[Bug 1455754] Re: Wrong signature on EFI Bios after dist-upgrade

2015-05-30 Thread Vincent LESCAUT
FYI, I've updated my Ubuntu OS with a new system update, with signed kernel
just right now, and nothing has changed.
Boot signature is still wrong.

[Bug 1460315] Re: exfalso: problem with dotted path element on startup

2015-05-30 Thread H.-Dirk Schmitt
** Description changed:

exfalso /a/directory works as expected and show the content of
  /a/directory

If i use a path with an hidden directory (dotted name) the path is cut before
the dotted element,
  e.g.:

- exfalso /a/.dotted/directory shows the content of /a/.dotted/ and not of
- the subdirectory
+ exfalso /a/.dotted/directory shows the content of /a/ and not of the

Problem is reproducible with the following versions:

[Bug 875343] Re: Stuck at Saving installed packages... when using a custom /var

2015-05-30 Thread Alexander Lopez
So, from what I can deduce from this thread is that there is an issue
with the installer... The developers at Ubuntu are fully aware of it...
Yet they chose to do nothing to rectify it. Are they competing with
Microsoft to drop the ball now?

Would be nice to install the debug symbols in this ppa, reproduce the
crash and get a valid backtrace so we can properly fix the crash. The
package is unity-dbg.

** Description changed:

I have found that in System Settings User Accounts that if you
select an account and then select the button called History (which is
meant to show the login history for that account), it will show you when
you last logged in as Session Started, but it will show that you
Session Ended just before you login the next time.

To clarify what I mean, let's say that yesterday I logged into my
account on this machine at 14:29, and then sometime near 23:00 I logged
out, and then this morning I logged into my account somewhere around
  11:20, it will show this:

- Yesterday, 14:29 Session Started
- Today 11:19 Session Ended
- Today 11:20 Session Started
+ Yesterday, 14:29 Session Started
+ Today 11:19 Session Ended
+ Today 11:20 Session Started

So it assumes that the last session ended when you log into a new one,
so the bug seems to be that it does not log when a session ends
properly, and only logs it when a new session starts.

I have attached a screenshot to show my example as I see it in the
  History GUI.

This bug was also present when I was using 14.04.

[Bug 1452421] Re: ubuntu 15.04 overheats

2015-05-30 Thread Renardo
Thanks for the hint. I did that today and after a few minutes of video
streaming (www.tagesschau.de) top showed me the now well-known
kidle_inject processes but the box held out for a bit over ten
minutes, which is more but not significantly more than before. Then it
switched off. I booted the 3.16 kernel, reloaded the same video stream
(it is available for two hours), and it played the full 15 minutes
without any kidle_injects appearing. And without powering off the
machine, of course.

This time top (under 3.19) never showed me any processes (firefox,
plugin-container) going anywhere near 100% of CPU load; everything
remained under 50% most of the time, more or less as with the old
kernel. And still those kidle_inject processes come up. Could it be a
false alarm (despite the very warm air coming from the fan slots)? I
know that kidle_inject generates no CPU load, just blocks other
processes from taking a CPU. Could it still have influence on the
temperature sensor and the fan?

  Hello!

Backlight control does not work on Asus Zenbook Pro UX501JW / Nvidia
  Geforce GTX 960M.

What I mean by this is that the hotkeys for the backlight does not do
anything. The backlight can be manually set while running on the
integrated intel graphics. (Not with hotkeys).

The nvidia GPU is not detected until Nvidias official drivers are
installed. And after installing that driver (any version) the backlight
can not be changed at all.

I hope this can be solved!

[Bug 1390625] Re: mouse cursor gets corrupted

2015-05-30 Thread Ryan Lounsbury
I'll add my 2 cents into this discussion as well. First bug I ran into
when using elementary OS Freya on my Lenovo X201 w/Integrated Intel
Graphics. The cursor gets corrupted whenever I click and drag a file or
shortcut somewhere on the desktop. I can click and drag scroll bars,
windows, etc... It only ever happens when I click drag a file or short
cut. As soon as I drag the cursor gets corrupted and displays two arrows
and a small sliver of whatever was open on the screen at that time.

