[Bug 1325408] Re: nvidia-173 173.14.39-0ubuntu3: nvidia-173 kernel module failed to build
Alberto is the man! For the testers: I went to the /usr/src/nvidia-173-173.14.39 directory and edited the nv-linux.h file. [Bug 1453285] Re: Emergency numbers for France (15, 17 and 18) are not available in emergency mode
@Thomas, thanks for the logs. Being [ril.ecclist]: [112,911] it looks like your SIM does not include the right emergency numbers for France, which is worrying. [Bug 1444883] Re: Emergency numbers for China (110, 119) are not available in emergency mode
@Tony, I have dialled a non-emergency number, without SIM, using the dial-number ofono script. The radio logs shows: 05-25 05:42:06.748 1879 1885 D use-Rlog/RLOG-AT: ATDX; ... 05-25 05:42:06.754 1879 1899 D use-Rlog/RLOG-AT: +CME ERROR: 100 so rild tries to dial, although the modem responds immediately with an unknown error. This fits your observation about the call being quickly rejected, and also that the radio layer does try to dial. IMHO I think this confirms that it is better to let the modem and the network handle emergency codes: the modem/network does not inform us which numbers are emergency, so we should better be safe and not make assumptions in the dialer-app that could prevent the user to make an emergency call. Re: the CMCC SIM, in the list of properties that Evan has attached we have: [ril.ecclist]: [112,911] Same emergency codes as in ofono. These numbers must come from the SIM, and apparently rild does not add any numbers to these. IMO the SIM profile is simply wrong. Being this a Chinese SIM, 110 and 119 should be on the SIM file that provides the emergency numbers. This is worrying, as it implies that we cannot blindly trust the list of emergency codes on the SIM. And we cannot just simply trust the numbers in libphonenumber. I do not imply with this that we cannot improve the list of emergency number, either using libphonenumber or trying to find a way to ask the modem the list (maybe using directly some AT command?): but I do think that we *must* be safe here, and *first* let dialer-app dial any number even when there is no SIM/the SIM is locked. There is no harm here, as the modem/network will reject the call if the number is not emergency. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1444883 Title: Emergency numbers for China (110,119) are not available in emergency mode To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-system-image/+bug/1444883/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1458230] Re: libburn imposing 0.2x BD-R burn (5-6 hours)
Hi, everything points towards Defect Management which seems to be extremely slow with the given drive and BD-R media. It normally slows down writing by a factor of 2 or 3 but not by 10 or 20. So the option stream_recording=on of cdrskin and xorrecord is worth a try with the next BD-R you burn. There remains the question why the BD-R written by your xorrecord run is formatted despite you did not use option blank=format_if_needed. --- Reasoning: cdrtools [...] proceeded at a reasonable speed cdrecord does not format the BD-R and thus no Defect Management is employed while writing. growisofs [...] at the cost of five to six hours' burning growisofs always formats, uses no stream recording, and thus always employs Defect Management. I think the xorriso run did format the disc. It should not have done it with the arguments you showed. Whatever, there is still the option stream_recording=on which should compensate for the speed effect of formatting. (... and make formatting more or less senseless.) I've just tried a DVD-RW 2x, in the drive. Performance seemed consistent with my experience with my DVD writers, and I calculated it as proceeding about twice as quickly as the problem BD-Rs. 2x DVD = 2.7 MB/s. That's plausible in comparison to the 1 MB/s you measure with BD-R. So most probably the hardware connection is not to blame. libisoburn [1.3.2] is rather stale, It's ok for the purpose. Anyway, libburn is the one which operates the drive. The BD stuff did not change much since many years. disc06 burnt with xorrecord (xorrecord -v dev=/dev/sr0 speed=26970k fs=8m -multi --grow_overwriteable_iso blank=as_needed padsize=300k disc06.iso): It does not report BD spare area which i would expect if it is formatted. But the announced size is smaller than the unformatted size. Can you show the output of the growisofs written BD-R or the one which you wrote with cdrskin option blank=format_if_needed ? Please also run with the xorriso-written BD-R xorriso -outdev /dev/sr0 -list_formats and show the output. The only interesting result, from dvd+rw-mediainfo on that disc, is that Speed Descriptor#n is 00/12219391 c.f. 00/11826175 on the cdrskin and xorriso burns I reported earlier. (I've no idea what that means and, hence, the compass