[Bug 974963] Re: [soundnua]: hdmi audio missing in sound settings
Ok, let's look again at this bug. First, unfortunately bug 1169984 made it into the 13.04 release, which hits many machines with HDMI audio. So any problems in 13.04 is likely to be bug 1169984. Second, there is a patch "ALSA: hda - hdmi: Make jacks phantom, if they're not detectable" that hopefully fixes most of these errors. What I recommend at this point (to get the above fix without getting bug 1169984 ) is to install the latest HDA driver and reboot ( https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Audio/UpgradingAlsa/DKMS ). If this helps, you're likely being helped by the next proposed kernel in 13.04 too. If this does not help, you can do the following: * Install the hda-jack-retask package from https://launchpad.net/~diwic/+archive/hda * Start the program (run "hda-jack-retask" in a terminal). * Select the HDMI codec in the topmost combobox. (If you have more than one, and don't know which one is right, you might have to repeat the below steps for all codecs.) * Select "Advanced override" * On the HDMI pin that does not show up, click "override", then change "Jack detection" from "Present" to "Not present". * You can then either click "Apply now" and test this right away, or click "Install boot override" and reboot to test. Regardless of this is working or not, report back here and attach alsa- info ( https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Audio/AlsaInfo ). [Bug 1173527] Re: make the i386 *buntu version check for UEFI
64bit computers can run 32bit version of ubuntu. To show warnings, we need to boot. If the 32bit image managed to boot, the system in question does support legacy boot and it is active / being used. Therefore there is no reason for installation to fail. If on the other hand the cd does not boot, one would assume something is odd and we would not be able to show a warning =) Therefore this bug report is in my opinion invalid. ** Changed in: ubiquity (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1173527 Title: make the i386 *buntu version check for UEFI To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1173527/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1174177] [NEW] goldendict on x86_64 gives "Query error: basic_string::erase" after upgrade to 1.0.2~git20120929-3
Public bug reported: When I was using Ubuntu 12.10 with all updates installed goldendict worked fine. After upgrade to 13.04 (goldendict version 1.0.2~git20120929-3) I receive Query error: basic_string::erase error for every dictionary in which result of a search is found instead of the article. I didn't change dictionaries after upgrade, so only application version has changed. [Bug 1173941] Re: Ubuntu 13.04 doesn't start/ show login screen/ after intallation or upgrade
Booting without custom GRUB_GFX* settings, and without the 'splash' option also works. There are some differences with these two methods. With my method, on top left of the screen the cursor is flashing for ~10 seconds and the xubuntu splash screen is shown for short right before the login screen. With your method, the screen is gray for ~10 seconds an then some boot messages appear right before the login screen. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1173941 Title: Ubuntu 13.04 doesn't start/ show login screen/ after intallation or upgrade To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/plymouth/+bug/1173941/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1174169] [NEW] Minimum and maximum cpu frequency are equal
Public bug reported: I just noticed my laptop stared working considerably slower. I am using an updated 13.04, though the issue did not start right after the upgrade. I also grabbed the head of master which was commit 903ce9fefacd828bbcadd656ddaed8984139be29 and compiled with: ./configure '--target-list=x86_64-softmmu i386-softmmu x86_64-linux-user i386-linux-user' '--prefix=/usr' '--with-confsuffix=/qemu' '-- datadir=/usr/share' '--sysconfdir=/etc' '--libexecdir=/usr/lib' '--extra-cflags=-g -O2 -fstack-protector --param=ssp-buffer-size=4 -Wformat -Werror=format-security -D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=2 -Wall' '--extra- ldflags=-Wl,-Bsymbolic-functions -Wl,-z,relro' '--disable-strip' '--disable-xen' '--disable-guest-agent' '--audio-drv- list=pa,alsa,sdl,oss' '--enable-docs' '--audio-card-list=ac97 es1370 sb16 cs4231a adlib gus hda' '--enable-attr' '--enable-bluez' '--enable- brlapi' '--enable-curl' '--enable-curses' '--disable-libiscsi' '--enable-linux-aio' '--enable-rbd' '--enable-sdl' '--disable-smartcard- nss' '--enable-uuid' '--disable-usb-redir' '--enable-vhost-net' '--enable-virtfs' '--enable-vnc' '--enable-vnc-jpeg' '--enable-vnc-png' '--enable-vnc-sasl' '--enable-vnc-tls' '--enable-xfsctl' '--enable-kvm' '--disable-blobs' ('--disable-smartcard' '--disable-opengl' options are removed) and still have the same issue. [Bug 1174162] [NEW] chrome-browser makes gnome-keyring-daemon use 100% cpu
Public bug reported: After upgrading to 13.04, when starting the chromium browser, the gnome- keyring-daemon runs at full CPU load and the chromium-browser has no access to the stored passwords. The issue seems to be known (https://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=98601). I'm personally a bit surprised that Ubuntu 13.04 was released with such a serious problem. The frequently proposed workaround (e.g. https://plus.google.com/110130355317073712944/posts/PckhFj5HUn4) doesn't work because (a) there is no .gnome2/keyrings any more and (b) it's rather inresponsible to store your passwords unencryted. I found that killing gnome-keyring-server several times eventually gives you a working system. --- ApportVersion: 2.9.2-0ubuntu8 Architecture: i386 AudioDevicesInUse: USERPID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC0: mnl 18759 F pulseaudio CRDA: country DE: (2400 - 2483 @ 40), (N/A, 20) (5150 - 5250 @ 40), (N/A, 20), NO-OUTDOOR (5250 - 5350 @ 40), (N/A, 20), NO-OUTDOOR, DFS (5470 - 5725 @ 40), (N/A, 26), DFS DistroRelease: Ubuntu 13.04 HibernationDevice: RESUME=UUID=86292e17-edd2-4a1b-8e1b-5208a1731140 InstallationDate: Installed on 2010-11-10 (900 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.10 "Maverick Meerkat" - Release i386 (20101007) MachineType: Hewlett-Packard HP Compaq 6730b (GB990EA#ABD) MarkForUpload: True Package: linux (not installed) ProcFB: 0 inteldrmfb ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-3.8.0-19-generic root=UUID=cff10fb4-08a2-459b-be12-80698b20d2d3 ro quiet splash vt.handoff=7 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.8.0-19.29-generic 3.8.8 RelatedPackageVersions: linux-restricted-modules-3.8.0-19-generic N/A linux-backports-modules-3.8.0-19-generic N/A linux-firmware1.106 Tags: raring Uname: Linux 3.8.0-19-generic i686 UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to raring on 2013-04-28 (0 days ago) UserGroups: adm admin cdrom dialout libvirtd lpadmin plugdev sambashare voice wireshark WifiSyslog: Apr 29 07:28:34 lipp-nb wpa_supplicant[1803]: wlan0: WPA: Group rekeying completed with c0:25:06:24:93:e1 [GTK=CCMP] dmi.bios.date: 12/07/2011 dmi.bios.vendor: Hewlett-Packard dmi.bios.version: 68PDD Ver.