Switching to a different work space seems to clear it up as well.

[Bug 1460301] Re: Incomming call - no info which SIM card was called (dual SIM)

2015-05-30 Thread hurz
The same here,
when it is ringing there is no display if the call comes from sim 1 or sim 2.
Only if you take the telephone call then it is displayed which sim is used.
But then it is too late.

[Bug 1460339] [NEW] Wifi keeps disconnecting after resume and won't connect to wifi

2015-05-30 Thread Iain Howard
Public bug reported:

Recently upgraded my Dell 1720 Laptop from Ubuntu 12.04 to 14.04

Results: Flaky wifi disconnects after being on standby and will not
reconnect.

Eventually after several reboots it connects or suggested command on the
internet on how to resolve this.

The card is a BCM4321 wireless card.
I have been through every article and forum post looking for an answer.

I cannot connect to my work's public wifi. Can connect at home but only
in certain curcumstances like if the plugs in.

Tried various scripts to kick it into life after resume. Tried re-
installing drivers. NOTHING.

Please can someone suggest what this could be and is there an actual
answerable fix?

Tried all these:
https://gsuartana.wordpress.com/2014/06/26/how-to-fix-unstable-wifi-connection-after-14-04-upgrade/

http://zeroset.mnim.org/2014/04/22/unstable-wifi-connection-on-ubuntu-14-04-trusty-tahr-ctrl-event-disconnected-reason4-locally_generated1/

To no avail. Any more answers on this greatly appreciated.

Yeah it is an annoying bug. I'm staying with Luna until it's fixed. I'm
finding it just as stable if not more stable than my windows 7 laptop.
Although Freya does have some very cool features I miss a little.

Maybe related, the cursor does not always show the correct image scale

after login, or when hovering specific areas, or on mouse down to
start a dragdrop, the cursor appears 1/4 the expected size.

[Bug 1458933] Re: No volume control on screen lock - Volume goes to 100%

2015-05-30 Thread Andrew P.
1. Remove your account from audio group. Commands:
 group
Check for audio group. If you see it:
 sudo deluser your_user_name audio
Removes your_user_name user from audio group. You need to logout/reboot.

It is very rare to need to have your user in audio group.
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Audio/TheAudioGroup

2. Alternative. You can install indicator-sound package to sound indicator at
login screen.
Open /etc/lightdm/lightdm-gtk-greeter.conf and edit indicators or
show-indicators option: add sound to it.
indicators=list;of;indicators;on;login;screen;sound
This indicator saves its state between sessions and reboots. But it can
affect your session settings.

[Bug 1460088] Re: Backlight control does not work on Asus Zenbook Pro UX501JW / Nvidia Geforce GTX 960M

2015-05-30 Thread ishbalai
Thank you for the suggestion.

I have now updated the BIOS to the latest version 205.

Ubuntu no longer boots. It gets stuck on the ubuntu boot screen. With
the ubuntu logo and the small dots below it.

I am still able to boot Mint and the problem is not fixed in Mint.

Let me know if I can do anything else.

I will try to explain the problem I had before the BIOS update.

If I press the keyboard shortcuts to change the backlight brightness.
Nothing happens.

If I change the brightness in the power manager GUI by dragging the
slider. Changing the brightness works.

If I install the official proprietary Nvidia driver. The slider
disappears and there are no other way to change the brightness.

I don't know if the following information helps to understand the issue
but in Windows the hot keys works perfectly. Although in Windows it
shows that the display is using the Intel GPU. While Renderer is set to
NVIDIA GPU. And so they are both used together with nvidia optimus
system.

I don't know how it works in linux but I suspect that it picks one of
the GPUs resulting in lost functionality.

Regardless the hot keys should work even if only the Intel GPU is being
used.

[Bug 1460346] [NEW] Innotop broken

2015-05-30 Thread Joshua Andrews
Public bug reported:

System: Ubuntu 15.04 vivid
mysql: 5.6.24-0ubuntu2

Innotop is being affected by the following bug:

https://github.com/innotop/innotop/issues/100

What steps will reproduce the problem? 1. Launch innotop
2. Press the [down] key What version of the product are you using? On what
operating system? 1.7.1 on Ubuntu trusty

Most of the commands don't work and result in 'Use of uninitialized
value $text in pattern match (m//) at /usr/bin/innotop line 594.'

