[Bug 1200878] [NEW] Upgrade breaks existing pyjuju deployment

2013-07-13 Thread Colin Watson
Public bug reported:

A recent saucy system upgrade replaced pyjuju with juju-core. Now my
existing deployment breaks as follows:

  $ juju status
error: no CA certificate in environment configuration

No indication of what I'm supposed to do to fix this. Perhaps bug
1178314 is related, but I'm not sure.

Breaking existing deployments is surely unacceptable in a system
upgrade. If this is a general problem and not specific to my deployment
(which has been running for a few months, in Canonistack), then pyjuju
should be restored until the upgrade experience is smooth.

(Fortunately, as I've discovered, /usr/lib/juju-0.7/bin/juju still
works. This still seems rather non-obvious and suboptimal, though.)

[Bug 1200846] [NEW] Notification bubble repeat several times, and start to lag behind when skipping songs

2013-07-13 Thread Martijn vdS
Public bug reported:

Every time a new song comes on, the rhythmbox notification pops up 3-4
times . Sometimes with album art, sometimes without album art, and
sometimes with the wrong album art (that might be a separate bug).

Each one of the notifications stays on for the normal time (10s?). When
skipping songs, the notifications aren't cleared, so when I skip several
songs in a row, I get to watch a backlog of notifications pop up and
disappear for several minutes.

[Bug 1195425] Re: Corrupted screen using radeon drivers

2013-07-13 Thread Raymond Wells
The patch works for me, also.

@Simos: In your install instructions the apt-get line didn't work, so I used
dpkg -i xserver-xorg-video*deb to install the packages instead, and that seemed
to work, although the dbg packages needed to pull in some additional deps, but
it was fine.
$ sudo dpkg -i xserver-xorg-video*deb
$ sudo apt-get install -f

worked for me.

[Bug 1176035] Re: Ubuntu 13.04, the mouse settings will not save

2013-07-13 Thread Katie Biegel
Same problem. 13.04 on Lenovo thinkpad X230. The problem is intermittent
for me; at times, the settings revert immediately after closing the
window; otherwise, they'll be temporarily saved, and then revert upon
reboot. Hitting 'x' versus alt+f4 produces varied and seemingly random
results as to whether settings are saved or not.

[Bug 1160188] Re: ATH9K wireless signal weak

2013-07-13 Thread Timo Jyrinki
Gerry and others: I'll try to give instructions that don't skip any
steps, hopefully it'll help. Steps 2-7 are commands you should just copy
paste in terminal.

1. Open Dash and search for Terminal and open it
2. wget
https://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/projects/backports/2013/06/18/backports-20130618.tar.xz
3. tar xvf backports-20130618.tar.xz
4. cd backports-20130618
5. make defconfig-ath9k
6. make
7. sudo make install
8. (insert your password when sudo asks it).
9. Ready! Reboot the computer.

The new drivers should then be in use, but note you will need to do the
steps 4-7 again if a Linux kernel update comes as a security update or
otherwise.

There should be an error msg.

note that space requirements are pretty individual, so it is hard to define
some generally useful limits.
anyway, i agree that kde could check for disk low situations at startup,
possibly by doing a ratio calculation on the df output or whatever. this is not
kdm's task, though.

Then, there should come up a message Logging you out again because no space

I notice that if /tmp is unwritable (e.g. due to a full disk) the X

So I suggest that kdm adopts some of the sanity checks from
ksmserver/main.cpp

I can't even use a free driver, as none is present in the drivers list.
I have to use the tethering of my cell phone.

Well, actually it may also caused by my router, because sometime my cell

[Bug 1153934] Re: Some radio streams which used to play OK don't play after updating to rhythmbox 2.98 or higher due a gvfs bug

2013-07-13 Thread Achim Vogel
Walter, that might be a quick solution but it is not very comfortable.
I'm using Clementine instead of Rhythmbox in the meantime, which is a
good alternative in my opinion.

That's why I like Linux: A bug in your favourite tool encourages you to
try out another one. Nevertheless I hope that the gvfs bug will be fixed
soon.

[Bug 993187] Re: ubuntu 12.04 completely freezes frequently.

