[Bug 1383669] [NEW] byobu-config failed to render Japanese text

2014-10-21 Thread Mitsuya Shibata
Public bug reported:

Version
--

byobu: 5.87-0ubuntu1
tmux: 1.9-6ubuntu1
screen: 4.2.1-2

How to reproduce
-
Set locales to ja_JP.UTF-8

a) for tmux
$ bybobu-select-backend = select tmux
$ byobu-config

b) for screen
$ bybobu-select-backend = select screen
$ byobu-config

Expected result
--

Display config menu with Japanese text

Actual result
--

Display config menu with corrupted text

Note
---

LP: #1316050 and rev2366 hard cord LANG=C top of byobu-config. However
it seemt that this is needed anymore.

http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~kirkland/byobu/trunk/revision/2366

I commented out LANG=C in byobu-config, then try byobu-config, it
rendered properly Japanese text with both tmux/screen.

[Bug 482623] Re: Apple keyboard - F buttons don't work

2014-10-21 Thread Lee Mendelowitz
I posted a solution that worked for me using iTerm2 on OS X to
StackOverflow:

http://stackoverflow.com/questions/26180096/os-x-byobu-vertical-
split/26470118#26470118

It involved removing OS X keyboard shortcuts that could interfere,
updating the iTerm2 profile key map to send the correct escape
sequences, and setting the TERM environment variable to linux.

The read utility was useful for returning what escape sequences the
shell is seeing for different key combinations.

[Bug 1377308] Re: booting cloud image without initramfs broken

2014-10-21 Thread Scott Moser
a bit more info. on ppc64el at least, you can boot with 'rw' as a kernel
parameter and fix this. thats less than ideal, but it adds an
interesting piece of information. previously i just assumed we were
blocked in a hang where / was mounted rw but /run was not yet mounted.
it is the other way, though, in that '/run' gets mounted and we're
blocked on /.

** Description changed:

Booting without a initramfs was broken by the cloud-init change for
  bug 1353008 (http://pad.lv/1353008).

This affects arm guests where a bootloader is not used that would load
  kernel and initramfs.

  There are 2 workarounds:
  a.) remove the offensive code
    sudo mount-image-callback ubuntu.img -- \
   sh -c 'f=$MOUNTPOINT/etc/init/cloud-init-local.conf;
  sed -e /^start on/s/ and mounted .*// -i.dist $f
  diff -u $f.dist $f'

b.) register and boot with an initramfs
    This is done by
i.) getting the initramfs out of the image:
   sudo mount-image-callback ubuntu.img -- \
     sh -c 'cp $MOUNTPOINT/boot/initrd* . chmod ugo+r initrd*'
ii.) upload the initramfs to glance
   glance image-create --name=ubuntu-ramdisk --public \
  --container-format ari --disk-format ari initrd*
   record the ramdisk id
     iii.) register with --property ramdisk_id=$RAMDISK_ID
normally for ami style images on arm, the user had been
   uploading with --property kernel_id=kernel_id.
now, you need to upload with:
     glance image-create --name=$NAME \
    --public --container-format ami --disk-format ami \
    --property kernel_id=$KERNEL_ID \
    --property ramdisk_id=$RAMDISK_ID \ ubuntu.img

+ c.) register 'kernel command line' to include 'rw'.
+ glance image-create --property kernel_args=root=/dev/vda rw
+

[Bug 1378441] Re: add GCE support for cloud-init on 12.04

2014-10-21 Thread Chris J Arges
Hello Ben, or anyone else affected,

Accepted cloud-init into trusty-proposed. The package will build now and
be available at http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cloud-
init/0.6.3-0ubuntu1.15 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed
repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

curl: (60) SSL certificate problem: unable to get local issuer certificate
More details here: http://curl.haxx.se/docs/sslcerts.html

curl performs SSL certificate verification by default, using a bundle
of Certificate Authority (CA) public keys (CA certs). If the default
bundle file isn't adequate, you can specify an alternate file
 using the --cacert option.
If this HTTPS server uses a certificate signed by a CA represented in
the bundle, the certificate verification probably failed due to a
problem with the certificate (it might be expired, or the name might
not match the domain name in the URL).
If you'd like to turn off curl's verification of the certificate, use
 the -k (or --insecure) option.

[Bug 1381359] Re: [SRU] ship new public cert

2014-10-21 Thread Haw Loeung
Seems I tried to be clever in providing a bundle without the original CA
certificate (we're using almost everywhere else). Unfortunately,
pollinate is calling curl with --capath /dev/null so we need to include
this.

I've created MP:239160 to fix this.

