2014-06-29 Thread Pavel Bekkerman
Fought it for an hour. No info on the web.

Managed to solve by:
- removing the openssh-server section in /var/lib/dpkg/status
- and running sudo apt-get install openssh-server again

I think there's a mistake in version numbers in the post-install script.

[Bug 1335652] [NEW] phpinfo() Type Confusion Information Leak Vulnerability

2014-06-29 Thread Kurt Cancemi
*** This bug is a security vulnerability ***

Public security bug reported:

Reported in php as bug #67498 by Stefan Esser.

Here is an excerpt from the bug of some of the capabilities of this
security bug:

Because this is only exploitable in case these variables are overwritten
as integers, which is less likely in a remote context this has to be
mostly considered a local information leak only. However if you are
running as mod_php and there is mod_ssl this could be used to steal the
private SSL key from memory (if you can inject PHP code).

I attached the upstream fix.

[Bug 684982]

2014-06-29 Thread Debruyck
Is there anybody who can pick this up?

I'm using firefox on OpenSUSE 13.1 (with KDE). It is extremely annoying
that all my firefox windows open in the same virtual desktop (and not on
the virtual desktop they were on when I closed the session).

It is so annoying that after 10+ years of Mozilla Firefox, I'm
considering dumping firefox for an alternative that does keep track of
which window was on which virtual desktop

[Bug 1250498] Re: 8086:0412 [Asus B85M-G] No video output after 2nd resume from hibernate

2014-06-29 Thread b3nmore
Out of curiosity I've tested the latest official trusty kernel
(3.13.0-30-generic) and found, that this issue is fixed now.

It seems, that one/some of the backports of 3.14-rc1 or later, which
went into the kernel updates, was the one which solved this bug as seen
upstream. I might add, that I didn't identify the exact version/update,
when resuming fromhibernation started to work properly again, but with
3.13.0-30 it definitively does.

[Bug 1246092] Re: Ubuntu 13.10 upgrade: audacity sound is trashed, program highly unstable

2014-06-29 Thread shafin
I ran into this problem on Ubuntu 14.04 64 bit. The method from pos 14
initially did not work for me, but setting PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=1 using
the same command did the trick. I also tried the method from post 21
first, which, unfortunately, did not work for me.

2014-06-29 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a

[Bug 1335485] Re: some strange blur problems

2014-06-29 Thread Alexander Mieland
After changing some compiz stuff in compiz settings manager, it now looks all
okay again.
Unfortunatly I really don't know which setting has caused that.

I don't quite remember if I had installed wth automatic login or not;

[Bug 1321335] Re: Build failure when ZFS support is enabled

2014-06-29 Thread RJVB
Now that the bug is confirmed to affect multiple users, allow me to post
the work-around I found, in hopes it will help address the issue.

I have installed grub-pc, grub-pc-bin, grub-common, grub2-common version
2.01-22debian1+zfs3-0.6.3-2~wheezy and zfs-initramfs version
0.6.3-0.27~21b446~wheezy, all downloaded manually from the zfsonlinux debian
repository, and marked as held (apt-mark hold grub-pc ...).
In addition, I added zfsforce=1 to GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX in /etc/default/grub (I
haven't checked if that's still required after the upgrade to zfs 0.6.3).

Finally, if one uses the root dataset (the one with the pool's name) for
the root filesystem instead of a child dataset, one has to remove the
trailing slash from the pool name after each update-grub. That's a
confirmed issue @ZoL, one for which I do not know if a decision has been
made yet.

[Bug 1335582] [NEW] Scrolling in one desktop touches apps in another desktop

2014-06-29 Thread Pedro Côrte-Real
Public bug reported:

I've found a bug in how unity/compiz handles multiple desktops. Here are
the steps to reproduce it.

1) Setup four virtual desktops in a 2x2 configuration
2) On the top-left desktop setup a terminal window maximized to the left side
(by dragging it to the left edge so it uses the left half of the screen)
3) On the top-right desktop open up firefox and maximize it
4) Navigate to a page that needs scrolling
5) Try to scroll by moving the scrollbar on the right of the screen

What happens is that the mouse pointer gets grabbed by the resize target
of the terminal window on the top-left screen.

[Bug 1283003] Re: [Bluetooth + 14.04] Bluetooth headsets are not working after last couple of updates

2014-06-29 Thread Hartwig Kolbe
That blueman ppa version works for me, also.
But, I had to reboot to have it working, restarting blueman and pulseaudio did
not do the job.
Strange enough that it now works with blueman. Despite i never use blueman, its
startup seems necessary.

[Solved]

I created the folder .fonts in my home folder, and run again FontyPython.
Now the program installs the pogs with no problems whatsoever.

Not sure if it is the real reason, but for me it worked.

[Bug 1335514] Re: Ubuntu unity system tray / notification area / main menu bar indicator icons auto-hide (sub menu)

2014-06-29 Thread Adnan
** Summary changed:

- Ubuntu unity system tray / notification area / main menu bar launcher icons
auto-hide (sub menu)
+ Ubuntu unity system tray / notification area / main menu bar indicator icons
auto-hide (sub menu)

** Description changed:

  Hi,

I recently moved from windows 7 to ubuntu. one of the things that is
really strange to me is the system tray / notification area / main menu
- bar launcher icons do not auto hide in to a sub menu like windows xp,
+ bar indicator icons do not auto hide in to a sub menu like windows xp,
vista, 7, 8. It looks like a windows 2000 system tray with icons
taking over the entire bar /panel.

