[Bug 1250003] bug 1250003: Failure to install Post fix

2013-11-14 Thread Brian Slinger
Very many thanks for reply. Herewith screenshot of the result. Your
remedy was successful. And I learned a command that may well be of great
value in future

Please note that when I successfully reconfigured Postfix, I had little idea of
what information to supply to answer the  questions but I will study the
manuals etc. in my own time and edit as appropriate. For info, currently I read
and write emails from the website/Firefox so there is no panic.
As regards what happened previously, I got the first screen but there was no
way to make a selection or to press OK.

Regards and thanks again
Brian Slinger

[Bug 1250922] Re: dhclient: No DHCPOFFERS received

2013-11-14 Thread Robie Basak
Thank you for taking the time to file this report and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

I appreciate the problem you're facing, but it isn't clear to me that
this is a bug, and you haven't provided enough information to pin
anything down. At the moment it seems that you're still investigating,
and I don't think you're likely to get much assistance with this on this
bug tracker.

https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/isc-dhcp will show you recent
updates to the DHCP client. You may also want to consider any kernel
updates you recently applied, in case there has been a regression in
your NIC driver.

If you think there has been a regression in an update, then you should
pin down the version that caused the regression by examining your update
logs and trying downgrades appropriately.

You can find pointers to get help for this sort of problem here:
http://www.ubuntu.com/support/community. This should help get your
questions about debugging your problem to a wider audience.

Marking this bug as Incomplete, to reflect that this bug cannot make
progress without further information.

[Bug 1251237] [NEW] SpamAssassin's URI_OBFU_WWW rule claims www.tuning-net.ru is an obfuscated URL

2013-11-14 Thread Jens
Public bug reported:

Mails containing this URL will be scored higher (depending on the set
score, IIRC it's 2.5 for URI_OBFU_WWW plus 2.3 for FSL_RU_URL if
activated).

A manual test using perl and the URI_OBFU_WWW rule regex confirms this:

 perl -ne 'print if
 /(?!http:\/\/)\b_*w{2,3}(?!\.[-\w]+\.(?:com|net|org|biz|info))[^[:alnum:]]{1,3}(?:DOT+[^[:alnum:]]{1,3})?[[:alnum:]][-\w]{1,20}[[:alnum:]][^[:alnum:]]{1,3}(?:DOT+[^[:alnum:]]{1,3})?(?:c\s?o\s?m|n\s?e\s?t|o\s?r\s?g|b\s?i\s?z|i\s?n\s?f\s?o)_*\b/i;'
   Mail1.txt
 www.tuning-net.ru

This URL should not be detected as obfuscated. It is plain text and
looks OK (non-obfuscated).

[Bug 903752] Re: [MIR] sssd

2013-11-14 Thread Didier Roche
ok, forget about:
 * libdhash-dev binary and source package is in universe
 * libcollection-dev binary and source package is in universe
 * libini-config-dev binary and source package is in universe

they are all from djing-libs (not obvious from the name) ;)

However, there are still the 2 (now easy then) questions:
* libpam-dev does not exist (pure virtual?)
* what is going to pull it in main?

[Bug 903752] Re: [MIR] sssd

2013-11-14 Thread Didier Roche
Hum, I just ran check-mir on sssd and it seems quite some build-deps are
still not in main with the latest release, Timo can you have look
please?