Tested as follows:

$ curl -A 'pollinate/4.8-0ubuntu1 curl/7.37.1-1ubuntu3 Ubuntu/14.10
GNU/Linux/3.16.0-23-generic/x86_64' -o- -v --trace-time --connect-timeout 3

Author: Adam Gandelman ad...@ubuntu.com
Date: Mon Oct 13 17:42:42 2014 -0700

Use response.text for returning unicode EC2 metadata

When serving meta-data that contains unicode, use the webob Response.text
instead of Response.body. This also adds a test that triggers the bug in
addition to testing that all meta-data offered by the server can be served.

Re: [Bug 1104230] Re: DisplayPort 1.2 MST support is missing in the Intel driver

2014-10-21 Thread Wouter van der Graaf
Hi Dariusz,

I have a Dell XPS 12-9Q33 and two U2414Hb Dell displays, all DP 1.2 MST
compatible.

Using your instructions, I installed the new kernel and intel driver.

Daisy chaining the two displays to my laptop DOES NOT work. With this
kernel no external display works anymore.

Moreover, my wireless network controller is now no longer working. Even
though it's listed in lspci as a 'Network controller: Intel Corporation
Wireless 7260 (rev 6b)', rfkill list shows nothing.

Also, the touchscreen of my laptop stopped working with this kernel.
It's no longer in the output of xinput list, which should show
'ATML1000:00 03EB:842F'.

Lastly, my brightness keys don't work anymore.

When I reboot with official kernel 3.13, everything works again. Of
course, except for MST.

Can you perhaps explain what's going on?

Kind regards,

Wouter

 Hi Elvis,

Looks like you have the perfect setup to test this case.

Please make sure you have ppa-purge installed so you can revert the
package updates if anything goes wrong.

 Please follow these steps:
 1. sudo add-apt-repository -y ppa:dgadomski/linux-mst
 2. sudo add-apt-repository -y ppa:xorg-edgers/ppa
 3. sudo apt-get update
Make sure that the output of:
 4. apt-cache policy linux-image-3.16.0-19-generic
 states
 Candidate: 3.16.0-19.26~14.04hf71858v20141008b1
 5. sudo apt-get install linux-image-3.16.0-19-generic
 6. reboot to use the new kernel
 7. sudo apt-get install xserver-xorg-video-intel
 8. reboot to use the new intel driver

Assuming that you are connected to Monitor #1 and it is daisy-chained to
Monitor #2 you should see 2 monitors available in the Ubuntu display
 settings panel.

 I would appreciate your feedback.

 Thanks,
 Dariusz

[Bug 1312421] Re: Cannot rebuild dahdi-dkms (1:2.5.0.1+dfsg-1ubuntu3) : unknown field ‘drv_attrs’ specified in initializer .drv_attrs = xpp_attrs

2014-10-21 Thread Gino
This is still broken in 14.10 :-(
Additionally, kernel 3.15 deprecated interruptible_sleep_on_timeout, so now in
14.10, to get dahdi to work, in addition to the above patch for xbus,
pciradio.c also needs to be patched as per here:

Updating sample code, test script for reproducer (included in
ubug_1382340.tar.gz), if this helps. Here are the steps to run /
reproduce the issue:

1. untar ubug_1382340.tar.gz and cd ./ubug_1382340
2. make
2. sudo ./test.sh=== run this heavy network load.

- Ubuntu 14.04, with all updates (Ubuntu 3.13.0-37.64-generic 3.13.11.7)
- EliteBook 840 G1 connected to a HP ultraslim docking station 2013.
- 1 Acer B273HU connected to the DP of the docking

FGLRX: linux-amd-catalyst-14.6-beta-v1.0-jul11.zip: fglrx-14.20
(I had to install the following packages:
sudo apt-get install dh-modaliases execstack dkms lib32gcc1 build-essential
xserver-xorg-dev
Before I could then finally build the package:
~/Downloads/fglrx-14.20$ sudo ./amd-driver-installer-14.20-x86.x86_64.run
--buildpkg Ubuntu/trusty
And install it:
~/Downloads/fglrx-14.20$ sudo dpkg -i fglrx_*.deb fglrx-amdcccle_*.deb
)

When connecting the monitor to the DP of the Laptop everything works fine.
When connecting the monitor to the DP of the Docking Station nothing happens.

One more thing to mention is that when using the official driver: Using X.Org
X server - AMD/ATI display driver wrapper from xserver-xorg-video-ati (open
source, tested)
Then the DP of the docking station works fine (but the rendering on the
external monitor is ugly: tearing, artifacts, etc.)

[Bug 1383605] [NEW] \_SB_.PCI0.GFX0._DSM: Argument #4 type mismatch

2014-10-21 Thread crysman
Public bug reported:

I've noticed some strange warnings (and even errors) during boot. I do
not know if that is connected, but I've also started to have problems
again with my dedicated NVIDIA - after hibernate and resume I get high
temperatures and fan always on. I had this problem several times in the
past, now it's here again...

I'm running Xubuntu 14.04 on ASUS U36S.

