[Bug 1471377] [NEW] [regression] [trusty] chromium-browser crashed with SIGABRT in base::debug::BreakDebugger()
Public bug reported: This bug report concerns chromium-browser version 43.0.2357.81-0ubuntu0.14.04.1.1089 in Ubuntu Trusty. Previously, this system had 41.0.2272.76-0ubuntu0.14.04.1.1076 installed, and it worked correctly. Now, after an update, the browser crashes immediately upon startup with a SIGABRT. Removing ~/.config/chromium/ and ~/.cache/chromium/ does not alleviate the problem. If run in a terminal, the program produces the following output: [8622:8622:0704/015859:FATAL:zygote_host_impl_linux.cc(182)] Check failed: process.IsValid(). Failed to launch zygote process Aborted (core dumped) I will attach apport information to this bug report shortly. ** Affects: chromium-browser (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1471377 Title: [regression] [trusty] chromium-browser crashed with SIGABRT in base::debug::BreakDebugger() To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/chromium-browser/+bug/1471377/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1453336] Re: shotwell fails to import iphone photos
Yeah, the upstream sounds like this bug, although gphoto2 is fairly successful at importing photos from my iPhone 5s running iOS 8.3, using these args: gphoto2 –port=usb: -R -P I picked that up from a bug report of the same problem in Fedora 21, on RedHat's bugzilla: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1178256 Looks like there hasn't been any action on the upstream bug in a while, so getting the photos out of the camera via gphoto2 or the file manager, then importing into Shotwell, looks like it'll be our workaround for a while. ** Bug watch added: Red Hat Bugzilla #1178256 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1178256 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1453336 Title: shotwell fails to import iphone photos To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/shotwell/+bug/1453336/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1453203] Re: Plasma 5 permenant corruption after file transfer
The same behaviour here: black screen, with working mouse pointer, ALT-F2 shows the command box at the top, but not able to enter anything. In my case it happened because in the previous session the plasmashell took 100% for a long time, so i killed it and tried to restart with plasmashell in konsole. But that only succeeded with sudo plasmashell. (foolish me) The next session gave the black screen. It is related to that specific user, since it is possible to start a perfectly working KDE session for other users on the same machine. Just a wild idea: Can this be fixed by adding a root user with a working KDE profile and retrying sudo plasmashell ? Or is there any other way to simply reconfigure the corrupted KDE settings, since reinstalling is only the last resort. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1453203 Title: Plasma 5 permenant corruption after file transfer To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/kdebase-workspace/+bug/1453203/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1013595] Re: Ubuntu installer installed grub-efi (instead of grub-pc) on non-GPT disk -- does not boot
A note to clarify expectations on an UEFI system. If the installer boots in UEFI mode the installer detects this through the presence of the EFI variables node in the sysfs at /sys/firmware/efi/vars. In this case the grub-efi package and its dependencies is selected, installed, and configured. The installation target disk-label (MBR or GPT) has *no* place in the choice of grub-efi or grub-pc. The UEFI standard mandates support for UEFI boot from GPT (with an EFI System Partition [0xEF00 in gdisk tools]) or MBR (with partition type 0xEF) partitioned devices. On UEFI systems to ensure an installation for CSM (Compatibility Support Module)/Legacy BIOS + grub-pc boot the *installer* must be booted using the CSM/Legacy mode. To fix this after the installer has completed (only in Try .. mode on Live images) the user needs to manually change the installation via terminal commands and a 'chroot'. Satisfy yourself the installation is correct and successful before rebooting. If unclear ask for help on IRC channel #ubuntu on the Freenode network; mention the phrase bug #1013595 in your request. ( lines beginning with # are only comments and should not be typed) E.g: sudo -i [ -d /target/etc ] || echo Root file-system is not mounted at /target/, please fix that and retry this command before continuing # mount the kernel file-systems in the target for n in proc sys run dev dev/pts etc/resolv.conf; do mount --bind /$n /target/$n; done chroot /target # now operating in the installed environment; should have network access and DNS mount -a umount /boot/efi # remove the EFI file-system from the auto-mount table sed -i '/boot\/efi/ d' /etc/fstab apt-get remove 'grub-efi*' apt-get install grub-pc lsblk -f grub-install /dev/sdX # replace X with the correct disk id update-grub # check the installation is correct exit # back in the installer environment reboot -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1013595 Title: Ubuntu installer installed grub-efi (instead of grub-pc) on non-GPT disk -- does not boot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/1013595/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1441103] Re: CVE-2015-2922
Dear Ubuntu team, this fix does NOT work within linux-image-extra-3.19.0-21-generic and does NOT work within linux-image-3.19.8-031908-generic. Something strange happens, if enabling the wlan1 interface with the network- manager gui: The kernel variable /proc/sys/net/ipv6/conf/wlan1/hop_limit gets zero after connecting to a configured wlan. IPV6 is not working, because of hop limitation, only a link local default gateway is set. Maybe several other packages are involved, but I can not fiddle it out. system info: ubuntu vivid Linux laptop-stefan 3.19.8-031908-generic #201505110938 SMP Mon May 11 13:39:59 UTC 2015 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux lsmod Module Size Used by ctr13193 3 ccm17856 3 xt_CHECKSUM12549 1 iptable_mangle 12734 1 ipt_MASQUERADE 12678 3 nf_nat_masquerade_ipv413412 1 ipt_MASQUERADE iptable_nat12875 1 nf_nat_ipv414267 1 iptable_nat nf_nat 26308 2 nf_nat_ipv4,nf_nat_masquerade_ipv4 nf_conntrack_ipv4 18953 2 nf_defrag_ipv4 12758 1 nf_conntrack_ipv4 xt_conntrack 12760 1 nf_conntrack 105683 5 nf_nat,nf_nat_ipv4,xt_conntrack,nf_nat_masquerade_ipv4,nf_conntrack_ipv4 ipt_REJECT 12541 2 nf_reject_ipv4 13183 1 ipt_REJECT xt_tcpudp 12924 6 bridge114479 0 stp12976 1 bridge llc14441 2 stp,bridge ebtable_filter 12827 0 ebtables 35359 1 ebtable_filter ip6table_filter12815 0 ip6_tables 27504 1 ip6table_filter iptable_filter 12810 1 ip_tables 27718 3 iptable_filter,iptable_mangle,iptable_nat x_tables 34103 11 ip6table_filter,xt_CHECKSUM,ip_tables,xt_tcpudp,ipt_MASQUERADE,xt_conntrack,iptable_filter,ebtables,ipt_REJECT,iptable_mangle,ip6_tables xfrm_user 36115 2 xfrm4_tunnel 12857 0 tunnel413252 1 xfrm4_tunnel ipcomp 12790 0 xfrm_ipcomp13606 1 ipcomp esp4 17175 0 ah417133 0 af_key 36492 0 xfrm_algo 15394 5 ah4,esp4,af_key,xfrm_user,xfrm_ipcomp binfmt_misc18163 1 zram 24692 0 lz4_compress 12529 1 zram snd_hda_codec_analog19240 1 snd_hda_codec_generic70069 1 snd_hda_codec_analog arc4 12573 2 iwl394574519 0 pcmcia 62760 0 snd_hda_intel 30775 3 iwlegacy 105101 1 iwl3945 snd_hda_controller 35493 1 snd_hda_intel snd_hda_codec 144641 4 snd_hda_codec_generic,snd_hda_intel,snd_hda_controller,snd_hda_codec_analog coretemp 13638 0 mac80211 751896 2 iwl3945,iwlegacy snd_hwdep 17709 1 snd_hda_codec snd_pcm 106401 3 snd_hda_codec,snd_hda_intel,snd_hda_controller joydev 17538 0 thinkpad_acpi 86562 0 i915 1087204 2 nvram 14413 1 thinkpad_acpi lpc_ich21176 0 serio_raw 13434 0 cfg80211 551242 3 iwl3945,iwlegacy,mac80211 snd_seq_midi 13564 0 snd_seq_midi_event 14899 1 snd_seq_midi yenta_socket 45447 0 snd_rawmidi31148 1 snd_seq_midi pcmcia_rsrc18591 1 yenta_socket pcmcia_core23715 3 pcmcia,pcmcia_rsrc,yenta_socket snd_seq63540 2 snd_seq_midi_event,snd_seq_midi nsc_ircc 29832 0 drm_kms_helper123797 1 i915 snd_seq_device 14875 3 snd_seq,snd_rawmidi,snd_seq_midi snd_timer 30069 2 snd_pcm,snd_seq irda 203831 1 nsc_ircc drm 341489 4 i915,drm_kms_helper snd83976 17 snd_hwdep,snd_timer,snd_pcm,snd_seq,snd_rawmidi,snd_hda_codec_generic,snd_hda_codec,snd_hda_intel,thinkpad_acpi,snd_seq_device,snd_hda_codec_analog 8250_fintek12924 0 crc_ccitt 12707 1 irda soundcore 15091 2 snd,snd_hda_codec shpchp 37216 0 i2c_algo_bit 13564 1 i915 video 24803 1 i915 mac_hid13275 0 parport_pc 32909 0 ppdev 17711 0 sunrpc334694 1 lp 17799 0 parport42432 3 lp,ppdev,parport_pc autofs439306 2 pata_acpi 13053 0 psmouse 118539 0 ahci 34220 2 libahci32353 1 ahci e1000e230013 0 ptp19534 1 e1000e pps_core 19332 1 ptp Please fix! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1441103 Title: CVE-2015-2922 To manage
[Bug 1463598] Re: Chromium 43 fails to use hardware acceleration
Disabling WebGL is one thing, but disabling hardware acceleration altogether causes horrible tearing with each and every driver. All videos look terrible and even smooth scrolling is no longer acceptable. I've received dozens of support calls from clients about how the latest Chromium build is utterly broken, wasting hours of my life driving around and setting up the Chromium Beta PPA everywhere. Seriously, just enable the Disable WebGL flag by default instead of completely compiling out GPU support on an LTS release. [Bug 1471380] [NEW] [Fujitsu Lifebook AH532] Installing Ubuntu on a USB-drive locks out firmware access
Public bug reported: I've been running pre-installed Windows 7 on a Fujitsu AH532 since 2012. Two weeks back, I installed a Live-USB with Ubuntu 14.04. All working well, but I struggled getting it persistent, so I decided to do a full Ubuntu installation to another USB-drive. Leaving my Windows hard drive untouched. What I did: 1) I entered my BIOS to change boot order, and booting from my Ubuntu Live-USB. 2) I tried following the installation guide https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/UEFI-and-BIOS, but sizes were changed to: - 1MB BIOS Boot (pretty sure I left this unformatted, but it now reports as Ext4) - 666MB EFI System, FAT32 - 30GB Linux Filesystem, Ext4 - 999MB Linux Swap, Swap 3) I installed Ubuntu on a second USB-drive. Leaving my Windows hard- drive intact (?) The result: Now, I can only boot my machine by inserting my second full-installation-USB-drive. I cannot boot Windows, and I cannot boot from my LiveUSB. If I boot without inserting my full-installation-USB-drive, I get the boot screen telling me I can press F2 or F12. However, none of these have any effect, apart from making the beep. Then the computer enters the Boot menu (as well as the second menu Application menu). [Bug 1453052] Re: X fails to automatically detect ATI radeon RV600 card
Update. Some improvement with the latest update (but also a regression!). With the last update, I'm able to boot the system using directly the efi stub and now, Xorg CAN detect the graphic card. There's no error in Xorg.0.log. But the problem now is that I get a blank/black screen all the same, even if booting through GRUB. The system starts, the kernel splash appears and, after a few seconds the screen goes black. If I hit alt-F1 nothing happens. Hit alt-F7, the screen flashes but gets black again. Now I re-hit alt-F1 and I see a text console saying: Welcome to emergency mode. [Bug 1471391] [NEW] When the dropbear remote unlock init hook is enabled NEED_PERSISTENT_NET should be set to yes
Public bug reported: Users who use the dropbear remote unlock init hook to remotely unlock a cryptroot setup should have their udev network interface rules persisted in the initramfs. That is, when a system has the dropbear hook enabled and it has a cryptroot setup then NEED_PERSISTENT_NET should be set to yes to ensure that network interfaces are not renamed unexpectedly. If this does not make sense to do by default then I would like to suggest that /usr/share/doc/cryptsetup/README.remote.gz is changed to inform users of NEED_PERSISTENT_NET. ** Affects: initramfs-tools (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1471391 Title: When the dropbear remote unlock init hook is enabled NEED_PERSISTENT_NET should be set to yes To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/initramfs-tools/+bug/1471391/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1468063] Re: I DON'T KNOW ABOUT THIS BUG PLEASE HELP ME
David, thank you for taking the time to report this and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, this report didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read How to report bugs effectively http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html and https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs . We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures At a minimum, we need: 1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem, 2. The behavior you expected, and 3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). Thank you for your understanding. ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Low ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1468063 Title: I DON'T KNOW ABOUT THIS BUG PLEASE HELP ME To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1468063/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1471430] [NEW] systemd-gpt-auto-generator[$pid]: Failed to determine partition table type of /dev/sda: Input/output error
