[Bug 1050021] Re: autofs failed to mount .hidden
Hi, I confirm this bug. I'ts a real pain. Even more when using executable maps as we do, because autofs blindly obeys to mounting a share that doesn't exist on the server side (shouldn't autofs know it ?). Here's our executable /etc/auto.nfs map : #!/bin/bash user_group=$(id -n -g $1) echo -fstype=nfs4,rw,sec=krb5 server:/home/NFS/$user_group/$1 It works fine when the map is called with username when mounting its home directory. But sometimes, it's Kate (text editor) that's trying to access /home/.kateprojekt or /home/.kateconfig files instead of /home/user1/.kateprojekt and /home/user1/.kateconfig and then it fails. It's worse than that : it freezes the text editor and even the whole KDE desktop. That's what autofs is triyng to mount in this particular situation : /home/NFS//.kateprojekt on /home/ Tried this with Ubuntu 13.04 server and client and Fedora 19 too and same errors happens. On Fedora 19 I even get error about /home/.Trash and /home/.Trash-x and /home/.hidden etc I'm now on production with all my students and teachers beeing impacted by this bug. There seems to be 2 problems here : 1. Autofs should better handle mount errors. 2. Kate should record its configuration in the right path : /home/user1/.kateprojekt and not /home/.kateprojekt Hope someone pays attention to this and fix this really soon. Let me know if I can help / try your fixing. [Bug 1185756] Re: drbd8-utils not compatible with linux-lts-raring kernel in 12.04
@Numérigraphe, thanks for the quick testing. To answer the question from #12 first: The version used by that package depends on the version of the kernel. So just upgrading kernel to 3.8 (or later) and booting with that kernel will cause the 8.4 utils part to be used. This unfortunately does some automatic change to the on-disk meta-data (as mentioned above). So while upgrading the kernel causes no issues, trying to boot back into an old kernel will cause a failure to bring up the drbd device. It looked to be possible to force it back but then caused a complete re-sync. Please note that when using kernel 3.2, the tools have actually been DOWNgraded from 8.3.11 to 8.3.13 I think you might have meant to say to 8.3.10. Yes it seems kind of odd as I would have expected the latest version in Raring to contain also the latest legacy version. Need to check whether there was smaller update in Precise and whether that can easily be merged. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to drbd8 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1185756 Title: drbd8-utils not compatible with linux-lts-raring kernel in 12.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/drbd8/+bug/1185756/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

Dnsmasq doesn't consider the DNS servers to be primary and secondary. They're both equivalent, and which ever answers fastest will be used. Every so often, the race is re-run, with a query sent to all servers, and the one which answers first becoming the new preferred server. It's possible to change this behaviour to something more like what you're expecting with the strict-order dnsmasq config flag. It's possible that was set in Raring and is no longer in Saucy, or you might just have been lucky before. Leaving it to the Ubuntu devs to answer that. [Bug 1226855] Re: Cannot use open-iscsi inside LXC container
Thanks for your reply, I'll chat with Robert and Clint to see if any of these solutions is reasonable for us. As a reference point, here's the setup we're using: Host has 2 VMs: An LXC and an qemu VM The host has the iscsi_tcp module loaded, which then can be seen and used for the iscsi daemon within the container. Now, what we're attempting to do is provision the qemu VM via the LXC container using OpenStack's baremetal provisioning tools in a virtualized environment (no nested KVM!), so loosely the procedure is: the LXC container boots the qemu image (we have a nifty power driver) and gives it an address via dnsmasq-dhcp, loads up some things via dnsmasq-tftp (this all works) and then we use iscsi to copy data to the qemu VM. Robert or Clint can chime in with more details (or to clarify/correct!). Today I ran through the test again and connected to the iscsid daemon inside the container for your strace, attached is the output from: strace -p 1488 -o iscsid_strace_baremetal.txt ** Attachment added: iscsid_strace_baremetal.txt https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lxc/+bug/1226855/+attachment/3845437/+files/iscsid_strace_baremetal.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to lxc in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1226855 Title: Cannot use open-iscsi inside LXC container To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lxc/+bug/1226855/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1227313] Re: Error parsing lxc-start apparmor profile
Note the medium priority is because this is an uncommon use case. There is no way around this though if you do need to do this, so perhaps it should be high priority. ** Description changed: + = + SRU Justification: + 1. Impact: cannot start containers with read-only proc + 2. Development fix: remove \n from /proc/pid/attr/current contents. + 3. Stable fix: cherrypick development fix. + 4. Test case: + a. lxc-create -t ubuntu -n u1 + b. sudo sed -i '/proc/s/nosuid/,ro/' /var/lib/lxc/u1/fstab + c. echo lxc.aa_profile = unconfined | sudo tee -a /var/lib/lxc/u1/config + d. apparmor_parser -R /etc/apparmor.d/usr.bin.lxc-start + e. sudo lxc-start -n u1 + 5. Regression potential: none, this only makes us ignore the \n at end of /proc/pid/attr/current file + = + The lxc-start package reads its apparmor profile from /proc/$PID/attr/current but does not remove the trailing newline character. When trying to run an unconfined container, this causes comparisons with the unconfined string in the source code to fail, and the apparmor profile is set, even when there's no need to do so. This, in turn, makes it impossible to run containers with a read-only /proc filesystem. [Bug 482623] Re: Apple keyboard - F buttons don't work
