For 14.04.3, I'll just manually hint this in the livefs build, but a
more correct solution to mesa's deps (or mesa's unconditional dlopen)
should be sorted out at some point.

[Bug 1372202] Re: octave needs to be rebuilt against graphicsmagick 1.3.20-4

2015-07-30 Thread Christoffer Cronström
Workaround: I rebuilt the whole package locally, and it works flawlessly
out of the box. For those interested in this workaround, here's a
synopsis:

# Install the dev packages needed to build octave.
sudo apt-get build-dep octave

# Get the official source package. Do this in a clean directory, because it
will get polluted.
cd ~/some/suitable/directory
apt-get source octave

# Build it. This took roughly an hour for me.
cd octave-3.8.2
dpkg-buildpackage

# Either run it from the build directory:
./run-octave
# ...or install it over the official octave:
cd ..
sudo dpkg --install octave_3.8.2-4_amd64.deb

[Bug 1440111] Re: [calendar] Reminder notifications are not integrated into system notifications

Also there is no way to stop the snoozing feature. Every 5 minutes it
will ring, there is no way to stop it. For me it also rings on events
with no notifications set, which are imported from google calendar, and
i've sometimes woken up from repeating reminders in the middle of the
night. Not a very cool 'feature'. Also I still didn't know what the
reminder was for.

[Bug 1475612] Re: ubuntu-push ftbfs with GCC 5

2015-07-30 Thread John Lenton
From a quick look at the build log it seems to not be related to gcc5
but to dbus? I'm not sure whether that is the case really, but it's
possible some other change in the stack has done this; push hasn't been
rebuilt since april afaict.

[Bug 1431753] Re: Nvidia binary driver FTBS due to DKMS layer violation

2015-07-30 Thread KennoVO
Sezer, you're not going to believe this, but the issue you're having
with steam has nothing to to with the nvidia driver, but is caused by a
completely unrelated kernel bug that just happened to occur at the same
time people started testing the fix for the nvidia driver; see
lp:1479093 . The fix for the kernel bug is already released, so just
upgrade your kernel yet again, and your steam problem will go away.

I have to add that I also got confused by wine not working anymore after
applying the nvidia patch (and upgrading the kernel for the first time
in many months in order to test it), and it took me almost 2 hours to
figure out the problem was unrelated. This whole affair is turning into
one of the most frustrating experiences I've ever had with Ubuntu.

[Bug 1354391] Re: [browser] Can't download random files

2015-07-30 Thread Olivier Tilloy
@TenLeftFingers: this is related indeed. Although the fact that the
gallery app doesn’t show the file afterwards seems to be a bug in the
gallery app itself (or maybe an unsupported codec?). Feel free to file a
bug at https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gallery-app/+filebug
with details on the file you’re downloading.

[Bug 1477308] Re: adjusting volume (notify osd) causes fullscreen mode to exit when watching video

2015-07-30 Thread Ugo Riboni
After some investigation it does appear that whenever the volume keys
are pressed the application loses focus (i.e. Qt.application.state is
not Qt.ApplicationActive any more).

This is not a Qt-specific behavior, as I tested with a simple gtk+3
application and pressing the volume keys causes it to briefly lose and
regain focus too.

[Bug 1354391] Re: [browser] Can't download random files

2015-07-30 Thread TenLeftFingers
I think this is the same issue so I'll add it here. Please let me know
if I should file a separate bug:

Avi does not work at all because the browser asks which app to open with, but
only suggests the Gallery app. It then downloads the .avi to
.cache/com.ubuntu.gallery/HubIncoming/4/
The Gallery app doesn't show the movie afterwards so it is inaccessible and
difficult to delete unless you know how to use the terminal.

[Bug 1479438] Re: IN CAR: Battery levels not shared via bluetooth for in car experience

2015-07-30 Thread Simon Fels
The cause for this is that with the deprecation of HAL we also dropped
battery query support from BlueZ and never brought it back. We need to
interface BlueZ correct with upowerd so we can send out the correct
battery level.

[Bug 1479805] [NEW] /etc/bash_command_not_found is utterly broken

2015-07-30 Thread CarstenHey
Public bug reported:

In a nutshell, if the package command-not-found is removed, but not
purged, sourcing this file leads to silent failures if a command is not
found.

I don't use Ubuntu, but I assume that the file bash_command_not_found in
the bzr repository is installed to /etc

./x is your bash_command_not_found with /usr/ replaced by /ur/ to
simulate that the packages is removed but not purged.

I use a self written printexitvalue (see tcsh and zsh), which prints the
line bash: exit $? via $PROMPT_COMMAND - this is unrelated to the bug,
but shown in the output below.

