[Bug 1055007] Re: cal output differs between 10.04.4 LTS and 12.04 LTS

2015-08-10 Thread Rolf Leggewie
Thank you for the explanation. I still don't see a bug. You will need
to take this up with upstream. Ubuntu will not introduce a delta
because of this.

[Bug 1437492] Re: boot stalls on USB detection errors

2015-08-10 Thread John5788
I am seeing this same issue on two separate Z87 boards from Asus on
Gentoo. It looks like the culprit is the Asmedia USB 3 controller, at
least from my end.

Cutting power to the system and powering on allows the init sequence to
complete normally. Upon reboot or regular power on, the device with ID
174c:2074 ASMedia Technology Inc. fails to load throwing the unable to
enumerate USB device message in dmesg.

I started noticing this problem when I switched to a 4.0 kernel on
Gentoo. Subscribing to follow up on this issue.

[Bug 1437492] Re: boot stalls on USB detection errors

2015-08-10 Thread John5788
Another finding I'd like to share that temporarily solves this
problem.

The Asus Z87 Maximus VI Formula board I have allows me to enable/disable
USB controllers from the BIOS. I disabled the Asmedia USB3 controller
and all the issues seem to go away:

1. laggy BIOS initialization
2. slow udev initialization
3. and USB devices not being available until after about 40-50 seconds after
boot

Since the controller winds up dead on reboots or power cycles without
power cut, any device I connect to those USB ports don't work anyway.
There is no point for me to use them for any devices.

2015-08-10 Thread Marek Greško
Just to clarify, I tested the /usr/share/ofono/scripts/set-context-
property ril_0 1 Preferred 1.

The preferred flag is now on Orange SK context using list-contexts, but
I still have no data connection and when I go to APN editor I still see
Orange World context selected. After selecting Orange SK, leaving the
editor and going back it is back to Orange World.

[Bug 1483279] [NEW] Unit tests fail where mouseClick() is used to simulate a click event on a MouseArea which is a descendant of a TextField

2015-08-10 Thread Olivier Tilloy
Public bug reported:

This appears to be a regression in version 1.3 of the UITK.

The browser has an AddressBar component which contains a TextField, and
the secondaryItem for this TextField is a MouseArea (for toggling the
bookmarked status of the current address). This component is unit
tested, and there is a test that simulates a click on the secondaryItem
to verify that the bookmarked status is correctly toggled.

This test worked with version 1.2 of the UITK, but fails when I update the
import of Ubuntu.Components to 1.3.
It appears that the TextField itself intercepts the simulated mouse click
event, thus getting active focus.

Note that the component works as expected when used in an app by a
normal user manipulating a mouse (i.e. the secondaryItem can be clicked
and that toggles the bookmark status as expected). It’s only the unit
tests that are failing.

I’m suspecting that the way QtTest simulates a mouse click event doesn’t
play well with Ubuntu.Mouse.forwardTo, although I’m not really sure how
and why.

[Bug 1478592] Re: bcmwl-kernel-source fixes [Patch]

2015-08-10 Thread Andreas John
@ldc:
- I did observe multiple times now, that killing the wpa_supplicant +
reconnecting to the wifi solved the no traffic issue.
- I can reproduce it quite good in the company by changing the floor (and
thus, getting a different access point with the same ssid)

- Does that workaround work for your no traffic situations, too? With
having looked into the code, I bet the crypto WPA stuff is done with the
wrong (old, before roaming) BSSID in the keys or challenge response or
whatever.

[Bug 1479014] Re: Cancel, Next, and Sign In functioning incorrectly on login or locked screen in Sign In? section

2015-08-10 Thread The Unknown
** Description changed:

  [Impact]

There are three patches in this one fix. So there are three bugs which
  are fixed:

  - Bug [1]: If the Next button ever gets set to Sign In, it won't
get reset to next until the next question asked by pam.

  - Bug [2]: Normally the user isn't allowed to proceed passed
the username question until they've filled it in.
To ensure this, the authprompt code desensitizes
the next button when the number of characters change to
  zero.
Unfortunately it fails to desensitize the next button
up front when the entry starts out empty.

