[Bug 1434521] Re: account-polld does not recognize when messages are cleared

2015-04-20 Thread Niklas Wenzel
Looking at the recent changes in indicator-messages, I believe this is
related either to https://code.launchpad.net/~ted/indicator-
messages/lp1385331-unescape-message-ids/+merge/250235 or
https://code.launchpad.net/~larsu/indicator-
messages/lp1386584/+merge/240773. The latter has some complaints about
the Clear all button in the MP discussion.

[Bug 1445829] Re: No video playback possible - side pane empty

2015-04-20 Thread Nicolas Delvaux
Thanks Sam.

Strangely enough, today the plugin is also broken for me: I got the same wrong
URL as you. I don't know why it worked yesterday for me and not for you.
Arte made some changes on the website and it broke the plugin.

I proposed a patch upstream and I updated my PPA with new packages version:
https://launchpad.net/~malizor/+archive/ubuntu/ppa

Here, videos are now playing again. Let me know if it works for you.

Regarding your issue to display the video list, this is apparently a
network issue. I have no such problem, so perhaps it's only on your
side. Is the Arte website also slow for you? You may want to try from
another Internet connection.

Cheers,
Nicolas

[Bug 1268257] Re: nvidia-331-updates 331.38-0ubuntu3: nvidia-331-updates kernel module failed to build, with only error: objdump: '... .tmp_nv.o': No such file

2015-04-20 Thread KennoVO
@stephen (stephen-puttick) : I don't think that's needed; it is my
understanding from lp:1431753 that this bug is already fully
characterized, and fixed for the 340 and 346 drivers in Utopic and
Vivid. Furthermore, the fact that the fix appears to be performed at the
level of the metadata strongly suggests that it would be absolutely
trivial to apply the same fix to the 331 drivers in (un)Trust(worth)y.

Canonical might have their reasons for not backporting the fix to
their LTS release, but as long as the only noise we get from them is
crickets chirping, it is hardly surprising that the community is
starting to ask questions about their motives and/or professionalism...

[Bug 1252266] Re: Corrupted low memory after resume from suspend after updating to saucy

2015-04-20 Thread Deje
Based on forum thread at Arch
(https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=189483) this seems to be a
bug in the BIOS. And it seems that the message is just for diagnostics,
and has no direct cause on suspend/resume problems.

However I still experience the same issue, that after resuming from
sleep mode the ethernet does not work. Most of time killall
NetworkManager works, but not always. And I also have a Gigabyte
board...

Using 12.04.5 I had no issues with suspend/resume.

[Bug 1435328] Re: Leaving Wifi does not connect to mobile carrier data (GSM)

2015-04-20 Thread Tony Espy
@Alfonso

So looking closer at NM 0.9.8, the routing is updated by nm-policy.c in
its device_state_changed() function. It calls update_routing_and_dns()
in several places, which in turn calls update_ip4_routing(), which in
turn calls nm_system_replace_default_ip4_route(). Only the last
function returns an error code, so if adding the default route fails,
the error doesn't bubble up, and the system is left partially
configured.

I hacked nm_system_replace_default_ip4_route() to return an error on
it's third invocation, then rebooted the system with WiFi disabled.
The first call to replace_default_ip4_route() happens when the mobile
data connection is established on reboot. Next I activated WiFi and the
phone connected to an AP, that's the second route call. Finally I
disabled WiFi and this triggers the third route call which fails. At
this point we have a connection that NM still thinks is connected, with
an empty routing table.

Next I deactivated the context manually, and NM turned around and re-
established the connection, so I *think* this proves that the scenario
you described in comment #26 isn't happening with NM 0.9.8.

At this point, as changing the NM logic isn't super straight-forward, I
would suggest that we don't attempt to patch NM for utopic-RTM at this
point, unless someone else is able to prove for certain that NM can get
wedged in a bad state when the routing configuration fails.

[Bug 1434774] Re: lxpanel volume applet settings opens empty terminal window

2015-04-20 Thread Walter Lapchynski
Henk, that's an old lxsession and afaik there were major changes in 0.5,
so I don't think it's related.

