly... ** Description changed: - [SRU] I intend to provide SRU patches for each of the packages that are - missing libcuda1, but first need the followng: + [SRU] Debdiffs attached for fixing the FTBFS in Precise for the following packages: + nvidia-cuda-toolkit (patch in comment #17) + starpu-contrib (patch in comment #18) + viennacl (patch in comment #19) + [IMPACT] + Packages fail to build from source on Precise because of missing libcuda1 or missing libopencl1. In Ubuntu, nvidia-current satisfies these dependencies, although not explicitly. + + [Test Cases] + Verify that nvidia-cuda-toolkit, starpu-contrib and viennacl are able to build. + + [Regression Potential] + None: packages currently do not build from source. + + + The following SRU has been completed, thank you. nvidia-graphics-drivers (patch in comment #13): [SRU] The attached debdiff backports a single change from nvidia-graphics-drivers 304.51.really.304.43-0ubuntu1 in Quantal to Precise so that packages that Build-Depend on nvidia-current can be built. Currently, nvidia-current fails to install without its recommended dependency nvidia-settings. [IMPACT] When attempting to build packages that Build-Depends on nvidia-current for Precise, the build servers are unable to install nvidia-current and the build fails. [Test Cases] Upload any source package that Build-Depends on nvidia-current; e.g. nvidia-cuda-toolkit, starpu-contrib or viennacl, to the PPA builders targeted for Precise. [Regression Potential] Minimal: the change only affects the installation of the nvidia-current and none of the packages that Build-Depend on it can currently build. Original bug description: Ubuntu 12.04 nvidia-graphics-drivers 295.20-0ubuntu1 In Ubuntu, nvidia-graphics-drivers package provides only nvidia-current and nvidia-current-dev, while the Debian's package provides many separated deb packages as follows: libcuda1 libcuda1-dev libcuda1-ia32 libgl1-nvidia-alternatives libgl1-nvidia-alternatives-ia32 libgl1-nvidia-glx libgl1-nvidia-glx-ia32 libglx-nvidia-alternatives libnvidia-compiler libnvidia-compiler-ia32 libnvidia-compiler1 libnvidia-compiler1-ia32 nvidia-glx nvidia-glx-dev nvidia-glx-ia32 nvidia-kernel-dkms nvidia-kernel-source nvidia-libopencl1 nvidia-libopencl1-dev nvidia-libopencl1-ia32 nvidia-libvdpau-dev nvidia-libvdpau1 nvidia-libvdpau1-ia32 nvidia-opencl-common nvidia-opencl-icd nvidia-opencl-icd-ia32 nvidia-smi nvidia-vdpau-driver nvidia-vdpau-driver-ia32 So, some packages imported from Debian cannot be built or not installable unless their dependencies are modified. For example, nvidia-cuda-toolkit is failed to build because of missing libcuda1. See https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-cuda- toolkit/4.0.17-3/+build/3079987 . I think the separate packages should be provided as in Debian and nvidia-current and nvidia-current-dev should be changed to meta packages which depend on those separate packages. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/950963 Title: some packages fail to build because of missing libcuda1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-cuda-toolkit/+bug/950963/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Sorry for misunderstanding, I thought that question was about Ubuntu installation. Openshot was installed from Ubuntu repos, not from usb stick. Anyway, I managed to solve the problem. I converted the sound stream for all videos it to pcm_s16le, 22050 Hz, 1 channels, s16, 352 kb/s and glitches are gone! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1130920 Title: audio glitches when trying to play To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openshot/+bug/1130920/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1139803] [NEW] Software updater hangs/stops responding when clicking an update that has lots of version changes
Public bug reported: When viewing available updates, if I click on an update that has lots of version changes, then update manager will hang for a while/not respond. It will then come available again. I have noticed this a few times with raring This only happens when clicking updates with lots of version changes, it does not do it with others. I assume it's taking a while to handle/load the changes. This tends to happen with linux kernel updates as they contain a lot fo changes. Also Python3 today. I will leave a comment with the number of version changes that seem to cause the issue. Of course you will need to wait for a large update to reproduce. [Bug 677783] Re: Redshift does not quit upon logout from session
I've been working on an update for gtk-redshift to be able to provide more information to the user. That has meant that I've had to rewrite most of the process management code and for that reason I'm not sure how this discussion applies any more. If you want to take a look the code is here: https://github.com/jonls/redshift/tree/interactive-gui . A sigterm handler is installed and it seems to take care of shutting down the child process properly. However, even with a SIGKILL the child process seems to be shut down seemingly contrary to what David said in #4. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/677783 Title: Redshift does not quit upon logout from session To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/redshift/+bug/677783/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
