[Bug 1323930] Re: mod_lua.so missing from 14.04 install (apache2-bin, 2.4.7-1ubuntu4))

2014-08-27 Thread DG
Hi Charles,

Is there nothing here: http://lua-users.org/wiki/CryptographyStuff?

Lua in Apache is fairly new, but it can do some cool stuff :)

Best,

Dirk

[Bug 1362052] [NEW] Provide Juju details on Horizon

2014-08-27 Thread Mark Shuttleworth
Public bug reported:

Please can we restore the ability to view a Juju stanza for a user of Ubuntu
OpenStack?

It should take the form:

  environment-name:
type: openstack
auth-url: http://192.168.9.97:5000/v2.0
region: region
auth-mode: userpass
use-floating-ip: true
network: default-network-for-project
tenant-name: project-name
username: username
password: Your Password Here
authorized-keys: your ssh public key

i.e. pre-fill network, tenant, and username, and invite the user to
provide password.

This should be provided on the Horizon Overview page (and is specific
to the combination of tenant and user) until we have the Juju GUI
integrated to Horizon.

[Bug 1328556] Re: init/irqbalance should support $OPTIONS

2014-08-27 Thread Chris J Arges
Hello Grant, or anyone else affected,

Accepted irqbalance into trusty-proposed. The package will build now and
be available at
http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/irqbalance/1.0.6-2ubuntu0.14.04.1 in
a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

[Bug 1362199] [NEW] [FFe] apparmor abstract, anonymous and netlink socket mediation

2014-08-27 Thread Jamie Strandboge
Public bug reported:

Background: kernel and apparmor userspace updates to support abstract,
anonymous and fine-grained netlink socket mediation. These packages are
listed in one bug because they are related, but the FFes may be granted
and the uploads may happen at different times.

= linux =
Summary:
This feature freeze exception is requested for abstract, anonymous and
fine-grained netlink socket via apparmor in the kernel. When used with a
compatible apparmor userspace, 'unix' and 'network netlink' rules are
supported. When used without a compatible apparmor userspace (eg, on a trusty
system with an utopic backport kernel), abstract, anonymous and fine-grained
netlink socket mediation is not enforced (ie, you can use this kernel with an
old userspace without any issues).

Testing:
* 14.04 system with backported kernel: TODO
 * test-apparmor.py: TODO (runs extensive tests (upstream and distro))
 * exploratory manual testing: TODO (networking, aa-enforce with firefox,
firefox works, apparmor blocks access, etc)
 * aa-status: TODO
 * lxc: TODO (containers can be created, started, shutdown)
 * libvirt: TODO (VMs started via openstack, and test-libvirt.py from QRT
passes all tests)
* 14.10 system (non-Touch) with current apparmor userspace: TODO (relevant
parts of https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Process/Merges/TestPlans/AppArmor)
 * test-apparmor.py: TODO (runs extensive tests (upstream and distro))
 * exploratory manual testing: TODO (networking, aa-enforce with firefox,
firefox works, apparmor blocks access, etc)
 * aa-status: TODO
 * lxc: TODO (containers can be created, started, shutdown)
 * libvirt: TODO (QRT/script/test-libvirt.py (though there are 3 failures
unrelated to apparmor))
 * click-apparmor QRT touch image tests: TODO
 * apparmor-easyprof-ubuntu QRT touch image tests: TODO
* 14.10 system (non-Touch) with updated apparmor userspace capable of
supporting abstract, anonymous and fine-grained netlink socket: TODO (relevant
parts of https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Process/Merges/TestPlans/AppArmor)
 * test-apparmor.py: TODO (runs extensive tests (upstream and distro))
 * exploratory manual testing: TODO (networking, aa-enforce with firefox,
firefox works, apparmor blocks access, etc)
 * aa-status: TODO
 * lxc: TODO (containers can be created, started, shutdown)
 * libvirt: TODO (QRT/script/test-libvirt.py (though there are 3 failures
unrelated to apparmor))
 * click-apparmor QRT touch image tests: TODO
 * apparmor-easyprof-ubuntu QRT touch image tests: TODO

Justification:
This feature is required to support comprehensive application confinement on
Ubuntu Touch. This feature adds a security benefit to libvirt's qemu guest
isolation which is fundamental to Ubuntu on Server/Cloud. This feature also
adds a welcome improvement to administrators wishing to further protect their
systems.

userspace upload must correspond with uploads for packages that ship AppArmor
policy that require updates (eg, libvirt, lxc, etc). The

[Bug 1361976] Re: LXC 1.0.5-0ubuntu0 is uninstallable

2014-08-27 Thread Stéphane Graber
I just checked here and I can install LXC 1.0.5-0ubuntu0.1 and remove it
fine with both apt-get and aptitude.

