[Bug 1281009] [NEW] add out of the box file sharing support (samba) for Ubuntu with GUI

2014-02-17 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

File sharing between Ubuntu and Windows PCs is a bit of a struggle. One
cannot get it up and running without searching online for a solution.
Also there is always a bit of commandline involved in the process.

It would be better, if the required GUI and the dependencies are
installed by default for Ubuntu . Even if the dependencies are not
involved, during setup of file share, the system should prompt for the
required dependencies which can be installed from the Ubuntu Software
Center.

** Affects: samba (Ubuntu)

[Bug 1280944] Re: package openssh-server 1:5.9p1-5ubuntu1.1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 2

2014-02-17 Thread Robie Basak
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

Since it seems likely to me that this is a local configuration problem,
rather than a bug in Ubuntu, I'm marking this bug as Incomplete.

If this is indeed a local configuration problem, you can find pointers
to get help for this sort of problem here:
http://www.ubuntu.com/support/community

Or if you believe that this is really a bug, then you may find it
helpful to read How to report bugs effectively
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem,
explain why you believe this is a bug rather than a problem specific to
your system, and then change the bug status back to New.

[Bug 1281306] [NEW] version bump request

2014-02-17 Thread Roderick Smith
Public bug reported:

I just want to flag that I've released a new version of GPT fdisk
(gdisk) today: 0.8.9. This version optionally breaks the ties to the
libicu library; by default, it now compiles without needing that library
but still providing UTF-16LE partition name support. Thus, you might
need to change some dependencies -- or you can continue to build against
libicu by reverting changes to the Makefile. It's your choice.

[Bug 992012] Re: No /openssl.cnf file could be found because of a wrong regex in whichopensslcnf

2014-02-17 Thread Nobuto MURATA
** Description changed:

+ [Impact]
+
+ * Cannot create a CA or cert using easy-rsa.
+ * Cannot complete the steps described in Ubuntu Server Guide:
+
+ [Test Case]
+ 1. After installing openvpn package, execute following commands:
+ $ sudo -i
+ # mkdir /etc/openvpn/easy-rsa/
+ # cp -r /usr/share/doc/openvpn/examples/easy-rsa/2.0/*
/etc/openvpn/easy-rsa/
+ # cd /etc/openvpn/easy-rsa/
+ # source vars
+ 2. Then hit an error:
+ **
+ No /etc/openvpn/easy-rsa/openssl.cnf file could be found
+ Further invocations will fail
+ **
+ NOTE: If you run ./clean-all, I will be doing a rm -rf on
/etc/openvpn/easy-rsa/keys
+ 3. update the package to -proposed one
+ 4. verify we don't hit the error in step 2 and we can execute ./build-ca
with no error.
+
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+
+ * minimal
+The patch makes last [[:alnum:]] as optional, nothing will be narrowed
down.
+
+ [Other Info]
+
+ * trusty and raring are not affected:
+- trusty has upstream fix already in easy-rsa package cut off from openvpn
package.
+ * quantal is also not affected:
+- quantal's openssl can be parsed without a patch.
+
+
+ -- original description --

[Bug 1281447] [NEW] false positive in logwatch report

2014-02-17 Thread latimerio
Public bug reported:

I always get the following false positives reported from dmesg.

  ERST: Error Record Serializa ...: 2 Time(s)
  EXT4-fs (sdc1): re-mounted. Opts: errors=remount-ro ...: 2 Time(s)

Both messages are obviously not errors.

It seems that logwatch is just looking for words like error and there
is no exclusion filter for false positives.

[Bug 1277655] Re: Monit fills logs when reading 0 byte pid file

2014-02-17 Thread agent 8131
Is this is the only error you have seen in the log file? Or there are
others?

This is the only message

I think, there is - e.g. monit tries to restart this service. If this
is the case - this is expected.

This is not the case, monit is not trying to restart the service, it is
entering a tight loop trying to read the PID file, as I stated. All of
my monit configs have the number of restarts limited.

And you should fix this service - pid file shouldn't be empty!

