[Bug 1329429] Re: local bootstrap fails

2014-06-14 Thread Charles Butler
The issue turned out to be root owned ~/.juju/environments from what I
observed. This can be resolved by removing that directory and letting
juju re-create the directory to warehouse the .jenv's with the proper
permissions on bootstrap.

Can you give that a Go nuclearbob and let me know if the issue goes
away?

Please note, you no longer need to use sudo to bootstrap *any*
environment. If juju requires sudo rights, it will prompt you for an
administrative password.

[Bug 1330120] [NEW] facter doesn't handle can't open /proc/interrupts at /usr/bin/lsdev line 15.

2014-06-14 Thread Tim Landscheidt
Public bug reported:

On my rented Strato Linux virtual server, facter (and thus puppet)
throws a warning on each run:

| root@[redacted]:~# facter
| can't open /proc/interrupts at /usr/bin/lsdev line 15.
| [key = value pairs]
| root@[redacted]:~# puppet agent --test
| can't open /proc/interrupts at /usr/bin/lsdev line 15.
| info: Caching catalog for [redacted].stratoserver.net
| info: Applying configuration version '1402765937'
| notice: Finished catalog run in 0.20 seconds
| root@[redacted]:~# cat /etc/os-release
| NAME=Ubuntu
| VERSION=12.04.4 LTS, Precise Pangolin
| ID=ubuntu
| ID_LIKE=debian
| PRETTY_NAME=Ubuntu precise (12.04.4 LTS)
| VERSION_ID=12.04
| root@[redacted]:~# facter --version
| 1.6.5
| root@[redacted]:~# puppet --version
| 2.7.11
| root@[redacted]:~#

The warning (?) comes apparently from the call to lsdev in
/usr/lib/ruby/1.8/facter/util/processor.rb and in fact none of the paths
referred to in lsdev exist on the virtual server:

| root@[redacted]:~# lsdev -Cc processor
| can't open /proc/interrupts at /usr/bin/lsdev line 15.
| root@[redacted]:~# ls -l /proc/dma /proc/ioports /proc/interrupts

[Bug 279167]

2014-06-14 Thread madbiologist
The first document (New York State voter registration form) is working
with poppler 0.24.5-2ubuntu4. As well as a very small horizontal
scrollbar under the County field, to the right of the field there is
also what is either an even smaller vertical scrollbar or up and down
arrows which work.

The second document from comment #6 also works with poppler
0.24.5-2ubuntu4, albeit with visual bug. The Gegevens over uw
reis/Your journey fields can now be dropped down into a selectable list
of train stations by clicking on the right hand end of the field. No
down arrow is visible, but there is a faint separator bar near the end
of the field. It might be advisable to file a new bug report for the
remaining visual issue.

[Bug 1330033] [NEW] invalid token @CARBON_LIBS@ in glib-2.0.pc

2014-06-14 Thread Steve Langasek
Public bug reported:

In libglib2.0-dev 2.41.0-1, glib-2.0.pc contains an unexpanded token in
Libs.private:

Name: GLib
Description: C Utility Library
Version: 2.41.0
Requires.private: libpcre
Libs: -L${libdir} -lglib-2.0
Libs.private: -pthread -lpcre@CARBON_LIBS@
Cflags: -I${includedir}/glib-2.0 -I${libdir}/glib-2.0/include

This makes it impossible to statically link against glib2.0 in utopic,
though it doesn't cause problems for dynamic linking.

I ran into this problem while doing a test build of qemu. I'm not
entirely sure why Libs.private was used, given that qemu dynamically
links against glib2.0, but it's definitely still a bug in glib2.0.

[Bug 1293287]

2014-06-14 Thread Nrc-w
Same experience here. I use the reload feature to update my desktop on
demand based on events. As a workaround I'm creating duplicate
background images in a directory and tell the desktop to switch every
ten seconds. This is works but it's not synchronized with the event and
it seems like an unnecessary use of resources to constantly update the
image whether it's needed or not.

2014-06-14 Thread Tim
A Rough list of api changes is available here:
http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/devkit-devel/2013-October/001519.html

I will take a look at g-s-d/g-c-c and then port changes to the unity
counterparts. It would however be good if touch or desktop teams can
look at porting powerd and indicator power.

Jackson, can you provide a full list of other r-depends that are missing
upstream ports?

[Bug 1329062] Re: Installation on an ASUS UX301L gone wrong

2014-06-14 Thread Luca-formaggia
Eventually I had to zap out windows and install ubuntu stand alone. I
must say that the instruction to to dual boot with win8 are incomplete,
but this probably is linked to the many different systems that are
around that makes it difficult to provide a general recipe.

