[Bug 1134103] Re: [SRU] log flooded with cannot get STP status on nonexistent port messages

2013-10-13 Thread Dave Walker
@James Page, this upload is blocking your MRE upload which has been in
the queue since 2013-09-03.

As this MRE upload also includes this bug, and this one hasn't yet
received satisfactory verification - we could drop this upload and
progress directly to the MRE.. but this issue would still need
verification.

Would you agree that this would be best action?

Thanks.

[Bug 995719] Re: process_name.rb removed in 2.7.11 but still provided by puppet-common

2013-10-13 Thread Dave Walker
Hello Haw, or anyone else affected,

Accepted puppet into precise-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at
http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/puppet/2.7.11-1ubuntu2.5 in a few
hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

I've tried with and without this options (dell-m6-amic) without luck.
Yesterday i've installed latest alsa driver (ppa night build), but without luck

@anna koukouraki (fganko)
Havent found any packages with sound drivers. There was something like that for
wireless and video drivers.

Re: [Bug 668145] Re: Font preferences not available anymore, internal font changed

2013-10-13 Thread Lorenzo Marcantonio
On Sun, Oct 13, 2013 at 04:28:58AM -, Daniel Santos wrote:
From a cursory examination of the Gerber spec (which I've never worked
with before). It looks like the appropriate way to render an arbitrary
font from it's vector representation is to render each non-contiguous
shape of each glyph as a single contour (enable region mode with G36,
draw the contour and then end the region mode with G37). Now this is
 tricky for many reasons.

The recommended way to render arbitrary images/fonts in gerber (and
AFAIK the approach used by every CAD supporting truetype fonts in
gerber) is using horizontal rasters. Usually the raster pitch is wide as
the aperture or maybe half of it for better edge quality; also the
raster approach actually follows the mechanics of the silkscreen process
(which *is* done on a raster of wires...)

I did a proof-of-concept demo some year ago (about when we switched from
the 'squared' font) but the idea wasn't pursued for lack of interest
(and display performance reasons, too).

Another reason is that the plotting infrastructure need to implement
text in postscript/PDF too and that is even more tricky than gerber.

[Bug 1239290] [NEW] Evolution: Font colour on active buttons for 'Mail', 'Contacts' 'Calendar', Tasks' and 'Memos' is white and hard to read easily

2013-10-13 Thread Phil Wyett
Public bug reported:

Evolution: Font colour on active buttons for 'Mail', 'Contacts'
'Calendar', Tasks' and 'Memos' is white and hard to read easily.

This falls under a design issue and a problem that for those who wish to
make the app as easy to read for those with minor or more advanced
accessibility issues. The font is white on active buttons and I believe
would be far better and more readable in black against the grey gradient
background within the default themeing.

[Bug 927515] Re: Thunderbird stuck at 100% CPU

2013-10-13 Thread Edmo
Hello,
I am using ubuntu 12.04 LTE and Thunderbird 24.0.
Probably due to some automatic ubuntu update; now, when I start Thunderbird it,
freezes after a few seconds and the CPU goes 100%..
After reading the other comments I made a copy of the ImapMail folder in
.thunderbird/*.default and then deleted it.
The problem dissapeared.
Hopes this helps,
Ed

Here is the output, so far it looks good, all folders are named in
german. Anyway the issue and the english folder are still there:

cat ~/.config/user-dirs.dirs

# If you want to change or add directories, just edit the line you're
# interested in. All local changes will be retained on the next run
# Format is XDG_xxx_DIR=$HOME/yyy, where yyy is a shell-escaped
# homedir-relative path, or XDG_xxx_DIR=/yyy, where /yyy is an
# absolute path. No other format is supported.
#
XDG_DESKTOP_DIR=$HOME/Schreibtisch
XDG_DOWNLOAD_DIR=$HOME/Downloads

XDG_PUBLICSHARE_DIR=$HOME/Öffentlich

  Dokumente).