LXQt 0.9 (official upstream) builds off of lxqt-session:
https://github.com/lxde/lxqt/issues/349
where as the official lxqt-metapackage comments it out:
https://bazaar.launchpad.net/~lubuntu-dev/lxde/lxqt-metapackage/view/head:/debian/control
That being said, I'm going to assume that's different enough, too, to not
warrant a comparison.

I guess we might have this fixed easy once we go to LXQt XD

[Bug 1437394] Re: X freezes for unknown reason

2015-04-20 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
rkidder, if you update to the Trusty enablement stack as noted in
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/LTSEnablementStack is this still
reproducible?

** Description changed:

Every once in a while, X will just completely freeze. It happens at
seemingly random times and is not related to any one thing I'm doing. I
can go to another machine and ssh in and kill X to recover. But X itself
is locked up. The only thing that works is the mouse cursor which I can
move around at will. But the UI doesn't react or change at all. I can't
raise or lower windows, the seconds on my clock applet to increment, the
graphs in applets and in gkrellm are frozen.

[Bug 1434581] Re: Console extremely slow with 3.13 and newer kernels for certified servers with Matrox G200er2 or similar

2015-04-20 Thread Mike Jester
I added the change from the SAUCE patch in May of 2011 to 3.13.0-48 and
rebuilt. It fixes the problem.

-static int mtrr __read_mostly; /* disable mtrr */
+static int mtrr __read_mostly = 3; /* disable mtrr */

I've attached the kernel, 3-13.0-48.80+testfb.

Have we lost all our emails in KMail because of this, or can something

[Bug 1446409] Re: package nfs-common 1:1.2.8-9ubuntu1.1 failed to install/upgrade: sub-processo script post-installation instalado retornou estado de saída de erro 6

2015-04-20 Thread Steve Langasek
Running Ubuntu 14.10 with systemd instead of upstart is not supported -
because of incomplete support in packages such as this. If you need
systemd, you should upgrade to 15.04 when it is released. If you don't,
you should stick with upstart as init until you've upgraded.

[Bug 1445219] Re: aa-logprof hangs indefinitely in Ubuntu 14.04 LTS

2015-04-20 Thread Christian Boltz
As I expected, one of the log lines is

type=AVC msg=audit(1429552705.245:1376430): apparmor=DENIED
operation=ptrace
profile=/usr/lib/nagios/plugins/check_denyhosts.pl///bin/ps pid=2855
comm=ps requested_mask=trace denied_mask=trace
peer=/usr/lib/nagios/plugins/check_denyhosts.pl

and that (and the backtrace) confirms that you hit the problem that this
is a duplicate of bug 1307665, therefore I'm closing it for upstream
AppArmor. I'll leave the Ubuntu part open - an update is really
needed...

For testing with latest upstream code - I assume you still have the tools,
libapparmor etc. still installed and additionally downloaded the tarball. (If
you uninstalled some packages, please re-install them.)

Your error message indicates that that the 2.9.1 tools can't find the python
LibAppArmor bindings, so either it's not installed or it's built for a
different python version (I'm not using Ubuntu, therefore I don't know version
details). You can try with different python interpreters:
python2 ./aa-logprof # or
python3 ./aa-logprof

This bug was already fixed in 2.9.0, even if the target milestone says

[Bug 1446312] Re: On Thinkpad T431s, plugged-in AC adapter not detected

2015-04-20 Thread Asa Zernik
On further testing, this looks like a hardware failure; the timing with
the kernel upgrade is probably coincidence. Booting to an older kernel
does not fix the problem, and charge detection works as expected when
using the dock connector.

(Turns out the laptop was also not *charging* when plugged in and
powered on, but would charge when plugged in and powered off. Weird, but
probably not software's fault?)

[Bug 1446298] Re: Should show power dialog when turning on screen with a long-press

2015-04-20 Thread Michael Terry
Wait, I did some market research. I don't know about iOS, but Android
does the following:

1) Screen comes on upon button press (not button release like we do)
2) The power dialog still does not show after it comes on and you keep holding
the button

I think #1 makes sense to do. And #2 makes me wonder if we want to show
the dialog either. Looping in design team.

[Bug 1446397] [NEW] Sloppy focus mode no longer gives focus to next window, when one window is closed

2015-04-20 Thread Christopher Barrington-Leigh
Public bug reported:

This seems like a regression to me.

Under 15.04, I have set focus mode to sloppy, as I have in many
previous editions.

When there are two windows open, for instance each taking up half the screen,
and I close the one over which the mouse is lying, I end up with the focus on
the desktop (ie, not in any window) if there's no other window open, or in
whatever window is underlying the mouse, if there is one there, even when it is
not next in line (ie next highest in the focus or z stack).
I think that is mouse mode, not sloppy mode.

It used to be the case that when I close a window, the focus will go to the
next window on the screen, rather than to whatever the mouse is over. This is
the behaviour I still desire.

on a 802.11n 2.4GHz network, 2-3200ms latency pinging just the gateway
192.168.1.1, with no network load on either the router or the WiFi
chipset. The computer is ~4 feet away from a Verizon Jetpack MiFi 5510L,
with no obstructions between them. Other clients (Ubuntu with different
chipset, Windows) don't have this problem. The mainline 4.0 kernel works
much better (0% packet loss, 1-150ms latency even with 24 Mbps load
between the WiFi chipset and router).
-
- Testing the Vivid kernel resulted in no keyboard, or mouse
- functionality.

[Bug 1444057] Re: gdb remote target of a guest VM fails to continue

2015-04-20 Thread Chris J Arges
I measured bootup times on an idle host by rebooting a VM and logging the same
event in dmesg 15 times. Before it took an average of 9.8934s w/ stdev of 0.32.
After installing the new version it took 9.8159s w/ stdev of 0.34.

In addition before the total size of /usr/bin/qemu-system-* was 136878083 after
it was 135008515.

So it seems that size of binaries decreases, while enabling more functionality.
In addition, boot times seem comparable but it isn't definitively slower or
faster.

[Bug 1091464] Re: Unable to chainload Windows 8 with Secure Boot enabled

2015-04-20 Thread Brian Visel
This bug affects me on my Dell Inspiron 15 7537, running Ubuntu 15.04.

* Secure Boot Enabled
* Grub (at least as configured) can't boot windows
* By switching the primary boot entry in the BIOS (or by using the F-12 boot
menu) I can boot to either Windows or Linux
* rEFInd is able to recognize and boot the windows partition

..since my BIOS provides an EFI-Enabled boot menu, this issue doesn't
affect me much, as I can skip GRUB. ..but some folks need to go into
their BIOS to change the default boot order (or enable/disable secure
boot) in order for things to work.

[Bug 1407700] Re: package whoopsie 0.2.39ubuntu0.1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess new pre-removal script returned error exit status 100

2015-04-20 Thread Brian Murray
I was unable to recreate this when upgrading from U to V today and its
likely was fixed by this upload.

whoopsie (0.2.47) vivid; urgency=medium

  [ Didier Roche ]
  * Remove /etc/default/whoopsie conffile and avoid upgrade prompt:
(LP: #1431432)
- debian/whoopsie.maintscript: get it removed on upgrade
- debian/whoopsie.preinst: copy the optional report_metrics value if set
by gnome-control-center capplet to /etc/whoopsie (not a conffile).
  (LP: #1412719)
Refactor the logic for caching report_crashes as well.
- debian/whoopsie.postinst: enhance the logic to ensure we don't have the
service started after upgrade and keep it disable if it was disabled
- Makefile, data/whoopsie: remove the conffile so that we don't ship it
  * Bump Standards-Version

  [ Michael Blennerhassett ]
  * Under upstart: Set the WAIT_STATE to get wait-for-state to do something
useful. GOAL is also not needed.

[Bug 1056895] Re: ubiquity apport hook crashes

2015-04-20 Thread Brian Murray
apport now doesn't crash on errors with package hooks and instead adds
an attachment to bug reports with the title HookError...ubiquity or
something close to that. Either way, I haven't seen any HookError
attachments with recent ubiquity bug reports so lets assume this was
fixed.