Public bug reported: Right. Well this bug is something I stumbled into today. It turns out that: Whenever I have invalid /etc/fstab entries, the system fails to start with systemd. This can be seen in the debian bug tracker as bug #765586: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=765586 I stongly believe it to be the same bug. For more infos go there. It is basically that the error code is always reported back to the user incorrectly. Due to a genuine bug in the affected systemd component(s). The component is responsible for auto-finding and auto-mounting GPT partitions at boot time. In absense of a valid fstab file (because mounting fstab failed). Most times there is no real I/O error. The error message is extremely non-intuitive and alarming + confusing for users. They may un-knowningly try to take more drastic actions such as replacing their HDD etc. Which are not necessary. In my case it was that: * It was the result of removing or failed HDD physical (permanment) device. * Which had an entry in fstab. Now what should happen, and has historically happened with upstart, up to and including 14.10 is this message should appear during boot time (when the fstab fails to find the disk to mount): http://imgur.com/a2NoohQ http://www.gooditdad.com/ubuntu-press-s-to-skip-mount-or-m-for-manual- recovery/ This is a common situation that many users may find themselves in. When their fstab file is not valid in respect to the currently attached system disks. Including USB removable storage etc. 2 work-arounds: * In Grub -- Ubuntu Advanced Boot Menu -- upstart mode * Edit /etc/fstab file and try to find / comment out / disable the offending entries 2 solutions: * Look to get this but fixed upstream in debian / systemd / wherever * Don't use systemd ** Affects: systemd (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: boot-failure fstab systemd -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1471430 Title: systemd-gpt-auto-generator[$pid]: Failed to determine partition table type of /dev/sda: Input/output error To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1471430/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I was getting this, and solved when df told me that /boot was full. I tried to apt-get purge my old kernels but that didnt' work, apt said not enough disk space... um, yeah, that's why i wanted to remove stuff. apparently apt-get tries to do some sorta boot config before removing, probably keeping things safe, but at the expense of being able to continue if /boot is full. [Bug 1471423] [NEW] GnuTLS Support in Task
Public bug reported: Beginning in 2.3.0, task now supports a task service that allows for synchronization. A compile-time flag enables GnuTLS support within the build which is required to use these features. It appears the current task package does not enable this flag. Configuring task to sync with a secured taskd and then running 'task sync init' results in: Taskwarrior was built without GnuTLS support. Sync is not available. It'd be useful to be able to have this feature supported out-of-the-box on Ubuntu. ** Affects: task (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1471423 Title: GnuTLS Support in Task To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/task/+bug/1471423/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 1467274] Re: Xorg radeon.dpm=1 causes glitches
OK, Christopher, below are the results after removing radeon.dpm=1 and radeon.audio=0. Each time this happens, the screen glitches. It seems to be triggered by something in the audio. HDMI audio keeps showing up in the list of audio devices, even when radeon.audio was 0. I also started my Bluetooth A2DP headset, which may have triggered (why, I can't imagine) the switching on off of the HDMI audio. BTW, the temperature power consumption _without_ radeon.dpm=1 is almost exactly the same as _with_ radeon.dpm=1. Has dpm=1 become the default? [Bug 1405525] Re: database is locked error prevents Diodon from adding items to or clearing history
Thanks Tasos for this additional feedback. It is certainly not a good thing that zeitgeist-daemon needs to be started during build which of course can cause issues as in your case. Something I have noticed in the past as well. I now split integration tests where Zeitgeist is needed and unit tests so this error during build is not happening again see Bug #1471438 What the original cause of this issue is, is still unclear to me. I also had zeitgeist-daemon running as root and my user without any problems. It is not good that zeitgeist-daemon is started as root in any case - but this is not necessary a cause of Diodon as every other application depending on Zeitgeist can issue starting of this daemon. All in all is this a Zeitgeist issue. I haven't reported this yet though as unfortunately I have not been able to create an example where it can be reproduced which would be needed for the Zeitgeist team to fix it. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1405525 Title: database is locked error prevents Diodon from adding items to or clearing history To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/diodon/+bug/1405525/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
