[Bug 658865] Re: Install from USB fails: "An attempt to configure apt to install additional packages from the CD failed"
I am getting this same error is 14.04.1-desktop-i386 Check disk for errors reports no problems with the install USB After getting the same apt config error I press the OK button and then it tells me that that the install was successful and to reboot. When i reboot i get the flashing curser and no more. I have tried tried installing 4 times and I've tried boot-repair-disk twice. Still to no avail. The workaround mentioned above is very confusing and although seemingly a USB issue... My little netbook has no dvd to install from, and though i have a portable cd writer, this image is far too big to burn to CD. So, I am stuck with USB only method of installing. and it fails repeatedly. Would someone please classify this a CRITICAL and ASSIGN it to someone? Or simple fix the issue? Or make the workaround clear enough to know when method1 ends and method2 begins? The only other workaround i can imagine is is downloading the 12.04 and doing 4 upgrades. How lame is that? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/658865 Title: Install from USB fails: "An attempt to configure apt to install additional packages from the CD failed" To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/estobuntu/+bug/658865/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1360753] [NEW] Kernel hibernate fails with "PM: Swap header not found!" when multiple swap spaces are enabled (even though the resume parameter is specific)
Public bug reported: I am attempting to set up working hibernation in Linux (Which I define as hibernation that works no matter how full my RAM and swap are) and have found it to be impossible with any of the hibernation systems. this bug is about the failure using the "kernel" method, which is at least a well defined failure. My setup is the following: Kubuntu 14.04 amd64 with 32GiB RAM, and a 32GiB swap file, with a 32GiB swap partition that is enabled in a /etc/pm/sleep.d/ script and disabled on thaw. The UUID of the partition is set in both /etc/default/grub (GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT) and /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/resume. when /etc/pm/config.d/00sleep_module has SLEEP_MODULE=kernel then I can actually successfully hibernate and resume IF I swapoff the swap file first, which defeats the purpose. (SLEEP_MODULE=uswsusp is another story for another bug, and TuxOnIce has been broken for a year, which I know is not your concern) If I leave the swap file active then when I attempt to hibernate, here is the relevant portion of kern.log: Aug 23 20:46:50 Kary3 kernel: [ 1082.954288] PM: Using 3 thread(s) for compression. [Bug 1360749] [NEW] Centrino Advanced-N 6200 Not Sustaining Wireless Connections
Public bug reported: I'm having issues sustaining wireless connections with a HP Pavilion dv8 Notebook PC using its internal wifi card which is a Centrino Advanced-N 6200. While it is connected it performs well, but it often becomes disabled and I have to toggle it back on using a touch-toggle-button located above the number pad of the keyboard. When it becomes disabled, no wi-fi connections are listed under Ubuntu's network manager applet, but after toggling it back on, all the local wifi connections reappear. Sometimes this will happen 4 times in a 10 minute span, and other times it will sustain the wifi connection for hours. I have experience this behavior on multiple wifi routers, even on ones giving 5 bars (located 10 feet away). In summary, it seems like it is toggling off (as though I manually pressed the toggle button myself -- which is definitely not the case). [Bug 1360545] Re: [trusty] [drm] HPD interrupt storm detected on connector DP-1: switching from hotplug detection to polling
** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Status: New => Confirmed ** Description changed: I have a haswell motherboard with 3 1080p monitors connected, 2 directly via HDMI and a 3rd HDMI connected to an active displayport dongle. The monitor on the displayport connection had been working fairly reliably until I decided to finally upgrade my bios to fix some other issues (big mistake, since I late found out its nearly impossible to downgrade). Since I upgraded the monitor nearly never works, I did get it to show display a few times but I'm not sure how that happened. At the moment while researching information to add to this post it actually started working for the moment. When I run xrandr it causes the screens to blink - rapidly for around 30sec-1min. + rapidly for around 30sec-1min. Most of the time the system is + unresponsive while the monitor is plugged in. It appears to occasionally + cause the entire desktop to stop responding until the mate-session is + killed. [Bug 891029] Re: keepass2 (2.16+dfsg-2) crashes switching tabs
This problem persist with mono 3.2.8, but debugging the source code and reading other's bug reports I found, it seems this problem is a bug in the Mono Framework when using images in the Tab pages, because it don't happens when you don't use custom colors. So, I propose as a workaround to add a setting