Hello Grant, or anyone else affected, Accepted irqbalance into trusty-proposed. The package will build now and be available at http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/irqbalance/1.0.6-2ubuntu0.14.04.1 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository. Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users. If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug, mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help us make a better decision. [Bug 1362199] [NEW] [FFe] apparmor abstract, anonymous and netlink socket mediation
Public bug reported: Background: kernel and apparmor userspace updates to support abstract, anonymous and fine-grained netlink socket mediation. These packages are listed in one bug because they are related, but the FFes may be granted and the uploads may happen at different times. = linux = Summary: This feature freeze exception is requested for abstract, anonymous and fine-grained netlink socket via apparmor in the kernel. When used with a compatible apparmor userspace, 'unix' and 'network netlink' rules are supported. When used without a compatible apparmor userspace (eg, on a trusty system with an utopic backport kernel), abstract, anonymous and fine-grained netlink socket mediation is not enforced (ie, you can use this kernel with an old userspace without any issues). Testing: * 14.04 system with backported kernel: TODO * test-apparmor.py: TODO (runs extensive tests (upstream and distro)) * exploratory manual testing: TODO (networking, aa-enforce with firefox, firefox works, apparmor blocks access, etc) * aa-status: TODO * lxc: TODO (containers can be created, started, shutdown) * libvirt: TODO (VMs started via openstack, and test-libvirt.py from QRT passes all tests) * 14.10 system (non-Touch) with current apparmor userspace: TODO (relevant parts of https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Process/Merges/TestPlans/AppArmor) * test-apparmor.py: TODO (runs extensive tests (upstream and distro)) * exploratory manual testing: TODO (networking, aa-enforce with firefox, firefox works, apparmor blocks access, etc) * aa-status: TODO * lxc: TODO (containers can be created, started, shutdown) * libvirt: TODO (QRT/script/test-libvirt.py (though there are 3 failures unrelated to apparmor)) * click-apparmor QRT touch image tests: TODO * apparmor-easyprof-ubuntu QRT touch image tests: TODO * 14.10 system (non-Touch) with updated apparmor userspace capable of supporting abstract, anonymous and fine-grained netlink socket: TODO (relevant parts of https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Process/Merges/TestPlans/AppArmor) * test-apparmor.py: TODO (runs extensive tests (upstream and distro)) * exploratory manual testing: TODO (networking, aa-enforce with firefox, firefox works, apparmor blocks access, etc) * aa-status: TODO * lxc: TODO (containers can be created, started, shutdown) * libvirt: TODO (QRT/script/test-libvirt.py (though there are 3 failures unrelated to apparmor)) * click-apparmor QRT touch image tests: TODO * apparmor-easyprof-ubuntu QRT touch image tests: TODO Justification: This feature is required to support comprehensive application confinement on Ubuntu Touch. [Bug 1361976] Re: LXC 1.0.5-0ubuntu0 is uninstallable
I just checked here and I can install LXC 1.0.5-0ubuntu0.1 and remove it fine with both apt-get and aptitude. Looking at the error you're getting, the problem is that you have a /usr/sbin/policy-rc.d script present on your system. That file is typically created by debootstrap or other similar tools to prevent daemon startups in chroot, however the version of the script generated by deboostrap and others is typically valid shell, so I wonder where yours came from. Anyway, remove /usr/sbin/policy-rc.d and things will start working again. Marking the bug as invalid, since it's not an lxc issue and the same problem will happen with any other package shipping init scripts. ** Changed in: lxc (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to lxc in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1361976 Title: LXC 1.0.5-0ubuntu0 is uninstallable To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lxc/+bug/1361976/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 322944] Re: slapd upgrade fails: chown: cannot access `olcDbDirectory\nolcDbDirectory': No such file or directory
Still encountered in upgrade to 14.04, due to a few cases of a missing -h parameter to grep when finding the value of olcDbDirectory. In my case the suffix is stored in two backends, one of them on disk, causing a grep with more than one file on the command line, and thus the result of grep beeing prefixed with filename:, which again causes | cut -d: -f 2 to return olcDbDirectory instead of /var/lib/ldap. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to openldap in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/322944 Title: slapd upgrade fails: chown: cannot access `olcDbDirectory\nolcDbDirectory': No such file or directory To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openldap/+bug/322944/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1362423] [NEW] docker.io inspect shows docker pid as 0
