Does it have this problem every time you run it?

If you know Python you can try adding some debug in the
provisioningserver/boot/utils.py file in the function get_packages(),
it's failing when it does the get_file() call, so this is definitely
some sort of network problem. It appears to connect but is returned an
empty response.

[Bug 1320074] Re: maas-import-pxe fails to catch comms errors when downloading UEFI shim and TBs instead

2014-05-16 Thread Tranhoangdainguyen
Thank you for your suggestion,
I did a little debug in file utils.py
the error happened at line
* 95 release_file = get_file(release_url)

and the release_url value is: http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists
/trusty-updates/Release

from my VM, i can view that file using curl, so it seems the problem is the
file cannot get written to the disk somehow?
or it doesn't get response but if I can get the file from using curl, why not
the process get it?

[Bug 1320221] [NEW] Apparmor blocks creating external snaphshot

2014-05-16 Thread Jan Müller
Public bug reported:

Description:Ubuntu 14.04 LTS

Trying to create an external snapshot of a kvm-vm:

[Bug 1315188] Re: No init.d script included in icehouse ubuntu packaging

2014-05-16 Thread James Page
It is - keystone only ships an upstart configuration (no init script)
which installs to /etc/init

Using the service command is the correct way to call init
scripts/upstart configuration:

   sudo service keystone restart

This will ensure that the preferred method of managing the service is
used - in the case of keystone, the upstart configuration on Ubuntu

supposed to provide both init scripts and equivalent upstart

[Bug 1275656] Re: open-vm-dkms 2011.12.20-562307-0ubuntu1: open-vm-tools kernel module failed to build

2014-05-16 Thread Michael Schaller
Thanks for the explantion about the 'linux-hwe-generic' package. It being
outdated explains why I was confused about it. ;-)
Just to make sure...
Is it correct that 'linux-hwe-generic' should then always depend on the latest
supported 'linux-generic-lts-*' package?
Also will 'open-vm-dkms-hwe' then at least suggest 'linux-hwe-generic'?

Just for confirmation... The current 'open-vm-dkms' in Precise would not change
because of this change.
This means people will need to manually install 'open-vm-dkms-hwe' and a newer
kernel. Correct?

[Bug 1320244] [NEW] libxen-dev: missing public header (arch-arm/hvm/save.h)

2014-05-16 Thread David Scott
Public bug reported:

libxen-dev version 4.4.0-0ubuntu5 from ports.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-ports
trusty/main armhf contains

/usr/include/xen/arch-arm.h

but it doesn't include

/usr/include/xen/arch-arm/hvm/save.h

The missing file is only needed for builds on armhf because it is
included by xenctrl.h on that architecture. Note the file is basically
blank; it only contains an ifndef/define/endif -- presumably because the
whole concept of HVM on arm is different to x86. Including this file
would be harmless for x86 and make work on armhf possible.

[Bug 1315188] Re: No init.d script included in icehouse ubuntu packaging

2014-05-16 Thread Tim
James. I thought this might be the case, but if it is, it still doesn't
solve the original problem. My understanding is that Upstart scripts
require registration with initctl in order for the service commands to
work. This does not appear to be occurring during install, so the above
mentioned commands don't work.

Appears to be the same for all OpenStack services.

[Bug 1320077] Re: Malformed file while booting

2014-05-16 Thread dino99
The malformed file error comes from grub

Here is the source code snippet (from grub-core/commands/loadenv.c):

| /* This might be actually valid, but it is unbelievable that
|any filesystem makes such a silly allocation. */
| return grub_error (GRUB_ERR_BAD_FS, malformed file);

So some integrity check can't believe what it reads, prints a cryptic
error message and then lets the user press a key. As there is no hint
WHICH file may be malformed, this isn't helpful in any way IMHO.

 workaround this issue?

Does it have this problem every time you run it?

If you know Python you can try adding some debug in the
provisioningserver/boot/utils.py file in the function get_packages(),
it's failing when it does the get_file() call, so this is definitely
some sort of network problem. It appears to connect but is returned an
empty response.

[Bug 1319582] Re: 'Failed to start RenderThread' after opening/closing applications

2014-05-16 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Obviously you shouldn't use SIGKILL unless you've concluded an app is
broken and not responding. The polite thing to do before that is SIGTERM
(which is at least catchable).

I agree Mir needs some kind of quit event. We need something to
communicate from the shell to the app/surface that the user wants it
closed cleanly and politely, but still giving the app a chance to pop up
a dialog or do whatever it wants before shutdown. Mir presently lacks
anything like a quit or close message from server-to-client.

