[Bug 1216385] Re: [needs-packaging] scanbd

2015-03-03 Thread Rolf Leggewie
scanimage -L indeed doesn't work, but "SANE_CONFIG_DIR=/etc/scanbd
scanimage -L" does. So, I wonder if this is expected and things are
good now.

2015-03-03 Thread Rostam Dinyari
Hi,

My servers are all Ubuntu 12.04 and it's very difficult for me to switch to
14.04. Can you find a solution for the bug I reported for Ubuntu 12.04?

Thanks.

2015-03-03 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it
would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers
of the software by following the instructions at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. If you have done so, please
tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a
bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance.

2015-03-03 Thread Rolf Leggewie
On 04.03.2015 14:15, sander wrote:

I believe the better dependency for the package will be
"openbsd-inetutils|inet-superserver". That's taken care of now in
version 1.4.1-3rl4.

All the things you raised should thus be incorporated in the latest
non-release 3rl4 (which I believe I will release as 1.4.1-4 to
experimental and vivid today). I can see that scanbd now indeed
successfully calls the scripts. sane-find-scanner sees the scanner, but
scanimage -L does not. Does it show up for you?

Another thing that recently stopped working is scanbd -f from the
command line. Go figure.

BTW, are you having saned to start up automatically? Apparently, that
would be an error, even though I don't think it's mentioned clearly
anywhere within the already long docs. There's a lot of implicit
assumptions with configuration for saned and scanbd and I still find it
difficult to navigate the upstream docs.

Again, my hope is that eventually scanbd on Debian will just work after
installation without the need for any further intervention from the user.

[Bug 1427972] Re: Evince won't save PDF form

2015-03-03 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it
would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers
of the software by following the instructions at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. If you have done so, please
tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a
bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance.

[Bug 1427924] Re: autopkgtest failures if nvidia dkms module fails to build

2015-03-03 Thread Steve Langasek
Martin, the reason I filed this bug against ubuntu-drivers-common is
that the behavior of this package's tests is at odds with proposed-
migration. There is a new version of perl waiting to reach vivid, which
causes ubuntu-drivers-common's tests to be run and report a failure
because of a regression in a package that is *not* a dependency of
ubuntu-drivers-common. perl, or other dependencies of ubuntu-drivers-
common, shouldn't find themselves blocked because of a regression in an
nvidia driver package; and testing that the nvidia dkms drivers can be
built should happen /when the kernel package is updated/, which didn't
happen here. The tests are currently happening in the wrong place to be
useful for proposed-migration, and that should be fixed.

[Bug 1425981] Re: touchpad module unloaded after suspend and wake up

2015-03-03 Thread Su Heng
I am too stupid to locate the 'tags' , however, I did test for 3.18-vivid and
v4.0-rc2-vivid.
Both kernel works however v4.0 is partial successfully installed in my laptop.
Could you help to add tags, thank you so much.

BTW, my laptop has ability to switch to tablet mode (360-degree hinge) to
disable touch pad and enable after switch back from tablet mode, however,
doesn't work for ubuntu (originally works for windows). I tried v4.0-rc2-vivid
and no magic.
However, my keyboard is enable && disable between tablet mode & normal mode.
Is this related issue?

[Bug 1427374] Re: many gtk deprecation & "discouraged" warnings

2015-03-03 Thread Ross Gammon
jimav said : Should vivid use the new version 4.1.2? It sounds like they
fixe a lot of other bugs too.

Generally, packages come to Ubuntu via Debian, and Debian is in deep
freeze at the moment (due to the hopefully imminent release of Debian
Jessie). Therefore, only targated patches for specific release critical
bugs are getting through.

Once Jessie is released, I hope to package 4.1.2 and upload it to
backports. I will also try and backport it in Ubuntu.

The initctl emit failure looks related, this obviously won't work under

/run/systemd/system ], that's the canonical test.

[Bug 1427991] Re: Stop build-depending on private Qt headers

2015-03-03 Thread Timo Jyrinki
I've pushed branches for those that compile just fine without the
private headers.

For ubuntu-settings-components and ubuntu-keyboard, is it correct that
you're only using the private headers for tests and not anything that
gets installed into packages?

That would explain why they are not picking up the flag of using private
symbols. You can mark this Won't Fix if you can't get around using the
private stuff in tests. And thank you for not using them in the main
software!

But if you can find anything in eg. Qt 5.4 to get around your
QWindowSystemInterface::registerTouchDevice usage, that would be nice.
Or, convincing upstream to make it public. I also found

[Bug 1427998] [NEW] (cheese:6205): Gdk-WARNING **: The program 'cheese' received an X Window System error.

2015-03-03 Thread Rostam Dinyari
Public bug reported:

$ cheese

(cheese:6205): Gdk-WARNING **: The program 'cheese' received an X Window System
error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation)'.
  (Details: serial 178 error_code 2 request_code 131 minor_code 47)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the GDK_SYNCHRONIZE environment
variable to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

[Bug 1352962] Re: Not transparent system tray icon on LXDE

2015-03-03 Thread Brendan Perrine
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read "How to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!
4. What icon theme are you using for your desktop. Does changing the icon theme
change anything or is it the same in the system tray?

