[Bug 1195425] Re: Corrupted screen using radeon drivers

2013-07-27 Thread Raymond Wells
Works for me too :). Still getting some weird errors for input, but
that's another bug ^_^.

@sheridan: There's a PPA here that has the old fglrx drivers... be sure
to heed his warning about Unity though as I did have a bit of issues
getting unity running on my laptop after installing it:

[Bug 1205713] Re: unable to type Greek characters to the dash

2013-07-27 Thread Filippos Kolyvas
Ok, i checked some more things:
My locale settings is el_GR.UTF-8. I dont have a problem with the translation
visibility, Unity and the Dash are translated in Greek and everything appears
as it should, in Greek.
I tried to use the OnBoard screen keyboard to input some greek characters, but
summoning the Dash seems to close the OnBoard application (is that a feature or
a bug?), so i could not test this.
I also tried to type some ASCII-extended characters (eg the "ϕ" character)
using the keyboard, but that was also not possible.
On the other side, copying some text containing greek characters & pasteing it
to the Dash search field works. Characters appear as they normally should, and
search also works (eg. if i copy a filename with greek characters and paste it
to the Dash, the Dash finds it).
Should i add those additional information to the original description?

[Bug 1205769] [NEW] Keyboard shortcut dialog hangs when backspacing

2013-07-27 Thread srihari sriraman
Public bug reported:

This bug was reported to Gimp first
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=704658
But I was asked to report it here because it could be distro specific.

Procedure to reproduce:

- Open the keyboard shortcuts dialog
- Type in something > 3 characters long
- backspace all the way

It takes a very long time, close to 30 seconds, to backspace till the last
character and type again.

Some system information:

$head -n1 /etc/issue:
 Ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS

Linux srihari-laptop 3.2.0-51-generic-pae #77-Ubuntu SMP Wed Jul 24 20:40:32

Not sure if this is useful, but when the keyboard shortcut dialog hangs, I see
this on my terminal:

[Bug 1178505] Re: NetworkManager reverts all bond modes to balanced-rr

2013-07-27 Thread Christopher Edwards
Basically my way around it was to disable network manager
(https://help.ubuntu.com/community/NetworkManager - scroll down to
disabling network manager). Then I followed these instructions
(https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuBonding)

I had attempted this previously without disabling network manager and
would get to a point where I needed the network to be enabled during
boot before login, which was not happening when using the combination of
ifneslave with networkmanager. Basically as far as I could tell, they
were fighting over who was managing networking. This was causing all
kinds of login/home directory mounting issues.

[Bug 1123460] Re: verify-signature crashes on non ascii characters

2013-07-27 Thread Reagan Sanders
patch fixing the UTF issue. We were trying to stick the UTF strings from
the GPG subsystem into plain ASCII format strings. Changed the format
strings to be UTF as well. His test branch seems to work fine now.

[Bug 1205754] [NEW] MP4Box -info doesn't appear to be on stdout. Can't redirect to file or capture in scripts

2013-07-27 Thread Eric Morgan
Public bug reported:

I have scripts that use MP4Box -info to grab video details like
resolution. They have stopped working because the backticks no longer
capture the out of the -info. I also can't redirect the output to a file
using MP4Box -info file.mp4>text.txt. The info is displayed on the
terminal and the text.txt is empty.

[Bug 1205741] Re: The route metrics added "ip route" are not being inherited by route cache entries

2013-07-27 Thread Tim Hartrick
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected precise

** Description changed:

  There is a bug in the the management of inet peers which prevents route
metrics like initcwnd from being inherited by route
  cache entries.  An example:

  $ ip route show
  default via 172.16.231.2 dev eth0  metric 100
  172.16.231.0/24 dev eth0 proto kernel scope link src 172.16.231.26

  $ ip route show cache
  local 172.16.231.26 from 172.16.231.1 dev lo src 172.16.231.26
  cache   iif eth0
  172.16.231.1 from 172.16.231.26 dev eth0
  cache  ipid 0xa13f

  $ ip route change 172.16.231.0/24 dev eth0 proto kernel scope link
  src 172.16.231.26 initcwnd lock 100

  $ ip route show
  default via 172.16.231.2 dev eth0  metric 100
  172.16.231.0/24 dev eth0 proto kernel scope link src 172.16.231.26
initcwnd
  lock 100

  $ ip route show cache
  172.16.231.1 from 172.16.231.26 dev eth0
  cache  ipid 0xa13f rtt 4ms rttvar 4ms cwnd 40
  local 172.16.231.26 from 172.16.231.1 dev lo src 172.16.231.26
  cache   iif eth0

  Note that the initcwnd metric is not being inherited by the cache entry for
172.16.231.1. The problem is that the
  inetpeer cache is not flushed when the "ip route change" occurs. Without
this the metrics in the inetpeer are used
  to build the metrics of the route cache entry even though they are stale.

- A fix for this bug is in the 3.5.0 kernel from quantal. It is a simple
- fix and could be easily applied to the 3.2.0 line of kernels.

[Bug 1205741] [NEW] The route metrics added "ip route" are not being inherited by route cache entries

2013-07-27 Thread Tim Hartrick
Public bug reported:

There is a bug in the the management of inet peers which prevents route metrics
like initcwnd from being inherited by route
cache entries.  An example:

$ ip route show
default via 172.16.231.2 dev eth0  metric 100
172.16.231.0/24 dev eth0 proto kernel scope link src 172.16.231.26

$ ip route show cache
local 172.16.231.26 from 172.16.231.1 dev lo src 172.16.231.26
cache   iif eth0
172.16.231.1 from 172.16.231.26 dev eth0
cache  ipid 0xa13f

$ ip route change 172.16.231.0/24 dev eth0 proto kernel scope link
src 172.16.231.26 initcwnd lock 100

$ ip route show
default via 172.16.231.2 dev eth0  metric 100
172.16.231.0/24 dev eth0 proto kernel scope link src 172.16.231.26 initcwnd
lock 100

$ ip route show cache

Without this
the metrics in the inetpeer are used
to build the metrics of the route cache entry even though they are stale.

A fix for this bug is in the 3.5.0 kernel from quantal. It is a simple
fix and could be easily applied to the 3.2.0 line of kernels.

[Bug 1205633] Re: Xorg stalls out the whole system when surfing with firefox

2013-07-27 Thread Dave Gilbert
Hi Mirko,
  I noticed in your X log file there is a stream of errors like:
[   589.510] (EE) RADEON(0): [DRI2] DRI2SwapBuffers: bad drawable
[   589.542] (EE) RADEON(0): [DRI2] DRI2SwapBuffers: bad drawable

can you figure out if they correspond to your stalls? I think if you
were to look at /var/log/Xorg.0.log before your stall and then after and
see if it had gained these errors it would be good to help figure out if
the two are related.
