2013-10-05 Thread Sam Hartman
Stefan, I've prepared packages that should fix the problem available at
https://launchpad.net/~hartmans/+archive/ubuntu-fixes
that page includes instructions on how to add the archive to your system.
After you do that please update at least libgssapi-krb5-2 and let us know
whether it fixes the problem.

Ubuntu review team, it turns out that the debian/saucy patch does not
apply to precise. I've linked a branch of a proposed precise package.
Let me know if there's anything else I can do to assist the process.

[Bug 1235681] [NEW] squid3 always run with -N option, incompatible with SMP option (workers)

2013-10-05 Thread Michael Opdenacker
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I switch to Ubuntu 13.10 to enjoy a version of Squid more recent than
3.1. (it's 3.3 in 13.10)

My currrent version is 3.3.8-1ubuntu3

One of the reasons for switching was support for SMP (Squid3 running
multiple instances of itself in a native way).

However, even if you put workers 8 (for example) in
/etc/squid3/squid.conf, this option is not enable because Squid3 is
always started with the -N option (no daemon mode), which is
incompatible with the workers option.

See http://www.squid-cache.org/Doc/config/workers/ for details.

One option is to remove the -N option in /etc/init/squid3. This option
could be put in /etc/default/squid3 for people who really want it.

However, this is just a quick and dirty work-around, as after this
change, stopping the service with service squid3 stop no longer works.
You have to manually kill the squid-coord-X process. Therefore, extra
rework is needed in /etc/init/squid3.

That's all I have for the moment. Better workarounds and solutions are
welcome! I'll post more if I have any.

Cheers,

Michael.

The upgrade has aborted. Your system could be in an unusable state. A
recovery will run now (dpkg --configure -a).

Setting up dovecot-core (1:2.1.7-7ubuntu2) ...
You already have ssl certs for dovecot.
However you should move them out of /etc/ssl
and into /etc/dovecot and update the configuration
in /etc/dovecot/conf.d/10-ssl.conf accordingly.

Hard to say why this bug report was assigned to bsd-mailx. I guess
Abhängigkeitsprobleme - lasse es unkonfiguriert means that there were
some problems with dependencies, but DpkgTerminalLog.txt does not
contain any information about which package failed.

[Bug 1235563] [NEW] HP DeskJet 930C fails during print; USB-to-Parallel - not detected by HPLIP

2013-10-05 Thread G4JC
Public bug reported:

Hello,
This printer is detected in Ubuntu/CUPS, however it will not actually print
anything succesfully. It prints about half the page and then has an error and
stops printing altogther leaving the page in a half-inky mess. The printer
works perfectly on Windows XP etc.
I ran hp-check and was unable to get this device detected properly by HPLIP
after a considerable amount of trying; the device is plugged in via a
USB-to-Parellel port: Bus 004 Device 002: ID 067b:2305 Prolific Technology,
Inc. PL2305 Parallel Port

Useful config files attached. HP-Check Notes: dbus and libusb are
installed but not detected. I also added my username to the lp and
lpadmin group, which appears perfeclty in users groups but keeps
throwing an error on lp group for me regardless.

I read here: http://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/62523/how-to-
install-a-printer-that-is-connected-via-an-usb-to-parallel-port-adapter
-- that it may be possible to do some hardcoding to make it work, but it
didn't look like the correct way of doing it. So I am hoping someone
will be able to properly debug this issue.

Thanks in advanced! :)

[Bug 1214638] Re: [Asus UX31A] Linux 3.8.0-27 Linux 3.8.0-29 render system unbootable with black screen of death

2013-10-05 Thread Christopher Barton
I have reason to believe that this issue is now resolved for me with
Linux 3.8.0-31, which appears to be the healthiest kernel so far without
resorting to trying the mainline kernel.

After already a number of boot-ups, I'm pleased to say that I've not
suffered from any black screen of death problems as I did with the
kernels mentioned in the title of this bug report.

For me at least, this bug may be closed.

Kind regard and thanks
Christopher

2013-10-05 Thread Christopher Barton
This bug appears to have been resolved for me at least with kernel

Re: [Bug 1217189] Re: Buffer I/O error on device zram0

2013-10-05 Thread Steve Dodd
Hence why I said I/O errors on *write*. If the block dev layer reports
an error to the VM on page-out, it knows the data hasn't been correctly
written.

I'm not sure zram actually allocates the whole amount of memory it's
configured to use, initially:

steved@xubuntu:~$ free
 total used free sharedbuffers cached
Mem: 20507961473456 577340 0 254232 696144
-/+ buffers/cache: 5230801527716
Swap: 2975088 208482954240
steved@xubuntu:~$ swapon -s
FilenameTypeSizeUsed Priority
/dev/zram0 partition 1025396 20848 100
/dev/mapper/lvg2-swap partition 1949692 0 -1

At the very least, free seems to know it's cache memory. Don't know
whether that's merely a presentation thing, need to look at the code.

Anyway, the SNR here is getting awful, and I don't want to contribute to
it. Anyone who wants to can contact me privately via LP.

Mel, the reason I do NOT believe this is a duplicate of # 1215513 is
that many get error messages (including I/O errors in some cases)
WITHOUT a hang. But any time I see I/O error on any disk, whether
hardware, ram or simulated [i.e. network], there's a chance of data
corruption, even without crashes. Please reconsider.

Steve, you also mention I/O error messages. Once again, that could
corrupt data, the WORST TYPE of error, in my NOT SO humble opinion.
(Think about it: If SWAP data comes back in, and your bank balance
changes from 5000 to 500,000, you might THINK you have more in your
account than you do, causing mishaps in International Finance.
[Example used, due to how badly your life could be hurt].