to "ignore custom colors" so this problem can be averted without removing the custom colors for those who work in multiple operative sistems. Other details: Description:Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS Package: rtorrent-0.9.2-1 Release:14.04 Memory: 16GB Processor: Intel i5-4250U I believe the problem is related to how rtorrent is hashing things since I have multiple rtorrent processes running on the same box and the ones that are not hashing anything do not exhibit this behavior. I've solved this and now have a working mythtv setup, the overall dist upgrade worked fine, the OS etc upgraded fine. The mythtv issue was deeper than just the config.xml. During the schema upgrades there were duplicate records in the tables that the schema upgrade faulted on. It took a long time to figure out the right location for the mythtv- setup.log, once I found that I could see the failure point and take steps to correct it. [Bug 1328392] Re: [Asus X550LD] Touchpad not working - Ubuntu 14.04
** Description changed: Touchpad on the Asus X550LD is not working on Ubuntu 14.04 with either default or mainline kernel 3.15.0-031500-generic. Cursor does make some movements if you insist toying and clicking on the touchpad, but only seldomly (just using it normally often would produce no move), and in a direction that apparently has no relation with touch. Generally moves towards bottom, bottom/left, but insisting one can have patchy movements in other directions. However, clicking has no effect. Mouse connected with USB works normally, until you try to use the touchpad. If you touch the touchpad, the cursor mostly keeps on moving as per the mouse, but click mostly does not work. Logging out and logging in or restarting fixes the problem. WORKAROUND: Use external USB mouse but don't touch the touchpad. + + WORKAROUND: To get this to work as PS/2 use kernel boot parameter: + psmouse.proto=bare ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.04 Package: linux-image-3.13.0-29-generic 3.13.0-29.53 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.13.0-29.53-generic 3.13.11.2 Uname: Linux 3.13.0-29-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.14.1-0ubuntu3.2 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: USERPID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC1: g 1530 F pulseaudio /dev/snd/controlC0: g 1530 F pulseaudio CurrentDesktop: GNOME Date: Tue Jun 10 08:18:41 2014 HibernationDevice: RESUME=UUID=205b0b44-7997-42f7-806d-3b367ebfdceb InstallationDate: Installed on 2014-06-09 (0 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu-GNOME 14.04 LTS "Trusty Tahr" - Release amd64 (20140416.2) MachineType: ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. [Bug 1297849] Re: VPN Connection fails after last upgrade on 14.04
Just tried #16 again and had the same result as with my other fix attempts - the first attempt to connect to a vpn after deleting the files works, but thereafter the vpn submenu stops responding and clicking on "disconnect" does not produce any result. I tried using "vpnc-disconnect" in terminal. The response was "no vpnc found running". In the end I tried "sudo service network-manager restart" and this broke the vpn connection. The vpn submenu remained unresponsive after the network manager restart, but the "Edit Connections" menu item at the bottom of the connections menu has continued to work throughout, so it seems the problem is only with the vpn-related parts of the menu. Also tried this on a clean x64 install (prior tests were on 32-bit) and had the same problem. The 64-bit install had never even been configured with a VPN before. Its VPN submenu was unresponsive right from the beginning when I tried to configure a connection. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1297849 Title: VPN Connection fails after last upgrade on 14.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager-openconnect/+bug/1297849/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Un-hardcoding it worked for me, ie: Edit /usr/bin/winetricks and change the line that says "ftp_microsoft_com=64.4.17.176" to "ftp_microsoft_com=ftp.microsoft.com" [1] https://lists.debian.org/debian-release/2012/08/msg01491.html ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.04 Package: winetricks 0.0+20140302-0ubuntu2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.13.0-34.60-generic 3.13.11.4 Uname: Linux 3.13.0-34-generic i686 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia ApportVersion: 2.14.1-0ubuntu3.3 Architecture: i386 CurrentDesktop: XFCE Date: Sat Aug 23 18:17:24 2014 InstallationDate: Installed on 2014-07-26 (28 days ago) InstallationMedia: Lubuntu 14.04 LTS "Trusty Tahr" - Release i386 (20140416.2) PackageArchitecture: all SourcePackage: winetricks UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: winetricks (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug i386 third-party-packages trusty -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1360705 Title: 64.4.17.176 (fails to resolve ftp.microsoft.com) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/winetricks/+bug/1360705/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