As a result I have two Documents folders. One called in english the
  other in german.

The really big problem is that they contain different files and do not
share the files with each other.

  Steps to reproduce:
  1.Install the system in US-English
  2. After finished installation use the system settings - Language to set the
language to german
  3.Restart the system
4.After login the system ask if the standard folders in the home folder
directory should be renamed: Choose yes, rename in german
5.See that instead of renaming the old Documents folder still exist and
just a second (in german) Dokumente folder was created.
  6. See taht the contained files a different for both folders

Expected: The renaming should be a renaming and not a creation of a
second standard Document folder in a different language(here: German:
  Dokumente)

[Bug 1239306] [NEW] USB keyboard does not work in the pre-boot environment

2013-10-13 Thread Jacob Nielsen
Public bug reported:

This makes it impossible to enter the password for an encrypted root
partition.

To reproduce:

- Attach a USB keyboard (I tried Logitech MK 320 and diNovo)
- In grub, add break to the recovery mode kernel line and boot
- You get a busybox prompt, but no functional keyboard
- You do not get disconnect/connect messages when replugging the keyboard
receiver but you do get them when plugging in a USB flash stick

Re: [Bug 668145] Re: Font preferences not available anymore, internal font changed

 Is this anything?

Extracting the outlines from a TT is not difficult, actually... freetype
can give it to you ready to plot (FT_Outline_Decompose), you only have
to mess a little with quadric/cubic curves. The problem is that the
result at the small sizes used for silks and stuff is... well,
disappointing. That changes of course if you have access to photo-silk
instead of true silkscreening...

Also the cut-in feature for gerber fill seems a little tricky to use.
The problem outlined in pages 50-51 of the specs make me think a lot of
experimentation and care is needed.

I think it could be done (good quality results are not guaranteed,
anyway...). There *is* a reason for the major cad manufacturer to
recommend stroke fonts in place of outline ones.

[Bug 1239315] [NEW] ubiquity does not display interface

2013-10-13 Thread Matthijs ten Kate
Public bug reported:

When running saucy final beta from a USB stick (option Try Ubuntu before
installing), ubiquity does not show an interface when started. As a result,
Ubuntu cannot be installed.
- Double-clicking the icon on the desktop seems to produce no result (nothing
happens)
- Clicking on the 'Install Ubuntu 13.10' icon in the shortcut bar on the left
side has the same result (none)
- Running ubiquity gtk_ui from a terminal fails:

Ubiquity is already running!

- After doing a sudo killal ubiquity and then running ubiquity
gtk_ui again, no warnings are displayed, but the ubiquity user
interface still does not show.

After killing ubiquity again (from another terminal, CTRL+C does not
work), the terminal shows the following information:

Terminated
umount: /var/lib/polkit-1/localauthority/90-mandatory.d: not mounted

- Also tried running ubiquity (without gtk_ui) from the terminal - same
result (none)
- Also tried running sh -c 'ubiquity gtk_ui' from the terminal - same result
(none)

[Bug 1185165] Re: KDE does not see that Suspend-to-ram is supported.

2013-10-13 Thread Søren Holm
This is not present in the daily build so I guess a reinstall is the way
to go. Still - I wonder what might be wrong with my system. It is
installed as 12.10 and upgraded through development of 13.04 and 13.10.

[Bug 948188] Re: Failed to install drivers for Broadcom Corporation BCM4312 wifi in live session

2013-10-13 Thread Alberto Milone
Has this ever worked? The broadcom driver needs to blacklist drivers in
the intramfs (thus requiring a reboot) so that the open driver is not
loaded on some systems.

What does the following command says after you install the driver with
Jockey?

dkms status

[Bug 1239019] Re: Jockey is failing to list any nvidia drivers

2013-10-13 Thread Alberto Milone
Your system has the so-called hybrid graphics. We only support that in
12.04.3 (i.e. with the lts-raring stack). Please make sure to follow the
instructions reported here:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Config/HybridGraphics