Obviously, but that does not change the fact that this bug exists in
monit. Monit should fail gracefully, handling an empty PID file the same
way it would handle a non-existent PID file.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Reviewing your dmesg attachment in this bug report it
seems that there is a problem with your hardware. I recommend
performing a back up and then investigating the situation. Measures you
might take include checking cable connections and using software tools
to investigate the health of your hardware. In the event that is is not
in fact an error with your hardware please set the bug's status back to
New. Thanks and good luck!

[Bug 1281009] [NEW] add out of the box file sharing support (samba) for Ubuntu with GUI

2014-02-17 Thread Sayantan Das
Public bug reported:

File sharing between Ubuntu and Windows PCs is a bit of a struggle. One
cannot get it up and running without searching online for a solution.
Also there is always a bit of commandline involved in the process.

It would be better, if the required GUI and the dependencies are
installed by default for Ubuntu . Even if the dependencies are not
involved, during setup of file share, the system should prompt for the
required dependencies which can be installed from the Ubuntu Software
Center.

[Bug 1280274] Re: The control panel includes a switch without description

2014-02-17 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
It's obvious what Bluetooth OFF/ON does. But the other two examples
demonstrate why I think Gnome designers have taken a wrong turn with
this one-big-switch pattern. Often it isn't useful: Why would you want
to turn Bluetooth Sharing *and* Personal File Sharing *and* Screen
Sharing *and* Media Sharing *and* especially Remote Login off, all at
once? Unless you're going into Flight Mode, which is presumably in a
different panel and doesn't require you to toggle this switch anyway.

And often it isn't understandable: What does it mean for Search as a
whole to be off? Does that hide all search features throughout the OS,
from the print dialog to the file manager? The label for the list below
suggests (too late, layout-wise) that it's just the search field in the
Activities Overview. But what is the point of turning that off anyway?
Maybe that switch is useful, but it would need a label to explain why it
is.

Notwithstanding those problems, if Déjà Dup is used on non-Ubuntu Gnome
systems, I understand that you might want to be consistent with those
other panels. Meanwhile, though, I'm planning to put the search field in
that spot of the window in System Settings for PC. So it's your choice
which is more important: being consistent with Gnome on non-Ubuntu
systems, or being consistent with the same panel in future Ubuntu
versions. I respect your decision either way.

[Bug 1281012] [NEW] Rename package / path for 3.4

2014-02-17 Thread Daniel Holbach
Public bug reported:

Maxim suggest to rename the source package to ubuntu-container-3.4-dev.
Also he suggests for the install path to follow these rules:
 1. package should not contain cordova-ubuntu/cordova in its name
 2. all files should be in /usr/share/__something__ (should not contain cordova
in path)

Daniel would suggest to use /usr/share/packagename/embed-in-click/ to
make absolutely sure that these files are to be embedded and not
installed on users machines.

The video feed is still black the same way.

[Bug 1281019] [NEW] Brightness controls are not working nvidia-319 and nvidia-331

2014-02-17 Thread Priyantha Bleeker
Public bug reported:

Brightness controls are not working when the binary Nvidia drivers with
version 319 or higher(for example 331).

This running on my HP EliteBook 8560w with a Nvidia Quadro 2000M and a
HP DreamColor2 screen.

The Brightness keys (FN+F9 and FN+FN10) are doing 'something' in the
right corner of the screen the brightness control window does show-up
and changes, but the brightness of the screen itself does not.

This is a bug which is a long standing one, and Nvidia seems to ignore it :(

Re: [Bug 1279453] Re: Carousel renderer flies off the screen when scrolling on N10

2014-02-17 Thread Michał Sawicz
On 13.02.2014 17:26, Michał Karnicki wrote:
Carousel requires at least 5 items minimum, so it should still work in
this case (new scopes does take this into consideration). I wonder if
the limit should be different on tablet due to screen width.

Indeed it should. A carousel that doesn't span the whole width of the
device stops being a carousel... CardTool should probably be used to
calculate how many items are the minimum.

what is going on with this? As I understand this bug actually means that

morning. I think this is almost as important as being able to receive
calls. When can we expect it to work?
