[Bug 1455073] [NEW] backupninja fails saving partition info

2015-05-14 Thread Richard Levitte
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 14.04 LTS
backupninja 1.0.1-2

My /etc/backup.d/10.sys has the following info:

packages = yes
partitions = yes
dosfdisk = yes
hardware = no
luksheaders = yes
lvm = no

When running backupninja, I get the following warning (by email):

== warnings from /etc/backup.d/10.sys ==

Warning: can't find hwinfo, skipping partition report.

My expectation is that either hwinfo comes back, or backupninja changes
to using something else, such as lshw.

[Bug 1429959] fix eeh on qla2xxx

2015-05-14 Thread bugproxy
--- Comment on attachment From thad...@br.ibm.com 2015-04-16 18:57
EDT---

Mauricio and I have investigated this, and found out that there is a code that
checks for all FF's and might set the HBA offline and release queues, which
might even crash the system, during our tests.

The attached patch seems to fix all the problems we have seen, including
when the adapter seems to have recovered, but can't do any IO.

We have tested this on top of 4.0.

Mauricio, can you build a package with this patch on top of Vivid's
kernel, so this can be tested?

Thanks.
Cascardo.

[Bug 1455091] [NEW] Remeber log in forever keeps forgetting it forever

2015-05-14 Thread edward stavin
Public bug reported:

I keep selecting remember my login to my NAS forever, yet every time I
return to the screen after shutting down my PC it ask me to retype the
log in details and password.

My conclusion would be that the remember forever feature does not
work... it only remembers for the duration of the current session. Once
I shutdown or reboot the login details vanish and I have to enter them
all again.

Hope this helps improve the product. I can access the NAS by clicking
on the NAS icon or going through the widows network icons but the
results are the same both ways.

Hope this helps improve a great product.

[Bug 1406483] Re: Possible to install (and trigger postinstall) of ca-certificates-java before Java has been installed

2015-05-14 Thread Thim Anneessens
I am trying to install open-jdk-8 and ran into the same problem when
subsequently installing maven and trying to run an archetype. I removed
jdk and maven (did apt-get autoremove and clean and autoclean and purge)
reinstalled jdk then maven but still had the same issue.

Can anyone give me a sequence that will not produce this issue because
as far as I know this always happens. Basically I cannot work with the
packaged jdk...

[Bug 1443542] Re: curtin race on vivid when /dev/sda1 doesn't exist

2015-05-14 Thread Oleg Strikov
Execution of blockdev --rereadpt simply issues a call to
ioctl(BLKRRPART) which forces kernel to re-initialize its metadata.
Kernel adds information about newly created partition here:
http://lxr.linux.no/#linux+v3.19.1/block/partition-generic.c#L269 You
can see a call to kobject_uevent() which puts event to udev's queue. So
to me it looks like udev settle should have all the information
available. Only if blockdev succeeds though. We don't check its return
code if I got it correctly.

Another interesting point is that there are two popular ways to re-read
the partition table: BLKRRPAR ioctl (used by blockdev) and BLKPG ioctl
(used by partprobe). They are very different. While BLKRRPAR lets kernel
know that partition table needs to be re-read, BLKPG tells kernel the
exact partitioning layout (parted does this because it wants to have
ultimate control over things). BLKPG may be more udev-friendly because
parted-based tools are more popular. We may want to try partprobe
instead of blockdev and see if it solves the issue.

[Bug 41301]

2015-05-14 Thread Guitar-robot
I just upgraded to Ubuntu 15.04 and can no longer reproduce this bug. My
xorg package is 1:7.7+7ubuntu4. As far as I know the upgrade is the only
change I've made to my desktop since the last time I could reproduce the
bug.

I hope this new information is helpful. I'd still be happy to help out
with further testing or by providing more information about my hardware
and software.

 Reproducible in 14.04 though.

Daniel's example from #16 is now fixed with binutils 2.24-5ubuntu13.

@paulkilgo: the test program from #1 still segfaults in 15.04.

[Bug 41301]

2015-05-14 Thread Guitar-robot
Sorry, I just remembered I had turned off sloppy focus because Steam
doesn't play well with it. I went ahead and turned sloppy focus back on
and I still can't reproduce the bug at will (by unplugging and re-
plugging-in my mouse).

I will of course post here again if I ever do see the bug again.

** Description changed:

I gave Kubuntu 15.04 a try and found out that it did not support my USB
ports. I ran lsusb and it reported as Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub. I
tried connecting USBs and they did not get recognized. All those USBs
were in working condition. I tried all the ports, front ports and rear
ports. No matter where I plug in the USB drivers, they are not detected.
I suspect this is due to kernel 3.19

Problem is that my mouse and keyboard are wireless and worse, none of
them are detected due to the USB receiver not being recognized by the
OS. However everything worked like charm during live and installation
  session.