 * libpam-dev does not exist (pure virtual?)
 * libdhash-dev binary and source package is in universe
 * libcollection-dev binary and source package is in universe
 * libini-config-dev binary and source package is in universe

 * libsasl2-modules-ldap is in universe, but its source cyrus-sasl2 is already
in main; file an ubuntu-archive bug for promoting the current preferred
alternative
- I don't think that one will be an issue
 * libpam-pwquality is in universe, but its source libpwquality is already in
main; file an ubuntu-archive bug for promoting the current preferred alternative
- same, shouldn't be an issue (as per your other request)

Also, what is going to pull sssd to main, will it be directly seeded?
Thanks! Feel free to just reassign the MIR to me directly once you answered
those questions

[Bug 1250398] Re: Cloudstack userdata not working with 0.7.3-0ubuntu2

2013-11-14 Thread Pierre-Yves Ritschard
Hi,

The culprit is the upgrade of boto from 2.3.0 in 13.04 to 2.9.6 in 13.10. To
fetch userdata, cloud-init relies on a utility function
from boto.utils, the URL building method has changed in boto and now includes a
trailing slash. I've reported the bug upstream, but manually constructing the
cloudstack user-data URL in DataSourceCloudStack in cloud-init would also be
worthwhile, since changes in the way EC2 behaves would not impact cloudstack
deployments.

The upstream issue in boto is registered at:
https://github.com/boto/boto/pull/1856

Re: [Bug 1251352] [NEW] lxc fails to start on boot but succeeds with a manual boot

2013-11-14 Thread Serge Hallyn
Indeed if you remove the lxc.name option, the container starts but
with two network interfaces. So lxc is loading two copies of the
configuration file.

[Bug 903752] Re: [MIR] sssd

2013-11-14 Thread Timo Aaltonen
thanks for the review, now the answers;

libpam-dev is build-depended by 82 packages, but I've changed it in git
now to use 'libpam0g-dev | libpam-dev'

I don't think this will be seeded (in the image?), it was just generally
requested that SSSD to be moved in main to make it clear it's supported.

[Bug 1247723] Re: [Samsung NP900X3C-A02US] Lid state changes not detected

2013-11-14 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Սահակ, to maintain a respectful atmosphere, please follow the code of
conduct - http://www.ubuntu.com/project/about-ubuntu/conduct . Bug
reports are handled by humans, the majority of whom are volunteers, so
please bear this in mind.

With this in mind, as skilled developers know, the purpose of a
regression test is to find out if this is simply a matter of reversing a
commit, build on the foundation of the regression commit, or this has
happened as far back as one could test (typically Lucid). This type of
information is vital to a developer in diagnosing and fixing the issue.

As well, I've seen regressions go unfixed as back as far as Jaunty/9.04,
going into current kernel releases.

Hence, presuming asking for a regression test is unreasonable is counter
productive to getting a bug solved.

Regarding usb-creator-gtk crashing, this is a known issue -
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/usb-creator/+bug/915626 .

A WORKAROUND to burning an ISO to USB is:
sudo dd if=custom-backup.iso of=/dev/sdb ibs=10M obs=20M

where the following is replaced by your ISO name:
custom-backup.iso

[Bug 1198664] Re: resume fails with Failed to open a session for the virtual machine Win7. No error info. Result Code: NS_ERROR_CALL_FAILED (0x800706BE) Component: ProgressProxy Interface: IProgress {

2013-11-14 Thread Carsten Oberscheid
I have this problem on my new Ubuntu 13.10 install. No problems before
on 12.04. Both with Unity.

A few days ago I found in a thread somewhere else (VirtualBox forums?
Forgot to bookmark and can't find it now ...) that this only happens
when the VM is stopped by closing the VM window by keyboard shortcut
(Alt-F4 or Ctrl-Q). Close the window by clicking the (x) or using the
window menu, and the VM will resume successfully.

Still annoying as heck, because I /always/ close Windows with ctrl-q and
can't get used to do it the other way. Whether this is a VirtualBox bug
or an Ubuntu/Unity bug, I don't know.

changing the graphics card (if it were a hardware problem), and even
using another monitor.

Yes, I did not install any package after installing fedora. Just the
default installation.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install fedora 19, kde, or run from live disk
2. Go to display settings
Actual Results:
The display settings have nothing inside it, just the standard buttons, ok,
cancel etc.

Expected Results:
Show the current display options. The monitors attached.

Don't have any now, tell me which commands to run, i'll give the
outputs.