My personal solution is to come up with ONLY a Root Text console [yes,
Ubuntu users aren't SUPPOSED to become real Root, but I've been doing
this sort of thing since the 1990's], rmmod zram [with prejudice, if
possible], and I'm prepared to do a permanent rename of the correct
name of the module, as soon as I get around to it. [Visions of Round
 Tuits...]

A point I made earlier: Even if a SWAP partition is NOT made out of
/dev/zram0, part of RAM is being reserved for nothing.

 Thank you and best regards,

[Bug 1235586] [NEW] liberoffice ctrl-C ctrl-F ctrl-S combinations not working while national layoyt active

2013-10-05 Thread peerus
Public bug reported:

I used to have this bug with geany editror in my old install. But after
i've made clean install of ubuntu gnome 13.04 and upgraded it to 13.10
this bug appeared while working with libreoffice. If my active keyboard
layout is En - everything is just perfect. If i'm on Ru-ssian layout
ctrl-C ctrl-F ctrl-S don't work at all. Geany is working without any
problems.

   New

 Bug description:
5-15% of packages downloaded through apt-cacher-ng are corrupt with a
Size mismatch or Hash Sum mismatch error, reported by the client.
Apparently, the corrupted files on the cache host in /var/cache/apt-
cacher-ng are not corrupt but contain a different package than the
filename suggests. For example, python-apt_0.8.3ubuntu7.1_amd64.deb is
   in fact xz-lzma_5.1.1alpha+20110809-3

Not sure how to debug this further.

I use apt-cacher-ng on various hosts on various isolated environments.
Some apt-cacher-ng installs yield a higher size mismatch frequency
than others, which might indicate a race condition. The ones with
lower error frequency have higher uplink speeds and higher cpu speeds.

[Bug 1235602] [NEW] virt-manager cannot create pool with active logical volumes

2013-10-05 Thread Vladimir Skubriev
Public bug reported:

When I install a whole new system with ubuntu 12.04 disk I setup
libvirt-bin and virt-manager to create a virtualization server with this
software.

But later I got an error when want to manipulate with lvm libvirt pool
througth virt-manager.

I deleted pool for check if an error of mispelled configuration of a
pool. But this nothing to help me to resolution a problem when after I
want to create a new one with an active lvm volume group.

Which is also used as system volume group.

I mean that I has a one big lvm group over raid1 mdadm, which name is
bigraid.

And This volume group has the following logical volumes:

1. Host server root filesystem (/dev/bigraid/serverrootfs)
2. Host server /var/log filesystem (/dev/bigraid/serverroot_var_log)

3. Virtual machine 1 filesystem (/dev/bigraid/vm1)
4. Virtual machine 2 filesystem (...)

and etc.

I cannot deactivate a volume group on a production server for let
libvirt using some logical volumes for its needs. I think this is not
correctly behaviour.

I can create or/and delete a poll with an unactive volume group
normally. I have another volume group at other mdadm raid. I can
manipulate it without problems.

Therefore I decided to report an error at launchupad.

This error occurs when i want to create a pool via virt-manager:

[Bug 1088146] Re: Asus n56vz battery state is wrong or battery not charging at all.

2013-10-05 Thread David Nyström
Upgraded to AMI BIOS 217 with saucy, and the battery issues I've seen has
disappeared.
Battery is now charging correctly to full, not discharging when charger is
connected.
And the battery LED Seem to behave correctly now, previously I had the blinking
red all the time.

Keyboard lights can not be altered anymore via Fn-F2/F3 but thats a good
tradeoff.

[Bug 1072004] Re: hdmi/DisplayPort for amd 7410M is limited to 2 channels

2013-10-05 Thread madbiologist
AMD has just released HDMI audio documentation and the upstream ALSA
developers have written patches which successfully enable multichannel
audio over HDMI on AMD hardware. This feature will be available in the
upstream 3.13 kernel. A PPA of this kernel will eventually be available
at http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/ and instructions on
how to install and uninstall it are available at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds

Note that the final 3.12 kernel is not released yet. The 3.13 kernel
will follow.

[Bug 1191600] Re: User namespace is not enabled in raring kernel

2013-10-05 Thread Eduardo dos Santos Leggiero
** Tags added: lxc

** Tags added: user-namespace

** Description changed:

- lxc-checkconfig reports that user namespace is missing in raring 32 bit.
+ lxc-checkconfig reports that user namespace is missing in raring.

  uname -a:

Note : Before booting a new kernel, you can check its configuration
  usage : CONFIG=/path/to/config /usr/bin/lxc-checkconfig

This may be caused by the kernel config used in this package:

  CONFIG_UTS_NS=y
  CONFIG_IPC_NS=y
  CONFIG_PID_NS=y
  CONFIG_NET_NS=y

that is, CONFIG_USER_NS was not selected in the kernel configuration.

For comparison, similar section in the kernel config of 64-bit Precise
  (12.04) looks as follows:

  CONFIG_NAMESPACES=y
  CONFIG_UTS_NS=y
  CONFIG_IPC_NS=y
  CONFIG_USER_NS=y
  CONFIG_PID_NS=y
  CONFIG_NET_NS=y

- User namespace is the only one missing in the 32-bit version vs. 64-bit
- version.
-
As result, lxc-start of a container with lxc.id_map is not possible
  (clone() returns EINVAL).

  Thanks.

[Bug 1234743] Re: omapfb module floods system with udev events on samsung galaxy nexus when playing mp4

2013-10-05 Thread Colin King
Enabling Mir with VSYNC disabled in the omapfb driver leaves me in a
state with just a blank screen. I can login via adb shell, so I need to
debug this a bit deeper.