  - Bug [3]: Users are not allowed to cancel if the verification has not
started yet and they are typing in their username.

These are rather important things to be fixed as they make the login
  process more confusing and difficult.

  How the bugs are fixed:

  - Bug [1] fix: Reset Next button to Next when asking for username.

  - Bug [2] fix: Disallow the user to press Next when the username field
  is empty up front.

  - Bug [3] fix: authPrompt no longer ignores the request to cancel before
a user has started verification and is still typing in their username.

  [Test Case]

  - Reproduce Bug [1]:

On the first login screen (or log out - not lock), click Sign In?,
then before doing anything else click Sign In, if the button allows
you to press it and is not greyed out, then you have successfully
  reproduced this bug.

  - Reproduce Bug [2]:

On the locked screen click Sign In?, then before doing anything else
press Cancel. If nothing happens, you have successfully reproduced
  this bug.

  - Reproduce Bug [3]:

On the locked screen click Sign In?, then in the username field, start
entering your username (or any text), then instead of pressing Next,
press Cancel, if nothing happens then you have successfully reproduced
  this bug.

- [Regression potential]
+ [Regression Potential]

- As these patches have already been put to practical use in the upstream
- version, and the patches which have been put to use in this version,
- have originated from those patches, I would say that the risk of
- regression is minimal.
+ 1. You may notice that we only fade the authentication prompt back in if
+ the auth prompt status is VERIFICATION_SUCCEEDED. It's possible for it
+ to be NOT_VERIFYING if the authprompt gets reset for some other reason
+ in the interim.
+
+ 2. You may also notice that the user session crashes when the login
+ screen is reactivated.

[Bug 1481008] Re: [SRU] OpenStack Kilo 2015.1.1 point release

2015-08-10 Thread Chris J Arges
Hello Corey, or anyone else affected,

Accepted heat into vivid-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/heat/2015.1.1-0ubuntu1
in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

[Bug 1483289] Re: Creating a new emulator is very confusing

2015-08-10 Thread Zoltan Balogh
If you want to create an emulator what is (close to*) identical with the
bq E.4.5 released image then you want to use the bq-stable.

The -rc stands for release candidate and the rc-proposed is the staging.

The devel and devel-proposed as it is used in the Ubuntu terminology
stands for the Ubuntu development release. Right now it is a wily based
image.

More details about the channels and channel names you can find here:
https://developer.ubuntu.com/en/start/ubuntu-for-devices/image-channels/

But sorry for the confusion. The SDK tools do not define the channel
names, just shows them in the list.

* close ti identical means that the emulator is an i386 based qemu image not an
armhf based real one

[Bug 1480877] Re: Access points' PropertiesChanged dbus signals freeze UI on mobile devices

2015-08-10 Thread Tony Espy
@ingo

Thanks for the comment and DBus logs.

In the original bug report, NetworkManager's WiFi device was stuck
connecting to an access point which no longer existed. Also as noted,
the access point in question was a softAP configured on a machine
running Windows8.1. Rebooting, solved his issue.

In order to make further progress on this bug, what we really need is a
concrete set of steps to reproduce the issue.

[Bug 1483303] [NEW] releasing failed

2015-08-10 Thread Chris J Arges
Public bug reported:

I deployed a machine successfully and then tried to release the machine
and it shows 'Releasing Failed' in the MAAS web UI. In the maas.log I
see the following:

Aug 10 15:23:31 kernelstack-maas maas.node: [INFO] bluecap: Releasing node
Aug 10 15:23:31 kernelstack-maas maas.node: [INFO] bluecap: Status transition
from DEPLOYED to RELEASING
Aug 10 15:23:31 kernelstack-maas maas.power: [INFO] Changing power state (off)
of node: bluecap (node-9511ff4e-3544-11e5-b83c-00163e4533f1)
Aug 10 15:24:15 kernelstack-maas maas.power: [ERROR] Error changing power state
(off) of node: bluecap (node-9511ff4e-3544-11e5-b83c-00163e4533f1)
Aug 10 15:24:15 kernelstack-maas maas.node: [INFO] bluecap: Status transition
from RELEASING to FAILED_RELEASING
Aug 10 15:24:15 kernelstack-maas maas.node: [ERROR] bluecap: Marking node
failed: Timeout after 7 tries

If I check the power state in the UI after this it shows the machine is
actually powered off. I can verify this via ipmi and via iLO (since this
is an HP machine).