2013-11-14 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it
would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers
of the software by following the instructions at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. If you have done so, please
tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a
bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance.

[Bug 1250838] Re: pulseaudio stops playing sound

2013-11-14 Thread Towbes
Another strange symptom to add: When playing Pandora in Google Chrome,
the audio will stop as describe above. When I change the profile in
configuration in order to get the music playing again, Pandora acts as
if I hit the next button and moves to the next song regardless of
progress in the current song. Not sure how those are related, but they
do seem to indeed be related.

[Bug 1249571] Re: Segmentation fault on Ubuntu 13.10 when using guiqwt

2013-11-14 Thread Ningfei Li
Hi Scott,

I just find a fixed package here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pyqwt5/+bug/1243102 that solves my
problem!
It seems it's a problem with python-qwt5-qt4 rather than python-qt4. At least
my guiqwt package works fine now.

[Bug 1251164] [NEW] xchat crashes with BadDrawable (invalid Pixmap or Window parameter) error in .xsession-errors

2013-11-14 Thread Dave Russell
Public bug reported:

Recently (last few weeks?) xchat has started crashing overnight. The
only errors reported that I can see is the text below in the .xsession-
errors log.

It's working fine when I go to bed, however it's not always there when I
come back to the machine ~8 hours later.

The program 'xchat' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadDrawable (invalid Pixmap or Window parameter)'.
  (Details: serial 4377476 error_code 9 request_code 14 minor_code 0)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

[Bug 1116098] Re: [MIR] grilo

2013-11-14 Thread Juan A . Suárez Romero
It is not that we need to finish them: we need to write them from
scratch. The tests you see were just an attempt to start, but never
success.

So forget about there tests directory: i'm going to remove that for
next release.

But, if the question is: grilo does not have any test, and should, my
answer is: totally agree.

[Bug 1164557] Re: [Lenovo ThinkPad R60] Laptop to hot - VID to high

2013-11-14 Thread Rainer
Hi,

this is not easy to answer.

As I start with Ubuntu 10.x on my laptop I got hot problems at load. I
start then to add some packages (I not rember more which one) an dthe
problem disapears!

I have done an update to the second 10.x and I don't have any problem.

After updating to Precise first I see no problem, but short after I
occurs. This is because in normal usage, like internet writng viewing, I
got no problems. When I start cpu load activity like a lot of graphics
or video work the laptop overheads an hangup.

I tried to figure out if I have done some mistake, like wrong governor
packages i.e. Also google gave no solution. One interestin point is: I
use the package thinkfan. I have it customized just after starting the
overheating problems at the beginning. After updating to Precise I found
that thinkfan was configured to use the fan in the level 0-7. Which
means max 3900 fan speed. So I found using google that there is a fan
level disengaded (which brings an fan speed 5800. I activate this under
precis for the first time. But this don't help to prevent overheading.
At 68°C cpu temp run my fan with 5800 revolution, what he have never
done before Precise.

This seems to be a serious and useable Linux problem: I often get
computer hangups if I use different Linux live system on many computers
to do a offline backup. When I then run parallel partimage tasks for
different disks those computers hang. I guess overheating. Running the
partimage for the disks in serial get no problem.

To circumvent my problem I have writen a pearl script which monitors the
cpu temp every 10s and switch to governor powersave at 82°C and back to
conserative at 73°C.

Hope this explains in dead what happens regards Rainer

[Bug 1251165] [NEW] Boot-up typically opens to blank gray greeter screen

2013-11-14 Thread Dallman Ross
Public bug reported:

...But not always. Sometimes the boot-up gets to a normal greeter
screen. Often as not, though, I get a blank gray greeter screen. I can
type my password blindly and get in to the GDM, usually. But sometimes I
can't -- because I can't see the underlying screens and have to guess
what field I'm typing into, etc.

I can go to a console via Ctr+{[1-6]} and restart the GDM and then the
greeter screen is normal and I can log in normally.