2015-03-03 Thread Kal Solette
They STILL haven't fixed something as fundamental as this?! It must
affect all AMD graphics users with post Radeon 4000 series. How on earth
do Canonical expect to succeed in any market when something as basic as
installing a bloody graphics driver isn't possible or promptly fixed?
And as always from Canonical, NO communication. So amateurish!

[Bug 1288308] Re: wrong background image

2015-03-03 Thread Brendan Perrine
As lubuntu does not run a composite manager by default with a
transparent panel the desktop background showing through on the panel is
the expected behavior. If you want compositing in lubuntu you could
install a composite manager like compton for transparency but this would
make lubuntu heavier which is why it is not included by default.

[Bug 1427991] [NEW] Stop build-depending on private Qt headers

2015-03-03 Thread Timo Jyrinki
Public bug reported:

Your package is build-depending on either qtbase5-private-dev or
qtdeclarative5-private-dev, but it does not seem to use any symbols
marked as private. Even if it would use private headers, please consider
stopping using those since there may be incompatible changes in future
Qt versions.

Depend only on the qtbase5-dev and/or qtdeclarative5-dev.

The reason for this bug is to both limit private headers usage and to
keep better track of the users.

2015-03-03 Thread Martin Pitt
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1333140 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1333140

Please note that it's very unlikely that the computer's BIOS has anyhing
to do with this. It's the linux kernel which exposes these RPMB devices,
and this issue is well understood. It's certainly not "incomplete" from
a "we don't know enough to understand this problem" view.

[Bug 1062617] Re: No network scanner autodetection by backend kodakaio

2015-03-03 Thread Rolf Leggewie
Paul, thank you for the reply. I am glad to hear you still have access
to the hardware. I don't understand why you think working on this bug
is still worth the effort when you believe that a similar problem is
likely to exist in avahi. Can you elaborate? It would be great if you
were able to confirm or refute that suspicion, too.

[Bug 1416849] Re: Booted into blank screen after the security update

2015-03-03 Thread Aikawa Takuya
Thanks for your advice, Christopher.

I've just done the BIOS update and tested booting.

With the 3.13.0-45 and 3.13.0-46 kernel:
The backlight turns off (as normal boot process) and on with some oddly
scrambled lines,
then the screen generally becomes white. While the screen whiting out, the log
in drum rings.

With the 3.13.0-44 kernel, my laptop boots successfully.

The output of the dmidecode commands:
X200MA.504
11/13/2014

Thanks.

[Bug 1427981] Re: pthread_join failure

2015-03-03 Thread Peng Tao
Another thing to note, which might be root cause of the bug, is that
join_func() appears to be called multiple times according to the program
output:

Joining thread 0
thread 0 joined!
Joining thread 1
thread 0 joined!
Joining thread 1

There is no way the program would want to join a thread multiple times.

[Bug 1427982] [NEW] libtest-requiresinternet-perl test suite requires Internet

2015-03-03 Thread Steve Langasek
Public bug reported:

The libtest-requiresinternet-perl package uses the generic pkg-perl-
autopkgtest harness, which tests that the module can be imported with no
errors and no output.

The Test::RequiresInternet perl module, on import, immediately checks
that it can reach www.google.com, and if it can't, it outputs an error.

This is not an appropriate thing for a package to be doing in its
autopkgtest test suite. The test runners are not guaranteed to have an
(unfirewalled) Internet connection, and the package test should not
depend on the Internet being reachable.

[Bug 1427981] [NEW] pthread_join failure

2015-03-03 Thread Peng Tao
Public bug reported:

pthread_join() appears to behave differently depending on gcc
optimization is on or off. Build the attached source file with gcc -O2
or gcc -O0 has shown different joining results.

E.g., with `gcc pthread_join.c -lpthread -g -O2` it passes without
issue.

with `gcc pthread_join.c -lpthread -g -O0`, the program fails at
pthread_join() with ESRCH.

The same does not happen on other distros (tested on CentOS and Fedora).

The module also says that setting NO_NETWORK_TESTING in the environment

the test *also* outputs a message saying the test has been skipped.

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1395635 ***

Actually it's working now. I tried these two things (not sure what fixed
it). I get audio but still get those errors in the log (that's why I
kept on trying things but apparently one of these fixed it, or maybe the
combination)"

I did this:

1 - open a terminal and type: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:sunab/kdenlive-release
2 - sudo apt-get update
3 - sudo apt-get install libmlt6
4 - sudo apt-get install libmlt++3

Then I did this: https://askubuntu.com/questions/541635/no-audio-in-

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Reviewing your dmesg attachment in this bug report it
seems that there is a problem with your hardware. I recommend
performing a back up and then investigating the situation. Measures you
might take include checking cable connections and using software tools
to investigate the health of your hardware. In the event that is is not
in fact an error with your hardware please set the bug's status back to

[Bug 864735] Re: [ATI HDMI] HDMI Audio Disabled by Default (since oneiric)

2015-03-03 Thread madbiologist
@sergiodavies - You seem to have four DisplayPort monitors connected.
If this is the case, you have a different bug. Nevertheless, I can
advise here that support for DisplayPort audio on AMD Radeon hardware is
finally available in the upstream Linux 4.0 kernel.

A PPA of the 4.0-rc2 kernel is available at http://kernel.ubuntu.com
/~kernel-ppa/mainline/ and instructions on how to install and uninstall
it are at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds

Please always include the version of systemd in the bug report.

But luckily, this was just fixed:
