[Bug 1444436] Re: [BDW GT3] Backport fixes to unbreak X

2015-04-22 Thread John doe
*** dirty temp workaround for hurry people ***
If you want to use SNA on Ubuntu 14.04 with lts enablement stack while waiting
for the patched xserver-xorg-video-intel-lts-utopic package, you may just
replace the following files with the same files coming from the
xserver-xorg-video-intel ([1] or [2]) package in trusty-proposed version (do it
in tty1 for example as you will replace in use driver! ):
/usr/lib/libI810XvMC.so.1.0.0
/usr/lib/libIntelXvMC.so.1.0.0
/usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/intel_drv.so

Don't forget to remove any conf file you may have added to use XNA in
/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/.

This is really dirty, I don't know what will happen when the official
package will come (don't forget to backup original files), but at least
it seems to work for me !

[Bug 1447246] [NEW] Flickr warns about an unsupported browser

2015-04-22 Thread Michael Terry
Public bug reported:

I don't know exactly where to file this. But here goes:

- Go to the Nearby scope
- Click on a Flickr image
- Click View on Flickr
- The browser opens on Flickr with a page that says: Grass could be greener on
this side and You seem to be using an unsupported browser. To get the most
out of Flickr please upgrade to the latest version of Chrome, Safari, Firefox,
or Internet Explorer.

There's a tiny white button that says No thanks, take me to the site
anyway

But users shouldn't see this page if possible. I realize this is best
solved on the Flickr side. Is there anything we can do in the meantime?
Or someone that can talk to Flickr?

I have this same machine and am affected by the same issue. I have
applied the A04 version of the OEM BIOS and the problem is unchanged. I
have read elsewhere that it is an issue with too many digitizer inputs
(touch screen touchpad), can you please advise how to disable the
touch screen digitizer to allow the touchpad to be recognized.

[Bug 1446584] Re: [krillin] On airplane mode battery discharge more rapidly than with airplane mode off

2015-04-22 Thread Ricardo Salveti
So we're consuming more power when flight mode is enabled because push-
client is holding the suspend blocker for more time than when you have a
working connection (flight mode disabled) in place.

From logs, with radio on:
 7869 Apr 21 09:15:12 ubuntu-phablet powerd[930]: handle_requestSysState from
:1.132 - ACTIVE (1)
 7896 Apr 21 09:15:18 ubuntu-phablet powerd[930]: handle_clearSysState from
:1.132, cookie: 2cca2d22-cef5-4f53-bd45-49f04d3dded5

With radio off:
  515 Apr 21 12:15:12 ubuntu-phablet powerd[930]: handle_requestSysState from
:1.132 - ACTIVE (1)
  558 Apr 21 12:16:12 ubuntu-phablet powerd[930]: handle_clearSysState from
:1.132, cookie: 4a98dd84-ce27-42e6-b7ff-c17089ad301f

So push wakes up the device at every 5 minutes and keeps it awake for an
entire 1 minute (probably the timeout for not finding a connection).

[Bug 1446909] Re: pkill kills self when called from C program

2015-04-22 Thread Ben Greear
I did some extra testing on this bug today.

I compiled and installed the latest procps-ng (3.3.10) on Ubuntu 14.04 i386,
and it sees the problem:

greearb@v-ubuntu-14-04-i386:~$ ./test-pkill
System command failed: ERROR: system command pkill -f my-funky-cmdline
terminated with signal 15

greearb@v-ubuntu-14-04-i386:~$ pkill --version
pkill from procps-ng 3.3.10

But, exact same procps and test-pkill code works fine on Fedora-20:

[greearb@v-f20-32 ~]$ ./test-pkill
System command failed: ERROR: system command pkill -f my-funky-cmdline had

[Bug 1413555] Re: init script fails with error code 0 when configuration test doesn't pass

Also, please elaborate what you mean by 'certain configuration
management tools' - unless they're used regularly by a substantial
portion of existence (such as a well known configuration management
tool) then I'm not sure the actual impact.

Until that's clarified, I'm marking importance on this as Low against
the nginx package as it doesn't necessarily effect the operation of the
package or executable.

[Bug 1446507] Re: Could not load AWSTemplateFormatVersion.2010-09-09: testscenarios=0.4

2015-04-22 Thread Ryan Beisner
I also hit this issue with Trusty-Kilo heat deployments.

Installing python-testscenarios and python-testresources on the heat
unit resolved as a workaround, but is probably not the right/permanent
fix.

Confirmed in 1.4.6-1ubuntu3.2 from trusty-updates. Not tested with

I'm marking this as Confirmed against Trusty, however it needs testing
in Utopic and Vivid to determine the full extent of what's affected.

[Bug 1446987] Re: hpps (and other HPLIP components) should not crash in error situations

2015-04-22 Thread Till Kamppeter
To the HPLIP developers at HP: See my changed bug description.

