[Bug 842194] Re: greeter doesn't start failed to load session file

2015-03-01 Thread Robert Ancell
Closing this bug. While you can always generate invalid configuration
the conf.d support means this should not be possible without specific
modification by a sysadmin. If invalid configuration occurs the correct
behaviour is for lightdm to exit with error and a system level tool to
handle this (i.e. warn / prompt the user to fix the configuration).

[Bug 842194] Re: greeter doesn't start failed to load session file

2015-03-01 Thread Robert Ancell
Modifying /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf from packages and/or using lightdm-
set-defaults was the old method of configuring greeters.

All packages should now install a configuration snippet into
/usr/share/lightdm/lightdm.conf.d/ - this ensures the configuration
always matches what is installed.

Only sysadmin specific overrides should be in /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf
and /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf.d/ - if you did not create this file
yourself it should be deleted.

[Bug 1299604] Re: evolution keeps asking for password

2015-03-01 Thread Parham
On my system (Ubuntu 14.04, Evolution 3.10.4, Seahorse 3.10.2) I did the
following

- uninstalled seahorse
- restarted laptop
- installed seahorse
- opened seahorse and in Login deleted all entries looking like Evolution
Data Source xxx..x@my-laptopname

- opened Evolution and was asked for password of each account
- closed seahorse and Evolution

after that the problem was solved!

Perhaps removal and reinstallation of seahorse is not necessary at all.
But I was just trying to do what @wmccarty described.

Try to delete in seahorse all Evolution... entries and then start
Evolution to see if the problems resolves (saves you few minutes). I
have the feeling that seahorse is not responsible for this error.

[Bug 1307168] Re: 046d:c05b [HP Pavilion g6-2152se Notebook PC] Logitech B110 USB mouse Randomly double clicks when I single click

2015-03-01 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
mohammad, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If
so, could you please test for this with the latest development release
of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com
/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xorg 1307168

Please ensure you have xdiagnose installed, and that you click the Yes
button for attaching additional debugging information.

As well, given the information from the prior release is already
available, testing a release prior to the development one would not be
helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.

This bug effects me as well. Let alone installation, I can't even use
Live CD due to this bug. Ubuntu is completely unusable. See more in this
thread (with screen shots). SuSe Linux boots and Works just fine but
Ubuntu hangs all the time.

My laptop has GTX880M 8GB GPU. Obviously this is an Nvidia related bug
and no importance is given to fix it. Shame for Linux community not to
support a top of the line graphics card in 2015.

As well, given the information from the prior release is already

[Bug 1309851] Re: Cursor doesn't load when switching accounts

2015-03-01 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Aaron Jensen, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an
issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development
release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xorg 1309851

Please ensure you have xdiagnose installed, and that you click the Yes
button for attaching additional debugging information.

Exactly, if I force with vgaswitcheroo to DIScrete (radeon), display goes off.
I think, since it is a muxless system, Radeon GPU have no populated display
port. Only works as gpu coprocessor.

 At a minimum, we need:
 1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the

 2. The behavior you expected, and
 3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).

[Bug 1427008] [NEW] Sync wmcube 1.0.1-1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

2015-03-01 Thread Doug Torrance
Public bug reported:

Please sync wmcube 1.0.1-1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

Changelog entries since current vivid version 1.0.0-1:

wmcube (1.0.1-1) unstable; urgency=medium

  * New upstream release.
  * debian/{install,wmc/*}
- Remove files; *.wmc added upstream.
  * debian/{manpages,wmcube.1}
- Remove files; manpage added upstream.
  * debian/patches
- Remove previous patches; applied upstream.
  * debian/patches/manpage_escape_hyphens.patch
- New patch; avoid hyphen-used-as-minus-sign Lintian warning.
  * debian/rules
- Update override_dh_auto_install target to set installation
directories. (These settings were originally in
  debian/patches/update_makefile.patch, which upstream applied
in part. Since these settings are more Debian-specific, I'm
  moving this to debian/rules.)

[Bug 1312448] Re: problems on reboot and start ups

2015-03-01 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
craig, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If
so, could you please test for this with the latest development release
of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xorg 1312448

Please ensure you have xdiagnose installed, and that you click the Yes

As well, given the information from the prior release is already
available, testing a release prior to the development one would not be
helpful.

[Bug 1316263] Re: ubuntu 14.04 not comming out of lock, sometimes

2015-03-01 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
s lozano, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better.
As per http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/product-
support/product/precision-t5400/drivers an update to your computer's
buggy and outdated BIOS is available (A11). If you update to this
following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change
anything?

If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the
output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette
.

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't
have to create a new bug report.

Once the BIOS is updated, and the information above is provided, then
please mark this report Status New.

Thank you for your understanding.

2015-03-01 Thread Matthew M. Dean
I was able to get fglrx and fglrx installed. What I did was download
both the main ubuntu driver, and the non-x driver which is fglrx-core
from amd's website. I dpkg -i fglrx-core.deb and apt-get install gksu
and libgcc1 and by this time apt-get -f install (without any packages)
was displayed to fix dependencies. After that I could dpkg -i fglrx and
everything works.

[Bug 1030858] Re: 0bda:8176 RTL8188CUS does not connect to wireless networks

2015-03-01 Thread DasJott
Seems not to be okay.
Installed 14.04-2 lts and using wifi usb dongle with rtl 8188UC chipset.

