doing
# sudo apt-get remove nginx nginx-full nginx-common nginx-core
and
# sudo apt-get install nginx

workaround worked.

[Bug 1404835] Re: nginx upgrading to 1.6.2-1~trusty fails

2014-12-22 Thread Thomas Ward
It looks like that is an issue with the upstream NGINX repository. Are
you using the NGINX.org listed repositories on their site, and not the
PPAs? (This bug tracker covers the NGINX PPAs and does NOT cover the
NGINX upstream repositories)

[Bug 1322068] Re: Turn on bluetooth with Fn+F12 not working

2014-12-22 Thread Antoine Sibold
Finaly i have fine the methode by try and error and a lot of work.
Here The results:

The results of bisecting the Ubuntu releases are:

Good release Ubuntu Precise 12.04 LTS (kernel v3.2)
Bad release Ubuntu Raring 13.04 (kernel v3.8)

The results of bisecting Ubuntu Kernel versions are:
Good Version Ubuntu 3.5.0-51.76
Bad Version Ubuntu 3.8.0-19.29

The switching to Main-Release Kernel gives us
Good Version v.3.5.7
Bad Version v3.8.8

Commit bisecting the mainline kernel
I started with:

$ git bisect start
$ git bisect good v3.5.7
$ git bisect bad v3.8.8

You will find the results in the attached documents:

If I start Kate from terminal, I can see the problem:

Could not find 'klauncher' executable.

I've installed 'kdelibs5-plugins' package (which has some more package
dependency), and problem has solved.

2014-12-22 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Antoine Sibold, thank you, and happy holidays. A handful of quick wrap-up
issues:
+ Did you test the commit you found, and one commit prior to this, in order to
ensure your bisect results were accurate?
+ Could you please provide the full computer model as noted on the sticker of
the computer itself (not from the Bug Description)?
+ Is this issue reproducible with the latest mainline kernel 3.19-rc1?

[Bug 983535] Re: libdvdread: Can't seek to block XXXXX

This bug was reported in 2012, but the fix is only in Utopic and later...
14.04 LTS still has package libdvdread4 in version 4.2.1-2ubuntu1.
Version 5.0.0-1ubuntu1 in Utopic should be backported to LTS.

[Bug 1294689] Re: Firefox doesn't use dolphin to open download directory

2014-12-22 Thread Wilfried Essig
Kubuntu 14.04, all updates till today (2014-12-22):
Had same problem, but with audacious comming up, instead of dolphin.
Deinstalled Audacious. Then Gwenview came up instead.

After some searching i found, that firefox is using
/usr/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache from desktop-file-utils. This was
line for inode/directory :

inode/directory=audacious.desktop;kde4-gwenview.desktop;kde4-dolphin.desktop;kde4-kfmclient_dir.desktop;

Same Problem for pdf, getting gimp instead of okular:
application/pdf=gimp.desktop;kde4-okularApplication_pdf.desktop;

Editing by hand, showed, that ff used always the first entry of this for
directory. Same Problem with  line
application/pdf=kde4-okularApplication_pdf.desktop;gimp.desktop;

Everey update triggering /var/lib/dpkg/info/desktop-file-utils.postinst
created /usr/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache from completely scratch.
No changes by hand survived. Applications got sorted alphbetically in
each line again.

Ugly (but system wide) solution for me now : I added some lines in
/var/lib/dpkg/info/desktop-file-utils.postinst, after update-desktop-database
-q :
---
set -x
grep -v application/pdf=\|inode/directory\|MIME Cache
/usr/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache
/usr/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache.xx
cat /usr/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache.willi.kopf
/usr/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache
cat /usr/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache.willi
/usr/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache.xx
sort /usr/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache.xx
/usr/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache
rm /usr/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache.xx
set +x
---

I can repair that for my family and the school i'm supporting, but I
consider that very annoying especially for unexperienced users. Please
get that repaired.

Yours Wilfried Essig

Ubuntu 12.04 with rkhunter 1.3.8-10 also affected. Due to the nature of
the product I actually have to remove this as otherwise I have to audit
every server with it installed daily.