[Bug 1428848] Re: Handle lxc-start/lxc-wait/lxc-attach race better

2015-05-14 Thread Christopher Townsend
We've finally figured out what is causing this. See bug #1452451 for
more details.

The proper workaround is to use lxc.auto.mount = proc:mixed in the LXC
config.

I'll be making the proper changes in the dev branch to use the proper
workaround instead of the hacky sleep.

[Bug 1455061] Re: White-listing IP-numbers or networks doesn't work

2015-05-14 Thread jtniehof
Hi Jonas--

Thanks for the report. If I recall correctly, allow_missing_dns no
overrides allow entires (despite the passed through with no checks
in the man page, I probably miswrote there) -- the DNS check comes
first. I'll take a look and at very least update the documentation, but
I do think it makes sense to let allow skip the DNS checks if it's
numeric.

In the meantime, try allow_missing_dns yes and allow_missing_reverse
yes if you feel comfortable with the security/attribution implications.

Note that the chance of upstream changes showing up in Ubuntu is quite
low; I finally orphaned the package in Debian since it would take months
and, sometimes, years to get a sponsor for the upload.

[Bug 1435480] Re: Update disabling of services in the LXC to the systemd way

2015-05-14 Thread Christopher Townsend
systemd based containers are currently broken, so until this is fixed,
I'm not going to work on this. The workaround is to install upstart-
sysv in the container and not use systemd.

When systemd is working for the containers, then I'll revisit this
issue.

is coming a call, can be seen at the time that it is ringing.

[Bug 1455107] [NEW] Creating and destroying SoundEffects causes crashes

2015-05-14 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I keep on receiving bug reports about Machines vs. Machines being crashy
on Ubuntu Phones and I tracked it down to the SoundEffect item. When
playing without sound effects enabled, the game seems very stable.

To get to the bottom of this I created an app that simulates a bit how a
game works with sound effects. It's a bit more aggressive than Machines-
vs-Machines (still not really far fetched from a real game scenario) and
reliably triggers some crashers in less than a minute here.

So far I've seen crashes in creating SoundEffects items as well as
removing them from the scene.

Please find the example here: lp:~mzanetti/+junk/soundcrasher

You should be able to run it on any vivid powered device by just opening
the .pro file in QtCreator and hit the play button. The logs vary a lot
between crashes. Sometimes I get some PulseAudio messages, sometimes it
just crashes without any. Probably some raciness. Anyhow, this example
app should be give the system a hard time and reveal most of the crashes
eventually.

** Affects: pulseaudio (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 1453403] Re: Tap to hide toolbar is inconsistent

2015-05-14 Thread Alan Pope 
I'm inclined to agree with Stefano. Viewing photos in gallery is often
improved by using all available pixels to display the image. Browsing
web pages frequently requires the use of toolbar, buttons navigation.

The pdf / book reading experience is often one of total immersion for
long periods. So I'd like the chrome to be out of the way as much as
possible as much of the time, however I'm scrolling. The toolbar
appearing and disappearing as I scroll up and down in a book would be a
distraction in my opinion.

[Bug 1317449]

2015-05-14 Thread Benedikt Balian
(In reply to Christoph Feck from comment #134)
Ben, and you also get these crashes if you upgrade sqlite3 package to
version 3.8.4 or newer, as is suggested in the comments of this bug report?

I did update sqlite3 to the latest version available on my distro. The
crash still happens, on a less regular bases though.

It happens mainly when am switching albums while the album I am in still
loads thumbnails.

[Bug 1454733] Re: Update linux-firmware for lts-vivid kernel

2015-05-14 Thread Seth Forshee
Verified that 1.127.12 installs without any conflicts with linux-
firmware-nonfree, and that only new files are added versus 1.127.11 (no
existing files are modified). No regressions observed in my testing.

[Bug 880533]

2015-05-14 Thread b3nmore
(In reply to Harald Judt from comment #11)
Is this still an issue? If it is, please reopen.

Yes, it is. Thunar build from git (afe91e9).

As Thaddaeus Tintenfisch said in #10, it works fine, *if* xfdesktop is
configured to show the trash icon on the desktop. For all desktop
configurations not enabling the desktop trash icon, thunar shows always
an empty trash on startup after a fresh login. So do all further thunar
instances started later. To get the correct status, one must delete a
file/folder or close all open thunar windows. The next thunar window
will then show the correct status.

Btw. my workaround for this issue is to create a autostart entry calling
gvfs-ls trash /dev/null. So my guess is, that calling gvfs-ls
trash initializes something thunar is relying on to determine the trash
status.