of interesting might be minimal. Speed descriptors are the way how the drive tells the burn program the speeds offered with the loaded medium. Theoretically a speed descriptor could be valid only for a part of the medium (with other speed on the rest). Therefore the speed descriptors tell the end address of their valid block range. In practice all ranges end at the medium end. Further the drive decides on its own how fast it really burns. The xorriso-written BD-R reports a range up to 11826175 blocks which is the end address of default size formatted BD-R. The cdrecord-written BD-R reports 12219391 which is the end of an unformatted BD-R. See also output of dvd+rw-mediainfo on a blank BD-R: READ FORMAT CAPACITIES: unformatted: 12219392*2048=25025314816 00h(3000): 11826176*2048=24220008448 (Just how did the xorriso-written BD-R get formatted ... ?) [Bug 1358704] Re: Atheros AR8161[1969:1091] and AR8162 [1969:1090] mac address would change after powered off for a while
Hi Liming Wang, Just verified again on the very same system. It looks like it's hardware related, here is how I check it: 1. Power it on with adapter connected, select PXE boot on the Dell splash screen 2. Stop it with Ctrl + c and check the MAC address, then power it off 3. Reboot with adapter disconnected, select PXE boot again 4. Repeat step 2 On step 2, the MAC address didn't change (b6:b7:0d:39:89:b7), however, after disconnecting the adapter, it changed to 00:13:74:00:00:00 again. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1358704 Title: Atheros AR8161[1969:1091] and AR8162 [1969:1090] mac address would change after powered off for a while To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/hwe-next/+bug/1358704/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

** Description changed: Commit 47d68979cc96 (md/raid0: fix bug with chunksize not a power of 2.) introduced in v4.1 development has been picked by stable trees, and is causing issues (see https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=98501). [Bug 1458491] [NEW] indicator-bluetooth misses controls to enable file transfer
Public bug reported: The default settings of `indicator-bluetooth` make file transfers fail without feedback (not too great, but not the issue here). One has to install `bluemon` and enable file transfer options like ~allow read/write and ~allow trusted devices. The user expects `indicator- bluetooth` to offer a sufficient set of options to transfer file which is a quite basic task for bluetooth connections. The options should be added to sufficient hints displayed in the application (e.g. a hint that the settings aren't implemented yet and that one needs to manage the device with `bluemon` like described above). [Bug 1458499] [NEW] Another fine icons size issue in Nautilus.
Public bug reported: Hello, I recently stumbled upon another fine icons size issue in Nautilus : When it happen a program has a huge 'icon' (e.g. the OpenShot 462px*462px /usr/share/pixmaps/openshot.svg for example), and a folder contains a file of the corresponding (MIME or gvfs ?) type (even a 0-byte .osp file), then Nautilus displays this huge 'icon' as is, at its nominal huge size in folder listing, when configured to show items as icons not as a list, rendering the interface not unusable, but very awkward. Hope this helps. Regards, Valentin. [Bug 1456918] Re: Thinkpad X200t Unity panel action crashes compiz
After 3 hours of work to get an bartpe bootable windows for the bios updater Lenovo check up the battery before a bios update can be done, so i have to buy an original battery for 150 bucks first to perform such an update. With newer bios releases the laptop will also check for 3rd party batteries and 3rd party harddisks and ssd. So the ssd must also be replaced with an ultra expense lenovo branded model. So i think we can close this bug now, it's better to trashbin the laptop. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1456918 Title: Thinkpad X200t Unity panel action crashes compiz To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1456918/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1457093] Re: New upstream microreleases 9.1.16, 9.3.7, 9.4.2
