[Bug 993259] Re: ypbind does not start on boot
It's still an issue in the upcoming LTS release. We really need to fix it, as there are still a lot of company where they run a secured NIS installations. As it's somehow an DNS issue, there should be something like a respawn from upstart everytime there is a network change. What i also experienced is that doesn't make a difference i we change for YPBINDARGS=-no-dbus to YPBINDARGS= in /etc/default/nis, as this is ypbind's connection to NM. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to nis in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/993259 Title: ypbind does not start on boot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nis/+bug/993259/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 1246236] Re: pxe boot from maas fails due to time out
Are you still seeing this problem? I'm seeing this problem now. For me it only started occurring after upgrading MAAS from 1.5+bzr1977-0ubuntu3 to 1.5+bzr1977-0ubuntu4. MAAS is no longer able to PXE boot. To rule out any upgrade/configuration concerns I purged and reinstalled MAAS (wiping out the database, all configuration files, downloaded ephemerals etc. and essentially going again from scratch). This landed me in exactly the same situation. ** Changed in: maas Status: Incomplete = Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to maas in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1246236 Title: pxe boot from maas fails due to time out To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/maas/+bug/1246236/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1292433] Re: cinder volume deletion fails with ceph backend
I have seen this sort of error previously when the name supplied to rbd.Image is unicode formatted (or non-utf8). [Bug 1178933] Re: Time drifting when set to update Automatically from Internet
@Colin Law: ntpdate and ntp are both provided by the same source package -- ntp. Frankly, I do not know why we still spend time with ntpdate -- this program has been deprecated by the NTP maintainers. Additionally, for machines that stay on, ntp is required (otherwise time will indeed slowly drift). ntpdate was useful when most users would disconnect when done; nowadays a LOT of users keep the machines on. Also, ntp should be installed by default on Ubuntu Server. It is not. Quick solution: sudo apt-get install ntp. Then disregard ntpdate (both will be installed, but ntp trumps ntpdate). @Yolanda Robla: please always explain, in a comment, why you are changing status, importance, or affected packages. It makes life much more easier for all. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to ntp in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1178933 Title: Time drifting when set to update Automatically from Internet To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ntp/+bug/1178933/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 1292548] [NEW] Standalone Server: Update from Samba 2:3.6.18-1ubuntu3.1 (saucy) to 2:4.1.3+dfsg-2ubuntu3 (trusty) breaks access to the server
Public bug reported: I have been using Samba as a standalone server since many years and have successfully gone through multiple Samba upgrades. This week, I upgraded from Ubuntu 13.10 (saucy) to Ubuntu 14.04 (trusty). This came with an upgrade from Samba 2:3.6.18-1ubuntu3.1 (saucy) to 2:4.1.3+dfsg-2ubuntu3 (trusty). (NOTE: I did not use the samba4 package but was still sticking to Samba 3 in Ubuntu saucy) After the update, I wasn't able to access the shares any more. smbclient -L localhost -U% / smbclient -L localhost -U user resulted in various errors, including * tree connect failed: NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED * (from session setup) not permitted to access this share (IPC$) * NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE * string_to_sid: SID IPC_ is not in a valid format I was neither able to properly browse the server/shares via smbclient nor via Windows 7 Ultimate nor Windows 8.1. However, I was able to directly access a share from a Linux shell using smbclient -U user //server/share-c ls. Not even purging samba, all related configuration, all folders, including /etc/samba, /var/cache/samba, /var/spool/samba, /var/lib/samba, and re-installing samba (Version 2:4.1.3+dfsg-2ubuntu3 from trusty) did the trick. Only after installing all related packages from Debian jessie (Version 2:4.1.5+dfsg-1), everything worked out of the box again. Thus, I think that something in the most recent Ubuntu Samba package might be broken and kindly ask you to investigate, as there will be several users who will upgrade and stick to this LTS release. Thanks, Raoul PS. I did not try Samba 4.0 (Package samba4*) on Ubuntu saucy and therefore cannot tell if these are working as expected. ** Affects: samba (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1292548 Title: Standalone Server: Update from Samba 2:3.6.18-1ubuntu3.1 (saucy) to 2:4.1.3+dfsg-2ubuntu3 (trusty) breaks access to the server To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/+bug/1292548/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

I ran into this error on a different (CentOS 6 x86_64) system. Simply executing nslookup would return the error nslookup: parse of /etc/resolv.conf failed. Upon close inspection of the contents nothing was out of order. Permissions and ownership also looked good and I was executing nslookup as root. It was then I noticed lsattr /etc/resolv.conf was showing the e flag set. The customer had copied resolv.conf over from a different server (also ext4 formatted). I believe it may be that this attribute was set on the previous filesystem, and when moved to the new ext4 file system the extent mappings were incorrect, which caused the read/parse problem. Since you can't remove the attribute with chattr I was able to resolve the issue by simply copying the contents, deleting the old /etc/resolv.conf, creating a new /etc/resolv.conf, then pasting in the contents from clipboard and saving. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to bind9 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/291161 Title: Invalid multi values domain string generated by network manager To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/network-manager/+bug/291161/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1178933] Re: Time drifting when set to update Automatically from Internet
@Colin Law: ndtpdate is provided by the same *source* package (which is what I wrote above ;-). You are looking at the *binary* NTP package (which is also provided by source package ntp). Although a bit pedantic, with ntpdate time *is* automatically updated. The problem is that it does not keep on updating (unless the network interfaces are cycled). But I agree with you, it is, at least, misleading. The complete solution is to abandon ntpdate usage. Everybody gets to use ntp. There are a few bugs on ntp/ntpdate about that. [Bug 1292728] [NEW] Sync request
Public bug reported: Please sync unixodbc (2.3.1-1) from Debian unstable. I recently (March 2014) had a conversation with UnixODBC's project lead about the QT GUI, and he responded that he hadn't worked on it in years, which is true: the release used in Ubuntu is from 2008... Dignity aside, there seem to be some non-trivial bug fixes and functionality changes as well. unixodbc (2.3.1-1) unstable; urgency=low * New upstream release. Closes: #650267. - Drop changes to exe/isql.c, exe/odbcinst.c, exe/iusql.c, fixed differently upstream. - Drop libgtrtst library from libodbc1; this is technically an ABI change, but nothing has ever used this library so we're not changing the package name. - Since the library ABI has not changed in Debian (ever), keep the package names the same and provide backwards-compatible symlinks to avoid an unnecessary library transition; and update the symbols/shlibs to make it clear the old versions of the library don't satisfy these dependencies any longer. * Bump the build dependency on debhelper to 9. * Fix LDFLAGS handling so that we pick up hardening flags properly. Closes: #717257. * Fix debian/copyright to comply with copyright-format 1.0. * Update to Standards-Version 3.9.4. * Fix the section of the odbcinst package. However, the normal commands: aticonfig, amdccle, fglrxinfo do not work. Bash cannot find these files.
