When I open the file, it opens with a line of text going right-to-left.

Hi,
I didn't realize that, cause I've disabled the suspend option in Gnome
and didn't use it since my last testings.
It seems to be working now! There must have been some update (I've
enabled security, updates, proposed and backports and the XOrg Edgers
PPA) that made it work.

I'm now running precise but with linux-image-generic-lts-raring from
proposed-updates.
Haven't seen a lock up yet so I'm ok!

It took me a white to undertand where the date problem was, but I think
you're referring to this:

This is fixed in the current development version of Ubuntu as it uses
LibreOffice4.
For Quantal I don't need no attention anymore, because I use Raring now and
there it works.
If it is not fixed in Quantal the developers / Ubuntu / Canonical gambles away
their own reputation. It's sad for