This bug was fixed in the package postgresql-9.1 - 9.1.16-0ubuntu0.12.04 --- postgresql-9.1 (9.1.16-0ubuntu0.12.04) precise-security; urgency=medium * New upstream security/bug fix release (LP: #1457093) - Avoid possible crash when client disconnects just before the authentication timeout expires. If the timeout interrupt fired partway through the session shutdown sequence, SSL-related state would be freed twice, typically causing a crash and hence denial of service to other sessions. Experimentation shows that an unauthenticated remote attacker could trigger the bug somewhat consistently, hence treat as security issue. (CVE-2015-3165) - Improve detection of system-call failures Our replacement implementation of snprintf() failed to check for errors reported by the underlying system library calls; the main case that might be missed is out-of-memory situations. In the worst case this might lead to information exposure, due to our code assuming that a buffer had been overwritten when it hadn't been. Also, there were a few places in which security-relevant calls of other system library functions did not check for failure. It remains possible that some calls of the *printf() family of functions are vulnerable to information disclosure if an out-of-memory error occurs at just the wrong time. We judge the risk to not be large, but will continue analysis in this area. (CVE-2015-3166) - In contrib/pgcrypto, uniformly report decryption failures as Wrong key or corrupt data Previously, some cases of decryption with an incorrect key could report other error message texts. It has been shown that such variance in error reports can aid attackers in recovering keys from other systems. While it's unknown whether pgcrypto's specific behaviors are likewise exploitable, it seems better to avoid the risk by using a one-size-fits-all message. (CVE-2015-3167) - Protect against wraparound of multixact member IDs Under certain usage patterns, the existing defenses against this might be insufficient, allowing pg_multixact/members files to be removed too early, resulting in data loss. The fix for this includes modifying the server to fail transactions that would result in overwriting old multixact member ID data, and improving autovacuum to ensure it will act proactively to prevent multixact member ID wraparound, as it does for transaction ID wraparound. - See release notes for details about other fixes. * Backport the autopkgtest, as running the postgresql-common integration test suite is a lot simpler that way. [Bug 1457093] Re: New upstream microreleases 9.1.16, 9.3.7, 9.4.2
This bug was fixed in the package postgresql-9.3 - 9.3.7-0ubuntu0.14.04 --- postgresql-9.3 (9.3.7-0ubuntu0.14.04) trusty-security; urgency=medium * New upstream security/bug fix release (LP: #1457093) - Avoid possible crash when client disconnects just before the authentication timeout expires. -- Martin Pitt martin.p...@ubuntu.com Wed, 20 May 2015 23:08:58 +0200 ** Changed in: postgresql-9.3 (Ubuntu Trusty) Status: In Progress = Fix Released ** Changed in: postgresql-9.4 (Ubuntu Utopic) Status: In Progress = Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1457093 Title: New upstream microreleases 9.1.16, 9.3.7, 9.4.2 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/postgresql-9.1/+bug/1457093/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1300215] Re: Failed to open VDPAU backend libvdpau_i965.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
After upgrading to Kubuntu 15.04 (via 14.10) from 14.04, I started having new issues with overheating. I have a Dell XPS 13 (Developer edition) with Intel HD4000. In particular it is now difficult to watch HD videos (e.g. from Crunchyroll.com), whether through Firefox or Chrome. After a couple of minutes, the CPU throttles hard as it gets too hot (verified with sensors), making the video unwatchable. This is not an issue I observed back when I was running 14.04. After reading around, I installed the vdpau libraries, but that didn't help. I then found this issue, and saw that vdpauinfo gave the same error report. I don't know that it is a very good workaround yet, but doing VDPAU_DRIVER=va_gl firefox got me through the video I was watching without throttling (it still got relatively hot though). The suggestion with the ppa above did not work as apt refused to use that repo. To me, due to the overheating, this seems to be a rather critical issue. ** Tags added: vivid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1300215 Title: Failed to open VDPAU backend libvdpau_i965.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libvdpau/+bug/1300215/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1458538] [NEW] Package contains unnecessary file
Public bug reported: If you look inside the package tesseract-ocr-eng_3.02-2, in the folder /tessdata you will find two files - eng.traineddata and eng.traineddata.__tmp__. The second one looks as some temporary file which somehow got into the package. It has the size more that 20 Mb (the same as eng.traineddata) and this __tmp__ is absent in other language file. Despite its compressed size may be much less, it can be removed to reduce the package size, if it is not needed. ** Affects: tesseract-eng (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1458538 Title: Package contains unnecessary file To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/tesseract-eng/+bug/1458538/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
