[Bug 1267393] Re: [MIR] juju-core, juju-mongodb, gccgo-go, gccgo-4.9, golang
From Gustavo: Just a couple of points that might be useful to add: [Jamie] If we do this with golang-gc (gccgo would follow established update procedures), then right away if there is a security update or SRU in golang-foo-dev, we can do 'reverse-depends -b golang-foo-dev' to see what needs no change rebuilds. As an obvious point yet perhaps worth raising, a bug in a library doesn't necessarily mean everything has to be rebuilt. Right, I tried to mention this when I said but long term, perhaps we could figure out how to declare what changed in the update and have the no change auto builds mechanism detect what needs to be built based on that. I was trying to convey that even in the very nearest of short term, we can just rebuild everything, and we can figure out how to be smarter as we go. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to golang in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1267393 Title: [MIR] juju-core, juju-mongodb, gccgo-go, gccgo-4.9, golang To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gccgo-go/+bug/1267393/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 1267393] Re: [MIR] juju-core, juju-mongodb, gccgo-go, gccgo-4.9, golang
No-change uploads in response to a security update in a depended-on go library package addresses the problem of making sure the security updates happen, but it's still a suboptimal delivery method for those security updates because of the download size. Instead of pushing an update for just the library with the security fix, you're pushing the update for that package plus all its reverse-dependencies, which is made all the worse by the fact that each of those revdeps is statically linked (==larger). We might be able to make this work for juju in the short term, but it doesn't scale particularly well. I agree and mentioned this in my comment, which is why I feel gccgo is the most correct solution (or golang-go with dynamic linking support). However, I don't feel the download size is itself a blocker. We can perform uploads for everything at first, figure out how to be smarter/more selective later and along the way work with upstream on dynamic linking if that makes sense. In the meantime, developers wanting to target the phone or environments with potentially aggressive data restrictions, etc should carefully consider the choice of Go for their projects since there is a download cost.

[Bug 1272448] Re: December 2013 updates to 12.04 LTS cause multiple problems
The latest update (March 26 or 27) has introduced new issues having to do with mouseover-autoclick and touchpad sensitivity. No other changes have been made to the system other than the updates. Timeout for autoclick is so short that just moving the cursor usually results in moving some piece of text (or a cell in a spreadsheet). Random links are autoclicked almost instantly. Touchpad hypersensitivity has always been an issue (for me) with Ubuntu releases 8.04, 10.04 and 10.04. Tuning doesn't seem to make much difference. No other changes have been made to the system other than the updates. I have experienced this with this HP dv6 (purchased July, 2012) and a Dell Inspiron 1501, though the problem is worse with the HP.. Painting text for cut/copy-paste is very much problematical. It often takes five or six (or more) tries to paint (and keep painted) a block of text so that it can be cut or copied. These are all serious productivity killers besides being extremely annoying. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1272448 Title: December 2013 updates to 12.04 LTS cause multiple problems To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/1272448/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1298802] Re: 2357:0100 USB Wifi TP-Link WN8200ND cannot associate to access points
So far I ignored that particular driver because it specified that it is for a wrong kernel version. I tried to use that driver, but it does not build because create_proc_entry was deprecated. Hallo, * Robert Sander [Thu, Mar 27 2014, 08:53:33AM]: The problem does not exist when packages are served from the cache. [Bug 1296017] Re: ALSA Not Selecting Correct Output Channel Map
@Raymond Sorry for slow reply. did you install libasound2-dev and compile chmap.c ? gcc chmap.c -o chmap -l asound OpenELEC (OE) is designed to do one thing - run xbmc - and the creators have stripped out much of the usual Linux environment, and block things like apt-get. I don't think there is any way to compile on OE. I am aware of the even-numbers-only channel mapping in ALSA, but thank you for pointing to a definitive reference. The upmix code you link to has no use in this discussion. As in post #8 above: Is there a way to compile chmap.c into a portable (standalone) script, that could be run on my OE machine ? [Bug 1222602] Re: [regression] [gen3] Mesa 9.2 makes Unity unusable on Atom class hardware and 943/945 graphics controllers