2013-07-13 Thread Tapio Ryhänen
Hi everyone,

I think this bug is not solved on 12.04 LTS. If it's a kernel bug, the
patch should be backported to the latest official 12.04 kernel and
delivered via normal software update.

Some people suggested for example to update to kernel v. 3.3.6 available
here: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.3.6-precise .
That kernel is more than one year old and does not contain many
important security fixes. If start using something like this, maybe
should update to the latest kernel from kernel.org and compile it. I
think most of the users don't want to do that.

I run many computers with 12.04 without problems, but I have fatal and
occasional freezes only with my newest Intel Ivy Birdge laptop. (see
#774)

Hoping for the fix, please. Thanks.

2013-07-13 Thread Oussama Bounaim
Public bug reported:

Please sync osptoolkit 3.4.2-1.1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped:

on install target.
ld --as-needed (LP: #756018)
Fixed in the last version in Debian.

Changelog entries since current saucy version 3.4.2-1ubuntu2:

2013-07-13 Thread Thomas Hotz
Walter completely right what you say, but I would have hoped that here
could have been a better solution for all users in the upcoming releases
of their Distributions. And maybe our Desktop Team could support us a
little bit.

But just that you understand me, I don't want to blame anyone, just
maybe to think about how we handle bugs with many users affected.

Wishing you all a nice weekend :)

note that space requirements are pretty individual, so it is hard to define
some generally useful limits.
anyway, i agree that kde could check for disk low situations at startup,
possibly by doing a ratio calculation on the df output or whatever. this is not
kdm's task, though.

Then, there should come up a message Logging you out again because no space

I notice that if /tmp is unwritable (e.g. due to a full disk) the X

ksmserver will not have a chance to tell anything to the user.

So I suggest that kdm adopts some of the sanity checks from
ksmserver/main.cpp

[Bug 1200896] [NEW] Ad-hoc wifi doesn't appear on scanning devices (perhaps not really created)

2013-07-13 Thread Moran Shimshon

Hi,

I create a shared wifi the usual way and smartphones (other devices)
don't detect it.

It seems to be created and connected to succesfully. I know how it
should look like when it works.

But as I said, no devices can detect it.

Perhaps you can tell by the logs what going on?

I can supply further logs and run tests if needed.

Thanks,

[Bug 1197568] Re: Using the reinstall previous shoppings options in the Software Center doesn't work

2013-07-13 Thread Alberto Salvia Novella
** Description changed:

  **
   HOW TO REPRODUCE
  **
- 1. In a different computer from where you have purchased the Humble Bundle,
in the Software Center go to the File / Reinstall previous shoppings menu
- 2. Go to https://www.humblebundle.com/home.
- 3. Under the Bundles head, select any bundle available for Ubuntu to
install.
- 4. In the opened page for this bundle, click on the Download for Ubuntu
button.
- 5. In the opened page which lists the games in the bundle, click on any
Download for Ubuntu button.
- 6. If you are asked for which application you want the link to be opened
with, choose the Software Center (located in the /usr/bin/software-center
directory, if you need to know).
+
+ WAY 1:
+ 1. In a different computer from where you have purchased the software, in the
Software Center go to the File / Reinstall previous shoppings menu.
+ 2. Try to install already paid software that isn't installed yet.
+
+ WAY 2:
+ 1. Buy an app from a computer.
+ 2. Try to install the app from a different one.

   EXPECTED BEHAVIOUR

  - The application to be installable.

   REAL BEHAVIOUR

  - The application's package cannot be found.

  *
   WORK-AROUND
  *
  - To delete the Software Center key (for example by using the passwords and
keys application), and not using the reinstall previous shoppings feature in
the Software Center.
+
+ **
+ RELEVANT DETAILS
+ **
+ - The Software Center only add commercial ppas in the first sing-on but never
latter, leaving new ppas not being added. So this is why commercial packages
cannot be found.

It's a paper cut.

** Also affects: hundredpapercuts
   Importance: Undecided
   Status: New

** Description changed:

  **
   HOW TO REPRODUCE
  **

  WAY 1:
  1. In a different computer from where you have purchased the software, in the
Software Center go to the File / Reinstall previous shoppings menu.
  2. Try to install already paid software that isn't installed yet.

  WAY 2:
  1. Buy an app from a computer.
