2014-01-31 Thread Marc Deslauriers
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears
to be a regular (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.
Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

[Bug 1274944] [NEW] maas-dhcp-server should be configured to start after all network interfaces it serves are up

2014-01-31 Thread James Page
Public bug reported:

The maas-dhcp-server upstart configuration starts on the standard
runlevels, but the dhcpd daemon is configured to listen on specific
network interfaces only.

If this is not the first network interface, the dhcpd server can fail to
start correct.

'start on net-device-up IFACE=the right one' would make sense -
probably as an override (/etc/init/maas-dhcp-server.override)

[Bug 1274947] [NEW] juju lxc instances deployed via MAAS don't have resolvable hostnames

2014-01-31 Thread James Page
Public bug reported:

When using juju managed lxc instances with the MAAS provider, the
physical hosts end up with dns resolvable hostnames, but the lxc
containers do not.

It would be nice if MAAS could do more generic DNS management and just
add DNS entries for all DHCP clients that have presented a hostname.

Some services (such as rabbitmq when natively clustered) depend on
having resolvable hostnames.

[Bug 1274527] Re: MAAS doesn't put its DNS server in resolv.conf

2014-01-31 Thread Andres Rodriguez
So we have discussed this before and the reason why this hasn't been
addressed is:

1. resolv.conf gets updated automatically by network manager in some cases,
hence this will cause the change to be lost.
2. This is only required when juju is being used from the MAAS region
controller, meaning that the client should configure it's resolv.conf when
pointing to a MAAS server.

Does this make any sense?

[Bug 1273719] Re: netcf does not seem to handle source-directory directive in /etc/network/interfaces

2014-01-31 Thread Clark Laughlin
I looked and saw that augeas seems to be getting an update in trusty to
support the source stanza:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/augeas/+bug/1270881

Is source the correct stanza to use, and not source-directory?

Re: [Bug 1274972] Re: Multiple concurrent connections cause libvirtd SIGABRT

2014-01-31 Thread Serge Hallyn
Why was the status set to Fix released for libvirt (Ubuntu)? There is
 currently no fix available.

Oh, when you said it affected version 1.2.1, I assumed you were implying
that 1.2.2 was not affected. If that's not true then status should
indeed be confirmed.

Re: [Bug 1273719] Re: netcf does not seem to handle source-directory directive in /etc/network/interfaces

2014-01-31 Thread Serge Hallyn
Not quite. As 'man 5 interfaces' shows, source sources a file, while
source-directory sources all files in a directory. Hopefully the fix
for this can be as simple as the source fix.

Thanks for reporting this bug. I can't reproduce this, or figure out
why this would have happened. Somehow dpkg must have found that kvm and
qemu-kvm came from source packages with different checksums, which
should not be possible.

Can you show us the result of

sha1sum /var/cache/apt/archives/qemu*
sha1sum /var/cache/apt/archives/kvm*
cat /etc/apt/sources.list
for f in /etc/apt/sources.list.d/*; do
echo

And append the file /var/log/apt/term.log?

2014-01-31 Thread Thomas Templin
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1273407 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1273407

It seems that libdbi1 and libdbd-mysql have to be the same version!

There is a mail on the german gnucash list:
 http://lists.gnucash.org/pipermail/gnucash-de/2014-January/008932.html

Due to the poster the problem dissapeared after upgrading libdbd-mysql
to version 0.9

So libdbi1 and libdbd-mysql have to be the same version

Upgrading libdbd-mysql to 0.9 will solve the problem, hopefully

Hi there!

Thanks for reporting this bug! Your bug seems to be a problem with the
KDE program itself, and not with our KDE packages. While we appreciate
your issue, it would be better if it was tracked at
https://bugs.kde.org, so that the KDE developers can deal with this
speedily and have direct communication with you as the reporter for more
effective debugging.

Thanks!

[Bug 1274833] [NEW] PolicyKit fails to allow the org.gnome.cpufreqselector action

2014-01-31 Thread Forest
Public bug reported:

I'm trying to configure Xubuntu 13.10 (saucy) in such a way that I can
change the CPU governor and maximum frequency (using cpufreq-set)
without sudo. I created an
/etc/polkit-1/localauthority/50-local.d/org.gnome.cpufreqselector.pkla
file with the following contents:

[CPU Frequency Governor]
Identity=unix-user:myusername
Action=org.gnome.cpufreqselector
ResultActive=yes
ResultAny=yes
ResultInactive=yes

Even after rebooting and logging back in as myusername, cpufreq-set
--max 1GHz fails with exit code 218. (The same command works fine as
root.) I've tried it from a text console, from an X terminal, and from
within an Xfce panel widget, all resulting in the same failure. I've
tried a few different ResultActive/ResultAny/ResultInactive combinations
in my .pkla file, but they didn't make a difference. I've tried
relocating the file to the /var/lib/polkit-1/localauthority/50-local.d/
directory, but it didn't help. Both polkitd and polkit-gnome-
authentication-agent-1 are running.

