[Bug 1383332] [NEW] maas-cluster-controller is uninstallable on non-Intel architectures
Public bug reported: [Impact] maas-cluster-controller cannot be installed on a non-Intel system at all. So, for example, a ppc64el cluster cannot be managed by a MAAS that is running on ppc64el. If we drop the dependency on syslinux-common for non-Intel architectures, then this would work around the uninstallability problem. But I think the consequence would be that MAAS running on a non-Intel architecture will no longer be able to boot any Intel nodes. This would be less bad, but still not good. Additionally, I don't think this would lead to any kind of sensible error message. The UI would appear to permit it, and it would fail. [Details] The following packages have unmet dependencies. maas-cluster-controller : Depends: syslinux-common but it is not installable The relevant dependency is: syslinux-dev | syslinux-common ( 3:6.00~pre4+dfsg-5), syslinux-common Version: 1.7.0~beta1+bzr2781-0ubuntu1 in Utopic. maas-cluster-controller is Architecture: all. syslinux-common is Architecture: amd64 i386 since 3:6.03~pre18+dfsg-1. This is a regression caused by a change to the syslinux package that landed in Utopic on 1 July. Since we're beyond final freeze now, fixing this in syslinux without risking regression is difficult. Any proposed solution that involves changing syslinux packaging needs to be approved by the release team first. 15:17 rbasak To me, the multiarch solution seems the best, and maybe least regression risk for this point in the cycle I guess. 15:18 rbasak Assuming that change would be acceptable to the release team. 15:18 cjwatson I'm afraid not 15:19 cjwatson It would be non-trivially complex, potentially affect a bunch of other stuff, and it would be a lot of work to make our checks understand multiarch. ** Affects: maas (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to maas in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1383332 Title: maas-cluster-controller is uninstallable on non-Intel architectures To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/maas/+bug/1383332/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1381537] Re: Dovecot version in precise too old to switch off SSLv3 protocol for poodle fix
It is not correct. Adding !SSLv3 to the cipher list removes the set of *ciphers* specified in the SSLv3 cipher suite [1], which would also disable ciphers listed in other suites. It has no effect on the *protocols* used. Is that not correct? Doing so will drop support for TLS 1.0 and 1.1 too (leaving 1.2 only). This is explained by the fact that all the ciphers defined by SSLv3 are also shared by TLS 1.0 and 1.1 so removing them only leaves those added by TLS 1.2. $ openssl ciphers -v 'ALL:!LOW:!SSLv2:!EXP:!aNULL' | wc -l 77 $ openssl ciphers -v 'ALL:!LOW:!SSLv2:!EXP:!aNULL:!SSLv3' | wc -l 28 This is generally not advisable because many email clients do not support TLS 1.2. [Bug 1383502] [NEW] Tag Catalog Support For Metadata Definitions
Public bug reported: A challenge with using OpenStack is discovering, sharing, and correlating tags across services and different types of resources. We believe this affects both end users and administrators. A catalog of possible tags that can be used to help ensure tag name consistency across users, resource types, and services. So, when a user goes to apply a tag on a resource, they will be able to either create new tags or choose from tags that have been used elsewhere in the system on different types of resources. The following DB schema is the initial suggested schema. We will improve and take comments during code review. Constraints not shown for readability. [Bug 1300367] Re: rsync 3.1.0 and 3.0.9 incompatibility
Thank you for the patch! Unfortunately using rsync's internal zlib violates policy section 4.13 (see in particular footnote 31 for rationale): http://people.canonical.com/~cjwatson/ubuntu-policy/policy.html/ch- source.html#s-embeddedfiles For example: if a security vulnerability were found in zlib, then the security team expects to be able to fix it once in the archive. If we used rsync's internal zlib, then it would escape being fixed, and this would be dangerous. However, from the changelog I see the Debian does the same thing: * revert to using included zlib as there have been numerous reports of failed transfers when using -z with the separate zlib. So perhaps we need to make an exception in this case. To update Trusty, we need to follow the SRU procedure documented here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates#Procedure and submit the patch for sponsoring as described in the link from there. [Bug 1381383] Re: Vm destroyed when created virsh create without --autodestroy