I am running the following version on Trusty:
ii maas 1.8.0+bzr4001-0ubuntu2~trusty1 all
   MAAS server all-in-one metapackage

A few questions:
- Could I increase the timeout or retry attempts?
- I can easily reproduce this what other data would be useful?

[Bug 1483320] [NEW] Migrate Broadwell to use i915_bpo

2015-08-10 Thread Timo Aaltonen
Public bug reported:

There are several bugs affecting Broadwell generation graphics in the
vivid kernel (3.19), but not found in 4.2rc which i915_bpo module is
based on. In order to support our OEM partners (and other BDW users) it
would make sense to migrate BDW to use i915_bpo instead.

The known (public) bugs this would fix are:

- screen is black after xrandr rotate command
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1446979

- changing the VT causes flicker
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=85583
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1472070

- GPU hangs on resume
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1468232
(and dupes, which I believe there are several of)

- and some OEM machines can't always hotplug the HDMI output (no public
bug AIUI)

the migration should not be too risky, since i915_bpo is already used
for Braswell which is same generation as (=based on) BDW.

[Bug 1483325] [NEW] mount -t overlayfs misinforms when nonexisting directories are provided

2015-08-10 Thread Mario Splivalo
Public bug reported:

Consider the directory structure like this:

root@MIKE /tmp/ofs ls -al
total 20
drwxr-xr-x 5 root root 4096 Aug 10 18:09 .
drwxrwxrwt 9 root root 4096 Aug 10 18:09 ..
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Aug 10 18:09 lower
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Aug 10 18:09 mounting
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Aug 10 18:09 upper

Mounting upper over lower on mounting mount point works just fine:

root@MIKE /tmp/ofs mount -t overlayfs myoverlay -o
lowerdir=lower,upperdir=upper mounting/
root@MIKE /tmp/ofs df -Th mounting/
Filesystem Type Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
myoverlay overlayfs 219G 94G 114G 46% /tmp/ofs/mounting
root@MIKE /tmp/ofs

However if the directory name is misspelled (that is, we're providing
wrong directory), the error message is misleading:

32 root@MIKE /tmp/ofs mount -t overlayfs myoverlay -o
lowerdir=IAMWRONG,upperdir=upper mounting/
mount: special device myoverlay does not exist

I'm running this on Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS, using 3.13.0-61-generic kernel.

I'm not sure if this fits under 'linux' package, but I can't seem to be
able to find 'mount' package in Launchpad.

2015-08-10 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that there was an error on your system when
trying to install a particular package. Please execute the following
command, as it will clear your package cache, in a terminal:

sudo apt-get clean

Then try performing the update again. This will likely resolve your
issue, but the failure could be caused by filesystem or memory
corruption. So please also run a fsck on your filesystem(s) and a
memory test. Thanks in advance!

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

2015-08-10 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Reviewing your log files attached to this bug report it
seems that a package failed to install due to a segmentation fault in
the application being used for the package installation process.
Unfortunately, this bug report isn't very useful in its current state
and a crash report would be much more useful. Could you try recreating
this issue by enabling apport to catch the crash report 'sudo service
apport start force_start=1' and then trying to install the same package
again? This process will create a new bug report so I am marking this
one as Invalid. Thanks again for helping out!

[Bug 1456443] Re: Skip eMMC device's boot0, boot1 and rpmb partitions

2015-08-10 Thread Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre
** Description changed:

+ [Impact]
+ Installations on specific eMMC devices, where they are shipping with
mmcblk0rpmb and mmcblk0boot* partitions. For example, Nvidia Jetson TK-1 ARM
boards.
+
+ [Test case]
+ Attempt a server installation on the device.
+
+ [Regression potential]
+ Minimal; these devices are meant to be read-only and should be treated as
such by partman, so it makes sense to explicitly filter them out.
+
+ ---
  During installation,
partman will scan all the available partitions.
However, with the eMMC device, especially with its /dev/mmcblk0rpmb partition,
a popup warning will show up to interrupt the whole installation process.
One has to manually press the 'Ignore' button to skip that and proceed the
installation.
This seriously impacts some of OEM's auto installation requirements.