Looking at the error you're getting, the problem is that you have a
/usr/sbin/policy-rc.d script present on your system. That file is typically
created by debootstrap or other similar tools to prevent daemon startups in
chroot, however the version of the script generated by deboostrap and others is
typically valid shell, so I wonder where yours came from.

Anyway, remove /usr/sbin/policy-rc.d and things will start working
again.

Marking the bug as invalid, since it's not an lxc issue and the same
problem will happen with any other package shipping init scripts.

[Bug 1068756] Re: IPv6 Privacy Extensions enabled on Ubuntu Server by default

2014-08-27 Thread Scott Moser
marked this 'triaged' in cloud-init while still not really relevant.
Ben Howard has disabled the privacy extensions in cloud images in 14.10, and
the plan is to just do the same for 14.04.

Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given us, this does
not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to
a question in the support tracker. We understand the difficulties you
are facing, but it is better to raise problems you are having in the
support tracker at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if you are
uncertain if they are bugs. You can also find help with your problem in
the support forum of your local Ubuntu community http://loco.ubuntu.com/
or asking at http://askubuntu.com or http://ubuntuforums.org. For help

[Bug 322944] Re: slapd upgrade fails: chown: cannot access `olcDbDirectory\nolcDbDirectory': No such file or directory

2014-08-27 Thread Peder Stray
Still encountered in upgrade to 14.04, due to a few cases of a missing
-h parameter to grep when finding the value of olcDbDirectory. In my
case the suffix is stored in two backends, one of them on disk, causing
a grep with more than one file on the command line, and thus the result
of grep beeing prefixed with filename:, which again causes | cut
-d: -f 2 to return olcDbDirectory instead of /var/lib/ldap.

[Bug 1358268] Re: ppc64le (+ ppcle) magic is missing in debian/binfmt-update-in

2014-08-27 Thread Serge Hallyn
On the qemu-ppc and qemu-devel mailing lists the following query was made about
the non-packaging changes:

So before we add anything to QEMU, I would like to first see someone
point me to kernel patches that actually enable LE on Linux for 32bit
user space. So far I'm not aware of any (and I doubt it makes much sense)

In the original description you had said

I am in the porting powerpcel (32bit ppc LE) ubuntu 14.04, and got
successfully chroot with this qemu-ppcle patch and it looks very promising
 (i.e. build perl looks ok)

To be sure I am understanding you right, are you in fact working on the kernel
patches that would be needed for this to be useful?

Hi Peder,

Can you please try the patch from Debian bug #723957:

https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-
bin/bugreport.cgi?msg=10;filename=fix-723957.debdiff;att=1;bug=723957

(apply it to slapd.postinst)

and see whether it resolves the problem for you? If it still fails, I'd
appreciate a dump of your config db (slapcat -n0) so I can reproduce it
myself.

Thanks!

[Bug 1362423] [NEW] docker.io inspect shows docker pid as 0

2014-08-27 Thread Alan Robertson
Public bug reported:

I'm doing a bunch of testing with dozens to hundreds of Docker
containers. In the process, I gather the pid, hostname, etc. for each
docker instance as I spawn it so I can control what is going on in those
containers.

Every so often (that is every few thousand containers), I get one which
the State.Pid is 0 - and remains zero. It seems to happen more often
when I spawn a lot of them (like 200) as fast as I can.

Here's the command I use to get the pid:
docker.io 'inspect' '--format' '{{.State.Pid}}' docker-instance-name

This almost always works, but occasionally it doesn't -- and returns a
line containing only 0. I retry every second for 100 seconds just in
case it's a transient error. It's not.

Since it takes a long time to spawn 200 containers and even longer to
shut them down (like 5 seconds each), this *really* puts a kink in my
testing.

Here's the output from my code when it encounters this condition:
.State.Pid is currently zero for instance
DockerSystem.13183-00107/897886a7ad01 [0]

The string in [] at the end of the line is the contents of what I read
from the docker.io inspect command listed above. So, it's not an empty
string being treated as or converted to a zero. It's a 0 string. The
code I'm using to manage these docker instances is here: http://hg
.linux-ha.org/assimilation/file/tip/cma/systemtests/docker.py

$ docker.io --version
Docker version 0.9.1, build 3600720

I'm running Ubuntu 14.04.