I made little examination about this issue and full console output, which says about all, is attached. So create -command doesn't set Persistent flag to true and doesn't create related xml to under /etc/libvirt/qemu/ no matter is --autodestroy used or not where as define -command sets Persistent flag and creates xml under directory. [Bug 1381475] Re: Firewire sound card registered by the name of the fw controller
What happens is the following: Gnome settings' UI shows device.description by default. This value is taken from udev, key ID_MODEL_FROM_DATABASE. The firewire udev device does not set this value, so it falls back looking for the parent device. The parent device, the controller has an ID_MODEL_FROM_DATABASE set, which in my case is Motherboard. So the firewire card ends up with the name Motherboard. The ID_MODEL_FROM_DATABASE is probably set (for the firewire controller) by udev/systemd, see the hwdb directory of systemd sources. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1381475 Title: Firewire sound card registered by the name of the fw controller To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pulseaudio/+bug/1381475/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1243806] Re: The names column has its width dictated by other columns
Auto column size in general. Which cannot even be turned off (of course, any feature that cannot be turned off already is a potential bug, this just illustrates the principle). [Bug 1383150] [NEW] Inexplicable Record button in orage clock
Public bug reported: In my XUbuntu 14.04 (updated from 12.04) I have added an orage clock to my panel. When I left-click, it shows the calendar, with a menu View Show globaltime which shows the world clock. If I right-click on one f the clocks to bring up its preferences dialog, it is not wide enough to show all toolbar buttons. Instead, there is a down-arrow on the right on the button toolbar with two entries, Record and Quit. The Record button is completely inexplicable. Making the window wider reveals the button and hovering over the revealed button (finally!) reveals a tooltip which says set the timezone of this clock to be local timezone. I would like to propose two changes: 1. Fix the description of the button when it is not directly visible in the button toolbar 2. Create a less bewildering icon for this action (Ideally also 3. Don't have button toolbars; they are the spawn of the devil but I guess this is not the time and the place for GUI policy advocacy.) (Also, IIRC there used to be a less arcane way to show the world clock; but my panel is wacky after the dist-upgrade, so maybe that's just a local problem here.) era@fspre1776:~$ apt-cache policy xfce4-datetime-plugin xfce4-datetime-plugin: Installed: 0.6.2-1ubuntu2 Candidate: 0.6.2-1ubuntu2 Version table: *** 0.6.2-1ubuntu2 0 500 http://fi.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty/universe amd64 Packages 500 http://mirrors.nic.funet.fi/ubuntu/ trusty/universe amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status era@fspre1776:~$ apt-cache policy orage orage: Installed: 4.10.0-1 Candidate: 4.10.0-1 Version table: *** 4.10.0-1 0 500 http://fi.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty/universe amd64 Packages 500 http://mirrors.nic.funet.fi/ubuntu/ trusty/universe amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status era@fspre1776:~$ lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS Release:14.04 ** Affects: orage (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: xfce4-datetime-plugin (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: orage (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1383150 Title: Inexplicable Record button in orage clock To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/orage/+bug/1383150/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 95854] Re: Folder is overwritten with a file with the same name
Ran into this one too, in a different way. What makes it even worse: if you merge directories, it's MUCH more likely than usual that at least one of them contains symlinks into another. And then moved symlinks overwrite their own destinations. With files you at least retain something useful... I just tested it meging two .../test/ - destination contained a real non-empty subdirectory and source contained symlink to it with the same name. Oh, yes, nautilus does ask whether to overwrite. The problem: it asks this - File conflict Merge folder 1? Another folder of the same name exists in test ... [folder icon] Original file Size:(null) Last modified: 11:22 [folder icon] Replace with: Size:(null) Last modified: 11:33 Which gives an impression that they are of the same type and both are empty - while neither is true.