I was not able to set up the partitions myself, so I had to let the
installer do it for me. The only good news is that Ubuntu seems to work
very fine on this computer (so far).

host controller (Etron EJ168a). When i connect my usb 3.0 stick to the
same port it's recognized and also works - just not the webcam.
disabling usb 3.0 legacy mode (xhci) in my bios doesn't change anything,
it's still used instead of ehci.

[Bug 1329697] Re: Rename box often invisible

2014-06-14 Thread M4he
I've created a patch for nemo-1.8.4 that contains 2 things:
1. The 2 fixes from nemo's github posted before
2. Some additional code fixes pulled from nautilus' source code that fix
remaining issues of the rename boxes with GTK 3.10 as per [1]

The attached patch can be seen as one whole source code merge from nautilus'
eel-editable-label widget code to fix it for GTK 3.10.
Because in fact, the github patches are partly merges from nautilus as well.
The second part of my patch just completes it.

[1] https://github.com/linuxmint/nemo/issues/634

** Patch added: Patch that fixes the rename box incompatibilities with GTK
3.10

Also I can confirm that the -62 version of the kernel on Lucid (linux-

has. Sound works, Thunderbird runs, all is fine. Thanks.

Hi,

I can confirm this issue. To reproduce it, clone an vm to a new image,
remove the image, undefine it and try to clone a new vm with the same

[Bug 1321443] Re: xfce4-settings-manager toolbar style doesn't change

2014-06-14 Thread Simon Steinbeiß
This is actually not Xfce's fault, but the Gtk devs decided that this setting
doesn't make sense:
https://developer.gnome.org/gtk3/stable/GtkSettings.html#GtkSettings--gtk-toolbar-style

Quote: GtkSettings:gtk-toolbar-style has been deprecated since version 3.10
and should not be used in newly-written code.
This setting is ignored.

[Bug 1328801] Re: [MacBookPro9,2] pacmd list failed suspend resume

2014-06-14 Thread Damien Cassou
I have a hard time reproducing again. The problem is twofold:

1. the suspend/resume problem does not always happen
2. this kernel does neither have sound nor wifi which makes it inconvenient to
set as my default kernel

Do you think I could configure wifi and sound on the 3.15rc2 kernel?

[Bug 1111882] Re: GnuTLS recv error (-9): A TLS packet with unexpected length was received

2014-06-14 Thread thulle
I think this bug also affects ngIRCd.
Connecting to a SSL-enabled ngIRCd using gnutls-cli fails on;
*** Fatal error: A TLS packet with unexpected length was received.
Connecting with openssl s_client fails with;
140615615354528:error:140790E5:SSL routines:SSL23_WRITE:ssl handshake
failure:s23_lib.c:177:

Recompiling ngIRCd against libgnutls28-dev fixes the problem.

[Bug 1330037] Re: upower 0.99 transition

2014-06-14 Thread Tim
** Description changed:

upower 0.99 needs uploading for gnome 3.12. This bug tracks the
  transition.

A transition is required as some features were removed and the SONAME
  was changed

  Some packages are staged in
  https://launchpad.net/~noskcaj/+archive/upower/+packages

wmbattery will probably need removing. If a package only needs a
rebuild, mark it fix commited, if something else is needed, in progress.

  cairo-dock-plug-ins: needs rebuilding
- #gnome-shell - Only a depend (used directly in 3.12)
+ #gnome-shell - ready, just need to drop upower revert.
  gnome-control-center: WIP
gnome-packagekit: Fixed in newest upstream release, needs packaging
gnome-power-manager: Fixed in newest upstream release. Merge from debian
experimental
gnome-session: Done in ppa, needs patches from git or new upstream release
  gnome-settings-daemon
  kde: no idea (awaiting reply)
mate: all mate packages need rebuilding
  python-dbusmock: lp:1324791
  sugar: no idea.
telepathy-mission-control-5: Debian has dropped upower support, needs merging
wmbattery: needs removal. orphaned upstream/debian and doesn't work with new
kernals
xfce4-power-manager: Fixed in new upstream release. Needs merging from debian
experimental
xfce4-session: patch is upstream, needs testing
xfce4-settings: Patch from upstream in ppa
  xfce4-systemload-plugin: needs rebuild

[Bug 1076928]

2014-06-14 Thread Gale
Created an attachment (id=492)
make log Ubuntu 13.10 with --disable-dynamic-loading

(In reply to comment #2)
@Benjamin, Audacity compiles for me at r13196 against self-compiled FFmpeg
2.2.2 on Ubuntu 14.04 with --disable-dynamic-loading. --disable-dynamic-loading
still fails to compile on Ubuntu 13.10 against self-compiled FFmpeg 2.2.2 (even
on fresh Audacity checkout). I attach the make log, but it shows similar
undefined reference to `av_codec_is_encoder' errors as before.