It's the boy who cried wolf the software package in it's current form.

I can confirm the problem, ulatencyd seems to break policykit in 14.10.
Removing ulatencyd helped to fix linked issue 1240336.

RE: [Bug 1336663] Re: lightdm uses wrong ccache name on pam_krb5 credentials refresh

2014-12-22 Thread Sergio Gelato
I'm not aware of any activity on this since Robert Ancell's comment #4
indicating that a proper fix might require extensive refactoring (too
extensive for Ubuntu T?). As a workaround I've added an Upstart
configuration file to run krenew in every user's session; it's as simple
as

start on xsession
stop on desktop-end
respawn
exec /usr/bin/krenew -K 60

(One may need to add a -t flag if AFS token renewal is desired.)
Lightdm still refreshes the wrong ccache but krenew independently takes care of
the right one.

[Bug 1395574] Re: startup disk creator freezes

2014-12-22 Thread Yu Ning
Hi Phil Marsh,

Could you check the usb-creator version you are using? You can use below
command to get the package version:

apt-cache policy usb-creator-common | grep Installed

And maybe you would like to have a try on my own patched usb-creator,
you can install it with below commands:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:yuningdodo/test
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install usb-creator-gtk

I promise there is no malicious code in it, you can check my bzr branch for
reference :)
lp:~yuningdodo/ubuntu/trusty/usb-creator/testing

Regards

[Bug 1220425] Re: Update rkhunter on Lucid (LTS) to supported version

2014-12-22 Thread François Marier
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1303564 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1303564

There is a 1.4.0 package for Precise in my PPA:

https://launchpad.net/~fmarier/+archive/ubuntu/ppa?field.series_filter=precise

I'm not maintaining that backport anymore because I no longer have any
12.04 machines, but you're welcome to use it, it's not any less
maintained than the unmaintained package that's in the official archive
for Precise :)

[Bug 1404853] [NEW] [Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS] Asus X550C using mousepad makes Ubuntu freeze

2014-12-22 Thread score100
Public bug reported:

Hello,
I originally thought to be affected by bug #1314198:
 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1314198 .

But mine is different. My mousepad gets recognized fine and works without
problems. However if I keep on using it consistently ubuntu freezes after
approximately 5 minutes of usage. The mouse doesn't move anymore, connecting an
external mouse makes the pointer not move either.
Oddly enough this doesn' t happen when using an external mouse from the start.
Also this seems to be a ubuntu related issue, as using it in crunchbang/debian
doesn't cause any problems.

It looks like that is an issue with the upstream NGINX repository. Are
you using the NGINX.org listed repositories on their site, and not the
PPAs? (This bug tracker covers the NGINX PPAs and does NOT cover the

Just updated to 3.18 and the touchpad works. Thanks!

The 'disable touchpad' button doesn't work either.

@Stephan

The question is why you installed 3.18. There is a regression in 3.18 with
these buttons. It will be fixed soon though.
You probably have an Elantech touchpad, that's why it works.

[Bug 1336663] Re: lightdm uses wrong ccache name on pam_krb5 credentials refresh

2014-12-22 Thread Cédric Dufour
Hello again,

Thanks @Sergio for the krenew tip.

I'd rather not automatically renew a user ticket without having him
supply its password from time to time.

I came up with a *horrible* workaround which I believe does not break
the entire Kerberos security (please correct me if I'm wrong):

In /etc/pam.d/common-auth:
auth optional pam_script.so dir=/etc/security/pam-script.d

In /etc/security/pam-script.d/pam_script_auth:
#!/bin/sh

## Kerberos 5 credential cache (ticket) hack
#  REF: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lightdm/+bug/1336663
sh -c sleep 3; PAM_USER=${PAM_USER} /etc/security/pam-script.d/krb5cc_rename

In /etc/security/pam-script.d/krb5cc_rename:
#!/bin/sh

## Kerberos 5 credential cache (ticket) hack
#  REF: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lightdm/+bug/1336663