** Description changed:

+ The filter hpps crashes (Python Traceback) on a broken pipe on stdout
+ when the subsequent filter (the hp backend) errors out due to a network
+ problem (see comment #8). As Linux distributions have automatic crash
+ handling/reporting systems this causes annoying pop-ups which irritate
+ the users giving the impression of a more severe problem.
+
+ To the HPLIP developers at HP: Please check all components for possible
+ crashes in error situations.
+
+ Original report:
+
  I have a HP Laserjet pro 200 color MFP M276n which was configured and
  working normally. I have it configured both directly with an USB
  connection, and through the network with a fixed IP.

  Since a recent cups update (I believe), network printing does not work
  any more but the USB connection still works. When I try to print through
  the network I get a message telling me that the job has been send, and
  then I get a crash report. I don't know why apport is not intercepting
  the crash report, so I attach it manually here. In the properties
  window of the printer I see Idle - Filter failed and in the printer
  queue the job is held.

[Bug 1447192] Re: package supertuxkart-data (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: cannot copy extracted data for './usr/share/games/supertuxkart/data/tracks/startrack/metaloverlap.png' to '/usr/s

2015-04-22 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that there was an error on your system when
trying to install a particular package. Please execute the following
command, as it will clear your package cache, in a terminal:

sudo apt-get clean

Then try performing the update again. This will likely resolve your
issue, but the failure could be caused by filesystem or memory
corruption. So please also run a fsck on your filesystem(s) and a
memory test.  Thanks in advance!

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 1446830] Re: can't find uninstalled packages on a system installed with the alternate image

2015-04-22 Thread Jörn Schönyan
No, it is clearly a design flaw. While the DB is being generated, it
drops every package without installation candidate. On the alternate
install, there are no informations about the avaible packages so
everything is dropped, if it isn't installed. That is why DB is that
small, it should be around 80 megs (see #2).

Running apt-get update as postinst would have no effect if no internet
connection is avaible (not sure if it works with internet). To be
honest, I don't see a good fix for this. We could avoid dropping of
entries without installation candidate, but that would mean that
uninstallable packages appear in LSC.

[Bug 1447160] [NEW] lxc-create template does not include /etc/hosts hostname resolution

2015-04-22 Thread Antoni Segura Puimedon
Public bug reported:

1) Ubuntu 14.04 creating an Ubuntu 12.04 lxc container.
2) Version: 1.0.7-0ubuntu0.1
3) /etc/hosts should have been:
127.0.0.1 localhost

# The following lines are desirable for IPv6 capable hosts
::1 ip6-localhost ip6-loopback
fe00::0 ip6-localnet
ff00::0 ip6-mcastprefix
ff02::1 ip6-allnodes
ff02::2 ip6-allrouters
ff02::3 ip6-allhosts
127.0.1.1 hostname

4)  /etc/hosts was:
   127.0.0.1 localhost

# The following lines are desirable for IPv6 capable hosts
::1 ip6-localhost ip6-loopback
fe00::0 ip6-localnet
ff00::0 ip6-mcastprefix
ff02::1 ip6-allnodes
ff02::2 ip6-allrouters
ff02::3 ip6-allhosts
127.0.1.1 hostname

According to http://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/debian-
reference/ch05.en.html#_the_hostname_resolution the loopback address to
use in this case is 127.0.1.1 and it is what for example maas
provisioning does. This would help software that expects the hostname be
resolvable work inside lxc containers.

[Bug 1446027] Re: SNA acceleration causes sudden shutdowns and corrupts CMOS data on the the Asus UX21E ultrabook on a wide variety of kernels since at least Ubuntu 14.04

2015-04-22 Thread Simon
Okay, I'll download a regular Ubuntu 14.04.2 LiveCD and use it to
prepare the diagnostics info. I won't be using a modified BIOS at that
time.

I'm currently switching between the latest official and my custom BIOS.
The latest BIOS 214 is known to have caused similar behavior in WIndows
8.1, and earlier BIOS versions are sheerly unusable because they cause a
shutdown every time AC is unplugged while CPU is under strain (that's
why they had to make the 214 version)

BTW, when running on AC, Kubuntu 14.10 Plasma Next boots some three
seconds faster off an SSD with my modified BIOS, as compared to the
vanilla BIOS. Also no shutdowns so far. Prompts me thinking it was buggy
CPU microcode that under certain conditions provoked abnormal power
consumption peaks / some other undesirable effects that backfied when
running on low battery.

[Bug 1447169] [NEW] Swipe to remove phone notifications should not use Delete

2015-04-22 Thread Cormac
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu phone notifications 14.10 (r21)

When you swipe right to remove a notification it indicates a dustbin
icon and says delete - this is confusing as you think it may delete
the message or email. You don't really talk of deleting notifications.

It should say Clear like it does for the Clear All below the notifications,
because all you are doing is clearing the notification.
The icon should also be changed from a dustbin to a check mark of some sort.