However there is a problem running my self-compiled FFmpeg standalone at the
command-line on 13.10 (I can use FFmpeg in Audacity GUI if I perform default
./configure of Audacity). Running ffmpeg shows this terminal error:

relocation error: /usr/local/lib/libavfilter.so.4: symbol
sws_isSupportedEndiannessConversion, version LIBSWSCALE_2 not defined in file
libswcale.so.2 with link time preference.

Please advise if you think this error is causing Audacity not to compile with
--disable-dynamic-loading.

[Bug 1274320] Re: Error: diskfilter writes are not supported

2014-06-14 Thread Hadmut Danisch
The more important and more severe problem (at least for me) is that in
my case the computer sometimes hangs forever when this message appears
and does not even respond to key strikes anymore.

So besides the fact that this error message occurs a secondary problem
is that the grub procedure to display the message and to wait for user
interaction is broken.

[Bug 1312462] Re: SmartCard-HSM card fails when generating ECC keypair

2014-06-14 Thread Jonathan Davies
I did some tests with the latest Git code and something interesting is
happening:

Generating a key with Ubuntu packages (0.13.0-3ubuntu4.1):

$ pkcs11-tool --module opensc-pkcs11.so -l --keypairgen --key-type
EC:prime256v1 --label My first EC key

Using slot 1 with a present token (0x1)
Logging in to SmartCard-HSM (UserPIN).
Please enter User PIN:
Key pair generated:

I don't know why this bug is registered in xubuntu-docs because I

My feeling is this bug concerns a general video package (xorg ?).

[Bug 1312462] Re: SmartCard-HSM card fails when generating ECC keypair

2014-06-14 Thread Gert van Dijk
Yes, I think I've seen similar results when doing some testing around
the time of this bug report with OpenSC upstream, OpenSC-CardContact
upstream and Ubuntu's 0.13.0 version. I did not manage to find a set of
patches to get it working properly with EC keys, even with CardContact's
OpenSC. https://github.com/CardContact/OpenSC

OpenSC has changed a lot internally between 0.13.0 and master. For me
this was too much to nail down the issue.

Re: [Bug 1329786] Re: SSSD option krb5_ccname_template is ignored

2014-06-14 Thread Stephen Gallagher
On Jun 14, 2014, at 1:01 AM, Vladimir vo...@vovan.nl wrote:

In some cases, SSSD will write the keytab with root permissions and then
chown it to the user later.
Personally I've just tried to reproduce this behavior and it doesn't work. I
see following in the ssd log file:
 (Sat Jun 14 06:42:10 2014) sssd[be[LDAP] [krb5_auth_send] (0x0020):
 check_if_ccache_file_is_used failed.

One such case is if the krb5_validate = True option is used. This is a
feature where we can compare the retrieved TGT with a previously
retrieved keytab on the system to protect against MITM attacks. If I
remember correctly, SSSD needs to wait until after this to drop its root
privileges or else it won't be able to read the keytab.

So, what kind of situations you're talking about? This must be a joke...
Is this applicable to winbind and pam_krb5 as well? I'd be hugely
surprised if the answer is yes.

The other example that's well-known (and affects both winbind and
pam_krb5) is with a local attacker pre-creating that file with
privileges to read it themselves. They then wait for you to log in,
which will give them access to your keys and impersonate you on any
Kerberos site.

There's no way to code around this that wouldn't be a race-condition.
Linux doesn't let you write a new file and change its permissions
atomically and it won't let you delete and replace a file atomically
either. An attacker with a properly set up inotify watch on the file has
an opportunity to recreate or read the file during that race-condition
window. SSSD always tries to minimize this window to subsequent
instructions in the code, but with time-sharing and multiple-processor
systems, this race condition is pretty (computationally) wide,
particularly if the system is busy (possibly by the same attacker
generating noise to widen the chances of hitting the race).

I'd also note that SSSD 1.11 and later has support for the new
KEYRING:persistent ccache type. Thanks for the information. This would
 be an useful feature.