$ unset -f command_not_found_handle
$ cat x
command_not_found_handle() {
  if  [ -x /ur/lib/command-not-found ]; then
 /ur/lib/command-not-found -- $1
 return $?
  else
 return 127
  fi
}
$ foo
bash: foo: command not found
bash: exit 127
$ . ./x
$ foo
bash: exit 127
$

As you can see, trying to run the non-available command foo results in
no output (except of the one I do in $PROMPT_COMMAND) and correctly
fails with exit code 127. It does not print bash: foo: command not
found, as it should.

command_not_found_handle() is not command_not_found_handler() (note the
trailing 'r' in the word handler, that's not in the word handle). man
bash (for the former function) and man zshall (for the latter function)
contain the glory details how both functions work and how they differ.
If /usr/lib/command-not-found is available, your
command_not_found_handle() implementation behaves as it should, but if
/usr/lib/command-not-found is not available it behaves as zsh's
command_not_found_handler() should, but not as a
command_not_found_handle() should.

An untested, but presumably correct implementation, except of the
unconditional overwriting of the function (I don't know how to prevent
this in bash properly), and returning 127 when it should return 126 (see
man p exec), based on /etc/zsh_command_not_found, is shown below.

Please replace two leading spaces with a tab, four leading spaces with
two tabs and so on; and don't replace || return $? with \nreturn $?,
in case someone uses set -e interactively. I quoted the words return and
builtin to guard against weird alias definitions (I did not do this in
the zsh snipppet because, in general, I expect zsh users to have at
least basic shell knowledge, and sometimes zsh users do ugly things on
purpose.

# (c) Zygmunt Krynicki 2007,

# This script will look-up command in the database and suggest

if [[ -x /usr/lib/command-not-found ]] ; then
  command_not_found_handle() {
[[ -x /usr/lib/command-not-found ]] || {
  \builtin printf 2 'bash: %scommand not found\n' ${1+$1: }
  \return 127
}
/usr/lib/command-not-found -- ${1+$1} || \return $?
  }

[Bug 1479596] Re: Cannot Run AMD Catalyst Control Center

2015-07-30 Thread LambdaFox
I purged fglrx-updates and used the 14.12 installer. 14.2 did install.
aticonfig --init --adapters=all worked. BUT, when I reboot the system,
my login screen is overlain with a black window that says: starting
version 219.

  need to
  define the new register value for pin 0x1d 0x1e because the original
  macro
  ALC256_STANDARD_PINS can't match pin definition. Also, the macro
  ALC256_STANDARD_PINS

  I applied this as is now. But the code there is already messy, and I
  wonder whether we should treat all 0x4xxx equally. So far, all
  pincfgs are regarded as a kind of fingerprint. But, judging from the
  actual values, the difference of 0x4xxx might be just a leftover
  of wastes by BIOS programmers.

  I don't mind any other way, but a sane cleanup would be appreciated.

  thanks,

  Takashi

 Something like below?

 remove all 0x4xxx from pin quirk table
 rewrite the pin_config_match()
   - first, compare all pins in a quirk table with the corresponding pin
 on the machine, if all pins get a matching,
   - second, compare all pins on the machine with the corresponding pin
 in the quirk table
   if the pin is non-0x4xxx, it needs match a corresponding
 pin in the quirk table, otherwise, it return false
   if the pin is 0x4xxx, the corresponding pin in the quirk
 table is 0x4 as well, it matches; if the corresponding pin in
 the quirk table is non-0x4xxx, it return false
   if the pin is 0x4xxx, and can't find the corresponding pin
 in the quirk table, it matches.

Yes, something like that. But I think the first loop can be
reduced.

thanks,

Takashi

[Bug 1479756] [NEW] wine doesn't install in chrooted environment

2015-07-30 Thread Lieven
Public bug reported:

ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS
wine 1.6.2-0ubuntu4
kernel 3.13.0-61-generic #100

When installing wine in a chrooted environment, I expected wine to
install just like every other package. Instead, it refuses with the
following message:

Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
 wine : Depends: wine1.6 but it is not going to be installed
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.

I have internet connection in chroot and dozens of other packages install just
fine.
I've been able to install wine outside the chroot, without any trouble.

2015-07-30 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that there was an error on your system when
trying to install a particular package. Please execute the following
command, as it will clear your package cache, in a terminal:

sudo apt-get clean

Then try performing the update again. This will likely resolve your
issue, but the failure could be caused by filesystem or memory
corruption. So please also run a fsck on your filesystem(s) and a
memory test.  Thanks in advance!

inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 1478592] Re: bcmwl-kernel-source fixes [Patch]

2015-07-30 Thread Andreas John
Hello,
yes, it supports 5 GHz and 2.4GHz and it's a hidden SSID. With your two
accesspoint setup, did you try to associate with one AP and turn that off or
force the AP desaccociate the client?

About my chipset: I run a Macbook Pro (rMBP) with the following
broadcom chipset (which is NOT supported by b43):

03:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4360 802.11ac Wireless
Network Adapter (rev 03)
03:00.0 0280: 14e4:43a0 (rev 03)

I installed the the suspend/resume script, and didn't see a no traffic
issue yet, but I have so choose the wifi again in the kde panel after
resume, even I was connected while suspending.

