[Bug 1073410] Re: Package referenced by apt-get that does not exist / kernel module not loaded

2013-10-24 Thread PranavS
IF none of the solutions are working, try following:

apt-get install --reinstall iscsitarget-dkms

This re-installs the iscsitarget dkms and resolved problem for me.

Maybe this can go in the manual as well!

Cheers,
PS

[Bug 216847] Re: sshd will not start at boot if ListenAddress is set, because network interface is not yet up

2013-10-24 Thread Dirk Schuster
I tested on 12.10.

Unfortunately the solution from Claus interferes with the network
manager. On my 12.10 system I wasn't able to handle the eth0 by the
network manager any more.

As I don't like arvitrary sleep times, I figured out a solution just
changing the start on line in /etc/init/ssh. It works very well for me
in 12.10..

I add this patch in a moment. It would be fine if someone would test it
and confirm it.

Users of other ubuntu versions might have to change the line
accordingly.

[Bug 1181790] Re: looking in /usr/lib/cgi-bin instead of /etc/awstats

2013-10-24 Thread Stuart Langridge
I've just experienced this same problem; awstats was correctly looking
at my conf file /etc/awstats/awstats.my.domain.conf and then it stopped
working -- turning on -debug=2 (easier than strace!) shows that awstats
started looking in /usr/lib/cgi-bin for the conf file. I'd changed
various things about my awstats conf, so I don't know what I did that
tripped the problem. I have worked around it by explicitly specifying
the whole path to the conf file, so awstats -config
/etc/awstats/awstats.my.domain.conf -update, which works. Quite why
-config my.domain now does not work is baffling. I can confirm that
the problem is not about user permissions on files: awstats is
explicitly looking in /usr/lib/cgi-bin for conf files, and I run the
command as root.

[Bug 1244272] [NEW] Consider setting ServerKeyBits 768 to 1024

2013-10-24 Thread ScottMiller
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 13.10 has the following setting:

/etc/ssh/sshd_config

ServerKeyBits 768

Would it be possible to make the default 1024 to add more security benefit:

ServerKeyBits 1024

1024 is the default in the upstream openssh project and the value used by other
mainstream distros.

http://www.openbsd.org/cgi-bin/man.cgi?query=sshd_configsektion=5

ServerKeyBits
Defines the number of bits in the ephemeral protocol version 1
server key. The minimum value is 512, and the default is 1024.

[Bug 1244026] Re: curtin block-meta selects first entry in unordered list

2013-10-24 Thread Scott Moser
** Description changed:

+ == Begin SRU Info ==
+ [Description]
+ Very stupidly, curtin obtained a list of unused devices in a dict where the
key was the device shortname, and then selected the first device in that list
to install to:
+  devices = {'sda': {'entry1': 'value1'}, 'sdb': {'entry2': 'value2'}}
+ selected = [f for f in devices][0]
+
+ The problem there is that the dict is not sorted.
+ The solution to correctly implement this simplistic heuristic is:
+  devices = {'sda': {'entry1': 'value1'}, 'sdb': {'entry2': 'value2'}}
+ selected = sorted([f for f in devices])[0]
+
+ [Impact]
+ By default, installs via curtin to a system with more than one disk were not
reliably selecting the first disk for installation as intended. Selecting the
wrong disk resulted in system not booting on reboot after installation.
+
+ [Test Case]
+ Deploy a system with curtin via MAAS and see it fail because it installs to
/dev/sdd or /dev/sde (in the case there were 4 or 5 disks).
+
+ After fix, the install will be done to /dev/sda.
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+ Very low. curtin would correctly install the target device only randomly with
the chance going down with each additional disk on the system. This correctly
implements the simplistic behavior of pick the first available device.
+
+ == End SRU Info ==
+
curtin block-meta gets a list of unused devices as a dict.
turns the dict to a list
  and then takes [0]

  but that is unsorted.

[Bug 1244301] Re: lxc-attach stopped working for docker containers

2013-10-24 Thread Serge Hallyn
Thanks - I assume that the docker containers are started with 'lxc-start
... -f cofnigfile'. That is the trigger for the use of the anon
lxcpath, which also caused autostart to fail. The git commit you cite
is indeed the fix for this. Ill fix this in trusty and SRU to saucy.

[Bug 1244301] [NEW] lxc-attach stopped working for docker containers

2013-10-24 Thread kiorky
Public bug reported:

I think
https://github.com/lxc/lxc/commit/69733b5dd27e6963267ff6473d9b41dfb59a3f0f has
fixed this bug and am requesting for a new release of lxc in saucy and trusty.
The main blocker is that docker containers are hitted by
https://github.com/dotcloud/docker/issues/2278 where lxc-attach can no longer
attach to them.

Thanks !

[Bug 1244026] Re: curtin block-meta selects first entry in unordered list

2013-10-24 Thread Adam Conrad
Hello Scott, or anyone else affected,

Accepted curtin into saucy-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at
http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/curtin/0.1.0~bzr94-0ubuntu1.13.10.1
in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

[Bug 1243403] Re: Upgrade from qemu 1.0+noroms-0ubuntu14.11 fails

2013-10-24 Thread William Kelly
Hello Serge,

I am sorry! I put this bug in on the saucy package, because I believe
it is what the cloud archive repository is using to provide openstack
packages for precise. I should have been more clear, and I apologize if
this bug is filed against the wrong project -- the packaging situation
for cloud archive confuses me.

In any case, I am using the openstack grizzly precise release in cloud
archive, testing upgrades to the havana precise release in cloud
archive.

