parsedatetime has an optional dependency on a specific version python- pyicu, which is not documented -- it seems that the current trusty version 1.5-2ubuntu4 does not play nice. [Bug 1310792] [NEW] dfree command is not working anymore in samba
Public bug reported: I have a ZFS On Linux setup as my main backup/fileserver that uses RaidZ1 (similar to raid 5: 3 disks, 1 parity). Because Linux doesn't show the free space correctly for the complete disk/mount point, the disk space indicator on my Windows machine for this share gives the wrong info. The solution in Samba 3 / Ubuntu 13.10 was to add a dfree command = scriptname configuration option to smb.cnf that knew how to figure out the correct disk space/usage. This was all working and the total disk space was displayed correctly in Windows Explorer on the client. However, now after upgrading to 14.04, the diskspace suddenly gets displayed all wrong again. I checked the script (it worked ok) and even let it output 0 0 to see if it actually gets called by samba, but nothing changed on the indicator of my windows machine. I did reboots of the server, and the client, and nothing changed. I also changed the dfree command to a invalid scriptname, and moved it from global to a share section. Nothing worked. Testparm gives no errors, so it looks like samba somehow just ignores this parameter. Manpage for smb.conf shows that the dfree command option is available. Looks like a regression to me, and is frustrating, because I can't see how much space I am using on my fileserver. [Bug 1302963] Re: Calendar() class can not be initialized
Hi bear, Good point, looks like disabling PyICU is not a good workaround then. If we can get it to work with the python-pyicu version (1.5) currently in trusty I think that would be best for now. I know its quite a bit outdated, I will look into getting that updated to a more recent version as well. If getting it to work with 1.5 turns out to be a debacle, comment here and we'll look for a better solution. I am willing to test the changes on my end if need be. [Bug 1310846] [NEW] amt template gives up way too easily
Public bug reported: In my (extensive) experience with MAAS and AMT systems, the etc/maas/templates/power/amt.template gives up way too easily, when AMT doesn't respond. [Bug 1011194] Re: vlc stops playing video, ui reacts but closing not possible
Since the upgrade to Trusty, this happens to me, too. In my case, this bug is triggered by all kinds of video files. If I try to close the window, it just minimized itself to the notification bar (same with Alt-F4 and Ctrl-Q). I can restore the GUI by double-clicking on the notification bar icon. VLC will eventually close itself after approximately 30 seconds. What makes this even more annoying is that you can't switch to another video during that time (as the playing request will be redirected to that dying process). It is also not possible to restart the current video. If I start VLC without a video file, I can quit the application immediately. Also, the bug doesn't seem to be triggered by audio files. To rule out any config issues I have deleted ~/.config/vlc and ~/.local/share/vlc and also tried vlc --reset-config. It has no effect on this bug. Desktop environment is Xfce (plain Xfce session, not the Xubuntu one). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1011194 Title: vlc stops playing video, ui reacts but closing not possible To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/vlc/+bug/1011194/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1218322] Re: Can't set keyboard layout change to alt+shift, ctrl+shift, etc.
Successfully upgraded my 12.04 to 14.04. In 12.04 I had Alt+Shift L for layout swithing, so I set this combination on the first login in 14.04 ('gnome-control-center keyboard' for GNOME FlashBack, 'unity-control-center keyboard') to Alt+Shift L and it works as expected. [Bug 1244090] Re: Pressing keyboard shortcut to switch keyboard layout causes temporary loss of focus
** Tags removed: amd64 ** Tags added: trusty trusty-desktop ** Description changed: When pressing keyboard shourtcut for switching keyboard layout, focus temporary switches from active text input to something else, then restores back when releasing keys used to switch. Maybe even active window loses focus, but window frame does not shows this (window header remains to look active). [Bug 1310489] [NEW] xorg.conf overwritten by booting system
Public bug reported: Description:Ubuntu 14.04 LTS Release:14.04 Hello, I am using a notebook with a quadcore AMD A10 and hybrid graficcard AMD/ATI Radeon HD 8650G / AMD/ATI Sun XT Radeon HD 8670A/8670M/8690M. After installing fglrx I generated the xorg.conf in the terminal with 'sudo aticonfig --adapter=all --initial' and it looked pretty good. Up to this point I was able to switch between the cards with the commands 'sudo aticonfig --px-dgpu' for the discrete card and 'sudo aticonfig --px-igpu' for the intigrated card to save power. After rebooting I realized that I was no longer able to switch between the cards and found that the xorg.conf will be overwritten whenever I modified it and reboot the system. The new (by boot) generated xorg.conf contains not the relevant information for switing between the cards. I attached both configuration in one file (xorg.conf.comparison). I will also provide the atisysteminfo-report.txt so far I will find the place where to attach. [Bug 1310490] [NEW] indicator-messages is hidden on 14.04 LTS
Public bug reported: I've recently upgraded from Ubuntu 12.04.4 LTS to 14.04 LTS. I've noticed, that the mail icon is hidden. I've reinstalled the package: `sudo apt-get install --reinstall indicator-messages` - it was successful, but didn't change anything. Tried to install thunderbird, but nothing changed. If I want to run it manually ($ indicator-messages or with Alt+F2) the command not found... I know, that it is hidden, because I'm using GMail Notifier, which displays itself, and it works.