I keep you updated!

Description: mode switching tool for controlling flip flop USB devices
 Several new USB devices have their proprietary Windows drivers onboard,
 especially WAN dongles. When plugged in for the first time, they act
 like a flash storage and start installing the driver from there. If
 the driver is already installed, the storage device vanishes and
 a new device, such as an USB modem, shows up. This is called the
 ZeroCD feature.
 .
 On Debian, this is not needed, since the driver is included as a
 Linux kernel module, such as usbserial. However, the device still
 shows up as usb-storage by default. usb-modeswitch solves that
 issue by sending the command which actually performs the switching
 of the device from usb-storage to usbserial.
 .
 This package contains the binaries and the brother scripts.

[Bug 1479760] [NEW] iso-scan/filename= does not search btrfs partitions

2015-07-30 Thread Martin Thornton
Public bug reported:

When booting an ISO image from GRUB, the scripts in initrd.lz probe
partitions for the file given by the iso-scan/filename= kernel option.
However a whitelist in the initrd file /scripts/lupin-helpers only
considers partitions with filesystems of the types ext2, ext3, ext4,
xfs, jfs, reiserfs, vfat, ntfs, and iso9660, and will therefore fail to
mount an ISO located on a btrfs partition. Adding btrfs to this list
worked fine for me when testing with a 15.04 iso. I'm guessing its
exclusion is just an historic artifact.

[Bug 1479445] Re: IN CAR: Signal Strength not shown in car display

2015-07-30 Thread Simon Fels
This comes from the fact that our BlueZ version still relies on an older
API version of ofono as we have implemented. It listens for changes to a
SignalStrength property on the org.ofono.NetworkRegistration interface
which doesn't exist. The propery is named just Strength these days.
See  https://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-
branches/ubuntu/wily/bluez/wily/view/head:/audio/telephony-ofono.c#L922
and https://github.com/rilmodem/ofono/blob/master/doc/network-
api.txt#L127 for more details.

[Bug 1005459] Re: Polish date translation

2015-07-30 Thread GTriderXC
:-)

Just a simple example from one of Your links (photo) :-)

And further:

time.is is not a dictionary and the date format view loks a bit againts
rules from the lukaszrokicki link :-)

In rules You write about it is said that the days are not written with a
capital letter unlike in German or Englisch. Truth. But not if the name of a
day is put as a first one or even worse alone. The buttons in our systems like
Skip, Delete, Cancel, OK as well as sinlgle menu words: Programs, Places,
System (GNOME2) and their undermenu are written with a capital letter.
I just clicked my Mate clock on the upper panel. I see the days in calender are
not capitalized. They should be! These are standalone words! They are not part
of any senstence! Even wikipedia shows You that in your own link and actually
it is the best example. Just compare the difference between Języki
słowniańskie (Monday till Sunday are listed after a colon- the sentence stays
open-no capitalization) and Języki germańskie where the Monday till Sunday
are listed after a sentence with a dot.

The problem is that Polish people read that we write Monday
uncapitalized forgetting the rule about standalone words so common for a
electronic units.

Wikipedia - my school and an answer for Your wiktionary

!!! https://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stycze%C5%84
!!! https://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C5%9Aroda

https://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nazwa
https://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miesi%C4%85c

That's what I mean. So all in all, we write days and moths uncapitalized
in the middle of a sentence and capitalized as standalone (attachment).

Cheers

GTriderXC

[Bug 1478147] Re: hidden header allows clicking the back button while animating away

2015-07-30 Thread Tim Peeters
The header can contain action buttons on the right side in addition to
the back button. I think we want to disable all buttons when the header
is animating.

We can put a MouseArea on top of them to catch the events, or actually
disable them (without making them look disabled) when the header is
animating.

[Bug 1479771] [NEW] patch to raise service_start_timeout in session.conf does nothing and is unnecessary

2015-07-30 Thread Simon McVittie
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu has a long-standing patch claiming to raise the session service
startup timeout from 25s to 60s (with a comment saying it is raised to
40s).

However, this patch is pointless, for two reasons:

* A later directive in the same file which takes precedence, also sets the
service_start_timeout.
* That later directive sets the service_start_timeout to 120s, so even if the
patch worked as intended, it would be *reducing* the timeout.

Please consider dropping this.

[Bug 1479826] [NEW] 'systemctl enable apache2' wrongly reports a failure because of update-rc.d backwards compat actions

2015-07-30 Thread Elias Probst
Public bug reported:

# Problem description:
When using `systemctl enable apache2` to start apache2 by default on bootup,
the command returns the returncode 1.
The systemd service for apache2 itself is generated by 'systemd-sysv-generator'
based on /etc/init.d/apache2.

The output of `systemctl enable apache2` is:

```
Executing /usr/sbin/update-rc.d apache2 defaults
Executing /usr/sbin/update-rc.d apache2 enable
Failed to execute operation: No such file or directory
```

The content of the generated transient service unit is:

```INI