[Bug 1347305]

2014-10-21 Thread Richard Leger
(In reply to Josiah Bruner [:JosiahOne] (needinfo CC) from comment #52)
 Created attachment 8507360
 OS X 10.10 Compose Proposal
Alternatively, I would suggest following what OS X does now, and have full
lines with the header background the same color as the input area.

It does look nice, I like it as well, but a Windows style mockup would
help to get a better idea/feeling of it in a Windows environment.

What looks nice on OS X does not necessarily on Windows due to the
different default styling... Also the mockup does not include text or
addresses (which I suppose from the mockup, would be used as a list of
contacts and no longer individual contact in separate fields) how does
it look on OS X when data is filled in?

Also to highlight separation between the header fields and the body content I
would suggest
- to create a better/stronger separation between subject field and body
textfield a slightly thicker line (or a double line) maybe at the top of body
textfield...
or
- to use the body format bar which seems to be currently missing on the mockup
(where would you place it?) on the OS X screenshot and which currently separate
subject field (and other headers) from body textfield in the Windows version of
Thunderbird. It is quite handy to have it just at the top of the body
textfield... so it may be better integrated with a more flat design style to
make it more discrete, less bulky than current Windows style in place...

A light background color could then be used to highlight active field
being edited eventually... but not really required (not needed I
believe) as there would be in any case a blinking cursor at the location
of current editing area... which I suppose is what is used in Mac OS X
version to highlight active field.

Hope that help.
Thanks for your effort and work on this issue.

Much prefer Josiah's proposal. Much cleaner but, at least for non-Apple

[Bug 1347305]

2014-10-21 Thread Guido Zoellner
Aesthetically, to my eyes both Richard's and Josiah's proposals look
very clean.

Functionally, what I like particularly about Richard's mockup is that
there is a distinct separation between sender, recipients and subject
line.

[Bug 1382831] Re: cryptsetup : failed bad passphrase or options

2014-10-21 Thread Lars Noodén
I'm able to unlock it manually but not using the installed system's own
tools. I have to use a Live image. But both the 14.04 and 14.10 Live
images work for that. Is there some boot parameter I could use to try
the installed system's own tools manually? The virtual consoles are not
available until after the disk is decrypted.

[Bug 1308105]

2014-10-21 Thread Simon Steinbeiß
(In reply to Sean Davis from comment #5)
I've tested the patch, and noticed that without the patch xfsettingsd
sometimes crashes when an external display (in this case, a TV) is
unplugged. Without the patch, xfsettingsd no longer crashes.

Now you got me confused, without the patch in both cases? Just to be
sure, which is it?

[Bug 1161485] Re: /usr/lib/pyshared/python2.7/cv2.so depends on missing libavcodec52?

2014-10-21 Thread mythsmith
This bug also affects Ubuntu 14.04.
python-opencv tries to import libavcodec.so.53, which is not installable and is
not listed in python-opencv dependencies.

File /usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/cv.py, line 1, in module
from cv2.cv import *
ImportError: libavcodec.so.53: cannot open shared object file: No such file or
directory

The repositories only list 52 and 54. I tried symlinking the missing
dependencies to newer version, but it does not

ln -s /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libavcodec.so.54
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libavcodec.so.53
ln -s /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libavformat.so.54
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libavformat.so.53
ln -s /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libavutil.so.52
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libavutil.so.51

But then it will fail with:
File /usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/cv.py, line 1, in module
from cv2.cv import *
ImportError: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libavutil.so.51: version `LIBAVUTIL_51'
not found (required by /usr/lib/libopencv_highgui.so.2.4)

Output of ldd /usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/cv2.so | grep not found:
libavcodec.so.53 = not found
libavformat.so.53 = not found
libavutil.so.51 = not found

This affects 64bit systems, BUT NOT 32bit systems.

So, it seems that:
1. The 64bit python-opencv package is compiled against libraries which does not
exist in 14.04 (but 32bit is OK).
2. libavcodec, libavformat, libavutil and maybe other libraries are not listed
as dependencies (in both arch).

[Bug 1291969] Re: No usb on resume from suspend

2014-10-21 Thread Alexandre Cavaco
Ubuntu 14.04, 3.13.0-37-generic, 64-bits.
My system is an Asus motherboard (Sabertooth Z77), i5-3570K CPU and 16GB of RAM.

Problem:
Only my keyboard if affected after suspend/resume. Both my mouse and external
soundcard (USB connected) work fine.
After suspend and resume, my keyboard rate is much slower and misses keystrokes
if I type too fast.

Workaround:
My workaround is either: 1) Unplug the keyboard and connect it again or, 2)
Remove module 'usbhid' and reinsert it again.

As a note I've got Nvidia binary drivers installed, and I even purged
Nouveau and the problem continues, so I guess it isn't Noveau.