I don't know if this is still open or not as it has been a while since the last comment. I did have a few things to add that may be related to some of the problems described. First I have a Macbook Pro about 5 years old now. While there are function keys they do not operate as function keys by default. Instead they are used to control the screen brightness, volume, keyboard backlight, etc. To use them as function keys you have to hold down the fn key next to the left control key as mentioned in an earlier comment. This can however be changed in System Preferences Keyboard. Just check the box that says Use all F keys as standard function keys. If you do this then the behavior is reversed. All function keys work like function keys and if you use the fn key next to the left control key they will then operate screen brightness, sound, etc. In addition to knowing about this setting and it's effect you also may need to disable some Keyboard shortcuts as the operating system may be using them. This is done again under System Preferences Keyboard under the Keyboard Shortcuts tab. The last thing is this. I was able to use F2 to open a new window but I could not split the window with Shift-F2 or Control-F2. This drove me mad until I found a setting to fix this. I use the built in terminal app in OSX. If you go to the preferences menu in the terminal app you will see a few buttons at the top. Under the settings button there are a few sub sections on the right side such as Text, Window, Shell, Keyboard, Advanced. Go to the Keyboard section and you will see a list of keys and the action they are mapped to. For me the F2 key was mapped to \033OQ. I noticed though that there was no mapping for Shift-F2 or Control-F2. This must be my issue right? So I found a byobu config file at /usr/share/byobu/keybindings/f-keys.screen. In this file I found that Shift-F2 was expecting O1;2Q and Control-F2 was expecting O1;5Q. The ^[ is the escape key which in the terminal app is \033. So I then added the mappings in the terminal app so that Shift-F2 was \033O1;2Q and Control-F2 was \033O1;5Q. After doing that I could now split windows. So it seems that for some reason the apple terminal app simply did not send the sequence byobu was expecting. There may be other keys as well that you need to map in the terminal app. I assume that other terminal applications may have similar settings that need to be configured. While this may not be relevant I have to ask. How can I find out what sequence a program is expecting? While I found this f-keys.screen file for byobu I have not been able to find out the information I need for other programs. For instance tmux without byobu. Is there an all inclusive list of what sequence a key should send somewhere? For instance I need to know what to send for Control-Left, Control-Right, Alt-Left, Alt-Right and others. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to byobu in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/482623 Title: Apple keyboard - F buttons don't work To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/byobu/+bug/482623/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1112907] Re: abort with wireless HID devices: A handler is already registered for battery
I made two patches which both address this problem. The first one is a direct workaround for this particular bluetooth HID issue where the kernel creates new native sysfs devices for those after each nap. This would even still be relevant if the kernel gets fixed to actually do send out remove events properly, as we don't really want upower to signal device removals/additions all the time. Pro: unintrusive as it does not change behaviour for all other kinds of devices, suitable for a stable release update Con: rather hackish, and does not guard against similar problems with other device types ** Patch added: patch V1: less intrusive, hackish https://bugs.launchpad.net/upower/+bug/1112907/+attachment/3843896/+files/0001-linux-Work-around-unstable-sysfs-names-for-bluetooth.patch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1112907 Title: abort with wireless HID devices: A handler is already registered for battery To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/1112907/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1112907] Re: abort with wireless HID devices: A handler is already registered for battery
This second version is a bolder step, but I think it's the right thing to do. It's a little more risky than the first one, but I (and the test suite) are fairly convinced that it's correct. Pro: addresses this kind of problem for all device types under Linux, and avoids D-BUS signalling device removals/additions from upower where the device itself did not really go away, just the parental USB/bluetooth tree structure changed Con: More intrusive, could theoretically cause regressions (but I have no idea how, as upower already only uses the device name for building object names) Both patches have detailled commit messages which explain their rationale. @Richard: I recommend the second patch, but I posted both to get you a chance to compare. ** Patch added: patch V2: generic solution https://bugs.launchpad.net/upower/+bug/1112907/+attachment/3843905/+files/0001-linux-Track-power_supply-devices-by-name-only-instea.patch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1112907 Title: abort with wireless HID devices: A handler is already registered for battery To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/1112907/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