Hopefully all this stuff (and a lot more) showed up in the data gathered
by the ubuntu-bug command.

[Bug 1346497] [NEW] apport computes incorrect core dump size limit

2014-08-27 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

On Ubuntu 14.04, calling the shell's ulimit -c 20 command sets a ULIMIT_CORE
in the kernel of 20480 bytes, as expected, verified by looking at
/proc/$$/limits. (This is just an example; I'd likely not use a value that
low.) The contents of /proc/sys/kernel/core_pattern is
|/usr/share/apport/apport %p %s %c %P

When a process gets a memory fault, a core file much larger than 20480
bytes can be created; apport multiplies its third argument, 20480, by
1024, giving a limit of 20MB.

Test program:

#include sys/time.h
#include sys/resource.h
#include stdlib.h
#include stdio.h

main()
{
 struct rlimit r;

 getrlimit(RLIMIT_CORE, r);
 printf(%ld %ld\n, (long) r.rlim_cur, (long)r.rlim_max);
 malloc(100);
 abort();
}

This produces a core dump of around 1.2MB.
Excerpts from /var/log/apport.log for the test program :

ERROR: apport (pid 4574) Sun Jul 20 21:37:38 2014: called for pid 4573, signal

[Bug 1356948] Comment bridged from LTC Bugzilla

2014-08-27 Thread bugproxy
--- Comment From wenxi...@us.ibm.com 2014-08-27 05:57 EDT---
Since Thadeu didn't call into daily meeting with Qlogic and IBM hardware team,
I am still following up all action items.

There are lots of changes in bnx2x driver from 3.10 kernel to upstream
kernel. I only backported bnx2x_shutdown(), bnx2x_remove_one() and
__bnx2x_remove() from upstream to 3.10 petitboot kernel. With adding
bnx2x_shutdown(), I still saw the issue.

After that, I built the 3.10 petitboot kernel without bnx2x driver.
bnx2x works fine in native Ubuntu14.10. Looks adapter didn't get clean
up before loading the LE driver. Probably we/qlogic developers need to
look at shutdown path.

Thanks,
Wendy

I am affected as well. Dual monitors, Intel graphics, Chrome was open.
Happens randomly. Sometime the password box is still visible on one
screen, but not on the other. When it disappears on both screens, only
the unity --replace and compiz --replace methods mentioned above will
allow me to get back to my desktop.

Malte Wetz [2014-08-26 9:56 -]:
The last sentence seems to indicate that compiling the hwdb is the only

Yes, that's indeed the intended mode. It works like that just fine
here. Of course you have to either unplug/replug the keyboard, or send
an udevadm trigger to make udev actually apply it to an existing
keyboard.

Not only did I have to recompile the hwdb but you also reload it:
 'udevadm control --reload'.

That's not supposed to be necessary. What kind of machine and file
system do you use? Anything which might not support inotify, such as
overlayfs, etc.?

[Bug 1361944] Re: I can not install ipython3-notebook in 12.04.5 amd64

2014-08-27 Thread Julian Taylor
ipython3-notebook is in the backports repository, apt is not smart enough to
figure out it needs to pull more from it, specifically it needs
ipython-notebook-common.
You can install it via:
apt-get install ipython3-notebook -t precise-backports

I also have a ppa with a 1.2.1 backports for precise:

2014-08-27 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package wxwidgets2.8 - 2.8.12.1+dfsg2-2ubuntu1

---
wxwidgets2.8 (2.8.12.1+dfsg2-2ubuntu1) utopic; urgency=low

  * Merge with Debian unstable (LP: #1356749), remaining changes:
- Disable bp-menubar-fix.patch.
- Disable disable_media_python.patch to add wx.media to python-wxgtk2.8.

wxwidgets2.8 (2.8.12.1+dfsg2-2) unstable; urgency=medium

  * Avoid parallelism in debian/rules itself. (Closes: #742657)
  * Stop building binary packages python-wxversion and python-wxtools -
wxpython3.0 will instead.
  * Fix format string warnings (promoted to errors) in calls to
PyErr_Format().  New patch: wxpython-missing-format-strings.patch

wxwidgets2.8 (2.8.12.1+dfsg2-1) unstable; urgency=medium

  * Repack to remove non-free files from wxPython. (Closes: #735225)
  * Change section to oldlibs to try to encourage new packages to use
wx 3.0 instead.
  * Fix warnings building code using wx2.8 with GCC 4.8. (Closes: #740115)
  * Standards-Version: 3.9.5 - no changes required.
  * debian/watch: Add dversionmangle to account for repacked orig tarball.

