[Bug 1377900] [NEW] libvirt start races with xen init
Public bug reported: Now that libvirt also checks for the right contents of /proc/xen/control_d there are some cases where things are not quite ready when libvirt checks. Looking at the upstart rules, libvirt currently starts on entering runlevel 2345. kvm/qemu also uses the same trigger and xen is still using init.d scripts. Since there is no way of exactly predicting which hypervisor has to come up (could be kvm/qemu or xen or none), the sanest approach right now seems to delay startup until rc emulation has finished. This should cover them all. So instead: start on startup runlevel [2345] we would use start on stopped rc RUNLEVEL=[2345] ** Affects: libvirt (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Assignee: Stefan Bader (smb) Status: Triaged ** Changed in: libvirt (Ubuntu) Status: New = Triaged ** Changed in: libvirt (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) = Stefan Bader (smb) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to libvirt in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1377900 Title: libvirt start races with xen init To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libvirt/+bug/1377900/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

Hello Ben, or anyone else affected, Accepted cloud-init into trusty-proposed. The package will build now and be available at http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cloud- init/0.7.5-0ubuntu1.3 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository. Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users. If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug, mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help us make a better decision. [Bug 1377960] [NEW] xen domains not processed on shutdown
Public bug reported: On a Xen host it is possible to have guests started via libvirt or xl directly running in parallel. In that case xl list -l has a bug which causes it to report an error and fail to process any guest. On the other side libvirt does not try the xen:/// uri to find Xen guests started via libvirt. And so those won't get shutdown properly either. Fix this on both sides by changing xen-init-list to process only domains started by the xl toolstack and on the other side add the xen uri to the list of uris in the libvirt upstart script. ** Affects: xen (Ubuntu) Importance: Medium Assignee: Stefan Bader (smb) Status: Triaged ** Changed in: xen (Ubuntu) Status: New = Triaged ** Changed in: xen (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Medium ** Changed in: xen (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) = Stefan Bader (smb) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to xen in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1377960 Title: xen domains not processed on shutdown To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xen/+bug/1377960/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

Hi! I can appreciate the difficult position you've found yourself in, and if we could help, I think we would. However, third party MySQL packages aren't exactly supported by Ubuntu. Your error log shows normal operation: 141006 18:35:13 [Warning] Using unique option prefix myisam-recover instead of myisam-recover-options is deprecated and will be removed in a future release. To test: Install precise. On precise, enable multiple architectures (say amd64 and i386) install libkadm5srv-mit8. Update your sources.list to trusty, try installing libkadm5srv-mit8. The package will build now and be available at http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qemu/2.0.0+dfsg- 2ubuntu1.6 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository. [Bug 1377809] [NEW] Wizard sometimes crashes after entering wireless passphrase
Public bug reported: With recent images I'm finding that every so often when I run the wizard, after entering the wireless passphrase, unity8 freezes, hangs and then crashes before the keyboard can fully close. First the keyboard gets stuck near the bottom of the screen, then for a minute or so the screen is unresponsive and then unity8 restarts. [Bug 1307746] Re: pitivi crashed with SIGSEGV in __GI___pthread_mutex_lock()
As replied (https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu- desktop/2014-October/004558.html), I don't see indications of upstream dropping maintenance of Pitivi, with a lot of activity in upstream code repository lately. They have also switched away from the problematic video sink that is apparently causing this crash. That said, this bug would definitely need fixing in 14.04. [Bug 1363946] Re: unity8-dash crashed with SIGABRT in qt_message_fatal() under incorrect locale
I expect the exception comes out of the bowels of the glib ini parser. There is probably little that the scopes API can do, other than to maybe throw a separate exception for the parsing failure. But the shell should not try and initialize the run time without catching the exception and handling it a bit more gracefully. [Bug 1350148] Re: [ HP Z1 G2 Touch Workstation] right side mic jack can't work
I'm not sure if it's fixed or not. On the machines there are 2 slots, one icon on the machine is head phone, and another icon is microphone. With the dkms, plug-in the microphone into the microphone jack, in the audio settings the input device will switch to external microphone. With the proposed kernel, plug-in the microphone into microphone jack, nothing happens, but plug-in into head phone jack, it works. I've tested headset and pure microphone and plugin to the microphone jack, the behavior is the same, with dkms it works, but with preposed kernel, nothing happens. It looks like the only working jack is the headphone jack. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Fix Released = Triaged -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1350148 Title: [ HP Z1 G2 Touch Workstation] right side mic jack can't work To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/hwe-next/+bug/1350148/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1377427] Re: white 1 pixel line on left edge of the screen since RTM image 81
Does it fix itself by locking/unlocking the screen a few times? I think i saw that in the past and then went away and now maybe is back. [Bug 1377820] [NEW] Computer not suspending when inactive in the main log-in prompt
Public bug reported: #DESCRIPTION My computer is set to automatically dim the screen and lock after 10 minutes, and suspend after an hour of inactivity. That works fine - but only once I've logged in first. If I switch the computer on and then leave it, it won't suspend, although it will dim the screen. #STEPS TO REPRODUCE 0. (computer is powered off) 1. boot computer 2. the log-in screen comes up 3. wait a couple of minutes, the screen will dim and switch off 4. wait for an hour What happened: computer DIDN'T suspend What I expected to happen: the computer would've suspended the same as if it locked itself after I've logged in once. [Bug 1307746] Re: pitivi crashed with SIGSEGV in __GI___pthread_mutex_lock()
I have a test version you can test on 14.04 LTS: sudo apt-add-repository ppa:timo-jyrinki/ppa sudo apt update sudo apt install pitivi You can revert to the old version with: sudo apt install ppa-purge sudo ppa-purge ppa:timo-jyrinki/ppa I tested it and imported some ogg video and produced webm out of it successfully. It also didn't break anything in that VM where pitivi worked even originally. It still does have some problem drawing the timeline, though, and patches in Debian didn't seem to fix the issue for me so I didn't include them. Testing would be welcome, even though the fixes should be first pushed to 14.10 - the problem is that 14.10 has another crasher bug #1377804 so even if this fix would be uploaded there, pitivi would still crash in 14.10. A somewhat functional version in 14.04 LTS might be worth it, though. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1307746 Title: pitivi crashed with SIGSEGV in __GI___pthread_mutex_lock() To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/pitivi/+bug/1307746/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 1310965] Re: rhythm box overwrites track information
Hi Gordon, I'm not so sure this is a bug, and I need to revisit the bug report. I've checked out the headers within the MP3 files (something like): od -a track.mp3 | head -50 This shows that some of the tracks do contain the wrong information; however, file (track.mp3) hasn't been updated since 2011 - long before I upgraded to 14.04. This would suggest that the file has always been incorrect, but the old rhythmbox seemed somehow to display the correct information. However it got the correct information is not working. Maybe it would be nice to have a cddb look up function in rhythmbox to update any old tracks like this? My ability to rip CDs has degraded, do you get that too?