There are many many connection cuts. Mostly only the first request goes
through, maybe a second. Then it takes ages to load something. YOu have
to reconnect or even reboot to be able to use the net again

[Bug 1263064] Re: 'Replace' doesn't replace values

2015-03-01 Thread Richard Karolyi
Thanks for looking into this, but I think the bug is not actually fixed
yet:

I'm on utopic, leafpad version 0.8.18.1-4 and I can still reproduce this
bug.

Important note:
The bug does _NOT_ occur when the checkbox Replace all at once is selected.

Use the Replace window to manually replace some expressions using the
Find and Replace button (then click Yes a lot of times) while the
above mentioned checkbox is _UNCHECKED_ and you should run into the bug
immediatly.

[Bug 1316090] Re: Unable to drop/ place files and links on second screen in dual screen set up

2015-03-01 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Goth Queen, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If
so, could you please test for this with the latest development release
of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com
/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xorg 1316090

Please ensure you have xdiagnose installed, and that you click the Yes
button for attaching additional debugging information.

As well, given the information from the prior release is already
available, testing a release prior to the development one would not be
helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Bug 1247366] Re: Evolution is missing bogofilter integration

2015-03-01 Thread Marshall Giguere
Well, first it has to get fixed in Ubuntu, in any version: currently
there's no fix even in the upcoming 15.04.

Once that happens we can talk about whether it's possible to backport
it.

Is it possible to get this on Ubuntu's radar?

From my terminal, when loging in, I had the following 2 lines
[ 7.287663] systemd-logind[1057]: Failed to start unit user@1000.service:
Unknown unit: user@1000.service
[ 7.287677] systemd-logind[1057]: Failed to start user service: Unknown unit:
user@1000.service
But I could do what I wanted and start looking for a workaround (like using
lightdm)

How I fixed my initial problem: I changed the language of the login screen for
French (instead of German).
Why: Using lightdm, I saw that the month of the today date was '(null)'. In
German, March is März ... So I supposed any encoding compatibility problem
occured, probably better managed with lightdm (null) than with gdm (hangs).
And: It also removed the 2 error lines of systemd-logind

Voilà,
I hope it will help anyone

Re: [Bug 1422808] Re: ClamTk not updating

2015-03-01 Thread Herb (Irp Snerple) Anthony
I finally UN-installed it then reinstalled it, after the last update.
However, it looks different from what I remember. But then again, I've had
many versions. By the way, do you know or can you tell me what happened
to The Linux Ubuntu for Creative Humans?
That was the best program I ever used but turned my computer on one day and
it was gone. it wasn't any longer one of the two OS's .. I still had an
older version of the 14.10 which I now have.
Here's a screenshot anyway.I showed three windows so you can see the
version, and what the rest looks like., Thanks , Herb A.

[Bug 1401623] Re: 1002:674a [HP Z620 Workstation] Corrupted mouse cursor on one of the screens

2015-03-01 Thread Tynach
Christopher, it is unlikely that any automated tool is ever going to
capture this bug any more than it already has. It is much more
beneficial to find out why it might NOT happen, than why it DOES happen.
What's more, is that it seems that this bug is in the proprietary driver
upstream... So the most helpful thing we could do to get this fixed, is
to show how many people are affected.

Because the current way of doing things does not in any way show how
many people are affected, the current way of doing things will simply
not help. It is utterly flawed, and those articles don't help to address
this matter. For one thing, those articles are written with crashes and
bad behavior within open source software in mind - neither of which is
the case here.

[Bug 1426828] [NEW] libruby1.9.1 shouldn't install ruby or an alternative should be create who doesn't install ruby

2015-03-01 Thread Javier P.L.
Public bug reported:

Release of Ubuntu: Vivid, Trusty
Package Version: ruby1.9.1
Expected Results: vim-nox or any other program who depends on libruby should
install the library but not the whole ruby programming language
Actual Results: vim-nox install ruby since it depends on libruby and libruby
depends on ruby

According to:

   ruby1.9.1 (1.9.3.484-2) unstable; urgency=medium

 * new strategy for Ruby version transitions:
   - ruby1.9.1 depends on ruby
   - libruby1.9.1 depends on ruby1.9.1
 * Drop alternatives entries.

libruby1.9.1 now depends on ruby1.9.1. This causes than installations of
packages such us vim-nox (who depends on libruby) pull the whole ruby
programming language.

In my opinion it shouldn't be this way (unless the transition fixes some
important bugs). It could be suggested but not forced. vim-nox also
depends on liblua and its installation doesn't pull the Lua programming
language into the system.

[Bug 1426734] Re: Blender is too old

2015-03-01 Thread sunweb
Firefox is updated to the latest release for EVERY active Ubuntu
version(current stable and LTS) not just Vivid.
Blender does have fixed releases, noone expects to have the latest git version,
but the stable releases, yes, its logical to have those updated not just for
upcoming but nowadays supported distro versions. Otherwise whats the point of
repository if you have to download it on your own to run(in case with Blender
its easy as unpack and run) or compile it and maybe write a script that does
that. Ubuntu is a binary distro but its repos are useless for most of things.

the latest blender package was uploaded to Vivid on February the 3rd. Is that
forgetting about it?
I didn't forget, thats why i wrote this - latest aviliable version ... forget
about it until next Ubuntu release

Mozilla software have an exception to the archive freeze rule because of paid
maintainer
I see, so how about screw everythings else right?
There is a list of software that don't update frequently, are alive projects,
have nothing to do with DEs and are userspace programs(meaning it will not
break anything on update). The list isn't that big to begin with.