[Bug 1362017] [NEW] Selecting indicator menu item doesn't close the menu

2014-08-27 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 14.10 r203

1. Select Bluetooth Settings... from the Bluetooth indicator menu, or
Cellular Settings... or Wi-Fi Settings... from the Network indicator
menu, or Battery Settings... from the Battery indicator menu, or
Sound Settings... from the sound indicator menu, etc.

What should happen: The indicator menu closes and the relevant System
Settings screen appears.

What happens: Apparently nothing. The relevant settings screen actually
does open, but you can't see it because the indicator menu stays open in
front of it.

[Bug 1362025] [NEW] Back button often goes to the wrong screen

2014-08-27 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 14.10 r203

1. Navigate to the System Settings overview screen.
2. Choose Wi-Fi.
3. From the sound indicator menu, choose Sound Settings If bug 1362017
has not yet been fixed, close the indicator menu manually.
4. In System Settings, tap the Back button.

What you see:
2. The Wi-Fi screen.
3. The Sound screen.
4. The Wi-Fi screen.

What you should see:
2. The Wi-Fi screen.
3. The Sound screen.
4. The main System Settings screen.

The Back button should be hierarchical, taking you to the parent of the
current screen, regardless of how you got there. Otherwise it might take
you to a screen that you last visited days or weeks ago, that you can't
be expected to remember. And if you use indicator menus a lot, for
direct access to individual System Settings screens, a history-based
Back button makes getting to the System Settings overview unreasonably
difficult.

Fixing this bug might fix bug 1359953 automatically.

[Bug 1362026] [NEW] toggle-shaded not working as it should

2014-08-27 Thread sandro
Public bug reported:

Dear admins, please feel free to move this report to the appropriate
place in case. I was waiting for someone who knows how to file a bug
report to do it, but after half a year I give up waiting.

Problem is that when you toggle-shaded, defaulting to 'Ctrl-Alt-s' in
dconf (org.gnome.desktop.wm.keybindings) or to double-click top-bar on a
window the window just disappears instead of showing you only the top
bar. Additionally it is impossible for me to get the disappeared window
back, for example via alt-tab.

Remark: toggle-shaded behaves like this only since I upgraded to trusty
(14.04).

[Bug 1361338] Re: Custom keymap in hwdb not working

2014-08-27 Thread Malte Wetz
Well, firstly 'udevadm trigger' also does not work. I really have to
physically reconnect or unbind and rebind via sysfs to get the mapping
working. Just for the record.

As for your other question: It's a relatively normal system
- Intel Core i5-4570 (Haswell)
- 8 GB RAM
- Asrock H87 Pro4 (Intel H87 chipset)
- Kubuntu 14.04 (currently running kernel 3.13.0-34-generic)
- System is installed on a Crucial M500 SSD
- My rootfs is a simple ext4 (no overlays that I'm aware of), /boot is an ext2
and /home an ext4 on another (larger) hard disk
- I boot in the old BIOS mode and do *not* use UEFI boot

I also tried it with Xubuntu 14.04 in a VirtualBox system with the USB
device passed through. Same effect. The keyboard in question is usually
connected to a 10-Port USB-Hub from Logilink. But if I connect it
directly to the USB port at the mainboard's back side or even an
additional Renesas USB3 controller card, nothing changes.

I do not see any new entries in the syslog after the 'udevadm hwdb
--update' command. Not sure if I'm supposed to, though.

During my research, I found some links where other people seem to have similar
problems:

[Bug 1362033] [NEW] Wrong date icon shown in calendar

2014-08-27 Thread David McKelvie
Public bug reported:

Using Ubuntu 14.04.01 LTS and the gnome-flashback-session, I have an indicator
applet in the top panel.
'About' says version 12.10.1.
Clicking on the time text gives me a popup calendar showing the date and the
current month.

So far so good.

However today the date is correctly saying Wednesday, 27 August 2014,
but the small icon to the left of this text is showing '28' !