# Parameters
KRB5CC_DIR='/tmp'

# Look for matching - although misnamed - credential cache
# ... retrieve user UID
KRB5CC_UID=$(id -u ${PAM_USER})
[ -z ${KRB5CC_UID} ] echo 'ERROR: Failed to retrieve user UID' exit 1
# ... look for user matching/misnamed ticket
KRB5CC_SRC=$(find ${KRB5CC_DIR} -maxdepth 1 -uid ${KRB5CC_UID} -name
'krb5cc_0')
[ -z ${KRB5CC_SRC} ]  echo 'INFO: No matching/misnamed Kerberos 5 ticket
found'  exit 0
# ... look for *older* user ticket (do not replace a newer one)
KRB5CC_DST=$(find ${KRB5CC_DIR} -maxdepth 1 -uid ${KRB5CC_UID} -name
krb5cc_${KRB5CC_UID}_* -not -newer ${KRB5CC_SRC} | head -n 1)
[ -z ${KRB5CC_DST} ]  echo 'INFO: No previous/user Kerberos 5 ticket found'
 exit 0
# ... check Kerberos principal matches (just to be on the safe side; let's not
rely only on files ownership)
[ $(klist ${KRB5CC_SRC} | grep '^Default principal:') != $(klist
${KRB5CC_DST} | grep '^Default principal:') ]  echo 'ERROR: Mismatched
principal'  exit 1

# Replace user credential cache by matching/misnamed one
mv ${KRB5CC_SRC} ${KRB5CC_DST}
[ $? -ne 0 ]  echo 'ERROR: Failed to rename matching/misnamed Kerberos 5
ticket'  exit 1
echo 'INFO: Successfully renamed matching/misnamed Kerberos 5 ticket'
exit 0

The 'sh -c sleep 3; ...' is required to handle the fact that the misnamed
ticket is created only after pam_script is invoked (I guess when pam_end is
called).

Gut-wrenching... but working :-/

[Bug 1404864] [NEW] package jffnms 0.9.3-3 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2014-12-22 Thread Karl Hegbloom
Public bug reported:

I initially selected Postgresql, but it failed due to a syntax
incompatibility in the SQL. I then tried to make it just use mysql, but
that failed since it was trying to use user 'postgres' rather than user
'root' at that point, which of course fails with the MySQL database. It
must be getting carried by a variable that needs to be set to root for
MySQL and to postgres for Postgresql.

By purging and reinstalling jffnms, then choosing MySQL first, it has
installed fine. I have not begun exploring the software to see if I can
use it for anything... :-)

[Bug 1404870] [NEW] Please upgrade libechonest to libechonest2.3

2014-12-22 Thread Stefan Ahlers
Public bug reported:

There have been two further releases of libechonest since 2.1.0. Please
update the relevant packages to the upstream release
(https://projects.kde.org/projects/playground/libs/libechonest).

Sadly the debian maintainer is unable to upgrade the package because:

Sadly echonest uses the first *and* second version number to form the SONAME.
This means I need to do a transition in order to push a new version to
unstable, and we can't do that right now due to the freeze process.
(https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=766594)

The tomahawk project (https://launchpad.net/tomahawk) needs libechonest2.3 for
packaging tomahawk 0.8.x.
I've packaged libechonest2.3 in my PPA
(https://launchpad.net/~justin-time/+archive/ubuntu/tomahawk).

[Bug 1404829] Re: weather applet crashes on logout:

2014-12-22 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. I noticed that you are installing an older version of
Ubuntu, unless you have some specific requirements to run an older
release I recommend trying to install the latest LTS version of Ubuntu.
We released version 14.04.1, in July of 2014, and it is a Long Term
Support release. You can find different ways to obtain it at
http://download.ubuntu.com. In the event that you really want to run
the older version of Ubuntu please set this bug's status back to New.
Thanks!

2014-12-22 Thread Frank Boßmann
Public bug reported:

Since the update to kernel version 3.13.0-43.generic there when connecting an
HDMI device always has a black screen, the connected device does not show any
signal and the computer can no longer operate. Also disconnecting the HDMI
cable makes no changes, the screen stays black and it only helps a restart.
This error is also after the last X server upgrade is still available. It is
not possible to connect a HDMI device.
When booting the kernel 3.13.0-40 everything works without error.