Public bug reported: I'm doing a bunch of testing with dozens to hundreds of Docker containers. In the process, I gather the pid, hostname, etc. for each docker instance as I spawn it so I can control what is going on in those containers. Every so often (that is every few thousand containers), I get one which the State.Pid is 0 - and remains zero. It seems to happen more often when I spawn a lot of them (like 200) as fast as I can. Here's the command I use to get the pid: docker.io 'inspect' '--format' '{{.State.Pid}}' docker-instance-name This almost always works, but occasionally it doesn't -- and returns a line containing only 0. I retry every second for 100 seconds just in case it's a transient error. It's not. Since it takes a long time to spawn 200 containers and even longer to shut them down (like 5 seconds each), this *really* puts a kink in my testing. Here's the output from my code when it encounters this condition: .State.Pid is currently zero for instance DockerSystem.13183-00107/897886a7ad01 [0] The string in [] at the end of the line is the contents of what I read from the docker.io inspect command listed above. So, it's not an empty string being treated as or converted to a zero. It's a 0 string. The code I'm using to manage these docker instances is here: http://hg .linux-ha.org/assimilation/file/tip/cma/systemtests/docker.py $ docker.io --version Docker version 0.9.1, build 3600720 I'm running Ubuntu 14.04. [Bug 1346497] [NEW] apport computes incorrect core dump size limit
You have been subscribed to a public bug: On Ubuntu 14.04, calling the shell's ulimit -c 20 command sets a ULIMIT_CORE in the kernel of 20480 bytes, as expected, verified by looking at /proc/$$/limits. (This is just an example; I'd likely not use a value that low.) The contents of /proc/sys/kernel/core_pattern is |/usr/share/apport/apport %p %s %c %P When a process gets a memory fault, a core file much larger than 20480 bytes can be created; apport multiplies its third argument, 20480, by 1024, giving a limit of 20MB. Test program: #include sys/time.h #include sys/resource.h #include stdlib.h #include stdio.h main() { struct rlimit r; getrlimit(RLIMIT_CORE, r); printf(%ld %ld\n, (long) r.rlim_cur, (long)r.rlim_max); malloc(100); abort(); } This produces a core dump of around 1.2MB. --- Comment From wenxi...@us.ibm.com 2014-08-27 05:57 EDT--- Since Thadeu didn't call into daily meeting with Qlogic and IBM hardware team, I am still following up all action items. There are lots of changes in bnx2x driver from 3.10 kernel to upstream kernel. I only backported bnx2x_shutdown(), bnx2x_remove_one() and __bnx2x_remove() from upstream to 3.10 petitboot kernel. With adding bnx2x_shutdown(), I still saw the issue. After that, I built the 3.10 petitboot kernel without bnx2x driver. bnx2x works fine in native Ubuntu14.10. [Bug 1362026] [NEW] toggle-shaded not working as it should
Public bug reported: Dear admins, please feel free to move this report to the appropriate place in case. I was waiting for someone who knows how to file a bug report to do it, but after half a year I give up waiting. Problem is that when you toggle-shaded, defaulting to 'Ctrl-Alt-s' in dconf (org.gnome.desktop.wm.keybindings) or to double-click top-bar on a window the window just disappears instead of showing you only the top bar. [Bug 1361338] Re: Custom keymap in hwdb not working
Well, firstly 'udevadm trigger' also does not work. I really have to physically reconnect or unbind and rebind via sysfs to get the mapping working. Just for the record. As for your other question: It's a relatively normal system - Intel Core i5-4570 (Haswell) - 8 GB RAM - Asrock H87 Pro4 (Intel H87 chipset) - Kubuntu 14.04 (currently running kernel 3.13.0-34-generic) - System is installed on a Crucial M500 SSD - My rootfs is a simple ext4 (no overlays that I'm aware of), /boot is an ext2 and /home an ext4 on another (larger) hard disk - I boot in the old BIOS mode and do *not* use UEFI boot I also tried it with Xubuntu 14.04 in a VirtualBox system with the USB device passed through. Same effect. The keyboard in question is usually connected to a 10-Port USB-Hub from Logilink. But if I connect it directly to the USB port at the mainboard's back side or even an additional Renesas USB3 controller card, nothing changes. I do not see any new entries in the syslog after the 'udevadm hwdb --update' command. Not sure if I'm supposed to, though. [Bug 1362043] [NEW] build flag -create leads to undesired dependencies
Public bug reported: In the (upstream debian) debian/rules, build flags are defined as such: DEB_SETUP_GHC_CONFIGURE_ARGS := -fruntimelist -fcreate The flag -create is false in the original cabal. Turning it on creates dependency on conduit and most importantly on idna. In great majority of cases, packages that use publicsuffixlist module do not need the create functionality, but because the package is built with -create, they too become dependent on conduit and idna. The idna package is the biggest offender here. It is bindings to a library written in C++. Fist, the fact makes it next to impossible to build statically, which makes your program depend on a shared library that is part of a (C++) idna package. Second, the (C++) idna package is a moving target, the versions of .so that are installed in different releases of Ubuntu are incompatible (unlike, say, glibc). It makes your compiled Haskell program dependent on the version of the distribution due to a feature of the library that is not necessary for your program. I suggest to either build the package without -fruntimelist -fcreate flags, or build two versions of the package: 1. minimal, that the users will depend upon, built with -fruntimelist and with DEB_ENABLE_TESTS = no. This minimal package will have full package as _build_ (but not runtime) dependency. 2. full, with -fruntimelist -fcreate and with DEB_ENABLE_TESTS = yes. This package which is capable of creating the effective_tld_names.dat file needed by the minimal package. Please consider. Debian upstream package is https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/haskell-publicsuffixlist I will notify the debian uploader about this ticket.
