[Bug 1235231] Re: plymouth loses output to /dev/console (such as ci-info: messages)
I think the cloud-init *binary package* should add these .override files as conffiles. While the issue of messages going missing may affect systems other than cloud images, it's precisely the cloud images where a) plymouth adds no value, and b) the impact of messages going missing from the console is highest. And dpkg-divert is not the right tool for this. The .override files should be created in the postinst, and removed in postrm (when called with $1 == remove || $1 == purge); but this should absolutely not involve dpkg-divert. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to cloud-init in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1235231 Title: plymouth loses output to /dev/console (such as ci-info: messages) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cloud-init/+bug/1235231/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 1235231] Re: plymouth loses output to /dev/console (such as ci-info: messages)
Steve, Do you think this can be fixed in plymouth correctly? If not, and you still would recommend .override files which of the following solutions would you think is best (or another you suggest): A.) 'disabler' package built by 'plymouth' source package (sugg name: plymouth-disabler) B.) 'disabler' package built by 'cloud-init' source package (sugg name: cloud-init-plymouth-disabler) Then, which mechanism for disabling would you think is the best solution: 1.) cloud-init installation of .override files via dpkg-divert in postinstall script 2.) cloud-init-plymouth-disabler package built by cloud-init Personally, it seems to me that 'A' is better than 'B', but I completely defer to your judgement on 1 or 2. RE: [Bug 1101657] Re: Microsoft 7000 My Favourite Keys 1-5 not working, only working on 4000 (of which I have both)
Hi Yeah I will gather everything needed to run the tests. I have everything on a daily rolling back up so I can always re install 12.10 as that has worked the longest without any re install so far so i kinda left it and was going to upgrade soon. I will get back to you directly after I have upgraded to the new version of UBUNTU and the latest kernel. At the moment I am fixing my bathroom and have no bath/shower as the floor boards have rotted and installing a new bathroom suit at the same time. so it might be a couple of weeks before i do the tests with UBUNTU Regards, John Date: Wed, 20 Nov 2013 01:12:37 + From: christopher.m.penal...@gmail.com To: j.p.hill...@hotmail.co.uk Subject: [Bug 1101657] Re: Microsoft 7000 My Favourite Keys 1-5 not working, only working on 4000 (of which I have both) j.p.hillier, could you please confirm this issue exists with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ . If the issue remains, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p linux replace-with-bug-number Also, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available (not the daily folder) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue.Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. [Bug 487826] Re: Etherboot floppy boot terminal appears to load image and failed with 'Issuing RESET:' on 9.10
I propose that we completely remove support for NBI images from ltsp-trunk. Copy from my mail to the ltsp-developer list: AFAIK, NBI (Etherboot) support has been broken for years: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ltsp/+bug/487826 I want to remove all of the NBI code from ltsp-trunk, so I'm proposing this commit: http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~alkisg/+junk/ltsp/revision/2500 This touches files like dhcpd.conf from all distros, so please stop me from committing it if NBI images still work for you. As for a workaround, * I think some etherboot clients support booting from pxelinux.0 (I had this in mind in the planned commit), * While for older etherboot clients that don't support pxelinux.0, someone that has such a client should create an ipxe.nbi wrapper, post it to our wiki and document how to change dhcpd.conf to boot from that. I'll wait for a few days for feedback; if there's none, I'll go ahead and push. [Bug 1253003] [NEW] Sync wxwidgets3.0 3.0.0-1 (universe) from Debian sid (main)
Public bug reported: Please sync wxwidgets3.0 3.0.0-1 (universe) from Debian sid (main) All changelog entries: wxwidgets3.0 (3.0.0-1) unstable; urgency=low * New upstream release! (Closes: #613431, #492896) + Incorporates all our patches. + __WXDEBUG__ is now on by default, so our -dbg packages now just contain detached debugging symbols. (Closes: #655251) + Upstream tarball is now DFSG-free, so we no longer repack it. * The wxwidgets2.8 source package was based on wxPython sources, but wxwidgets3.0 is based on wxWidgets. The major motivation is we don't want to wait until wxPython 3.0.0 is released to package wxWidgets 3.0.0, but it's probably better overall anyway. Currently the -doc package is gone (as these docs aren't in wx source code distribution), but this should reappear in the near future. * debian/control: Drop conflicts against packages (or versions of packages) which no longer exist in any supported Debian or Ubuntu release. -- Olly Betts o...@survex.com Tue, 12 Nov 2013 11:38:12 + [cut old changelog entries] ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1253003 Title: Sync wxwidgets3.0 3.0.0-1 (universe) from Debian sid (main) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1253003/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1218973] Re: XPS 12-9Q33 touchpad not recognized
Benjamin Tissoires, hid driver developer, contacted Andrew Duggan of Synaptics. They are still working on it. Linux input mailing list post: http://www.spinics.net/lists/linux-input/msg28282.html It is located here: https://github.com/mightybigcar/synaptics-rmi4/commits/rmihid As mentioned by Andrew, any feedback are welcome. In Raring with kernel 3.8, the touchpad did work, but the touchscreen and wifi did not. Since kernel 3.10, touchscreen is detected by i2c-hid kernel module, but also the touchpad. However, according to the kernel maintainers, the i2c-hid mode driver for Synaptics touchpad is missing. That's why it's is not detected as a touchpad. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1218973 Title: XPS 12-9Q33 touchpad not recognized To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1218973/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