- I for one like to have a lot of launcher icons which i only use
+ I for one like to have a lot of indicator icons which i only use
sparingly. this feature /bug is especially annyoing for me because the
main menu bar in ubuntu doubles as a universal menu and title bar for
all apps /windows (when maximized) and it also contains the main menu
and (maximize, minimize, close) buttons leaving even less space.

I use the window title bar for many things like click, draging and
dropping, maximizing / restoring windows, right click menu item close,
- so since i cant see the menus and the launcher icons take up all the
- space i end up either clicking on the menu or on one of the launcher
+ so since i cant see the menus and the indicator icons take up all the
+ space i end up either clicking on the menu or on one of the indicator
icons when i try to do one of the said actions.

In addition if i remove the items from main menu bar then it might be
difficult for me to display them if i need them which might require some
  commands in terminal.

- Please create an auto-hide (sub menu) for launcher icons.
+ Please create an auto-hide (sub menu) for indicator icons.

system info: ubuntu 14.04 LTS files 3.10.1

2014-06-29 Thread Felix Geyer
Attached is a debdiff for trusty.
The same changes should probably apply to saucy but I haven't tested it.

The patches are not easily adaptable to the version in precise.

2014-06-29 Thread Simon Lyall
Public bug reported:

The flickr api went to https only on June 27th 2014. It appears the

Problem appears to be present in:

Shotwell 0.15.0-0ubuntu1 on Ubuntu 13.10
Shotwell 0.18.0-0ubuntu4 on Ubuntu 14.04

Error is as follows, within a second or two of hitting the publish

Publishing to Flickr can't contineu because an error occurred:

Service http://api.flickr.com.services/rest returned HTTP status code
403 Forbidden

To Try publishing to another service select one from the above menu.

[Bug 732653] Re: Menus are hidden by default

2014-06-29 Thread Adnan
Personally i am only bothered by the hiding menus once the window is
maximized. Then when i click on the title bar, i either get the launcher
icons or one of the menu items.

I dont understand why there is no option to always enable menus? I mean
in mozilla firefox we are seeing the page title on the main menu bar
and this information is already present on the current open tab (hover
over tab to see page title) , so its duplicate information.

Why not just put the menus instead of the page title there?

Fought it for an hour. No info on the web.

Managed to solve by:
- removing the openssh-server section in /var/lib/dpkg/status
- and running sudo apt-get install openssh-server again

I think there's a mistake in version numbers in the post-install script.

I have a similar problem with Intel drivers on Dell Inspiron N5110. At startup,
I get the error that you can see in the attached file. After the system is
loaded, manually doing sudo service lightdm start works and X runs normally.
I am not sure if my problem is compatible with the posted bug, but if I can
help with tracebacks of X server, please tell me how to do it.

[Bug 596637] Re: Writing data to DVD being ejected

2014-06-29 Thread Thomas Schmitt
I am the developer of libburn and see no indication

The message writing data does not stem from libburn.

The bug report does not tell by what means the medium shall
be ejected:
Hardware button at the drive, shell command eject,
some desktop icon, a run with a libburn based program, ... ?

[Bug 1335605] [NEW] Click location displaced upwards by about 1cm

2014-06-29 Thread Phill
Public bug reported:

When backups start, and Place Windows in compiz is set to Maximise,
clicking controls on the backup window doesn't work. However, if you
click about 1cm above them (e.g. the details arrow, or buttons, or
option buttons if running first time) then they work. It gives the
appearance that the window is not responding until you notice
accidentally click one control and the one below flinches.

Restoring to normal then maximising the window solves the problem. Also,
after running ubuntu-bug and returning to the window the problem goes
away. However, this has happened reliably many times and I have not had
this particular problem in any other application.

[Bug 1335613] [NEW] Bad interaction between code snippets and autocompletion plugin in gedit

2014-06-29 Thread Marc Bagnol
Public bug reported:

On ubuntu 14.04 64bits (did not occur in 12.04)
gedit 3.10.4-0ubuntu4
gedit-plugins 3.10.1-1ubuntu2

I have activated the completion plugin provided in the
'EditPreferencePlugins' menu.
When using a code snippet that uses variables to put the same text at various
places, autocompleting this text causes a mess in the snippet.

Example: with the following test snippet

begin($1) ... end($1)

suppose I start typing 'wh...' in place of $1 and 'while' is proposed
by the autocompletion plugin. Then I you press enter I get something
like

   begin(whwhilewhwhile)

instead of

   begin(while) ... end(while)

Moreover pressing ctrl+c to cancel yiels even messier results.

[Bug 1287811] Re: 168c:0036 [Acer Aspire E1-772G] Bluetooth device not detected

2014-06-29 Thread Patryk Cisek
v3.16-rc1-utopic and v3.16-rc2-utopic with blueman works all fine. In
the default bluetooth manager I can't receive files (from phone to
computer). Sometimes I must restart computer because bluetooth will not
turn on.

[Bug 1335614] [NEW] apt doesn't handle bar build-deps properly

2014-06-29 Thread Chow Loong Jin
Public bug reported:

When running sudo apt-get build-deps banshee on Ubuntu trusty, this happens:
E: Failed to satisfy Build-Depends dependency for banshee: Installed package
libgpod-cil-dev is too new

Banshee's build-deps containing libgpod-cil-dev are:
libgpod-cil-dev (= 0.8.2-7~), libgpod-cil-dev ( 0.8.3-2) | libgpod-cil-dev
(= 0.8.3-4ubuntu3~)

and the libgpod-cil-dev version is: 0.8.3-4ubuntu3

The version should be satisfied in this, and in fact, aptitude build-dep
works correctly.

This looks like an apt-get bug (Bug #1335614). Try aptitude build-deps
banshee.