It likely just needs to be updated.

[Bug 1460088] Re: Backlight control does not work on Asus Zenbook Pro UX501JW / Nvidia Geforce GTX 960M

2015-05-30 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
ishbalai, as per
http://www.asus.com/supportonly/N501JW/HelpDesk_Download/ an update to
your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (205). If you
update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate
does it change anything?

If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the
output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette
.

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't
have to create a new bug report.

Once the BIOS is updated, and the information above is provided, then
please mark this report Status Confirmed.

Thank you for your understanding.

Christopher,

I just tried Kubuntu 15.04 for AMD64. The problem no longer exists and
the 'wl' module is not installed at all.

Was this fixed but this bug was not updated, or perhaps it was fixed as
part of another bug?

[Bug 1460345] [NEW] network-manager can cause a continuous IPv6 router solicitation loop

2015-05-30 Thread Michael Marley
Public bug reported:

As described in the upstream bug report
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1207730, network-manager can
cause a continuous IPv6 router solicitation loop. In my specific case,
a large number of computers running network-manager are on the network.
The resulting storm of traffic overloads the router and knocks computers
not running network-manager off of IPv6. Could the fix please be
backported? Thanks!

Even after the post-install start up as a service, the ntopng binary
segfaults if I attempt to run it manually with no parameters. It is
truly messed up.

[Bug 1402195] Re: Newer version of adb needed for nexus 5

2015-05-30 Thread Theo Nolte
Thanks for the workaround. Extracting the above binary and installing
libstdc++6:i386 did the trick for me on Ubuntu 15.04 x64.

As Lollipop becomes more and more widespread, it is a shame the package
is not updated. Tracking down the problem and finding this thread took
me half a day.

[Bug 1460346] [NEW] Innotop broken

2015-05-30 Thread Joshua Andrews
Public bug reported:

System: Ubuntu 15.04 vivid
mysql: 5.6.24-0ubuntu2

Innotop is being affected by the following bug:

https://github.com/innotop/innotop/issues/100

What steps will reproduce the problem? 1. Launch innotop
2. Press the [down] key What version of the product are you using? On what
operating system? 1.7.1 on Ubuntu trusty

Most of the commands don't work and result in 'Use of uninitialized
value $text in pattern match (m//) at /usr/bin/innotop line 594.'

It likely just needs to be updated.

[Bug 1460255] [NEW] paste method freezes autokey-gtk in Ubuntu 14.04

2015-05-30 Thread Rob
Public bug reported:

In a fresh install of Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS, the autokey-gtk application
(0.94.1-4) crashes when the paste method is used. This causes keyboard
input to freeze in the application where the autokey was used, and if
typed again, in all applications. Here is the debug output from using
the autokey twice in gedit (the traceback is after the first time, and
autokey-gtk was killed after the second time to get input back in all
applications):

In short, using FindSFML.cmake from 2.2 (or 2.3) will not work when
compiling against 2.1. If you use the version of FindSFML.cmake from 2.1
(which is installed in /usr/share/SFML/cmake/Modules) then it should
work properly.

[Bug 1460365] ProcEnviron.txt

2015-05-30 Thread Bryan Cebuliak
apport information

** Attachment added: ProcEnviron.txt

https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1460365/+attachment/4407301/+files/ProcEnviron.txt

** Description changed:

Since upgrading from 14.10 [3.16 kernel] to 15.04 the 3.19 kernels
including 3.19.0-20 will either stall on bootor leave me
without proper graphics or nil keyboard and mouse even on recovery boot
. The next functioning mainline kernel is v4.0-rc1-vivid. No problem there.
I suggest you abandon completely this very problematic end of life
kernel and quickly test and backport a newer series. 3.19 up to 3.19.7 has
also given me similar grief on my old Macbook 2,1 64bit.
