I'm seeing the same behavior on an HP 530 laptop (don't have it in front
of me at the moment; it's either a 945GM or 940GML chipset according to
specs) after an upgrade from 12.10 to 13.04. A workaround I've found is
entering the GRUB menu manually and booting with options quiet splash
removed.
I have always set aside a small boot partition of 100 MB.
This appears to be no longer enough.

I have the same issue, and already have a bcmwl driver, I can work with
the Kernel 3.5.7 without problems, and the system was working perfectly
with 12.10, but when I make the update to 13.04 the problem begins. So I
want to know if someone knows a workaround to fix it, or how can i help
to solve

This problem is not with Firefox only. It can be with any window. This is a
possible duplicate with this one:

The freeze happens to the last window that is to be minimized. For
example if you have 2 open apps. If you minimize the first one, no

I am keen to learn if this problem was ever resolved in later kernels.

happened.
Attempting to open chromium-browser manually generated the following

Interestingly, when this error message first appeared, chromium
complained that it could not be run as root unless I set up a new
profile.
But at the same time, a launchpad log-in page opened in Firefox and it