Yes, this was added specifically to solve this problem (need a well-
known ccache location without the race-condition problem) and the
multiple realm problem (FILE-based caches can only store credentials for
one realm, but what if you have more than one Kerberos realm, such as
the one you logged in as and the one at your consulting site).

[Bug 1265192] Re: Reinstallation wipes out all/other partitions

2014-06-14 Thread Clement Lefebvre
Hi,

This is for the devs and the Ubuntu Installer Team:

We experienced this issue as well in Linux Mint. Our bug report is at
https://bugs.launchpad.net/linuxmint/+bug/1325786.

We decided to fix it by renaming Replace OS with.. with Erase disk
and install..:

https://github.com/linuxmint/ubiquity/commit/8bfc98e60cc80cefe7986774f3740a5b0530e364

We've rolled out this commit in our Xfce edition. Although it's still in
RC, we're confident the resulting installer is far less misleading.

Long term I would also suggest a confirmation dialog. You added warning
dialogs for cases such as the lack of SWAP, or the non-formatting of /
which I think is great. It would be nice to add one to scenarii where
the disk is wiped. Even though there is a red warning there underneath
the label, there's no dialog to interrupt the flow. It might lessen the
quality of the experience but if it saves a few people from wiping their
drive just because they didn't read all the info on the screen, it might
be worth the annoyance.

[Bug 1330055] [NEW] /usr/bin/psql misinterprets cluster version in ~/.postgresqlrc

2014-06-14 Thread Sergio Gelato
Public bug reported:

I've just upgraded a client from precise to trusty. As part of that
upgrade, postgresql-client-9.1 was uninstalled and replaced with
postgresql-client-9.3. This broke the psql client's access to databases
that are listed in ~/.postgresqlrc as running version 9.1. If I run

psql dbname

I now get the following error:

Error: /home/username/.postgresqlrc line 2: version 9.1 does not exist

The relevant line of /home/username/.postgresqlrc looks like this:

9.1dbhost:5432 dbname

This is correct according to the documentation: the postgresqlrc(5) man
page describes the VERSION column as The major PostgreSQL version *of
the cluster to connect to* (emphasis mine). Note also the comment in
/usr/share/postgresql-common/pg_wrapper that says:

# for psql we always want the latest version, as this is backwards compatible
# to every major version that that we support

Unfortunately the flow of control never reaches that point in the code;
user_cluster_map() (in PgCommon.pm) calls version_exists(9.1) and throws
an error because *on the client* there is only version 9.3. The check is
erroneous since it assumes that the client and the server have the same
versions of PostgreSQL installed.

I could lie to the wrapper and claim that the database cluster runs
version 9.3, were it not for the fact that /home/username is on a
network share and the same file needs to work for both precise and
trusty (and wheezy) clients.

This report is about Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, with version 154 of postgresql-
client-common. I haven't researched whether any other releases are
affected.

Using CapsLock as the shortcut on 14.04, pressing in while in the lock
screen behaves as if it is not defined (classic behaviour).

Re: [Cairo-dock-team] [Bug 1242112] Re: Shutdown/restart dialogue is not working if Cairo-Dock and its logout applet are running

2014-06-14 Thread Fabounet
Thank you for sharing this post !
This confirms what we thought, since Cairo-Dock also registers as Unity to
get the LauncherEntry events.

I've made a small modification, I hope it will help (revision 3097)
Please let me know if you can test (or if you prefer you can also test the
modification directly, simply edit
/usr/lib/cairo-dock/cairo-dock-launcher-API-daemon and replace
bus_name = dbus.service.BusName (self.bus_name_str, self.bus)
by
bus_name = dbus.service.BusName (self.bus_name_str, self.bus,
allow_replacement=True)
then restart your session as usual

Tom Beckmann's answer to Question #250144
 (https://answers.launchpad.net/gala/+question/250144) as well as his
workaround for my similar issues with a modified pantheon session (using
Compiz rather than Gala) could well be enlightening on this matter.

I've haven't deployed the workaround yet, but I thought it best to share
 here regardless.

[Bug 1252121] Re: missing PrepareForSleep signal after resuming, causing networking to stay disabled

2014-06-14 Thread oliver
@Dimitry from #131

Unfortunatly for some reason Gnomebuntu doesn't care about
/etc/pm/sleep/*, pm-utls is involved with /etc/pm* and pm-utils is not
installed under gnomebuntu 14.04 for me. Installing pm-utils makes
suspend/resume work much less reliable, so leaving it off.