Also, between screen modes at boot-up and on entering the GDM, there is
ugly flickering and screen garbage that lasts a good second or so.

[Bug 1251169] [NEW] during compilation with -O2 a function call is moved to the wrong place

2013-11-14 Thread Shkarnikov Sergey
Public bug reported:

OS: Ubuntu 12.04.3 LTS
clang version: 3.0-6ubuntu3

In the attached code the function foo2 has a side effect on its second
argument. So, despite the fact that value of v1 has been previously set
to 0, foo1 sould return 0. But if this code was compiled with -O2 (or
higher optimization level) foo1 returns 1.

Decompilation shows that after optimization the call of foo2 is placed
after the check (v1!=0).

I have a similar-looking problem after some update in Ubuntu 12.10,
persisting after an upgrade to 13.04. Reproduces on 3.8.0-33, 3.5.0-43,
3.5.0-40 and 3.5.0-40, so it might be not directly related to the kernel
version.

I'm also on an AMD card, Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI Caicos

[Bug 1244941] Re: Mousewheel scrolling does not work

2013-11-14 Thread yossarian_uk
The bug is still applying to me - should the update have fixed this ?

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/oxygen-gtk3/+bug/1246676 - my
bug, a duplicate of this bug..

I am running

gtk3-engines-oxygen:amd64 - 1.2.0-0ubuntu1.1

And I still cannot use the mouse wheel in evolution if I create a new
message . The scroll wheel works on the main screen just not on new
messages.

If I change to any other theme the issue is not there.

So this bug may still be present (its easy to test)

[Bug 1239710] Re: indicator-datetime or -session missing ~10% of the time

Those new packages resolved the problem in my case.

The new package for indicator-session is only available in saucy-updates

Check in software properties that you have this repository enabled and
check the installed versions with this command:

apt-cache policy indicator-session indicator-datetime

[Bug 1250534] Re: Linker option -Wl,-Bsymbolic-functions

2013-11-14 Thread Picca Frederic-Emmanuel
** Description changed:

  Hello Ubuntu team,

I am a user of the libtango8 package available in Ubuntu repository. Since
Ubuntu 13.10, this library is built with the option
-Wl,-Bsymbolic-functions. This generates problems for this software. In
previous Ubuntu releases, it was not the case and the software worked nicely.

In its source package, in the debian/rules file, there is this line

  export DEB_LDFLAGS_MAINT_STRIP=-Wl,-Bsymbolic-functions

which should prevent the use of this -Wl,-Bsymbolic-functions option
when building the package but it seems that it is not true anymore.

  Is it a Ubuntu bug?
Is there something we can do with the package developpers?

[Bug 1251178] [NEW] qdbus: could not exec '/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/qt5/bin/qdbus': No such file or directory

2013-11-14 Thread Mechanical snail
Public bug reported:

Release: Ubuntu 13.10 (32-bit)

Package versions:
qtdbus 4:4.8.4+dfsg-0ubuntu18
qtchooser 26-3ubuntu2

Expected behavior:

The `qdbus` program runs.

Actual behavior:

If I run the `qdbus` program, it always crashes:

user@host:~$ qdbus --help
qdbus: could not exec '/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/qt5/bin/qdbus': No such file or
directory

The `qdbus` executable is actually:

user@host:~$ ls --full-time $(which qdbus)
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 9 2013-08-07 14:48:40.0 + /usr/bin/qdbus -
qtchooser

Note that `/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/qt4/bin/qdbus` exists and seems to
work if I invoke it directly.

There's a `qdbus-qt5` package in the universe repository. It was not
pulled in as a dependency, but manually installing it fixes the issue.
Therefore it's either a packaging error or a bug in qtchooser.

I confirm emacs24 and emacs-snapshot are affected in Ubuntu 13.10.

Please add info to
https://bugs.launchpad.net/emacs-snapshot/+bug/1251176
and