I'm not sure if this fits into this particular bug, but maybe it helps to locate the problem... I have a netbook with Intel Atom N455 and GMA3150. The netbook has an external monitor attached to it via a KVM switch (USB mouse and keyboard, VGA) and has run Ubuntu since 11.10 (13.10 upto yesterday and now 14.04). The dual monitor setup has worked for nearly 2,5 years without any real issues. A few days ago, the external monitor broke. It was an old Samtron CRT which I ran at 1152x864/75 Hz. I got a new monitor, a LCD flatscreen with 1366x768, to replace it. Booting with the new monitor works. It shows the plymouth screen, LightDM's login screen and also Unity. But compiz now eats roughly 50% of the CPU as reported by top, and all graphical effects are utterly slow. This happened under 13.10 and now with 14.04 as well, with all updates installed. I've tried the things mentioned above and some others I've found while searching for this bug: - Renamed ~/.compiz folder. That actually worked once, but the high CPU usage was back after a reboot. Didn't do anything when I tried it again. - Disabled sync to vblank in CCSM. Didn't do anything. - CCSM - Preferences - Reset Unity profile. Worked, but high CPU usage was back after a reboot. - Set MESA_GL_VERSION_OVERRIDE=1.4 in /etc/environment. Didn't do anything. - Installed the latest packages from Oibaf's PPA. Didn't do anything. - Guest session instead of my regular account. Had high CPU usage as well. I then decided to install 14.04, hoping the bug would be fixed. Unfortunately, it's still there. BTW, /usr/lib/nux/unity_support_test -p shows (under 14.04): 8 OpenGL vendor string: Intel Open Source Technology Center OpenGL renderer string: Mesa DRI Intel(R) IGD OpenGL version string: 1.4 Mesa 10.1.0 Not software rendered:yes Not blacklisted: yes GLX fbconfig: yes GLX texture from pixmap: yes GL npot or rect textures: yes GL vertex program:yes GL fragment program: yes GL vertex buffer object: yes GL framebuffer object:yes GL version is 1.4+: yes Unity 3D supported: yes 8 I had yes everywhere under 13.10 as well, with both default mesa from the Ubuntu repositories and the version from Oibaf's PPA. Yesterday, after installing 14.04 and re-installing my favourite software packages, I got a few updates. Two dozen packages or so, including the 3.13.0-20-generic #42 kernel. I installed those and rebooted. After logging in, THE HIGH CPU USAGE WAS GONE. But after another reboot, compiz ate half the CPU again. Huh??? Anyway, I've now found a solution. Well, not really, but it works for now until the problem is properly fixed. I simply unplug the KVM switch's USB cable before booting to prevent the external monitor from being seen by the system. Once I'm logged in into Unity, I plug the KVM switch back in, then the external monitor turns on, the internal one turns off (as it should), and everything works as expected, without high CPU usage or slow graphical effects. I hope this helps someone. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1222602 Title: [regression] [gen3] Mesa 9.2 makes Unity unusable on Atom class hardware and 943/945 graphics controllers To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/mesa/+bug/1222602/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1220426] Re: [nvidia-prime]Freeze while using touchpad
I believe that so called #18 fix is not an actual solution. It disables multitouch features and makes your touchpad recognized as a normal mouse (and since touchpad doesn't come with separate physical scroll wheel, you won't get scrolling while using that option). You keep an ability to move your cursor and click, but that's not what I would call a usable touchpad. I wonder whether it's related specifically to the touchpad drivers, or is it just about the amount of cursor-related events which are sent to xorg? While it happens only with nvidia drivers, there migh be a possibility to fix it by pathing the touchpad-related protocols in psmouse kernel module or something in xorg (related to xrandr protocol, possibly?). ** Also affects: nvidia-graphics-drivers-331 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1220426 Title: [nvidia-prime]Freeze while using touchpad To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-319/+bug/1220426/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1299400] [NEW] Wireless mouse not recognised after reboot
Public bug reported: I'm using Ubuntu 14.04 beta 2 64bit with the latest package updates till today, on a lenovo g510 laptop. Mouse: LOGITECH M185 WIRELESS MOUSE Laptop: Lenovo G510 i7 4700MQ, 8GB RAM, 128GB SSD Samsung Evo 840. lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu Trusty Tahr (development branch) Release:14.04 $uname -r 3.13.0-19-generic If I reboot my computer with the bluetooth micro-receiver of my mouse pluged in a USB, when it boots it doesn't recognise my mouse. (Before the reboot the mouse was working properly) If I shutdown the laptop and boot it again (without unpluging the reciever), it recognises the mouse properly. WORKAROUND/SOLUTION The problem solved when I've install latest kernel 3.14.0 rc8 and used boot-repair to access the grub menu as I couldn't before (tried pressing SHIFT, setting grub timeout options). After that I've booted again in my old kernel 3.13.19 to file a bug report and my mouse was working flawlesly even after reboots. [Bug 1299400] Re: Wireless mouse not recognised after reboot
The workaround/solution I've mentioned is not valid. After some reboots I got the same behaviour. Only when I switch to 3.14.0 rc8 kernel the problem is solved. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1299400 Title: Wireless mouse not recognised after reboot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1299400/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
