[Bug 1438494] Re: ghostscript fails to correctly substitute cidf fonts
Apologies, Till, for the delayed reply - I *thought* replying on a bug also subscribed me to it, but clearly not! (I have subscribed now). There is a bit of guess work here, as I don't fully understand the file locations. We are mainly concerned with the cidfmap file. Now, there is a set of cidfmap files in "/etc/ghostscript/cidfmap.d/" and those (it appears) are used by the "/usr/sbin/update-gsfontmap" script (poor name, as it adds to the confusion that Fonts and CIDFonts are the same thing!), to update the *actual* cidfmap which is in "/var/lib/ghostscript/fonts/cidfmap". It is not at all clear to me how the "update-gsfontmap" script gets run - possibly only as a package post-install step? The files in "/etc/ghostscript/cidfmap.d/" are as follows (file name + TTF font(s) referenced): 90gs-cjk-resource-cns1.conf - ukai.ttc, uming.ttc 90gs-cjk-resource-gb1.conf - ukai.ttc, uming.ttc 90gs-cjk-resource-japan1.conf - fonts-japanese-mincho.ttf, fonts-japanese-gothic.ttf 90gs-cjk-resource-japan2.conf - ttf-japanese-mincho.ttf, ttf-japanese-gothic.ttf 90gs-cjk-resource-korea1.conf - NanumMyeongjo.ttf, NanumBarunGothic.ttf, NanumBarunGothicBold.ttf, NanumGothic.ttf NOTE: there is some inconsistency (possibly bitrot) there with "fonts- japanese-*.ttf" used in one file and "ttf-japanese-*.ttf" used in another - clearly the same font, but likely different "generations" of name. My two alternate solutions are that the Ghostscript package should be augmented to include the fonts listed above (with the names and paths updated to reflect the current directory tree etc) as dependencies, thus they always get installed with Ghostscript. *Or* to split off (I *think*) the files in "/etc/ghostscript/cidfmap.d/" into something like a "ghostscript-cjk-cidfonts" package, which has those fonts listed above as dependencies (again with names and paths revised for a modern system). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1438494 Title: ghostscript fails to correctly substitute cidf fonts To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ghostscript/+bug/1438494/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1203559] Re: wodim doesn't find my DVD writer
Hey everybody, Research took me to 2 promising end - 1 of which was you guys over here and the other one the probably well known README.ATAPI stuff. after shortly reading into README.ATAPI i was quite shure that it could not handle my actual problem simply due to its release date and the fact, that in newer articles about cdrkit and wodim it didnt get mentioned anymore (also my brasero was never out of order by any means - i was always able to use that prog to its full functionality, just when i started to get inetrested in burning via terminal i even realized sth is probably not 100% in place). I still read through most of it, just for the sake of knowledge.(without learning that much sadly i am pretty new to the world of linux). Since i was anyway about to format and resetup my notebook, i wanted to give 1 thing a shot. i created a softlink /etc/cdrw -> /etc/sr0 (my actual disk drive) after realizing that /etc/cdrom exactly such a link. in /etc/wodim.conf i changed the value of CDR_DEVICE from cdrom to cdrw and i set cdrw=/dev/sr0. That worked out perfectly wodim finally did his duties. i am very sorry in case i am not telling anybody anything usefull, i was not sure whether to post at all, since my brasero and file manager never occured to have a problem, also the topic is not the latest. My wodim situation however was 100% identical to what you explained. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1203559 Title: wodim doesn't find my DVD writer To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cdrkit/+bug/1203559/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1452547] Re: Report cpu frequency throttling
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1452547/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that there was an error on your system when trying to install a particular package. Please execute the following command, as it will clear your package cache, in a terminal: sudo apt-get clean Then try performing the update again. This will likely resolve your issue, but the failure could be caused by filesystem or memory corruption. So please also run a fsck on your filesystem(s) and a memory test. Thanks in advance! [Bug 1452547] [NEW] Report cpu frequency throttling
Public bug reported: == Comment: #0 - Shilpasri G. Bhat - 2015-05-06 07:24:11 == The user can see a drop in performance when frequency is throttled and is unaware of throttling. So detect and report such a condition, so the user can check the OCC status to reboot the system or check for power supply or fan failures. The cpu frequency can be throttled by OCC for the following reasons: 1)If a processor crosses its power and temperature limit then OCC will lower its Pmax to reduce the frequency and voltage. 2)If OCC crashes then the system is forced to Psafe frequency. 3)If OCC fails to recover then the kernel is not allowed to do any further frequency changes and the chip will remain in Psafe. [Bug 1374898] Re: Vim has 32-bitlimits; annoying on really large files and 64-bit machine
Just to test this out, I created a 4.7G file of just '\n' and I see exactly the behavior described. I then tried a simple change (attached, based on 7.4.728) to have Vim use LONG_MAX for MAXLNUM rather than the hard-coded value. Now Vim didn't stop loading the file partway through, but it did get killed by the OOM killer after taking up 14G of RAM. ** Patch added: "lnum-long.diff" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/vim/+bug/1374898/+attachment/4392692/+files/lnum-long.diff -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1374898 Title: Vim has 32-bitlimits; annoying on really large files and 64-bit machine To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/vim/+bug/1374898/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1452542] [NEW] rhythmbox-mozilla should be suggested not recommended