I'm not able to take a screen shot of the popup calendar.

apt-cache policy indicator-applet says

indicator-applet:
  Installed: (none)
  Candidate: 12.10.2+14.04.20140403-0ubuntu1

[Bug 1362036] [NEW] Recent tab disappears behind Recent panel when sliding up

2014-08-27 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 14.10 r203

1. Navigate to the keypad screen of the phone app.
2. Very slowly, slide up the tab from the bottom of the screen.

What happens:
* A Recent tab slides up to reveal itself.
* As the Recent panel itself slides up, the tab wobbles up and down by a single
pixel.
* Once the panel reaches half the height of the tab, the tab disappears behind
the screen.

What should happen:
* The Recent tab remains fixed to the top of the panel until it reaches the
header.

[Bug 1358116] Re: The mute led status can't be kept after s3/s4

2014-08-27 Thread Hui Wang
The fix has been merged by upstream.

commit f475371aa65de84fa483a998ab7594531026b9d9
Author: Hui Wang hui.w...@canonical.com
Date: Tue Aug 19 12:07:03 2014 +0800

ALSA: hda - restore the gpio led after resume

On some HP laptops, the mute led is controlled by codec gpio.

When some machine resume from s3/s4, the codec gpio data will be
cleared to 0 by BIOS:
Before suspend:
  IO[3]: enable=1, dir=1, wake=0, sticky=0, data=1, unsol=0
After resume:
  IO[3]: enable=1, dir=1, wake=0, sticky=0, data=0, unsol=0

To skip the AFG node to enter D3 can't fix this problem.

A workaround is to restore the gpio data when the system resume
back from s3/s4. It is safe even on the machines without this
problem.

[Bug 1325142] Re: failure to update libpam-systemd in 14.04 due to missing logind init script

2014-08-27 Thread tomsam
I'm using UCK (Ubuntu Customization Kit) to create a custom 64-bit

same here.

For libpam-systemd and whoopsie I can workaround it by editing the following
files as described by hamish:
 /var/lib/dpkg/info/whoopsie.prerm
  /var/lib/dpkg/info/libpam-systemd\:amd64.prerm
  /var/lib/dpkg/info/libpam-systemd\:amd64.postinst
(change exit $? to exit 0 in the invoke-rc.d lines)

this, however, doesn't work for me (see below)

Reproducable by:

$ uck-gui

# welcome to

# select iso image

# customize

# ready to build
click OK

- enter sudo password if you are asked for it -

# Select items from list (Run console, continue building)
select Run console application
click OK

# in root console
apt-get update

= all fine, no messages

apt-get upgrade

= error msg as above
= files modified as proposed by jox above (5 files)

apt-get upgrade

[Bug 1361957] Re: I do not know

2014-08-27 Thread Filip Sohajek
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read How to report bugs effectively
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

[Bug 1362043] [NEW] build flag -create leads to undesired dependencies

2014-08-27 Thread Eugene Crosser
Public bug reported:

In the (upstream debian) debian/rules, build flags are defined as such:

DEB_SETUP_GHC_CONFIGURE_ARGS := -fruntimelist -fcreate

The flag -create is false in the original cabal. Turning it on
creates dependency on conduit and most importantly on idna. In great
majority of cases, packages that use publicsuffixlist module do not
need the create functionality, but because the package is built with
-create, they too become dependent on conduit and idna.

The idna package is the biggest offender here. It is bindings to a
library written in C++. Fist, the fact makes it next to impossible to
build statically, which makes your program depend on a shared library
that is part of a (C++) idna package. Second, the (C++) idna package is
a moving target, the versions of .so that are installed in different
releases of Ubuntu are incompatible (unlike, say, glibc). It makes your
compiled Haskell program dependent on the version of the distribution
due to a feature of the library that is not necessary for your program.

I suggest to either build the package without -fruntimelist -fcreate
flags, or build two versions of the package:

1. minimal, that the users will depend upon, built with -fruntimelist and
with DEB_ENABLE_TESTS = no.
This minimal package will have full package as _build_ (but not runtime)
dependency.
2. full, with -fruntimelist -fcreate and with DEB_ENABLE_TESTS = yes.
This package which is capable of creating the effective_tld_names.dat file
needed by the minimal package.

Please consider.

Debian upstream package is
https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/haskell-publicsuffixlist
I will notify the debian uploader about this ticket.

Eugene
