The bug here is the colouring of the panel colors using Palette value
rather than setting the bg colour of the panel. Unfortunately we did not
receive any colouring guides from UX for dark themes, only for Ambiance.

Confirmed that the workarounds posted by Guillaume and Scott work for
me, thanks! Hopefully the underlying issue can be resolved soon, but at
least there is a temporary hack letting us still use LyX in the
meantime.

What's the output of sudo systemctl status NetworkManager-wait-
online.service network-online.target for you? We do enable this unit by
default, so it should wait (this works fine here and for many other
people I've talked to).
If they are not running, but enabled, then the reason is that

I just updated my 14.04 install to 3.16.0-37-generic.

Ah, now that I've looked at your config file sample I think I see the
problem.
You've configured the system mpd service to run as you, which was
supported in Ubuntu by a local patch against the Debian package, but
that now seems to have been removed.
This means your mpd conf in /etc won't work

Nope. I upgraded from 14.04 - 14.10 - 15.04 incrementally. And I only
started having this issue in 15.04 from what I can remember. I'm not
sure if I experienced it in 14.10. I have to boot in recovery mode and
enter in my LUKS password there. I also heard that a few other people

Okay, so I installed the latest upstream kernal as you requested
(v4.1-rc2-vivid), and now it's recognizing input, but the new problem is
that it isn't decrypting the disk. When I type anything in, it just