Public bug reported: Most other NPAPI plugins have been dropped from the Ubuntu-family default install (totem - ubuntu, gecko-mediaplayer - lubuntu), we should default to not having the rhytmbox-mozilla plugin installed as well. Reasoning: * privacy/tracking implications in including plugins [1] * NPAPI is being disabled in Chrome/Chromium [2] this does affect this indirectly as "real" iTunes will have to show it is installed another way (or hopefully they could just start using standards..) * Plugin support is being deprecated in Firefox and will trigger click-to-play, which AFAICT may make this itunes plugin useless.[3] Totem also just removed their browser plugins for the above and some technical reasons (the technical reasons don't seem applicable to the itunes plugin though) [3] (Also proposed upstream to just remove the support entirely, no response yet - https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=729285) [1] https://panopticlick.eff.org/ [2] https://groups.google.com/a/chromium.org/forum/#!msg/chromium-dev/xEbgvWE7wMk/D_07G2lftacJ [3] http://www.hadess.net/2014/04/good-bye-totem-browser-plugin.html 1) For 15.10+ 2) 3.1-1ubuntu3 ** Affects: rhythmbox (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1452542 Title: rhythmbox-mozilla should be suggested not recommended To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rhythmbox/+bug/1452542/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1452541] [NEW] Fullscreen window for streaming video (YouTube, HBO Go, etc.) freezing
Public bug reported: This only started happening in 15.04, and it only seems to happen when I use the video player's native fullscreen option (I sometimes use Flash Game Maximizer if I'm hooked up to a dual monitor setup, and this problem doesn't happen then). Basically, I'm unable to make videos fullscreen because once I do, the video slows, then stutters, then completely freezes (but the audio continues unimpaired). [Bug 1452537] [NEW] Not packaged to support python3
Public bug reported: Upstream supports python3 (See PKG-INFO), but python3 support is not included in the packaging. Adding python3 packaging is trivial, particularly since this had to go through New anyway. Re: [Bug 1449549] Re: upon wake up from suspend, mouse driver will not load. must then do hard reset.
OK, as I read it, pm trace exists. I suspend laptop both by selecting menu option and closing lid. I resume by opening lid or hitting power button. I guess you want me to do "resume-trace" debugging??? I'm sure I could get as far as "dmesg > dmesg.txt" but beyond that I'm not sure. Please advise. On Wed, May 6, 2015 at 4:03 PM, Christopher M. [Bug 1452087] Re: slapd [or its init script] does not create necessary directory for nssov socket and fails to start
there was an apparmor message logged: May 6 22:52:05 server kernel: audit: type=1400 audit(1430967118.381:12): apparmor="DENIED" operation="mkdir" profile="/usr/sbin/slapd" name="/run/nslcd/" pid=1419 comm="slapd" requested_mask="c" denied_mask="c" fsuid=108 ouid=108 adding to /etc/apparmor.d/local/usr.sbin.slapd [among some other things]: /etc/ldap/pki/** rw, /{,var/}run/slapd/* rw, /{,var/}run/nslcd/ rw, /{,var/}run/nslcd/* rw, seems to have addressed that, but the directory still isn't created. temporarily changing /run/ to 777 seem to reinforce rtandy's reference. the directory is then created, but not with adequate permissions: dr-xr-xr-x 2 openldap openldap 40 May 6 23:01 nslcd/ slapd[2357]: nssov: bind() to /var/run/nslcd/socket failed: Permission denied adjusting them manually after creation confirms this, and slapd then starts. at the moment, i've added the following to the init script: NSSOV_SOCKETDIR='/var/run/nslcd' start_slapd() { [ -d "${NSSOV_SOCKETDIR}" ] || ( mkdir -m 755 "${NSSOV_SOCKETDIR}" ; \ chown openldap.openldap "${NSSOV_SOCKETDIR}" ) which solves the problem for me [albeit the wrong way, imo], since it's blindly doing it regardless of if the overlay is actually in use. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1452087 Title: slapd [or its init script] does not create necessary directory for nssov socket and fails to start To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openldap/+bug/1452087/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1404300] Re: After restarting docker daemon, unable to restart existing containers
I can reproduce this on Trusty (1.0.1~dfsg1-0ubuntu1~ubuntu0.14.04.1) but not on my test 1.6.0 package that didn't include the workaround in Wily. So I presume this is somehow fixed upstream and a patch is no longer needed. When we push 1.6 back into stable releases that should resolve the outstanding bug tasks. Exact steps I used: sudo -i docker pull ubuntu:14.04 docker run -d ubuntu:14.04 /bin/sleep 3600 service docker stop service docker start docker ps -a docker start In addition, I used a proxy setting in /etc/default/docker.io (Trusty) and /etc/default/docker (Wily). On Trusty, export= is needed as it's sourced from an upstart job. On Wily, export= must be absent as it uses systemd EnvironmentFile syntax. Also the service name on Trusty is docker.io, not docker. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1404300 Title: After restarting docker daemon, unable to restart existing containers To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/docker.io/+bug/1404300/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