[Bug 1226962] Re: Hotkeys not functional in non-latin keyboard layout in 13.10 and 14.04

2014-05-16 Thread DEDan
William, I have a few thoughts on the impossibility of keyboard input. I
remembered that after upgrading to 13.10 this bug was fixed by removing
or restart ibus. But in 14.04 removing ibus will remove many other
packages. For a similar bug has already been said here

[Bug 1320094] [NEW] segfault from aes ccm encryption after RSA key generation and EVP_PKEY_assign_RSA()

2014-05-16 Thread Jens Hiller
Public bug reported:

1) lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 12.04.4 LTS
Release:12.04

2) apt-cache policy libssl1.0.0
libssl1.0.0:
  Installed: 1.0.1-4ubuntu5.13
  Candidate: 1.0.1-4ubuntu5.13
  Version table:
 *** 1.0.1-4ubuntu5.13 0
500 http://be.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise-updates/main amd64
Packages
500 http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise-security/main amd64
Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
 1.0.1-4ubuntu3 0
500 http://be.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise/main amd64 Packages

For the sourcecode that triggers the segfault see the attachement.

3/4)

I was testing aes ccm encryption when I stumbled over a segmentation fault.
I was able to reproduce this error using code from the openssl demos at
openssl.org.

I started with demos/evp/aesccm.c and added rsa key generation as used in
'demos/tunala/cb.c' and convert this rsa key into an EVP_PKEY key as done in
'demos/selfsign.c'. Then I added this rsa key generation function in front of
the aes ccm encryption and decryption.
Finally, a for loop repeatedly performs the keygeneration, aes ccm encryption
and aes ccm decryption. This eventually results in a segmentation fault during
aes ccm encryption (see gdb output below) on a x64 Ubuntu 12.04 with latest
openssl version as provided by ubuntu package system (1.0.1-4ubuntu5.13).

Note that the segfault only occurs if the rsa key is assigned to an EVP_PKEY.
Otherwise, if only the RSA key is generated, the segfault does not occur.
Furthermore, the segfault does not occur if I use the standard openssl
libraries from openssl.org.

When encountering this error in my own code I could observe that the error
occurred more often on a machine that only runs the standard processes and is
accessed remotely by ssh, compared to a local workstation with running
webbrowser, development IDE, etc., where the error occurred rather seldom.
Hence, I have the feeling that this could be related to too little
randomness for the RNG, but I do not have any idea how to debug this.

** Description changed:

I have a strange issue with Libre Office

I have my Libre running in the Workspace 2, with multiple documents and
spreadsheets. There switching between them works fine. But if I swich to
Workspace 1, where I have my web browser running, I see all the Writer
instances in the application switcher panel. Also, if I want to Alt+Tab
to next program while in Workspace 1, I see all the Writer instances in
the Switcher dialog listed before the applications that are in Workspace
  1. And then have to press Alt+Tab repeatedly to get into the window
which I want. If I Alt+Tab to a Writer window, nothing happens.

This is annoying, since my web browsing workspace get cluttered with
useless Writer instances, which should show only in worskpace 2.

Still a problem, at least on other WMs (xfwm4 here). May I have a link

It seems strange that a piece of software (firefox) exposes a bug in

upstream?

[Bug 1320074] Re: maas-import-pxe fails to catch comms errors when downloading UEFI shim and TBs instead

2014-05-16 Thread Tranhoangdainguyen
Thank you for your suggestion,
I did a little debug in file utils.py
the error happened at line
* 95 release_file = get_file(release_url)

and the release_url value is: http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists
/trusty-updates/Release

from my VM, i can view that file using curl, so it seems the problem is the
file cannot get written to the disk somehow?
or it doesn't get response but if I can get the file from using curl, why not
the process get it?

[Bug 1320112] [NEW] With Multi-Screen mouse pointer sticks at the wrong side of the launcher

2014-05-16 Thread BeowulfOF
Public bug reported:

When using Unity with multiple Screens (2 in my case) the mousepointer
is sticky at the edge between the two screens. The second screen is
attached, to the right side of the first.

While moving the mouse from the left screen, to the right, it is stopped
on the edge. Thereby the mousepointer is shown on the right screen over
the launcher, but still sticks to the left screen.

This is very annoying, since haptic does not match optic in that case.

[Bug 1320113] [NEW] Error during the create sysdba password on firebird

2014-05-16 Thread Dazax
Public bug reported:

During the installation process of firebird2.5-classic, we can choose a
sysdba password (If we leave blank, a random password is choosen), I
choose a password but after the installation, the password entered is
not the password registered and in use.

When I check the file sysdba.password
(/etc/firebird/2.5/SYSDBA.password), I see a random password.

If I do a dpkg-reconfigure, I choose a new password and at this moment, the
password entered is the registered and functionnal password, but it's not a
practical solution.

[Bug 1309369] Re: Filtered list rendered incorrectly after refresh

2014-05-16 Thread Michael Vogt
Sorry for the trouble this bug causes.

It is fixed in utopic with the coming sync of synaptic 0.81.2. I
uploaded a SRU with the fix, see the debian bugreport for the (small)
patch.

2014-05-16 Thread Vladimir Scherbaev
Time and date has been changed, but indicator dont update currently. You
can check this from terminal. Maybe this bug at indicator-datetime. It's
updates after lost current minute. But it behavior is bad.
