[Bug 1254931] Re: open-vm-tools-dkms 2013.09.16-1328054-0ubuntu2: open-vm-tools kernel module failed to build [error: incompatible types when assigning to type ‘kgid_t’ from type ‘int’]
Here is a patch I use to compile the open-vm-tools modules on trusty (linux 3.12). It's a mix of a patch I found on the internet [0] and some changes for uid_t - kuid_t and gid_t - kgid_t based on information I found in the linux headers. So it would be good if someone familiar with the kernel took a look on this patch. I mostly use the vmhgfs module to mount the shared folders from VMWare and didn't have an problems with this patch yet. 0: http://dominator008.com/constructionyard/2013/10/03/vmware-9-0-2-vmblock-patch-for-linux-kernel-3-12/ ** Patch added: open-vm-tools-linux-3.12.diff https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/open-vm-tools/+bug/1254931/+attachment/3931681/+files/open-vm-tools-linux-3.12.diff -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to open-vm-tools in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1254931 Title: open-vm-tools-dkms 2013.09.16-1328054-0ubuntu2: open-vm-tools kernel module failed to build [error: incompatible types when assigning to type ‘kgid_t’ from type ‘int’] To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/open-vm-tools/+bug/1254931/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 1262029] Re: package samba4 4.0.0~alpha18.dfsg1-4ubuntu2 failed to install/upgrade: ErrorMessage: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 126
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 988509 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/988509 Thank you for your report. I'm not sure that this can be considered a bug in Ubuntu. Specifically, the samba4 package description against version 4.0.0~alpha18.dfsg1-4ubuntu2 (shipped with 12.04) says: These packages contain snapshot versions of Samba 4, the next-generation version of Samba. These should be considered _experimental_, and should not be used in production. So I think it would be expected in 12.04 for you to sort out your previous samba 3 /etc/smb.conf or otherwise resolve the situation yourself. On the other hand, samba4 is default in the current development version (2:4.0.10+dfsg-4ubuntu2) so there should be fewer problems with this version and the bar for a problem being a bug is lower there. ** Changed in: samba4 (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba4 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1262029 Title: package samba4 4.0.0~alpha18.dfsg1-4ubuntu2 failed to install/upgrade: ErrorMessage: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 126 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba4/+bug/1262029/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1222670] Re: [nVidia GTX645][10de:11c4] Unable to boot to desktop with nvidia-319 driver
According to the log there are two graphics cards on a desktop system. Jockey tries to offload rendering to the discrete card. This, however, should not happen on a desktop system, where I would expect users to use the NVIDIA card directly (and have the monitor connected to it). When LP: #1259237 is approved, nvidia-prime will do the offloading only when dealing with a laptop. The ideal solution would be to disable the integrated card from the BIOS. We should probably also update Jockey so that it doesn't provide the nvidia driver on desktop systems with Intel+NVIDIA. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1222670 Title: [nVidia GTX645][10de:11c4] Unable to boot to desktop with nvidia-319 driver To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-319/+bug/1222670/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Here is a patch I use to compile the open-vm-tools modules on trusty (linux 3.12).
** Changed in: samba4 (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1262029 Title: package samba4 4.0.0~alpha18.dfsg1-4ubuntu2 failed to install/upgrade: ErrorMessage: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 126 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba4/+bug/1262029/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . I have classified this bug as a bug in linux (kernel). When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu- bug' and the name of the package affected.