The issue is easily reproduced by installing qemu from grizzly cloud
archive, adding a havana source, and performing apt-get upgrade.

Is this the right place to report this bug?

Re: [Bug 1243403] Re: Upgrade from qemu 1.0+noroms-0ubuntu14.11 fails

2013-10-24 Thread Serge Hallyn
Hi,

If this only affected the cloud archive updates then the bug would
probably belong against the cloud archive itself (if that exists
as a project), since normally you must update from p to q to r to
s, which works fine. However it IS valid against the ubuntu qemu packages
because, once trusty is released, LTS-to-LTS updates from precise to
trusty would break.

I've just pushed the fix to trusty. I think it's SRU-able to saucy
because fixing it with a delta in the cloud archive would be more
maintenance work later as more bugs get SRUd.

[Bug 1244343] Re: Regression in system fallback for date_default_timezone_get()

2013-10-24 Thread Robie Basak
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

Confirmed. I can reproduce on 5.5.3+dfsg-1ubuntu2 using the test case in
bug 1069529.

Assuming this was inadvertent and not intentional, we can add a dep8
test to catch future regressions together with any fix.

[Bug 1166994] Re: [SRU] need to use generic kernel for highbank on ARM

2013-10-24 Thread Andres Rodriguez
** Summary changed:

- need to use generic kernel for highbank on ARM
+ [SRU] need to use generic kernel for highbank on ARM

** Description changed:

In raring, highbank has switched to using the generic kernel flavor.
This will require some changes in MAAS - at least in maas-import-pxe-
  files.
+
+ [Impact]
+ In raring+ the arm kernel is armhf/generic instead of armhf/highbank. This
means that maas needs to be able to also handle armhf/generic
+
+ [Test Case]
+ 1. Install maas
+ 2. maas-import-pxe-files
+ 3. Check that armhf/generic kernel is downloaded.
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+ Minimal. It only allows armhf/highbank kernel to be downloaded and allow the
tools to handle it.

+
+ [Impact]
+ No having the option enabled by default causes DNS/DHCP to misbehave when
managed by MAAS. This option needs to be added when installing from CA/
cloud-pocket tools, however, in order for it to hit the CA needs to be SRu'd.
+
+ [Test Case]
+ 1. Install maas
+ 2. check that /etc/maas/templates/dhcp/dhcpd.conf.template has the option
enabled.
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+ Minimal. This won't affect saucy at all, but it is required for the
cloud-archive (which uses the latest from saucy).

[Bug 1244439] [NEW] After installing the keystone, its not able to sync with mysql DB

2013-10-24 Thread Kush
Public bug reported:

I am trying to configure NOVA on my UBUNTU 12.04 machine.
I installed Mysql and created keystone and other users required for openstack
on work.

Please find below mysql users created :

Type 'help;' or '\h' for help. Type '\c' to clear the current input
statement.

mysql select User,Host from mysql.user;

| keystone | localhost|
| nova | localhost|

It has Keystone user and I can very well login from my shell as keystone
user.So there is no problem with my permissions issues.

System is running with below keystone versions

[Bug 930962] Re: dhcp3-server reports many bad udp checksums to syslog using virtio NIC

2013-10-24 Thread Robie Basak
This issue also affects the debian LXC template in Ubuntu (lxc
1.0.0~alpha1-0ubuntu11). If I create a Debian jessie container on Ubuntu
Saucy, then the container cannot DHCP.

Workaround: sudo iptables -t mangle -A POSTROUTING -o lxcbr0 -p udp
--dport bootpc -j CHECKSUM --checksum-fill

It looks like the Debian bug is http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-
bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=717217

Is there any way a workaround could be applied to lxc in Ubuntu -
perhaps something specific to the Debian template? I wonder if the
template could arrange for an iptables inside the container to mangle
the incoming DHCP packet or something.

I can confirm this in 13.10. Often when using dash some race condition
occurs and the whole unity interface gets distorted with a logoff
through terminal only solution. My zeitgeist-fts starts at 140 mb and

[Bug 1237519] Re: Grub2 fails to install to non-standard device path

2013-10-24 Thread Joshua Aune
In the case where you are using the SATA disk to load grub then boot to
the ioDrive:

Is it using the grub/ directory off the SATA disk or ioDrive to get grub
up and going?

Is it pulling the kernel and initrd off of the SATA disk or the ioDrive?

Just wondering if it could be finding the grub files and kernel+initrd
off the SATA drive and then after the kernel+initrd are loaded off the
SATA disk the it looks at the root= and does the pivot root to the
ioDrive (which the linux driver properly finds).

I tried to grock the grub.conf provided but am not familure with the
intricacies of the search parameter which I suspect is what determines
where it is pulling the grub/ files from...

[Bug 1072120] Re: ~/.Xmodmap not read on login

2013-10-24 Thread Dirk Schuster
yesterday I opened a very similar sounding bug in saucy (13.10):
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1243642
(I don't know if the affected project suggested by the apport-bug process is
correct nor if a relation has to be added. help welcome.)

I additionally discovered:

... that by switching the keyboard layouts using gnome-control-center
region layouts the mappings of the xmodmap ~/.Xmodmap will be lost
again. Then another manual execution of xmodmap ~/.Xmodmap has to be
executed and it works again.

Perhaps this information is of any help for this bug.

Is there anybody here who has switched to saucy in between and would like to
test and confirm the effects I discovered in
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1243642
?
@Christian: What about you?

thanks Dirk