2015-08-10 Thread The Unknown
@Tim, I was recently alerted to the fact that those patches also cause
this bug: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=753181 There are
patches available to fix the bug caused by the other patches, what do
you want me to do? Create a new debdiff? Add to the old? Or would this
be for a different bug report with a new debdiff applying the patches?

As this is the sort of thing that I would assume goes in the regression
potential section, I have included details of it there.

[Bug 1483281] Re: after complete upload of package site says Bad gateway

2015-08-10 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1483281/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[Bug 1483276] [NEW] Unable to launch xdiagnose through the GUI in the normal way

2015-08-10 Thread The Unknown
Public bug reported:

I am in need of doing some diagnostics work with xdiagnose, however
when searching for it in the Activities Overview, and then clicking on
it, absolutely nothing happens, when in the past it would ask me for my
password so that it could gain superuser privileges.

I looked further into this and tried running it in Terminal:

xdiagnose

And this was the output from the command:

Error: Must run as superuser

There was no output from the command:

grep -r 'xdiagnose' ~/.local/share/applications

And the output of this command grep -r 'xdiagnose'
/usr/share/applications was:

/usr/share/applications/xdiagnose.desktop:Name=xdiagnose
/usr/share/applications/xdiagnose.desktop:Exec=pkexec xdiagnose

/usr/share/applications/xdiagnose.desktop:Icon=/usr/share/xdiagnose/icons/microscope.svg
/usr/share/applications/xdiagnose.desktop:X-Ubuntu-Gettext-Domain=xdiagnose

The contents of the file is this:

[Desktop Entry]
Name=xdiagnose
GenericName=Diagnose Graphics Issues
Comment=X.org Diagnostic and Repair Utility
Exec=pkexec xdiagnose
Icon=/usr/share/xdiagnose/icons/microscope.svg
Terminal=false
Type=Application
Categories=System;Settings;
X-Ubuntu-Gettext-Domain=xdiagnose

I have reinstalled it with sudo apt-get install --reinstall xdiagnose,
however this seems to have made no difference at all to anything.

I have also attempted to launch another application via the Activities
Overview that uses pkexec to start, and it works fine as normal.

This has been adapted from this AskUbuntu question (which I asked):

/usr/share/applications/xdiagnose.desktop:X-Ubuntu-Gettext-Domain=xdiagnose

The contents of the file is this:

- [Desktop Entry]
- Name=xdiagnose
- GenericName=Diagnose Graphics Issues
- Comment=X.org Diagnostic and Repair Utility
- Exec=pkexec xdiagnose
- Icon=/usr/share/xdiagnose/icons/microscope.svg

I have reinstalled it with sudo apt-get install --reinstall xdiagnose,
however this seems to have made no difference at all to anything.

I have also attempted to launch another application via the Activities
Overview that uses pkexec to start, and it works fine as normal.

This has been adapted from this AskUbuntu question (which I asked):

[Bug 1483279] Re: Unit tests fail where mouseClick() is used to simulate a click event on a MouseArea which is a descendant of a TextField

2015-08-10 Thread Olivier Tilloy
I’m attaching a simple standalone reproducer. Observe the issue by
running it like that:

qmltestrunner -input tst_test.qml

[Bug 1483279] Re: Unit tests fail where mouseClick() is used to simulate a click event on a MouseArea which is a descendant of a TextField

2015-08-10 Thread Olivier Tilloy
Note that that the enabled-ness (or visibility) of the MouseArea plays a
key role in the issue: if 'enabled' (or 'visible') is set to
!textField.activeFocus, the issue occurs. If always visible/enabled, the
issue doesn’t occur.

2015-08-10 Thread Robert Hooker
Sounds like you didn't install linux-image-extra-3.13.0-61-generic for
that kernel?