Furthermore, I see that Ubuntu already placed the following in
/var/lib/polkit-1/localauthority/10-vendor.d/com.ubuntu.desktop.pkla:

[Change CPU Frequency scaling]
Identity=unix-group:admin;unix-group:sudo
Action=org.gnome.cpufreqselector
ResultActive=yes

I believe that means that even without my local .pkla file, I should be
able to use cpufreq-set as myself, since I am in the sudo group. Yet it
doesn't work.

[Bug 1268197] Re: UI freeze when doing import from 'Music' folder on first run

I think i can confirm this. I'm updating a large collection mounted on a sftp
share. Importing
progresses quite long, but after a while (1 hour or so ) ui becomes
unresponsive. This happens every time.

Here's a backtrace of the issue. The cause may also be in libgio.

[Bug 1274844] [NEW] Signal processing broken on x86_64 with version 331.20

2014-01-31 Thread Matteo Panella
Public bug reported:

lsb_release -rd:
Description:Ubuntu 12.04.4 LTS
Release:12.04

Package version: 331.20-0ubuntu0.0.1

On precise with linux-generic-lts-raring signal processing is broken by the
latest available version (331.20).
This is a known bug fixed in upstream release 331.38.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open gnome-terminal
2. Run cat
3. Hit Ctrl-C

Expected result:
cat should get a SIGINT and terminate

Actual result:
SIGINT is never dispatched to cat and it does not terminate

As an alternative, the issue can be reproduced using VMware Player:
virtual machines won't startup because vmware-vmx would get an
unwarranted SIGSEGV and crash.

[Bug 1271484] Re: Clock doesn't update after changing time zone

2014-01-31 Thread Martin Pitt
My strong suspicion is that this watches for /etc/timezone changes, but
on the phone this never actually changes. This is just a symlink to
/etc/writable/. So I suppose before you set up a file watch you do a
realpath() call to ensure that you always watch for changes to the
actual file.

2014-01-31 Thread Sebastien Bacher
 On my session, XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP=GNOME

that seems buggy, what is setting that variable? it should be set by
gnome-session (if you use it) to whatever session you use, that's what
we use to specify behaviours for GNOME and Unity specific differences.
That seems a bug in your environment/whatever sets it for you rather
than one in nautilus

[Bug 1274857] [NEW] wi-fi continually fails to connect (after previous success)

2014-01-31 Thread Roger Peppe
Public bug reported:

Wi-fi had been working fine, but this morning, nothing doing.

syslog shows many instances of:

warn Activation (wlan0/wireless): association took too long, failing
activation.

Some info which may or may not be relevant:

Removing the network and adding it made no difference.
Deactivating, then reactivating the hardware wi-fi network switch made no
difference.
This was happening on two independent wi-fi networks (my hotel and the bluefin
office)
Rebooting fixed the issue.
Closing the laptop did not reliably send it to sleep last night.
Two competent Canonical engineers were unable to diagnose the problem.

Thanks!

[Bug 1267818] Re: Please remove qtmultimedia private headers usage to work with Qt 5.2

2014-01-31 Thread Timo Jyrinki
I tried hacking something quickly, and pushed a branch to under lp
:~phablet-team/qtvideo-node/support_qt52 where it can be co-worked.
Could someone who knows a bit more what he's doing than me look at it
and see if it could be finished? :)

I copied qsgvideonode_p.h and qtmultimediaquickdefs_p.h to the sources
for build to succeed with only qtdeclarative5-private-dev and
qtmultimedia5-dev. I additionally noticed that QSGMaterial had moved to
under a subdirectory in Qt 5.2 so there needed to be #ifdef for that.

It built fine against Qt 5.2:
https://launchpad.net/~canonical-qt5-edgers/+archive/qt5-beta2/+sourcepub/3883608/+listing-archive-extra

Unit tests were disabled since there's a linker error. But at least this
gives the PPA the package so that cameraplugin-aal and qtvideo-node
itself do not need to be removed when upgrading.
