[Bug 1329429] Re: local bootstrap fails
The issue turned out to be root owned ~/.juju/environments from what I observed. This can be resolved by removing that directory and letting juju re-create the directory to warehouse the .jenv's with the proper permissions on bootstrap. Can you give that a Go nuclearbob and let me know if the issue goes away? Please note, you no longer need to use sudo to bootstrap *any* environment. The first document (New York State voter registration form) is working with poppler 0.24.5-2ubuntu4. The second document from comment #6 also works with poppler 0.24.5-2ubuntu4, albeit with visual bug. The Gegevens over uw reis/Your journey fields can now be dropped down into a selectable list of train stations by clicking on the right hand end of the field. [Bug 1329062] Re: Installation on an ASUS UX301L gone wrong
Eventually I had to zap out windows and install ubuntu stand alone. I must say that the instruction to to dual boot with win8 are incomplete, but this probably is linked to the many different systems that are around that makes it difficult to provide a general recipe. I was not able to set up the partitions myself, so I had to let the installer do it for me. The only good news is that Ubuntu seems to work very fine on this computer (so far). I've created a patch for nemo-1.8.4 that contains 2 things: 1. The 2 fixes from nemo's github posted before 2. Some additional code fixes pulled from nautilus' source code that fix remaining issues of the rename boxes with GTK 3.10 as per [1] The attached patch can be seen as one whole source code merge from nautilus' eel-editable-label widget code to fix it for GTK 3.10. Because in fact, the github patches are partly merges from nautilus as well. The second part of my patch just completes it. I did not manage to find a set of patches to get it working properly with EC keys, even with CardContact's OpenSC. https://github.com/CardContact/OpenSC OpenSC has changed a lot internally between 0.13.0 and master. Re: [Bug 1329786] Re: SSSD option krb5_ccname_template is ignored
On Jun 14, 2014, at 1:01 AM, Vladimir vo...@vovan.nl wrote: In some cases, SSSD will write the keytab with root permissions and then chown it to the user later. Personally I've just tried to reproduce this behavior and it doesn't work. I see following in the ssd log file: (Sat Jun 14 06:42:10 2014) sssd[be[LDAP] [krb5_auth_send] (0x0020): check_if_ccache_file_is_used failed. One such case is if the krb5_validate = True option is used. This is a feature where we can compare the retrieved TGT with a previously retrieved keytab on the system to protect against MITM attacks. If I remember correctly, SSSD needs to wait until after this to drop its root privileges or else it won't be able to read the keytab. So, what kind of situations you're talking about? This must be a joke... Is this applicable to winbind and pam_krb5 as well? I'd be hugely surprised if the answer is yes. The other example that's well-known (and affects both winbind and pam_krb5) is with a local attacker pre-creating that file with privileges to read it themselves. They then wait for you to log in, which will give them access to your keys and impersonate you on any Kerberos site. There's no way to code around this that wouldn't be a race-condition. Linux doesn't let you write a new file and change its permissions atomically and it won't let you delete and replace a file atomically either. An attacker with a properly set up inotify watch on the file has an opportunity to recreate or read the file during that race-condition window. SSSD always tries to minimize this window to subsequent instructions in the code, but with time-sharing and multiple-processor systems, this race condition is pretty (computationally) wide, particularly if the system is busy (possibly by the same attacker generating noise to widen the chances of hitting the race). I'd also note that SSSD 1.11 and later has support for the new KEYRING:persistent ccache type. Thanks for the information. This would be an useful feature. Yes, this was added specifically to solve this problem (need a well- known ccache location without the race-condition problem) and the multiple realm problem (FILE-based caches can only store credentials for one realm, but what if you have more than one Kerberos realm, such as the one you logged in as and the one at your consulting site). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of System Security Services Daemon, which is subscribed to sssd in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1329786 Title: SSSD option krb5_ccname_template is ignored Status in “sssd” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: In the latest sssd-1.8.6-0ubuntu0.3 the option krb5_ccname_template is completely ignored. [Bug 1265192] Re: Reinstallation wipes out all/other partitions
Hi, This is for the devs and the Ubuntu Installer Team: We experienced this issue as well in Linux Mint. Our bug report is at https://bugs.launchpad.net/linuxmint/+bug/1325786. We decided to fix it by renaming Replace OS with.. with Erase disk and install..: https://github.com/linuxmint/ubiquity/commit/8bfc98e60cc80cefe7986774f3740a5b0530e364 We've rolled out this commit in our Xfce edition. Although it's still in RC, we're confident the resulting installer is far less misleading. Long term I would also suggest a confirmation dialog. You added warning dialogs for cases such as the lack of SWAP, or the non-formatting of / which I think is great. It would be nice to add one to scenarii where the disk is wiped. Even though there is a red warning there underneath the label, there's no dialog to interrupt the flow. It might lessen the quality of the experience but if it saves a few people from wiping their drive just because they didn't read all the info on the screen, it might be worth the annoyance. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1265192 Title: Reinstallation wipes out all/other partitions To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1265192/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1330055] [NEW] /usr/bin/psql misinterprets cluster version in ~/.postgresqlrc
Public bug reported: I've just upgraded a client from precise to trusty. As part of that upgrade, postgresql-client-9.1 was uninstalled and replaced with postgresql-client-9.3. This broke the psql client's access to databases that are listed in ~/.postgresqlrc as running version 9.1. If I run psql dbname I now get the following error: Error: /home/username/.postgresqlrc line 2: version 9.1 does not exist The relevant line of /home/username/.postgresqlrc looks like this: 9.1dbhost:5432 dbname This is correct according to the documentation: the postgresqlrc(5) man page describes the VERSION column as The major PostgreSQL version *of the cluster to connect to* (emphasis mine). Note also the comment in /usr/share/postgresql-common/pg_wrapper that says: # for psql we always want the latest version, as this is backwards compatible # to every major version that that we support Unfortunately the flow of control never reaches that point in the code; user_cluster_map() (in PgCommon.pm) calls version_exists(9.1) and throws an error because *on the client* there is only version 9.3. The check is erroneous since it assumes that the client and the server have the same versions of PostgreSQL installed. I could lie to the wrapper and claim that the database cluster runs version 9.3, were it not for the fact that /home/username is on a network share and the same file needs to work for both precise and trusty (and wheezy) clients. This report is about Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, with version 154 of postgresql- client-common.
